On the second visit, my husband had stomach problems and I suspect dairy was somehow inadvertently used. On the third visit, I thought it may have been a fluke, my husband getting sick and so we ordered what we had the first time but this time I got sick. So, I'm not sure if there is dairy in the syrup or if they accidentally used cow milk in our lattes. Too bad too, because the flavors were tasty. We also appreciated the donuts from Doughside Donuts. I hope this can be handled in a compassionate but practical way so customers can continue to enjoy the great food and service that Naked Cafe provides.

After just one visit, wanted to share this gem with weekday travelers! This small deli is located about midway between the Flower Fields and the Leo Carillo Ranch. In a business complex called The Campus, the entrance is hidden in a garden setting so look for the big umbrellas and listen for the sound of water! They have a variety of sandwiches so it's difficult to choose and also offer daily Korean specials. One day it's curry chicken, another day bibimbap, another day spicy bulgogi etc. Seated among mostly business folks in the oasis, my nephew enjoyed his curry and the rest of us had nothing but praise for the delicious sandwiches! Due our scene at the register, the nice owner came out briefly to say hello and thanked us for coming. Now that's real customer appreciation and service! This sandwich shop is hidden away in a commercial building complex of Carlsbad. It borders onto the Palomar airport (north side). 3/5 stars - Location. It really is hard to find. No signage to assist in getting you to the goal of lunch. It's like finding a lost city. 4/5 stars - Price. Average price for a sandwich is about $7. 3/5 stars - Service. Employees seem a little confused. And if you haven't been there before, you don't quite know how you're going to get the sandwich (because they assume you know already ...) 5/5 stars - Food. The sandwich is very good. I ordered the Caliente Club - turkey, crispy bacon, pepperjack cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, mayo on jalapeño cheese bread. Delicious. Overall a 4/5 experience. What made it worse was both employees looked annoyed about it right after they had just given another customer a cup with her order. At that point I said never mind -- because that $.75 just cost this business every future dollar I would have spent here. Customer service and common courtesy still matter, especially toward regular customers, and this was a terrible way to treat someone who supports the business several days a week. Had I chosen a bag of chips, the once he pointed at were also extra charge just like if I ordered pasta salad, I found out about the extra charge from the lady that brought me the sandwich and I asked why my bill was $24 dollars, SHE, not the owner told me about the extra charges. After I said to her, "why didn't or doesn't the owner tell you so instead of saying that these extras come with the sandwich" she looked at me and said "I don't know". She didn't even know however any of the prices of the sandwich they sell. These are the new employees now. I know you are going to think why I didn't ask right away why my bill was $24 dollars. I didn't even think about it immediately, I was hungry at this point, the place was quite busy and I wanted to find a place to sit, no excuse, but didn't think about it right away. Not until I set down and then started thinking about why my bill was higher. That was my fault. I should have immediately asked and actually I should have gone to the owner afterwards and mentioned to him that he should tell the customers correctly, meaning do NOT SAY "IT COMES WITH" that means IS NOT EXTRA CHARGE. He needs to say that wherever we want with it, there is an extra, then up to the customer if he/she wants it or not. The sandwich did not taste like the way it used to taste, meatballs still small but they were very salty, and the fries although I will say cooked pretty nice, crispy and all, a very small portion and also very salty. Overall and sadly for me because I truly liked this place a lot with the previous owner, it's not a place I would go back to. The prices are as high and now higher than any other place nowadays, nothing spectacular, their bakery department is now very limited, used to be huge and very nice selections, they used to have a pastry chef in the back that made the best deserts, and I don't know if they also changed cook, but nothing tastes the same. The place is always very busy, so I am sure I won't be missed, I won't waste my money here again. The new owners should by now know what they sell, know how to interact with customers better, know the job they took over. The owners before were absolutely wonderful and great to talk to, they would interact with you ask you if everything was ok, great service from the staff. On my first visit I tried the Italian sub, it had a good portion of meat and cheese, a soft chewy delicious sub roll and the veggies were fresh and crunchy. Friendly service too!

My friend got the Balboa and said she was expecting the bread to be more crusty outside but that the chew was great and that the sandwich was overall "pretty darn delicious". I shared the bacon egg and cheese with a friend and my only gripe is that I chose to share it because it was delicious! It's the best egg sandwich I've had in CA in the 10 years I've been here. Also, generous amount of bacon , fluffy eggs, and the bread is fresh. Yum! I've a couple of other sandwich halves to try, the Jimmy Buffet with fresh hamburger and a build your own cold ham sub. I'll follow up with more review of those after I try the but I'm pretty sure they'll be great. I shoulda took pics, but alas I forgot. Anyhow, get you some (or a lot!)

We came for breakfast, and even though it's a small place, we were seated immediately -- at what is apparently becoming our regular table (twice so far ). The food is great! Connie, the owner, is wonderful and loves to chat. We heard a little of her story from someone else, which makes us even happier to support a local, family-run business.
