The Works cheesesteak with bell peppers, mushrooms, and provolone cheese. Delicious!

When in Philadelphia ... go to Campo's for Philly Cheese Steaks! I ordered The Works cheesesteak with mushrooms, bell peppers and provolone cheese. The line was moderate but moving for the lunchtime, but the team at Campo's was prompt, attentive and accurate with my order. The small tables in the dining area are quaint but cozy and encourage people to chat about the sights and see what people are doing next. Great for the cheesesteaks and the conversation. Highly recommend.

I had a pleasant experience with the owner and his daughter, who were both courteous and efficient. They suggested popular sandwiches and ensured that my husband's preferences regarding vegetables were met. A little cheesecake complemented our meal, and paying with cash resulted in a lower charge. My husband and I shared sandwich which was good.

Come to Philly on a random Friday and Wifey and I wanted a cheesesteak. Checked what was close to our hotel AND where neither of us had eaten previously. So Campo's was the choice. Oldest cheesesteak place in Philly Wifey got the Chicken Works and I got the regular Works cheesesteak (we did halfsies), got some Cole slaw and we each had a beer. (Side note, New Jersey's stupid rules about alcohol really are dumb...places would make SO much more money if it wasn't so stupidly expensive and hard to get a liquor license). The place wasn't packed at all and the lady at the register was SOOO friendly. I'm sure this place gets crazy at times, but it was a really chill atmosphere. We both loved the sandwiches. They ain't giving them away, and the aren't huge like some of the touristy spots, but they were delicious and we walked away FULL. If you haven't tried Campo's...you should.

The cheesesteaks from here are pretty watery, and there wasn't much flavor to it. The staff who work here are not the friendliest either. They have a window that is open, which lets pigeons come into the restaurant, which is not appetizing while eating. It's also pretty small inside not a whole lot of places to sit.

This is probably our least favorite on this trip. The Philly cheesesteak bread was soft and the rib eye and cheese wasn't mixed well together. The sandwich was light as we knew immediately It's not as hefty as other places. For the price of the cheesesteak this is not worth it. Flavor wise not the best. We also ordered a pork sandwich which to our surprise didn't come with any vegetables and it's just provolone fried onions and pork. The pork was tough and not shredded and mixed well together. It's literally just gravy mixed into the pork. I would skip this one.

So I'm reviewing the Campos that is located in Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies! My wife and I actually was in the Market St area but didn't want to eat at the time. The guide for our tour told us the ballpark location was just as good as the downtown location. Anyway...got a Philly cheesesteak just as the locals suggest. I had cheese wiz with onions. My wife got the provolone with onions. If you think you don't like cheese wiz, maybe you think it's fake cheese, try it anyway. It's pretty good! The video likely will not do it justice, but included it anyway! Got to try Campos, ballpark or on Market street when you're in Philly!

I'm not a Philly native so not an expert but as a visitor to Campos , I recommend checking it out. Shared a cheesesteak sandwich with everything ( I personally liked Campos additions of onions, mushrooms and peppers) and we tried their potato salad. Both were super tasty and the service was really friendly. The recommended sides made from mom are a must to share. I liked the potato salads a lot. It has more of a vinegar based profile, which coming from the west coast I'm so used to just basically mayo-based potato salads. They are fine but can be heavy, this was totally the opposite and has us craving more. The cheesesteak itself has a nice soft bread and was filling. Each bite was well portioned and the toppings were well distributed. Maybe a good spot for your cheesesteK tour as there's another cheesesteak spot just a few steps down. I like their location being centrally located next to a subway exit. Literally once you get back to street level we were just a few steps from the entrance. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Fair warning we were surrounded by little birds when we ate outside. I don't encourage feeding them but they are obviously used to humans and aren't afraid to beg for food. If that's not your thing I recommend sitting indoors.

Hey friends! Not sure how I missed the three stars on Yelp, but I was excited to try this place and was unfortunately let down lol. The cheesesteak was mediocre. Something that I could get from Charley's. The Mac and cheese, was....weird. Not flavorful at all but sweet. This seems like a tourist trap as it's downtown close to Penn's Landing lol. -Customer service was great. - Bathroom needed some attention. -Too pricey for the quality. I don't recommend if you're looking for an authentic cheesesteak.

On a recent trip to Philadelphia, the Mr. and I were on the hunt for the *best* cheesesteak. There are lots of options in Philly, so after reading tons of reviews I narrowed down our choices. One of those choices was Campo's Philly Cheesesteaks. We ordered two sandwiches so we could try more options. One with provolone cheese (not sharp) and one with cheese whiz. Both had grilled onions and peppers. Ultimately, he preferred the one with whiz while I liked the one with provolone best. These are huge sandwiches. There was no way I could have eaten a whole one by myself. We ate outside and enjoyed the atmosphere very much.

Is it OK if get deeply personal for a second? One strange thing about dating apps in 2025 is how many "moderate" political types there are. And how can one be "apolitical" in these times? But I did get slightly apolitical on the cheesesteak front during my New Year's Eve visit. Going to the midnight fireworks, then taking a bus in the rain and waiting on a long line at Pat King's of Steaks is a memory from my younger days, and by that I mean early 50s. With a rare chance for a fireworks doubleheader, I figured I'd stay nearby. Yeah, I wondered if going to something in this tourist-friendly block was akin to dining at a Times Square Applebee's but figured Campo's would be fine since it was open since 1947. I enjoyed The Works. The peppers and mushrooms allow you to feel healthy for a few seconds. The ribeye was juicy. It didn't have the over-the-top meltiness of my favorite steaks. The workers were friendly. I realize that Pat's doesn't have the Reddit seal of approval, and that even in this neighborhood the gatekeepers prefer Sonny's, but I'm happy that I checked out Campo's rather than traveling great distances in pursuit of indie cred.

My wife and I are visiting from Las Vegas. We had 5 different cheesesteak restaurants. This was by far the best. They even had gluten free bread which my wife loved. That almost never happens. Family owned and operated.

Wow was this delicious or what. I never knew a morning cheesesteak was something I'd been missing from my life, but thankfully campo's fixed that in the best way possible. I got The Works which is a cheesesteak + onions, mushrooms, and peppers and my oh my was it the right choice. Whether youre on a cheesesteak tour or just want one that hits the perfect way, do yourself a favor and try this one.

Cute restaurant in old city with homey vibes. I ordered a cheesesteak with fried onions and it came out in like 30 seconds. Service was super nice & quick. Cheesesteak was disappointing. It was thin and not very full compared to other cheesesteaks I've had. The steak was slightly dry and it tasted unseasoned. It wasn't very cheesy and the onions were slightly raw. Not good value considering the price. I would honestly just consider going to Sonny's or somewhere else.

We arrived with a party of 7 and no reservation but were seated quickly with no hassle. The bartender appeared to be doubling as the server but took great care of us. This place treated me and my company terribly and they turned us away they must be making so much money that they could just be mean to whoever they want. We wasted like an hour of our precious time that night recently. It was 1am Saturday night (technically Sunday). He said last call was done and proceeded to kick us out rather than letting us wait there for our Ubers. However there were tons of other people there and he was fine with that. We were well-mannered and did not deserve to be treated that way. The bartender guy even flicked his middle finger at my best friend who is a gentleman that tried to capture a video of the establishment name and him. So he was brazen and bold to be nasty to us. It could've even been due to the color of our skin, and I am saying this as a patriotic Republican (meaning I do not cry "racism" for everything), but I will call it out as I see it. To prove this is a true review and story I've attached a video of the bartender who flicked us off and you can hear a girl in our group talking about how rude he was.

It's possible the bagels weren't fresh when we visited (Tuesday morning). I ordered a cereal latte and a mango smoothie. The coffee was fine but not something I'd order again, while the smoothie was really good and something I would recommend. While dining in, the overall presentation felt more like a cafeteria experience than a sit-down café. We were given plastic to-go utensil sets, plastic cups, plastic straws, and our food was served on a baking sheet. The overwhelming use of plastic felt underwhelming for dining in and didn't align with the price point, especially when the average coffee + bagel total exceeds $15. Service: The staff was friendly overall, but not very mindful of professional behavior while working. While the atmosphere is meant to be relaxed, one barista was sitting on the countertops and taking personal calls on speaker, which felt off-putting as a customer. Ambiance: It's a nice open space with great natural lighting and plenty of seating. Overall, it's a good place to work, hang out, and get caffeinated.
