Really great service, very chill and welcoming atmosphere, fun and easy going crowd, very accommodating and hands on owners. Love what the new owners have done to make the Cantina great! Have been there the past couple of Friday's with friends to listen to the country band playing, but had my daughter's 7th Birthday party there yesterday for their second Family Sunday Funday. We had 20 kids in attendance, including my 2 year old son and my 3 year nephew, along with their parents/grandparents. Everyone in attendance had a ball and raved about what a great experience it was for the kids. My daughter danced on stage for five solid hours and it was the best day of her life. We'll definitely be back for as many upcoming Family events as we are able to get to. read more

I guess I'm a fan since its so close to home. Been here several times with my "Party Rock Crew"! Been here on both a Friday and Saturday. I like the atmosphere with the country bar indoors and the outdoor bar with the Top 40 or live band playing. Even got to see bull riding! If you come with a good group you'll enjoy. Just came back from there, our bartender (Natasha) left a lot to be desired. When I asked what beer was on tap she replied IPa, Lager and something else but it was clear she didn't really know esp. the brand. When trying to get her attention to get service we were ignored. Shr constantly was involved with conversations with bouncers/staff and on phone. Another customer I talked to gave her a zero tip, first time he did that to any wait person. She also never cleared the empty drinks from instant of me, it became a point just to see how many empty cans she would allow to accumulate. Horrible experience tonight. A man was in the women's bathroom. He left the door to the stall open. I saw his penis and told him that he was in the women's bathroom. He replied, " I had to pee." I went to security and pointed out the guy. He told them exactly what I said. One of the person in the group took one of security aside, to which she said it was a mistake; not true because after asking him ;by security he replied, " I had to pee." I said , "why would I pick on him?" He needs to be escorted out." But nothin was done. I had to leave because I didn't want to see the guy and was disgusted with security. The reason why it has taken me so long to review Cancun Cantina is because We have Been busy with the process of moving to Turkey ( we are finally here yay ).... but here goes. Our friends took us there for a little get together. And since then we have been coming back. The fact that it is very close to the base were we are currently station at (Fort Meade) always had a good experience. So if you are new/next duty station is Fort Meade this is a good place to have drinks , dance and meet people esp if you are single. It's roughly 15 min drive from the base or you can call a taxi to take you there. Friendly bartenders/staff, clean bathrooms, and fair priced beverages. This is a great place to hang out with friends, have a beer. You can put on your cowboy boots and hats and start line dancin the night away; the free line and 2 step dance lessons are popular and a good way to learn if you are interested and wana feel comfortable. If you are in the mood for pop and hiphop music, they have a dj on the other side as well. The only down side is the bathroom-- I'm speaking for the females side. One Very tight and small bathroom. So if you are out with your girls and like to go to the bathroom all together to chat , gossip , fix makeup, cry, laugh, and MAYBE use the bathroom, you will not enjoy all that In this venue. They have coat check in if you are going during cold winter season. Dress code: no hoodies or hats! Learned that the hard way:) read more

Well... this review, hmmmm is some fact and some personal opinion. Ok! some one I knew won a Happy Hour at Cancun Cantina. Here's the thing... I have lived in the area for a very very very very long time. I just had never been............because I had a feeling it wasnt for me. Well I figured I give it a shot. The happy hour was from 4-9. My bestie and I get there at 7 on a Friday in our knee boots, skinny jeans ready for some drinks. Well when we walked in gave our names... the front lady even gave us some crazy looks, like she new we were over dressed. Ok Ok Ok. We get to first bar we see. And we are like 2 of 5 women and 2 of 2 women under 50 at the bar except for the bartenders. Also we were 2 out of 5 that were not beige, I mena Im light and bright.. but not beige. It was surrounded by old men in their work clothes... and NOT nice work clothes. So we had received 2 drink tickets at the door, we agreed to at least stay through the 2 drinks. We see a sit down area behind the bar... lets go have a seat and order. Went to sit down. after waiting about 8 minutes we are informed that no body is taking orders. Get back up to go to the bar. Finally order 2 Orange Crushes... 90% orange juice 5% BUBBLES 5% liquor. Then We notice folks are eating... we then notice they are eating on paper plates. O___0 what the hell. Are yall serious, you cant even bring out regular plates. So sad. Anywho... we spot another room with people. We discover where the food is coming from, a .25 cent buffet. Yes buffet... it was filled with perogies, chicken nuggets, mac & cheese. Lawdy geezus help the people that were actually eating this crap. I can only imagine the next morning what your tummy feels like. Ok so now we are ready to blow this joint.. order our second drink. Seriously guzzled it down. Let this be fair warning... if you are used to parting in lounges, club and bar in DC, Fells Point, Federal Hill or downtown bmore. Pass on this place. read more

Cancun Cantina. Where to start. It has a bit of a stigma around the area. Either you mention it to someone and they're like, "Oh, I love that place, it's so much fun!" or they're like "Haha, isn't that the cowboy bar?" Yeah, both are partly true. Cancun sits off a main road and next to a residential area and near the airport. It's kind of in a weird spot, but I guess that's a draw; it's not near any other nonsense and has it's own parking lot. There are different special nights always happening at Cancun. Ladies night on Weds which gives you a $5 bottomless cup (chea!), happy hours, bands, motorcycle events, liquor promos, etc. Typical bar antics. There is a cover at night (not sure during the day) and it depends on the day and time of year sometimes. I'd call ahead if you're not familiar to plan your visit. There are the two infamous sides. You arrive in a hallway on the restaurant/"country side". There is a big dance floor where all the country gettin' down is happening. This side is frequented by older people and couples usually. Sometimes younger people with their cowboy hats and boots. You just have to walk through and try not to make faces and laugh at the line dancing that is happening 9/10 times. Sorry if this is your thing, but I find it more ridiculous than appealing. So, the other side is the "club side". Darker, strobe/neon lights, typical club atmosphere. The DJ plays whatever the new hit rap/pop type stuff is. Good luck trying to get a request in if you want, it's just too loud. You'll find scantily clad chicks who work there dancing on the bars, and a beer girl in a bikini serving up those bottles. There are three bars; more than enough to always have a full beverage in hand. My favorite part of Cancun is past all of this club stuff. It's the outdoor area with the white sand, tiki torches, and trees scattered about. It's really cool, I wish more places had areas like this. There are tables so you can relax/drink/smoke, whatever pleases you outside in the air. A refreshing option in a hot club. At Cancun, I'm just going to be blunt; there are usually a lot of trashy (mostly larger) women and a lot of disrespectful men. Disappointing, but if you're willing to ignore/deal with this, or bring a group of your own friends you will have a great time drinking and dancing. It's not really my type of place anymore, but I do cherish all the memories I made there! read more

This place is Huge and has a little something for everyone. But if you're looking for a velvet rope experience with face checks at the door, skip this place and head for the city. Cancun Cantina is pure suburbia... Everything from White Collar Professionals to Bikers, and a sprinkling of everything in between can make up the crowd on any given night. If you want to learn social dancing, this is your place for free lessons and large crowds of people that come to participate. Salsa on Sunday Nights, West Coast Swing on Tuesday Nights, and Country Line Dancing on Wed & Thursday Nights. If you want live music, look no further... Local Rock/Pop bands on Friday nights in the back bar area. Tropical Island steel drum music during happy our on the all sand rear tiki bar / beach area. And live Country bands every Friday & Saturday night in the main bar. On top of all that, Cancun Cantina is one of the FEW Baltimore area bars that offers FREE Food Buffet happy hours on Friday's. They also typically put out the same type of FREE food buffet later in the evenings around 10:00'ish when they have Salsa, West Coast Swing, and Country Line Dancing nights. They do have a regular menu that's made up of bar food, a large array of sandwiches and wraps, along with a few entrees too. But rarely do you see people here ordering from the kitchen unless they just need a little something to soak up the alcohol. Most people come here to drink, dance, listen to live music, and that's it. Lastly, the security staff at Cancun Cantina maintains a very visible presence with very large stationary and roaming security guys. You can expect bag and coat checks at the door, with dress codes that sometimes seems a little Draconian. But in all my years of going here, I've never seen a fight or a problem of any kind, so this isn't really a bad thing. read more

So me and my cousin were riding around on a saturday night and she asks me if I want to try something new. Of course, I reply because its rare I don't. However, when she said new, she was'nt lying. Mostly hanging out in the DC area lounges, bars, and clubs, I didn't expect to end up in Hanover and really really didn't expect anything like Cancun Cantina. Being a little black city girl, walking into a venue with a big bulls head on the roof, to see line dancing, cow boys, and hear country music, in a place I consider the middle of no where, I was totally caught off gaurd and wanted to run my ass out of there quick. Luckily, after a few minutes of entering and my cousin laughing her ass off at my freightened expression, she pointed me to another room and in it they played familiar music, had hot girls dancing on the bar, and lots of younger people like me. Thank God! That night me and my cousin had a blast, staring at the half naked waitresses in drunken envy, singing every song off beat, and playing in that disgusting beach sand out back. I'm not sure what to think about this place. I'm from Texas, so I'm constantly on the prowl for a true honky-tonk, but this one has me flat confused. Like other reviewers have said, half of the place is your typical bump and grind club, and the other half is a "country" bar and dancefloor. I'm more of the country type, so I stuck to the country side. The music tended more towards techno-country and was tailored for the line dancers in the crowd who seemed to dominate the dancefloor. The line dancers left the floor for a few songs, allowing people to two-step and swing, but it was few and far between. The crowd was pretty old as well (think 40-60), and the general feel was trashy, not classy. Waitresses were go-go clad and giving boob shots, and the "cowboys" seemed to be dressed up rednecks from Glen Burnie. There was a high percentage of males standing around the dancefloor drooling over the waitresses, and the female population that was there tended to be older cougar-looking types. The beach outside and the dancefloor playing the top 40 was an eclectic mix, but definitely seemed to be a group of people looking for someone to take home. If it were me, I would stick to DC, Annapolis and Baltimore. read more

This is usually a go-to place for me when my friends when I want more than a bar but less than a club. I can't review the country line-dancing side...I pass right by that part to go to the club-oriented half. The bartenders are always great and attentive, the drinks are inexpensive, and even the shot girls walking around offer good shooters pretty cheap. Needless to say, it's easy to get inebriated here. There's a decent amount of room and plenty of bathrooms. I've never had to wait in line. The music is always pretty good, and I love getting on stage with the girls on the platforms and dancing with them. :) Only knock is, if you're going here to troll for dudes or chicks, only count on maybe a shameful ONS. To be completely honest, this place doesn't attract the most attractive clientele...go to DTA for that. read more

I've been to this place a few times and can say that as a club it is not bad. The club is split into two. You've got your country and western side that usually has a live band playing and then you've got the more contemporary side which plays a lot more current music, has the go-go dancers, and seems to cater to a younger crowd. Honestly, I liked the more contemporary side, but the country and western was just as much fun. The drinks are okay but sometimes a little overpriced. We are Wednesday night regulars and visited the Cantina late tonight, a Friday, to do a little dancing. We were told by the rent-a-cop at the door that he was going to put his hands on my husband and Pat him down. I asked the rent-a-cop what kind of dangerous place this was turning into that you felt the need to touch other people? We declined and left. There is a cover charge and the drinks are expensive. If you're looking for a country bar this is no longer it except on Wednesday nights when they have very good country line dance lessons. read more

We came here last night for a Bachelorette party. Some patrons walked by but the front door attendant stopped me, asked for ID and said it would be a $7 cover charge. I walk in and don't see my friends. Then I start to think, am I in the right place? Cowboys and Cowgirls everywhere. I can fit in anywhere but I did feel slightly odd assuming the only other black person was the bartender. I sit and am immediately served. I ordered a Vodka with cranberry and pineapple for 5.75. Finally one of my friends come back and the are on the other side...never knew how huge this place was. The other side was old school Hip Hop. They even have an outdoor area. I start getting more drinks only to find out the price went up. Our group found that they kept charging us different prices. Hence, why I am giving them 3 stars because of the inconsistency. Also, the bathroom only has 3 stalls...there is no way a place that huge should have such small bathrooms. Overall, we had fun and since I work around the corner I might check out their happy hour with my team. read more

Holy Hell in a hand basket Batman! This place is something else, I tell you, OMG! Ok so I have been here a few times on a Friday night, and both experiences were pretty much the same. This is a mized club, meaning there are two seperate areas, one is primarily country line dancing kind of stuff and the other is a live band and DJ mix. Both areas offer plenty of opportunities to drink adult beverages, and the ladies walking around with "shots" will hound you until you buy one! I say "shots" liek that because they are more of a watered down variety, but hey for 2 bucks what do you expect. The staff there is really nice, the girls walk around half naked most of the time, some really shouldnt bother, but it is part of the atmosphere, which feels something like a frat party meets a trailor park party. Not to knock the folks who frequent there, I know a few, but it is just not my scene. I have never had to pay for cover because my friend, a frequenter, hooks up the VIP list. I probably would not have gone back the second time if it was not for that. I am giving this place 3 stars because I honestly think that there is value for people who enjoy this sort of atmosphere, but not really for me. So take your chances and maybe you will learn a line dance or two, or catch the late night drunken fights, it is bound to happen here! read more

So, for a dive bar, this place was pretty enjoyable. When went to celebrate a friend's birthday and upon entry I felt extremely odd. My boyfriend and I were looking around like we had entered another world. Ala the scene from 48 Hours when Reggie Hammond walks in to the red neck bar and says, "There's a new sheriff in town, and his name is Reggie Hammond!" There was a room full of people country line dancing and I thought, I must really love my friend. However, there is a second area that is located outside where there was a lot of pop, R&B and Hip Hop music playing!! My friends were there!! Let me say, I had a blast. From the drinks to the music, I had the best time. The place was casual and laid back for a dance party. The attire was laid back. Clearly this is a place you can come and have a good time and sweat your clothes and your hair out and not give a damn!! I will definitely be going back to party from time to time!!! read more

This place is very simple. Big bar in a big open room where the bands crank out the tunes to happy line dancers. If you're a decent looking dude, you need to be coming here friday nights. Your odds of picking up a good looking woman is very high given the competition. Most of the dudes there are not the kind good looking women would take interest in. Give it a shot. read more

I have been going to this place since the '90's. This place has gone through some changes over the years. Yes it is a BAR not a "Club". First there are two sides to it to accommodate different types of music. Friday nights both sides have a live band playing either Rock or Country. Saturday nights live band on the Country side and a DJ playing Hip/Hop on the Outdoor side. They do have a dress code, no hoodies are allow in the place. They have a coat check-in. The Bouncers do not harrass you unless you are stupid and do stupid stuff. There is a cover charge but if you get there early there is none. There is a kitchen and they serve BAR food. The waitresses were Booty shorts and t-shirts. The Outdoor side has a sandy volleyball area and numerous places to hang out under the Palm trees. It has its own entrance so you do not have to go through the Country side. They have 3 bars to get your drinks. The Country side has a wood dance floor, pool table, mechanical bull every other weekend. They have lessons weekly. On Sunday night is Salsa night. Every once in a while they will have a Popular band come in, on those nights the cover charge will be higher. They have a large parking area but it fills up quickly and early. So if you get there around 10pm plan on parking along the street and a distant away. Motorcycles normally park in-front. Again, there are two entrances into the place; one on the Outdoor side and the other is the Country side. read more

Terrible customer service. Went there for the ladies night out. We paid our cover, danced, started enjoying ourselves. That's when the problem started. Apparently they do not give out water to people because it would cause them to "lose profits." To enact a policy that patrons can only get water if they buy a bottle for $2 is ludicrous. To put profit over the health and safety of customers who you are serving food and alcohol to is not the type of establishment I'd like to spend money at. I'm questioning the legality of having a policy like that. This was my second time going but it will surely be my last. read more

This place is fun sometimes. What bothers me is the ridiculous (estimate) $10 cover charge. One open room area has some dining seating and they teach line dancing too so a lot of people are dancing. It's very, some would say, "redneck" for sure. Country. They have an outside area with a sandy area. That area is usually like rap, club, dance music. I've been here twice. The first time was like in the early 2000's. The second time was a few weeks ago when I was staying at a hotel nearby to catch a flight out of BWI the next morning. The cops still park around the lot and surrounding side roads, so watch how much you drink or save your domestic dispute for when you get back home if you're driving. Amazingly, the weird crowd hasn't changed. It definitely has a locals vibe. You have ALL types, but that's to be expected since one side is a country bar doing the dosey doe, and the other side is more how should I say, urban. The busted girls dancing in the cage have go to go though. But it's all good. If you're up for some people watching while throwing back a few drinks, this is the place for you. I have no idea why, but it cost us $10 to get in on a WEDNESDAY night. Granted, the parking lot was jam packed. I'd expect such a high cover in a city, not bumblefuck Dorsey Road. The DJ on the non-country side was pretty good. Beers are decently priced. Service is good, and the shot girls are actually cute. read more
