When this place opened I was very excited because it would be a great addition for this area. However, after coming here for a few times, I have to say I am quite disappointed at their service. When I entered the cafe I was not welcome properly, the waitress did not even look at me when I entered. I stood behind the counter for a while before she raised her head from the cashier, and she didn't even give a smile...when she handed me the coffee it was too full that it almost spilled out, and she just head-pointed to the cup covers indicating I could go get it by myself. Seriously, by this level of decorations and price, I expected better services than this. This is not even a basic level for a cafe. Really hope the service can get better. read more

I was excited that Canada Water was going to have somewhere new to relax with a coffee and possibly something to eat, somewhere new to help break up the lego land style buildings nearby. I walked past the cafe every morning on the way to work, looking most days to see how it was progressing. Last weekend I spotted a sign saying the cafe was open late serving pizza so a few days later I went to check out the cafe. Unfortunately I left just after an hour later feeling gutted and very disappointed. So Canada Water cafe does some things quite well, it is decorated to a high standard and it has a good bottled beer selection and is very well located for Canada Water station and library. On a less positive note the service was at best average with people being served out of turn and people not being welcomed properly when entering the cafe. Whilst the cafe is decorated to a high standard the tables are so squashed together it feels uncomfortable. The pizza was admittedly nice but not amazing with the takeaway nearby in Albino Street selling equally nice if not slightly better pizzas. My partner ordered the calzone which I thought looked good but I was told afterwards tasted bland. I really hope the disappointing visit was down to the newness of the café as it has such good potential given its location and start interior. read more

Ate here four times while on vacation. Three of those occasions for brunch. I just fell in love with the ham Benedict, it was that good ! I also tried the plain croissant and a danish which were both yummy. My boyfriend had the eggs, spinach and goat cheese with the dark sourdough toast, which was very rich in flavor, he also had the breakfast burger which he also enjoyed. We had the bruschetta and the margherita pizza for takeaway one night and both were quite good. This place reminds me of the numerous small and simple cafes I used to go to in France for a small set lunch without breaking the bank. Funny that, most of the waiters at the Canada Water Cafe are actually French. Perfect for breakfast or lunch, their lunch menu changes every day and offers one dish of pasta, one main meal and a few different pizzas. Having sadly only tasted the mains (I really wanted a pizza, but I was being good), the food was good - although not amazing (their salad dressing is a bit bland, and very oily) - but overall a good value. When I saw the hoardings in the summer saying that a cafe would be coming to Canada Water, I was excited, but very curious to see what kind of place would evolve inside the wooden chrysalis. The result is unbelievably good. The owners have really invested in building a very attractive and high-end cafe. I was excited to see another cafe open in my neighbourhood. I have only been there for breakfast (so can't comment on lunch or dinner). I love the look and feel of the place and the food and coffee were really good. However, the place didn't blow me away, and it will most likely not replace the cafe at Surrey Docks farm as my favourite breakfast place in the area. However, I love that it opens early on a Sunday, so will be back once in a while for breakfast and will definitely need to check it out for dinner some time. They have created a great little cafe, with a really nice atmosphere. There's been a lot of attention to detail, and has an atmosphere of real care for the customers. It's actually a very small space, and they have done very well to use this small space as best they can. Because it's so busy, the staff have to work very hard. When it first opened, like another reviewer said, I found the staff to be actually quite rude and inconsiderate. You could stand there for a long time and no one will even acknowledge you, it was really quite bizarre, almost as if the staff didn't realise it was their job to serve customers. But that seems to have improved hugely recently, there are some very nice people in there serving now. Where it starts to go wrong, is no fault of the owners or the staff. It's just too busy. Because there is pretty well nothing else to do, or nowhere else to go in the area, it means that by default anything opened in the area will succeed. There is an enormous demand for facilities in Canada Water, because thoughtless, and commercially driven urban planning has not allowed enough space for stores, coffee shops, or anything else to improve the quality of life in the area. So there's a huge opportunity for anyone opening a business here. And the new Canada Water cafe is doing absolutely fantastic business very quickly as a result. But basically don't even try to go there on a Saturday lunchtime or during the weekend. It's just too busy. A few minor points for correction: the coffee cups are FAR TOO SMALL. There is no way that paying that kind of money for coffee you should be so shortchanged on what you receive. It is certainly a little on the expensive side too. But generally, it's a lovely place to go when it's quieter. And there's some nice touches like the superb Kernel beer, great choice! read more

During our trip we stayed about 1 minute away from Canada Water Cafe and constantly passed by and it always smelled amazing! We finally went in one day and the food was just as amazing as the smell. Canada Water Café has a bit of a monopoly on the local area as there really isn't very much competition. Being the land of commuters this residential area doesn't have that many places to go for food, however even with that they are pretty good at what they do. In warm weather they have outside space, which although next to a road, is next to a very quiet road, and whilst it can get busy when it's colder, and at busy times, as they don't have a lot of internal tables, it's worth the wait for one. The décor is also great, I find it rather retro and 70's in feel - hipster central - with a lot of fun shapes and colours, creating a mismatched but comfy vibe. Keep an eye out for the details - I personally love the space age lights. I've been here for nibbles and drinks, coffee, brunch, lunch and dinner and I can safely say that I've enjoyed these all. They have some lovely craft beers, the mulled wine at Christmas was particularly fantastic and the food has always been tasty. Coffee is also pretty good, and you can grab yourself a cake / pastry too - although I haven't tried these. They do pretty good pizza's and the full English breakfast, whilst a far cry from the builders fry-up with its grilled vine tomatoes and sourdough bread, is a lovely way to start the morning. I'd definitely recommend as not only being the best in area (to my knowledge), but also very, very good and consistent in being great quality and thoroughly tasty. The only reservation I have about this place is price, it's reasonable, but on the upper side of that and it can be quite easy as the portion sizes aren't that big to get quite carried away. read more

We had a delightful breakfast today at Canada Water Cafe. After getting off the bus it took a minute to orient ourselves but, on the main floor of an office building, we came upon an outdoor sitting area of bright chairs and tables behind a matching bright picket fence. Very welcoming! Inside, we were greeted and seated immediately. I ordered the full breakfast of POACHED eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, and tomatoes. My DH ordered the salmon breakfast sandwich. Both dishes were AMAZING - they looked so good when they were brought to us, I forgot to take pictures! Poached eggs were perfect, the grilled mushrooms had tons of flavor, and the sausage was great. But, my fave part of the meal was DH's salmon sandwich, which was a nutty toast, fresh salmon, arugula greens (known as "rocket" on this side of the pond) and cream cheese. But it wasn't just the ingredients that made this an A+; the ratio of cream cheese and salmon to toast was the best ever! No "let's hold the salmon over the toast to give the illusion of a salmon sandwich" - same with the cream cheese. Anyway! We are in England for another six days and I know we will be back for breakfast again! read more

Canada Water Cafe is bit of an odd institution. They used to focus mainly on the production and service of pizzas and a good range of seasonal beers, wines and cocktails. Really good, top notch ingredients and friendly service. More recently they have gotten rid of most of the pizzas, jacked the prices up, reduced the portion sizes and put the tables so close together that it always feels cramped. In the old days I'd give it a 4 or 4.5 star but nowadays it deserves no better than a 3. Sad to see a good place go downhill. read more

Unfortunatelly, I can't say anything good about this restaurant because the way they treat you as a customer is absolutely outrageous. It is very hard to be seated in general when you come alone because one guest doesn't bring as much money as four guests, so they reluctantly give you a table when you're dining alone, and of course it's always the worst table you can get. The food isn't really very inviting either. The boring pizzas consist of cheap bread drowned in cheap tomato sauce with almost no toppings. The same goes for the salads--you need a magnifying glass to find anything that is not a salad leaf. The last straw was last week when I was refused a table in the early afternoon because I didn't want to eat something. I simply wanted a coffee which shouldn't have been too out of the ordinary for a café. I complained to a manager, but I was then told that they "have to do so as the café is so small". But this simply translates to, "We don't give a rats behind about our guests. We only want their money." The issue at hand is actually with management. There is almost more staff than there are guests, and this can indeed put a lot of pressure on a café to make money rather than focus on customer satisfaction. So, this terrible treatment of customers is actually a result of this inept management that runs this café. All of that said, this café is really by far one of the most hostile and uninviting cafés in London I've ever come across and should simply be avoided. read more

Not too impressed with the food from here. I have been here a few times and have always come out feeling that I have had better. The most recent was a take away order for a pizza that I felt had not really been made with much care. I got home and opened the box to find the onions had been piled up in the centre of the pizza, I thought that was rather odd, not sure if it was supposed to be like that. Otherwise, I recall the service being good in the past and the atmosphere being quite nice, but if you are looking for pizza in Canada Water, I would not recommend the Canada Water cafe read more

The place was really busy but we were seated within a few minutes and the service was great. The pastries looked amazing (and huge) but sold out by the time we ordered so we couldn't get any - boo! I live locally and come here all the time. Food is wonderful - I'm particularly a fan of the roast aubergine dish. Service is always friendly and attentive, even when they are super busy, which is most of the time. Love the decor, love the music, just plain love it all! Let others push ahead in the queue, got shoulder-barged / nudged by the staff three times whilst walking to the bathroom and back, asked for "no toast" and still got the toast and then was made to look like I had made the mistake. A friend was finally curious about something on the bill and got an aggressive "errrrrr" in response. The staff must have had training since the last reviews as we received great service despite having five tired children in tow. Excellent coffee but a bit on the expensive side. The place does look good although it can get really crammed at times.

Style over substance springs to mind. Beautifully designed interior, but from there on it goes horribly wrong. Coffee is only served in really small cups and don't even try asking for an extra hot latte!! Tea is served in horrible thick cups that make your first cup poured, albeit from an attractive pot, stone cold and undrinkable. All the previous comments about service are accurate, despite the staff all being lovely, no one seems to be in charge and the whole experience is chaotic and disappointing. Come on CWC, we've waited years for a place like this to come to the area and at the moment you're really letting us down - it wouldn't take much to pull it round. Buy some decent cups and pay for a manager who knows their stuff. read more

This is a real shame because it's the only place around Canada Water, and it's good pizza and calzone, if you can get it. So grateful for this cute little cafe/pizzeria for opening in Canada Water, the area is crying out for bars, restaurants etc. Really nice cafe, the varieties of teas is awesome - could perhaps have a lunch offer and a few more cakes but as far as breakfast goes this place has it nailed oh although don't serve french toast which is a shame! It doesn't have a lunch menu which I find really odd considering they serve a variety of breakfast options and even pizzas in the evenings. But great place to go for tea/coffee or a smoothie etc. Gets quite busy at the weekends as its not a big place. Located right by the station and next to a great yoga/exercise studio too! The real bonus (apart from it being the only cafe in the area!) is that it turns into a pizzeria in the evenings and even does take away. Not too sure about the staff they can get a bit shirty and aren't very helpful. But overall nice little independent cafe to grab a tea and meet a mate. read more
