I mean the food all smell fantastic come to find out the young man explained to me that they were actually there for their aunt service that she had actually passed away in January 2024, but she had been a professor and her husband has been a judge and so he already passed away so what they did was they took her ashes all over the world they came from England and Ireland. They took her ashes like five different places of the six different places over the past year so they could take and have a party with each one of the family members a friend who couldn't make it to one place or the other All at the same time so then they just brought her back here and they buried her this morning with her husband in Mawn Phelia in the cemetery and they were having the app party for here afterwards I just thought that was like the neatest thing to do for anyone. Diane, John, and their crew of dedicated employees, opened this restaurant in the summer of 2020, in the middle of an international pandemic, and still managed to rise to the top as a fantastic, family-oriented, slow food restaurant in a small town with several well established restaurants as its base. Their idea was grounded in the "simple" grilled cheese sandwich, reimagined in some delightfully tasty presentations. The menu is modest and, other than seasonal specials, is steadfast in its design! I have eaten there more times than I can count and have YET to experience any deviation from the quality they presented at the outset! How many restaurants can attest to that, alone? The atmosphere is homey (it is a former home in a lovely neighborhood), the service is top-notch and the food is delicious. The management attends to every table at least once during your stay (so there was ample opportunity for this customer to express any concerns to the person in the best position to correct any issues), and the staff consists of community members who are our friends, neighbors, or children thereof. So special is this space, the youth servers appear every spring in their prom-best to have their pictures taken with Diane and John! How special is that???!!!! This is a team that places community at the center of their work: even facilitating massive community fundraising efforts post-flood, 2024 and 2025! If you live in this area, you already know what a gem this place is. If you are visiting, put a night out (or lunch) on your "must do" list while exploring Barre's rich granite industry history. BLM artwork litters the walls, there's a sign that says "trans people eat free" under the register and Hailey greets you with the warmest smile from behind the counter! Then...we tried the food. Nothing could have prepared us for how absolutely delicious everything was! And its not just their pizza thats mind-blowing, so are their vegetarian and chicken dishes. Hailey's service was wonderful, she (and her sweet daugther!) even did a site visit before the wedding to give us advice on where her team should set up, and what makes the most sense for rental planning. She was extremely accommodating to our vegan diet, as well and provided gluten-free alternatives for our guests. My parents mentioned "faine" aka "farinata," because we eat that with our pizza in our home-country of Argentina, and Hailey offered to learn the recipe and make it for us at the wedding. Thats how thoughtful she is! My response, "okay." 45 MINUTES!!!!! later, the delivery driver shows up. He was very courteous and apologized. Now, he didn't make the sub, nor is he the Manager. I gave the Driver the incorrect sub and asked if he brought me a refund. His response, "they didn't give me any money for that." I call the Store and speak to the Manager. I asked about a refund since my 30 minute lunch was over forever ago. His response, "well, I can't refund you and be out the 2 subs." "We replaced it, that should be good enough." So...think about that for a moment. If I've ever been somewhere and it was wrong, it was replaced and I was credited as an apology. The REPLACEMENT is not the apology. I will never eat there again. And I will tell everyone about the poor service. As I mentioned, I work in retail. If I had a Customer unhappy, I would do everything I could to correct it and ensure they left happy.

After we finally ordered drinks, we waited 20 minutes only to discover our drinks sitting at the bar--our martinis had already become warm.
