Margarita Flight, tacos and quesadilla with chicken and fries. Yummy!

Another nice experience. Andrea was our server again. Always good, quick and friendly service. The Rams were playing the Bears and they have several screens to watch which is nice. Wasn't too crowded as the game had only just started. Always enjoy coming here!

Really enjoyed this spot. The food was way better than I expected, especially the tacos and the shrimp dish, both packed with flavor and super fresh. The service was warm and quick, the kind where you actually feel taken care of. The vibe is the best part. Colorful lights, loud music, people having fun, it is the kind of place where you settle in and end up staying longer than planned. Being right on Ocean Ave also gives it that extra energy. Overall a fun dinner and somewhere I would gladly come back to try more.

Me and my friends arrived for happy hour on a very empty, Monday afternoon. Half of us ordered from the happy hour menu, which has deals like three tacos or a burrito for $10. Despite the vacancy of the restaurant, our waitress took unreasonably long to reach our table. We felt rushed, and our waters were rarely refilled. The tacos were okay, the asada was not very flavorful, the chicken was completely dry, and the pastor was the only decent choice, but the tacos were small for the price. My friend who ordered the burrito received a burger instead and we had to send it back to the kitchen. My other friend who asked for an enchilada with red sauce instead got green sauce, because apparently green was the only choice, despite it saying red on the menu. Everything else was good, like the birria tacos and buffalo loaded fries, but this restaurant was probably empty around happy hour for good reason.

Service was great on weekday nights! Not that busy and employees are nice and friendly! Drinks for solid prices and Monday has all day happy hour so that's a bonus. I got the bean and cheese burrito and you just can't go wrong with ordering it here. Decent prices for happy hour and nice cool vibes. Meal came with fries and also ordered the chips and guac from HH menu.

Sister restaurant to Mr Tempo cantinas. Great beachside location with outdoor and indoor seating. Staff very welcoming. Stopped for a drink since I had finished lunch. El Peligroso margarita was small but flavorful. No skimping on the alcohol. Great place to grab a bite and relax and enjoy the view

Tried this place for the first time and the food was really good. It's a half outdoor half indoor restaurant so it was nice to be able to sit outdoors and enjoy the fresh air. Our reservation was at 8:30pm on a Friday evening and we were seated immediately. Our waiter Jose was very nice! He kept the drinks flowing for our table and checked up on us several times. The food we had was really good, a lot better than most cantinas in my opinion. The Bone Marrow Tacos are super delicious!!! Will definitely try that again next time and the Agua frescas was so refreshing! It wasn't super sweet and tasted just right. The only thing I could suggest is to play better music!!! We loved all the scenery and the cooo paintings on the walls but wished there was better playing music like Pit Bull or some reggaeton!!! It would have definitely been a vibe but overall we would definitely be visiting again!

They have deals all through the week. I went on a Friday for happy hour in the afternoon. Great prices, hands down one of the best birria tacos I've tried in a long time, so much so I ordered another round. The bone marrow tacos were their own creation and something new for me. The pork belly bites were good for that they were but I took most of it home and made then into a different meal which was great. Many different salsas and most have a nice kick. Drinks definitely were not the go to. Food yes drinks no. I'll be back for those birria tacos and to try their burgers next.

This place used to be a favorite, but not anymore. I'm not sure if Mr. Tempo still owns it, but the quality has definitely gone downhill. Food portions have gotten much smaller -- I even took a photo to show how tiny the grilled octopus is now. It used to be a full plate, now it's just two tentacles. There were no waiters in sight, and even some employees were openly complaining about how slow business is. I'm not writing this based on one bad visit either -- I've noticed poor service on multiple occasions. If you look at my past reviews, you'll see I used to enjoy coming here, but sadly I can't recommend it anymore.

One of my favorite experiences in San Diego!! Couldn't believe how delicious the food was! Never had bone marrow tacos and it was definitely an experience! The music was and vibe of the place plus the location are SO much fun! And our server was so great in trying to make an exception and bringing back the 3 tacos dish to allow us to experience more flavors, even though it's no longer on the menu. Highly highly recommend

The concierge at my hotel recommended this place when I asked for a Mexican restaurant to go to in Santa Monica. I had the tacos dorados de birria and ginger mocktail, and they were both DELISH! I also loved the fun and colorful interior of the restaurant, the humongous menu, and nearby walk to the beach.

King & Queen Cantina is less of a restaurant and more of a full-sensory takeover, a vibrant, technicolor experience from the moment you walk through the door. The Santa Monica area is crowded with options, but few command a presence quite like this. For those who demand more than a quiet, stuffy dinner, this is your kingdom. The ambiance is an art piece in itself--a riot of neon, street art, and pulsating energy that sets the stage for a seriously good time. And the drinks? Each one a perfectly balanced concoction designed for maximum enjoyment. Service was excellent and well-paced, especially for a spot that gets this packed. This is not your low-key dinner spot, but a high-energy, fun-loving cantina where the food, drinks, and decor all come to play. Thank you so much for the birthday love!

They have a happy hour menu and specials menu until 6pm so you are not short of finding good deals here. Tip: for veg folks, know that the beans are made in meat broth. That said, I did not get beans in my tacos. Instead the kitchen substituted it with soy chorizo. I appreciated that. The ambience was like a brunch party, with reggaeton music playing. There was a photographer on site who went around each table taking photos and directing some poses. *Tip: Pass on this opportunity if you do not want to purchase the framed print out photos. The intention was not made clear to us when asked if we'd like a photo so it left an awkward impression when she showed us the hard copy print outs in plastic frames. This could be a nice add on if you are there for a special occasion though! The service quality can definitely be improved by being attentive and checking in here and there; this would probably help to bring more customers back.

Greeted by our very kind waiter, we were served the most delicious toasted bread, butter(s) and rock salt from La Boulangerie. As a film nut, of course I ordered the Cinema Paradiso, this is a very imaginative cocktail recipe, like a an Old Fashioned but with a movie theater twist, kindly served with a pinch of candy kettle-corn at our table by the mixologist herself; what a playful and tasty delight! For starters, we are ordered the Mini-French-Onion Grilled Cheese and Hamachi Crudo. Both absolutely delicious. The Hamachi Crudo Leche de Tigre sauce is beyond perfect. The balance of flavors between charriness of the bread and melted cheeses, and tangy onion soup dip...just wow. Then the steak! Accompanied by a delicious Châteauneuf-du-Pape, we shared between two, a perfectly cooked (medium rare of course, don't be basic) N.Y. Strip (au poivre sauce on the side) with au gratin, and it came with nice little on the vine roasted tomatoes and a little leafy salad...like I told Chef when he came to our table post meal: "INCROYABLE!". Every-Single-Bite!! But, aside every dish being perfect and the service being above and beyond, what literally brought me to tears was the dessert. I haven't had "floating islands" since my mom used to make it many, many moons ago (unfortunately ma is now at early dementia), and when I tasted my first spoonful here, I couldn't hold back the tears, memories flooded and complimented by the preceding meal which was perfect...too many feels. Merci Beaucoup! For a VERY special culinary experience to all at La Monique. Please don't change a thing. I rarely ever make the effort to write a review, but this is very much worth every second. We'll be coming back for sure. Feel like I just discovered fire.

This is completely unacceptable and feels like fraud. To make things worse, the food was completely average -- nothing special at all and definitely not worth the prices they charge. I would strongly advise others to double-check their receipts and statements after visiting this restaurant.

Parking: They have an adjacent paid parking lot though metered street parking is cheaper since they unfortunately don't validate. Ambiance: Really gorgeous inside, with high arced wooden beam ceilings, natural light through skylights, romantic dim lighting, candles, lots of potted trees for greenery, and velvet seating to add elegance. Even the plates are worth admiring. They have a nice patio with heat lamps for cooler evenings as well. I absolutely love the vibes for date night. I have eaten here four times now and have a reservation ready for my fifth. The menu changes EVERY WEEK and the fact that the ingredients are so seasonal, and the chef really seems to takes pride and passion in creating different dishes so often, keeps me coming back each time. They have done specials from Sunday Night $35 7-course omakase to 50% off Neighborhood Patio nights to $65 for two 4-course date nights and the quality is so worth it. I even came by for an art class hosted on the patio since they hold multiple community events, including sports watch parties. The best yellowtail I've had (including eating in Japan and various sushi spots in LA, OC, SF, and NY) was surprisingly here, at a place I was honestly hesitant to even order sushi from. It's the first time I actually really could taste the flavor as it's more subtle than tuna, salmon, or albacore but they somehow made it incredibly memorable from the freshness. Definitely order the hamachi with pomegranate. I loved the flavor with the ponzu and that it wasn't just the basic jalapeño combo. There was a Singaporean crab garlic butter noodle dish they made once that was incredible though sadly seemed to be on the menu that time only. This was my absolute favorite entree they've offered so far. The gem lettuces Caesar salad is amazing although unfortunately, both times I've ordered it without cheese, they forgot. The boquerones (anchovies) are a gem (ha) that really adds to the salad and I love the texture from the herb crust. Their signature shrimp toast has a good crunch from the sesame seeds and distinct pieces of shrimp rather than mush inside and the ikura on top adds another good layer of flavor. The vegetable curry was rich, flavorful, and savory witbout being too heavy with perfectly cooked potatoes that didn't just hide in the sauce in a way that actually didn't make me miss the meat. The short rib curry had such tender meat and the roti made in house was actually a major highlight for me as it was so flaky, hot, crispy and had an amazing garlic flavor. The chocolate pot de creme had a good orange zest flavor to add to the chocolate and wasn't too rich or heavy though the texture was thicker. The calamari had super crispy batter so didn't associate it as much with a lighter tempura one but the lemons in it and the roasted garlic marinara sauce it came with were so good and added a lot of depth. The butter curry prawns has SUCH well cooked shrimp - flavor was amazing. Miso salmon was good though crispy skin side up would have been better personally. I liked the olive oil flavor in the vinaigrette and the lemon with veggies on the side as well. The tres leches was surprisingly light for a cake and very moist so I enjoyed a lot and the caramel ice cream wasn't overly sweet. The lychee vodka drink is my favorite (came with a drink pairing they offered with Sunday omakase) and the imperial gold yuzu cocktail is better for those who like a stronger drink. The grilled asparagus was cooked to a tenderness with great flavor from the crispy onions on top that have somehow made it among my top favorite dishes here, despite it just being a small side vegetable dish but I didn't like asparagus until this! I would definitely recommend coming here for dinner over brunch personally, as those have been my most memorable bites. Definitely order the yellowtail sashimi, shrimp toast, gem lettuces Caesar salad! Hoping the garlic butter crab noodles, grilled asparagus with crispy onions, and housemade roti reappear on the dinner menu!

We arrived around 4:00 p.m. on a Monday and had no trouble finding parking. We stayed for about three hours and paid $10. The location is right on the Third Street Promenade across from Barnes & Noble. There's a really cute photo opportunity when you first walk in, then you head upstairs via the escalator to check in. We visited on a Monday and took advantage of their Monday-Wednesday $20 unlimited golf special. With kids, this is absolutely the best value. You can also pay per course if you prefer. There are three themed 9-hole courses: White (main floor), and Red and Yellow upstairs. After each course, Hole 9 has a ball return, so you'll need to get a new ball before starting the next course. My 5-year-old's favorite part was actually using the ball vending machines--we ended up trying every color by the end of the night! We played Red, then Yellow, then White, and afterward went back to replay our favorite holes. The staff estimates about 30 minutes per course, but we took our time and spent around two hours golfing before heading to the restaurant for dinner. The atmosphere was great--fun early-2000s music, lots of seating in the restaurant, a cozy upstairs alcove, and outdoor patios on both levels. They even have servers who come to your course to take drink orders while you're playing. A special shout-out to Elvis, who was phenomenal. He was our server while we golfed and again during dinner--friendly, energetic, attentive, and just genuinely made the experience better. For dinner we ordered the Happy Hour burger with fries, a kids' cheese pizza, and a side of carrots. The food was solid--I'd compare it to Applebee's or Yard House. Unfortunately, after Elvis went on break, service dropped off significantly. We were ignored for quite a while and eventually had to walk to the bar to ask for drink refills and to-go boxes. It felt like the venue caters primarily to adults, and as a parent with a young child, we felt a little overlooked. That said, Elvis actually came and found us after his break to check if we needed anything else, which really spoke to how great his service was. The courses themselves are creative and unique, with some fun trick shots and obstacles that kept both adults and kids entertained. The only downside was that it was pretty warm inside. The air conditioning was running, but it struggled to keep up. I also think the courses are close enough together that they could feel crowded during busy evenings or weekends. Overall, we had an amazing time and will absolutely be back. If you're bringing younger kids, I'd recommend visiting on a weekday afternoon like we did--it was quiet, relaxed, and perfect for our 5-year-old. We made a whole afternoon of it with mini golf, dinner, and another round of our favorite holes before heading home.

The actual indoor mini golf is only 9 holes so it's just enough to have a bit of fun without it dragging on. Our server, Elvis, aka the Big Dill, was amazing! Loved his outfit and his energy. He was kind, energetic, and helpful from the get-go. Was very on top of getting us drinks and settled in asap. He let us know when all our food was ready as we were playing (we had everything pre-ordered) and was just attentive and great overall. The food itself was pretty mediocre, but I didn't have high expectations there so it was pretty on par (golf pun intended).

July 2026, I think there were watch parties here for FIFA games. These games are during work hours. Well, I decided to come here for a Singles Meetup. Where is everyone? The bartender showed me a menu which I could order food that will be delivered from The Brixton. Scan the QR code to order. "Sorry, we aren't accepting orders at the moment..." I guess I could finish my beer, pay my tab and go searching for something good to eat. She didn't know the Wi-Fi password neither because they changed the password. Why broadcast the guest Wi-Fi if you aren't going to make it available? There was no organizer for the meetup event. With only a handful of people here, do I want to wait for the karaoke session? It's time to go eat somewhere else.
