Please, do NOT be put off by the fact that it is in a strip center. Be HAPPY and GRATEFUL for the parking‼ I found myself looking for a nearby, spot on, go to "Cobb Salad". I had just been to their "sister" restaurant "The Black Rail" for a wonderful Monday burger, fries and glass of wine special. That is what led me next door to Tinleaf. So, I went alone for lunch...ordered the " West Coast Cobb" salad, an order of extra crispy Belgian French fries and a lovely Chardonnay. When ordering French fries...you get your choice of SEVEN dipping sauces‼‼ The Garlic, Chive Aioli is a winner‼ My West Coast Cobb featured panko-crusted chicken breast, bacon bits, hard-boiled egg, Gorgonzola cheese, cucumber, tomatoes, avocado and lovely mixed greens with a Buttermilk dressing. Is that NOT "Heaven in a Bowl"⁉ My fries were plentiful and perfect. The garlic chive aioli sauce was outstanding for the fries and ALSO for the panko-crusted chicken. I noticed a VERY brisk take out vibe going on. And, I'm going to keep this in mind. BECAUSE...my salad and fries could have easily fed TWO people. I, however, ate EVERY bite. I'm thinking...if I take it "to go" I'll get home and only eat HALF and store the rest away. It could happen‼ I'm looking forward to working my way through the menu...Meatloaf Sandwich, Turkey Pot Pie, Tri Tip Steak Salad, Grilled Salmon Sandwich. TINLEAF FRESH KITCHEN @ CARLSBAD Parking is very tight, and it does get extremely busy since this place is shared with a bunch of other businesses and restaurants. That said, it's honestly a good kind of busy, the complex is super lively, and I absolutely love that vibe. I'd definitely recommend trying to find parking as quickly as you can, but we were able to snag a spot within about five minutes. I like how easy the set up is, you walk in, look at the menu, order and pay right away, then sit wherever you'd like while the food is brought out to you. Overall, the food quality was pretty decent. My family and I ordered family-style and tried a variety of items, including their salads, a mushroom plate, and the salmon. Everything was really good, although the salmon was a bit overcooked. I especially loved the fries that came with the salad. One thing I really liked is that they offer a lot of different combinations, so you can do something like half a sandwich with a soup or salad, or mix and match depending on what you're craving. They also have a convenient water station in the back corner, which is super handy. There's also an outdoor patio area, and it's such a cute spot, perfect for lounging with a drink, sandwich, or appetizer. Overall, I'd definitely recommend stopping by for a quick lunch with friends. Amazing takeout! I was feeling not so great and wanted something relatively light. The salmon is cooked to perfection and the stuffing was delicious. I also got some quinoa as well and a salad. The salad was super fresh! I enjoyed my meal and felt that everything felt very well flavored. I kept raving about the salmon because it was so simple and fresh with a buttery taste. Been here a few times and the food has been good. It's a quaint place located in a strip mall that has indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the register, take a number, then the food is brought to you. They have various sandwiches, salads and entrees. For this visit I finally tried the Thanksgiving on a Bun with a side salad. It came with gravy in a condiment cup. The sandwich was ok, a bit dry so the gravy was definitely needed. I was expecting stronger "Thanksgiving"flavors but it just tasted like a turkey sandwich with a hint of Thanksgiving. But I'm glad I was able to try it nevertheless. read more

I have never had a bad meal here. Everything is very, very good. The food is extremely fresh and of high quality. I won't even say it's expensive because you really get what you pay for here. This time we went with the West Coast Cobb Salad which was amazing and the Tri Tip French Dip which I loved. The bread, meat, lettuce, avocado, everything was super fresh. First time trying this place and hadn't heard of it until I saw their instagram and it peaked my interest. When you walk in, you walk up to the front to order and then purchase until it's ready and a server comes out. The portions are huge and they have a wide assortment of sides to chose from. The pricing is fair - about $20 per person but if you don't have a huge appetite it's definitely something you can share! The food was very fresh and I liked their house dressing for the salad. As for the vibe of the restaurant, there was plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. The mood is more casual, as you order at the front and choose your own seats. Service was very good, even though it was casual, but the waitress came over to make sure our food was good. The only reason I rated this place 4 stars is because my salmon was a little overcooked. This was our first time here and what a treat it was. With all of my food sensitivities, they have so many options for me and hubby found numerous items he wanted to try. Everything was cooked to perfection; so fresh, farm to table-like, and tasty! They make everything on the spot, so not pre-made, including the dressings. This place is a great go to! The coconut crusted French toast is beyond good as well as the smoked salmon potato pancakes. They did change the potato pancakes to a different version and they were better before but still good. Also like their rotating specialty coffees. Not sure how this is called Fresh Kitchen, food was far from fresh. We ordered 2 French dips, one with horseradish, one without. Well both came without. sandwiches were warm at best and fries were cold. Ordered kids trip tip, which was ice cold as if it came out of the fridge. Sent it back and it was microwaved and when it returned there was lint on the fries. So we sent it back again and asked for a whole new plate and not to microwaved. The worker has an attitude and rudely snaps "we don't even have a microwave" and walked away. Also ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with was soggy and cold fries. Cafeteria style restaurant. You have to order at the counter and then take a number and pick your seat. There is a drink station in the restaurant with a container for water and a soda machine. Paper towels and utensils are also at the same place. You have to collect your own paper towels and utensils. There is seating inside as well as outside on the patio. Quite a lot of space. It looks a little dark in the restaurant and we chose to sit outside. My husband ordered the turkey entree with two sides - stuffing and mashed potato. He commented that the turkey and the food tasted microwaved. And he didn't really like it. My entree i ordered was charsiew entree with brussel sprouts and bokchoy with mushrooms. The charsiew was a little dry at parts but the colour looked a little off. It came with not what I would consider charsiew sauce and brown mustard- which is a very weird combination. Also the charsiew tasted a little like duck to me. The brussel sprouts look like they were made from frozen brussel sprouts and was very mushy. It was definitely not fresh. The bokchoy was sautéed to death it was also mushy. The only saving grace was the shitake mushrooms. After lunch, both of us were having tummy issues. We probably will not go back again. read more

I can make a whole meal out of their large, shared fries and, indeed I have and the Basil Mayonnaise that you can get with them is a perfect accompaniment! I also love their Seared Ahi, both as a Salad and as a Sandwich, It's super healthy, low in fat, and the greens and bread they serve it on is always fresh. Their Salmon entree is also exquisite. What better way to score some health conscious Omega 3's?! This is twice lately that I have been ill from eating food here. Last night we got two salmon salads, salmon was cold and raw. I ate a little around the edges, and woke up with severe abdominal pain. In addition, my husband who is extremely allergic to gluten and dairy was sick for two weeks after eating the Beef bourguignon meal, after been told at the counter it was gluten and dairy free. So disappointed that I have to write this review but honesty is key. The fries were fine but not the best, I tried the curry ketchup hoping it would be just as amazing as the one I had in San Fran but it was more like regular ketchup with a very small hint of Indian spices. Nothing good. I got the avocado, lettuce and tomato sandwich and the basil sauce was so overpowering that's all I tasted and I had to pick off a lot of parts because they were old. Used to come regularly but noticed that surcharge today and really don't like that (never really noticed before because I don't usually get a receipt after tipping).
