Ed, wtf? Simply used to be a local go-to for delicious sandwiches. Then they added pizza--what a coup! As a regular, I used to love my Simply Subs and Pizza.
But nowadays...
The location is absolutely disgusting. Greasy, falling apart, sloppy, dirty. How these bozos pass a health inspection, I will NEVER know.
Employees are rude, crude, unclean, slow, lazy, and sorry--but stupid. They have zero training and no customer service skills. They treat you like a jerk for ordering food from them, and respond to smiles and politeness and TIPS with disdain. Seriously, one of the cashiers sarcastically said, "gee, thanks" and rolled his eyes at me leaving a $5 tip on a $10 order--that took 20 minutes to make and was completed in-store! What special effort went into my experience?!?
The food has taken a STEEP nosedive in quality in the last decade, oh my lord. If you were to bring this food to a friend, they would punch you in the face. It's barely edible, and looks/tastes/smells like poison.
An anecdote to tie it all together:
The last (and I mean LAST) time I went to Simply, there were maybe two people ahead of me. The first woman ordered a single sandwich that took 25 minutes to make. The second person grew frustrated and quietly left. I stupidly stuck to my guns. While waiting for that Picasso behind the counter to finish the half-hour sandwich, a woman stormed into Simply and demanded to speak to a manager. One of the delivery drivers had apparently SPED through a red light and almost hit her child. Was she offered free food? An apology? Anything? Nope. The manager told her "that didn't happen" and the returning delivery driver told her to "go f**k herself." I should've left in solidarity; that is COMPLETELY inexcusable. Then came time to order my food! A steak bomb and some jalapeno poppers, my favorite. The girl behind the counter never once looked me in the eye, asked "what do you want?" and just...stormed off. I tried to remain all smiles and check in on my food as the minutes ticked away...the girl behind the counter was more rude to me each time, even calling me "annoying." 45 MINUTES LATER, I had my (none too cheap) meal, left a tip, and returned home. The coating was completely burnt off my jalapeno poppers and the cheese had exploded off to leave nothing but wrinkled peppers. There was gristle in the steak, and sharp, wood-like particles all throughout my sandwich. After the third stab in the gums, I couldn't enjoy the sandwich. When I brought the remains back to Simply to get my money back, they said there was nothing I could do despite there only being a few small bites taken out of large sandwich--like I had ripped the tag off a sweater and tried to get a refund. I pressed the matter and asked to speak to Ed. He shambled out and told me he REFUSED to do anything for me. REFUSED! He must've REALLY needed my $20 I paid for the "meal." To top it all off, those two to three little bites were enough to give me food poisoning.
Ed has given up. He no longer cares about employees or customers. People are getting sick off his food, mistreated and even harassed by his employees, and yet he does nothing. I was a loyal customer for years, but that means nothing to this crack squad of jerks and burnouts. Unless you enjoy being berated and abused for staying loyal to a place that no longer has any loyalty to its clientele, AVOID SIMPLY SUBS AND PIZZA AT ALL COSTS! ZERO STARS!!!
