Terrible experience at Bouchard's Auto. When I pointed out that my car lighter was missing, one of the guys actually tried to start a fight with me. I have a 2022 Outback Subaru, that is needed a sticker! I stopped by the shop and asked the mechanic if they can put a sticker on my car, without hesitation or even looking at the car he quickly responded to me by saying that is going to be a long wait even though there were no cars in the bay. This is actually my second times that I have gone to this shop and asking for services, in both visit I was refused service for being an Afro-American of which I could not find any other reasons for them for their refusal to provide me with service. This situation is definitely needed to be investigated to ensure all clients receive the same level of respect, and applying the same policies and procedures consistently to every customer, and avoiding any form of discrimination or favoritism; essentially treating everyone with fairness and dignity as a customer. read more

Having your car repaired is never something one looks forward too, but at this family owned and staffed business it comes as close as it can, to being an enjoyable experience. Mike and the "guys" are there to help you and not take advantage of your situation. I have never felt "taken", over charged, or pushed into work that I did not need. I was referred here for inspection sticker by a friend. 1st red flag "Inspections cash only $35". OK I had cash on me. Was instructed by tall gentleman in office area to "wait in car not sure how long before fitting me in". Blistering hot day so I said I'd wait in one of 2 empty chairs in air conditioned office (2nd red flag). Car pulled in 5 min later. "We have a problem" I'm told by same gentleman. Failed & I had 60 days to reinspect. I asked him to write down exactly what failed (I'm not a mechanic) & was told "it's on report". Asked for $35 receipt & was told "it's in the car" (3rd & 4th red flag). Asked how Bouchard would repair indicated "fail" & was told "I have no time for repair suggest you take to your regular mechanic...it's dangerous" (5th flag?). No receipt in car and all state inspection report indicated was "fail" suspension. If there is something deemed wrong with my car I'm making sure it's corrected. Took car to my very capable mechanic immediately who looked & agreed that right side in question needed replacement (again I'm not a mechanic), left was a little loose but not critical. Return to Bouchard for reinspection and I get the same "wait in your car not sure how long" runaround. I chose to wait in the air conditioned office...thank you very much. 5 min later "he didn't do left side". Told same tall gentleman "my mechanic said it didn't need to be replaced...there seems to be a difference of opinion". His response was "I'm always right". What's the flag count at this point? Back to my trustworthy mechanic & after much discussion about how I could proceed to get an inspection sticker without ever visiting Bouchard again, I decided to have my mechanic repair left side that in his opinion didn't need repair...only to move on with my life after a week of this BS. $$$ Round 3! Back to waiting in air conditioned office blah blah. Same tall gentleman. Got inspection sticker, will never set foot in this attitudinal place again & continue to spread word. read more

The people here were fantastic from the woman who originally made me appointment to the mechanics who worked on my car. They were kind and courteous, they always kept me informed, they fixed my car quickly, they didn't overcharge me or try to make me get things done unnecessarily. Looking for a good honest mechanic? Look here. Wife's car was making some noises that after my own diagnosis (via YouTube support) was the sway bar links - roughly 100-150 parts and 100 labor. Brought it to pep boys who gave me an estimate of almost 2000 (which included 4 new tires and some other stuff). A total upsell that just annoyed me. Brought it here for a 240 fix which was reasonable. Not only that, but I brought it in the morning, he told me he'd get to it that day and it would be ready by 2pm. It was, and it's fine now. Five Stars all the way. I have been bringing my cars to Bouchards for 10 years, and my parents much longer than that. Each time the repair is done incredibly promptly and correctly. I've had goobers at other shops leave vice-grips on the tie rod, but these guys aren't JV. They are honest, they are reliable, they are trustworthy. No matter what make or model I've owned, they have the expertise to fix it. I called about a week ago and left a message, two hours later and still no return call (I come from an industry in which return calls can make or break a deal, so I always get back to whom ever calls me within 15 minutes, I don't care how busy I am, a new customer is a new customer). Anyways, I spoke to a technician and or the man in charge, told me they were very busy, but, willing to take a look at what my problem was. So I drove down from my job in Newton (b/c of the reviews) to Salem and the whole time I am traveling the car is squeaking like mad. He get's in my car and took it for a spin, wouldn't you know the car barely squeaked at all. It's been squeaking for a month now, he states I heard a small noise and that is an easy fix. Drove me back to the shop, got out of the car and told me to bring it back when it squeaks. REALLY, why in hell do you think I brought it to you in the first place REALLY!!! He never told me what the easy fix was and he never offered to help, by telling me what availability they had at their shop. I will not be back, I am in an industry where customer service wins the deal and if he's so busy that he cannot offer an eta as to when they can look at my car, why would I waste my time going back, it is obvious they do not want my business. Too bad for them, because, now I'm staying with my mechanics at Town Line Garage in Lynn, that have never told me to bring the car back when I bring it to them with a problem from the get go. Oh and by the way the squeaking noise had to do with the leak in my transmission, once that was fixed, it never squeaked again. Thank you to Town Line Garage for taking time out of their busy scheduled to help me with my car problems. I highly recommend them, they do fair and honest work and they do not over charge on anything and they are interested in keeping my old car running in good shape. read more
