We were a group of seven. We went in to have cocktails and snacks around 10 PM. The place is very well kept inside. Our server was prompt and efficient. The margaritas are very expensive for the small size you get. A house margarita half the size of a water glass is $13. My guava margarita was delicious, and everyone seem to like their drinks but the Cadillac margaritas were $18. Mercy Lord! We came her to celebrate my father in laws birthday, Venice is his hometown and this restaurant has been a staple to the community. It's been around since the 1960's It was my first time and I wondered what was good? My husband said he used to come as a kid and he remembered they had homemade flour tortillas! I went for the carnitas plate and it was everything I wanted and more. Tender and savory with the right amount of salt. You get a flour tortilla and make yourself a taco with beans, carnitas some guacamole and pico de gallo. STOP!!!! Chefs kiss. I want to go back just thinking about it. My husband got the quesadilla with chorizo and papas and he really enjoyed that served with beans de la olla. I need to go back. Services was good. Ambiance was quaint and comfortable. I just have to give a shout-out to Francisco Cruz at La Cabaña in Venice. I went there for lunch with my wife, and we both loved it. He made us feel right at home--like we were just hanging out with friends. He helped us pick out the food, the drinks--especially a delicious beer he served us--and he was super friendly. We even talked about soccer! The food was incredible--the guacamole, the tacos he recommended, and those garlic shrimp were just amazing. And on top of that, the price was super reasonable for a Chilean on vacation. I'm so grateful--I've been to a lot of Mexican places, but this is the first one that really made me feel at home. I also like the guacamole, which is fresh and can be ordered mild or spicy. I wash it all down with a spicy michelada made with Modelo beer. We love this place! The staff is the reason we always come back. Yes, the food is good, but the La Cabana team goes above and beyond to take the best care of us. We have been going there for 15 years and it's almost entirely the same guys. They take pride in their work and it shows. Don't get wild with your order here. This place usually is very nice. The outdoor patio is where to be weather permitting. Came here yesterday and ordered some al a carte enchiladas because I wasn't that hungry. I got the full plate instead that was $23, when it should've just been $14. This is probably because another person that came with us ordered 2 enchiladas with "rice and beans" so I'm guessing they assumed I wanted the same. It has no salt. There's no sautéed vegetables they need to upgrade. This salad comes from 1970. I really feel like they need some improvement, but my husband's burrito was fabulous. I accidently removed my most recent review--brain dead me. La Cabana is a local place in Venice, but they love to see tourists. The staff is super kind and the place is spotless. Parking is on the street or their lot. It is not a problem. The prices are super fair. They have full bar and make great margaritas. All of their food is great. We love their rice and beans and all of their soups are great. My grandson loves their burritos and their chicken tacos. I always order an enchilada. The best thing about La Cabana, besides the great service, are their home made tortillas. They are served hot and right off the loving hands of the person who made them. They are the best tortillas ever. You have to have them and put some butter on them. You will be in heaven. read more

La cabana is a little mexican restaurant that is hidden in venice ca. If you pass by here in your car you would probably miss the spot. But this is one of those places you wanna go try out if your in the area. Today i tried el plato de barbacoa and it was very good. There was a good taste in the meat that I really enjoyed and the quality of the eat was on point. When I was biting into the meat it was super soft and the juice just flowed well when you bit into the meat. The tierra and mar plate is also really good the carne asada was also cooked to perfection and i liked that the meat was so soft that when you bit into the carne asada you werent wrestling with it to eat it. Over all really liked this place and I would definetely go back to it in the future. We waited an hr for our food to be delivered. Not a problem at all. It's Saturday night. But not separating the cold sides from the hot fried food is upsetting. Don't get me wrong, this place has been delicious every time but having to toss two dishes isn't ok. In my opinion, this is the best Mexican food in the city I usually get it to go, but sometimes I do dine in and both experiences are awesome When I get it to go, they are ready within 10 to 15 minutes and that's even when I'm ordering for two people They made a mistake they go above and beyond to correct it They rarely make a mistake Bean and cheese burrito. The food here is just ok. The complimentary chips are really good but the salsa is more of an enchilada sauce. I ordered the asada burrito the last time I was there and the meat wasn't very flavorful. I'm still giving it 5 stars because the service is really good and the margaritas are delicious.
