I love this little spot. I come here at least once a month, sometimes twice. I always get my go to which are lengua tacos, fried fish, and menudo. The staff here are nice. Will definitely keep coming back here.

    4 Enchiladas Plate
    Christina A.

I came across this little restaurant when my hubby and I were looking for a mexican restaurant to check out. We originally were going to a different restaurant but were pressed for time and decided to check this place out. The place is small and there are two parts to it. One side of the restaurant is where you order and the other side is the dining area. Food- 2.5 out of 5 Hubby ordered nachos and I ordered the tostada de ceviche and the enchilada plate. I wish I had known about the serving size before I ordered so I wouldnt have ordered so much food. The nachos were enough to feed 3 people. The cashier let us know that they dont add cheese to the nachos they add queso fresco. The nachos were good. The tostada de ceviche was really good as well. The only comment I will say about the ceviche was that it was one tostada on top of a bed of chips. The meal looked bigger than it actually was. The reason why my food rating is so low is because of the enchilada plate. The plate came with 4 enchiladas with chicken and rice and beans. The rice was hard and tasteless. The beans were really salty and had a weird taste to it. I ended up not eating the beans or rice. The enchilada sauce was good but the chicken that was used had peppers and onions. Ive never had enchiladas like that, it didnt taste bad but it was different. Hubby and I got Jamaica which was really good just a bit sweet. Service- 3.5 out of 5 When ordering, it was a bit confusing. There isnt a clear line where you should be lining up to order. When we were speaking to the cashier, she seemed annoyed and the busser would come by and talk over her to us. We werent sure who we should be talking to. She let us know that she would call out for us when our food was ready. We walked to the other side of the restaurant and sat down. A waitress came and gave us our food. The waitress was attentive and helpful if we needed anything. I was a bit disappointed by the food but Id be willing to check this place out again. The portion sizes were big and prices were reasonable. I'd say if you want to check this place out, ask questions about your food especially if you have allergies. No

The cashier has a lousy attitude when answering and answering the phone and I want to attend to both at the same time and angry. And to continue I enter the bathroom and the toilet is dirty, it's 10 am, it should be clean. gross

    Carnitas burrito. Huge!!!

Solid and so affordable. I've driven by here about 200 times and always have wanted to go. Today was that day and I'm glad I did. Very local and authentic Mexican food. A great cross section of trade people and other folks that are looking for good food at a fair price. I spent about 15 minutes staring at the menu, it's as big as the burritos. Some hand written and some not. But so many choices. Tongue? Ok, maybe not the first visit. I went carnitas and wrapped in a burrito that was as big as my head. The pork was so tender and moist. Filled with rice and beans and way more than I could ever eat. Chips were good, seemed homemade which is a pet peeve of mine when they are not. Salsa bar was really good. The avo sauce was the best for me. Some great hot choices. The soups looked great and again, good value. Once again huge good portions. I'll be back. Parking is a challenge, but worth it in the end. Whole lunch with drink was $8!!!! Nice.

Shrimp Ceviche Tostada - not too bad, but can't wait to go back to try the fish Ceviche Tostada instead once business picks up!
    Yonni H.

So happy to find a place in the neighborhood with outdoor seating during COVID distancing! They were out of fish Ceviche, so I tried the Shrimp Ceviche Tostada instead. It was huge! I would order it with extra Pico De Gallo and Cilantro. However, I am hoping that business picks up enough for them to get back to making fish Ceviche -

    Coctel de camaron
    Jesstine G.

Taqueria Sanchez is expensive for what it is. $12 for a bowl of menudo, $9 for chilaquiles (plus $3 to add eggs!), $15 for a coctel de camaron served in a plastic container. Smh. The food is okay, except for the birria. Ughh the birria was awful. They should be embarrassed to serve it. It was dry and chewy. Possibly the worst I've ever had. The chilaquiles were spicy and tasty, but I'm not going to pay $12 for chilaquiles con huevo. The shrimp cocktail was fine too. The shrimp was fresh and deveined perfectly. Overall, it was good, but the prices are too high. I recommend El Abajeno or Tacomiendo instead (both just a few blocks away). ps. Parking is dreadful. pps. The horchata is really sweet :( ppps. That avocado salsa that everyone raves about is a great bonus! (but they are stingy with chips)

It disappoints me knowing I grew up on this restaurant and recently coming back I gave it a chance and it's better off to experience another taqueria. The meat was dry, they barely gave chips the first time and there was no love in the food. And no real greeting. These tacos were always my favorite to get and now I know I don't need to be coming back and be given little effort in service. Sad to mention these employees don't know have much of diversity experience either. Little do they know I'm Latina as well and I see how others inside are greeted incredibly different. I hope your experience is more positive than mine

Now when you pull up originally you might think, "am I in the right place" but once you park and get into the courtyard, it is LOVELY! Amazing ambience! There is a bocce set up, string lights. It is a little slice of oasis in the middle of the fashion district. The restaurant itself - beautiful. I couldn't ask for more. Absolutely perfect in my book. Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. The service was quick and attentive. Parking was easy for us. I will definitely be back!

The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

Located between Koreatown and Pico-Union, this restaurant delivers an outstanding dining experience from the moment you're seated. My wife and I both ordered the Mole Coloradito with chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. One detail we really appreciated was being able to choose between white meat or dark meat--a thoughtful touch that lets you customize your meal to your preference. The mole was rich, complex, and full of flavor, exactly what you would hope for from a restaurant known for its Oaxacan specialties. As a welcome appetizer, they bring fresh chips and salsa to the table, but what really impressed us was when they replaced the salsa with their incredible mole sauce. It was so good we found ourselves dipping everything into it. Both meals were served with rice that was perfectly cooked with a great consistency and flavor. For those feeling adventurous, give the Chapulines (grasshoppers) a try. They may sound intimidating, but they were surprisingly enjoyable and added to the authentic experience. The staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and patient with those of us who are not fluent in Spanish. Their hospitality made us feel comfortable and welcomed throughout our visit. As soon as you walk up the stairwell you'll be transported into this super cute place with an outdoor-indoor feel, almost like an elegant treehouse. We ordered a few items to share: Cameron ceviche, flautas and for our sweet tooth, French toast paired with a mango sorbet surprise with a candle for our birthdays (tip: we drizzled the melted sorbet on our French toast and took small scoops with each bite - game changer!). Everything was so delicious! We also ordered mocktails, a miche-nada for him and a lemony drink for me. This experience wouldn't have been as great without the exceptional service we had. Our waters were always refilled without asking, our tables were cleaned with every dish, honestly top-notch service! And I live in Portland, which has really good vegetarian options. First of all, I could eat like 75% or more of the menu as a pescatarian. I browsed the menu and had a really hard time deciding, but ended up on the cauliflower rajas taco, the crispy shrimp taco & the vegan Korean BBQ taco. The waiter recommended the crispy shrimp taco, but I actually enjoyed the vegetarian tacos more. I love cauliflower and poblano so that taco was a great starter. So much flavor and a variety of textures. The tortillas were super flavorful too. The potato taquitos came next and I am actually obsessed. The outside was perfectly crispy, the interior was soft, flavorful & cheesy. The sauce complimented it perfectly. I can not recommend them enough. The crispy shrimp taco was really good, but I also tried a crispy fish taco and would honestly get that over the shrimp. I think there was mango or something in the coleslaw of the fish taco because it had a really nice fresh flavor to it. Last, I had the vegan Korean BBQ taco. The mushroom shreds & the flavor were just perfect. Again, as a pescatarian I have really never had Korean BBQ because it's so heavily meat focused. I truly loved this taco.
