I have been going to this location for over 40 years since I attended Santa Monica college and always loved it. It's been a few years and I was in the neighborhood and craving the "world famous avocado burrito". I ordered it and requested very little beans and no cheese and requested a little extra lettuce instead. I was told the lettuce would be an up charge even thought I wanted no cheese and very little beans (more expensive ingredients than lettuce). Instead of loosing my mind, which I was really close to doing, I simply walked out and will never return. I will go to my local Campos on on Venice which is terrific and they would never treat me this way. read more

I ordered a Fiesta Taco Salad. $16 with taxes and it tasted terrible. The shell was excellent and the lettuce was fresh but little to no beans, and the chicken was tasteless. A friend ordered one as well and said it was not good. The limited amount of chicken and beans was disappointing. No dressing other than oil and vinegar and thousand dressing. Honestly, it was not good and will not be back. Oh my friend was charged 1.60 extra for more sour cream. Very little came on it. I would assume if you do not offer ranch the nice thing to do is provide some sour cream. read more

Solid place for a quick order w/out the lines. Although they have the chili colorado, bean and cheese burrito on the menu... this is not Tito's Tacos! The similarities end there. I tend to like Campos tacos and taquitos. They're fresh, crispy and flavorful. Even though the colorado burrito is a go to, but don't sleep on the avocado burrito, and don't forget the MENUDO. Plenty of parking and seating. The rating would be closer to a 4star if it weren't for the area. All in all safe, but you do get some sketchy characters once in a while. read more

I have to give it a two due to horrible customer service ! I'm not use if Rafael is part owner of campos because he sure has a I don't care attitude. You can't get a smile from him. I saw him interacting with a customer before me and he was not nice . I have been coming here all my life and to see that the employees are not like they use to bed I believe Juan that's has been there forever is the only one that is nice . Food wise I can't complain but I eat the same thing always . Avocado burrito I keep coming for the burrito . From the outside, this place doesn't look like much. Inside, it's very simply decorated and clean. Can't really ask for much more. After trying the food here, it's a hidden gem worth going to. The lady who took my order was super nice and made sure I had everything I needed for my to go order. Menus were a little hard to see, especially the breakfast menu was hidden in the corner. I've added pictures so people know what to order before coming here. We ordered: 1. Breakfast burrito chorizo and egg - I was kind of surprised it didn't have potatoes or rice and beans. Honestly, after trying it, you don't need anything else. This hits the spot. 2. El Panzon Burrito - This is one of their specialties and is a wet burrito. I ordered it with carne asada and no lettuce and tomatoes. A burrito with lettuce and sliced tomatoes, I think, is an abomination and an insult to the burrito. 3. Nacho dip with meat - ordered carne asada with no beans. Sometimes, most places put so much beans that it takes away from everything else. Tasty and the chips were fresh. 4. Flautas w/ guacamole and sour cream - Crunchy and super flavorful. Highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back. read more

Realistic expectations. This place is clean, dated and humble. I first had their famous avocado burrito when I was single, young, broke and liked to party! This was late 70's & early 80's. Me and my friends lived off these burritos because they were cheap, good and filling. I am here now and just finished my avocado burrito with chips & salsa. Served in a red and white paper tub on a plastic tray. I haven't eaten here since the early 80's! The same taste and the same comfort food I remember and great service. Beans are tasty, guac is good and the crispy lettuce! Yum! Great fresh salsa bar and crispy tortilla chips. It's $10 meal but it's fresh and I think healthy. Heck, you can't get a decent burger these days for under $15.00 unless you eat the poison @ McDonalds or BK. Maybe it's nostalgia but the food is how I remember it. read more

Terrible service every Saturday with this old man working the phones. Many occasions gets my order wrong. Today was the worst. Puts my wife on hold for ten minutes, while taking orders from people we can hear every conversation he is having. Then he decides too hang up. My wife tries to call back no answer. Ridiculous. This isn't the first time this has happened. Then when I get he tells me he dosen't take phone orders after 7. But while I'm there waiting for my food . They are taking phone orders after 7. My wife called at 7:40pm And was on hold for 10 mins. Ridiculous. If he doesn't want to work he needs to stay home. Very unprofessional. Now I see why other friends have told me before the order gentleman always messing up orders. read more

Today was probably my least favorite meal. Wet burrito in chili verde. Asked with no rice. Had beans lettuce sour cream and guacamole. Not a lot of flavor was warm but was not my favorite. Not meaty at all. Needed salt. Maybe I should have gone with the basic burrito. Didn't finish it. But blessed to have food so I can't complain. The staff as always very friendly. read more

My dad paid nearly $40 for three burritos, and when I opened the bag back at work, I genuinely thought they had forgotten the food. These burritos were so small I had to check if they were sample sized. I've seen more stuffing in a decorative pillow. The salsa? Sweet. Not spicy, not flavorful.... sweet. Why?? Are y'all making churro sauce for tacos now?? Also, the vibes inside were off. It smelled weird, the employees were rude, and the whole thing gave "we microwave everything in the back" energy. Honestly, should've just hit Taco Bell. At least their burritos have some personality and cost less than $13 each. Never again. read more

Reasonably priced and they have my favorite taco post becoming a vegetarian, fried potato taco. Got the enchilada taco combo which is relatively reasonably priced, I've been going to Gilbert's which is still great, but this is better priced for that type of combo and almost as good, like really close. The potato taco is a tad greasier next door, but they have too much cheese. I prefer the salsa next door, but I'm so happy these guys give chips with the combo. I didn't see pico de gallo at the salsa bar, will have to ask if they have it available, just not in front. I really like the crema that came with the taco. Pinto beans smothered in cheese and solid rice. Order at counter and sit down. I hadn't been in years, but the place is bigger than I remembered. Plenty of parking. read more

A southern California institution that has been serving for over 50 years. This review is for the nachos only, my fault for getting this menu item for a place that has "Burrito" in the name. The portion of Asada Nachos was definitely large but served on a paper style single use plate. They were loaded with meat, beans, cheese, Pico tons of sour cream and green watery guacamole. Flavor wise, the menu item fulfilled my lunch craving for the day. I think this Santa Monica location is one if the firsts. The interior reminded me of a late 80's Taco Bell with the permanently installed swivel chair tables and fiberglass booths. I didn't appreciate the homeless person begging for money while we were dining but the staffed worked quickly to ask them to leave after he made contact with every customer in the restaurant first. Campos Burritos I bet is a close cousin of Roberto's that has many locations in the Vegas area. Next time I'm going for the Burrito. read more

I've been looking into expanding my burrito palette recently, and I have always had Campos on my mind. Turns out it's actually pretty good! This place is a classic, beat-up type spot that doesn't look to hot from the outside, but you know they put together fire food. Went with the wet carne asada burrito and it was just how I wanted it. Also, I appreciated how the restaurant had TVs. Never know when you might want to catch a game in between some tacos, and Campos has you covered. The staff was definitely friendly and made my first time worth remembering.I may be trying some other burritos in the meantime, but Campos was a great one that if you already haven't, should definitely try. read more

We go to Campos all the time as it's our neighborhood spot. Their turkey tacos (hard shell) are fantastic, the burritos (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) are perfect, and their salsa verde is just so good!
