What I thought was going to be a touristy or overrated experience ended up being great - both in terms of experience and the quality of the beer. YOu'd think that once you've been to one brewery, you understand how beer is made. That may be right but this place includes all the history of the Guinness brand topped of with an amazing drinking experience. I would highly recommend the tour followed by a round at the bar upstairs. I would definitely come back and try some of their staples as well as their seasonal brews.

Visited last night with a friend for their 7pm brewery tour. Great experience! Guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He explained the history of Guinness family and the beer making process. We even tried a few brews. After the tour we ate dinner at their restaurant. Food was amazing! Ambiance in the restaurant is bar scene but very welcoming.

If I'm being honest, I was very apprehensive going into this tour but I was completely blown away. The brewery itself is beautiful but our tour guide was so knowledgeable and the taste testing at the end truly highlighted the different styles of Guinness that are out there. It was amazing and I had a great time!

I come here every time I'm in the area. They switch out the beers often and have the staples that are always great

Stopped by on a Sunday and very glad we did. Lots of parking and seating indoors and outdoors. I can see that it's a great spot especially in the summer months. They have board games inside and multiple seating areas. The crabcake sandwich with fries , old bay wings, Bavarian pretzel was so good! The house made ketchup was a hit and complimented the fries well. If I'm ever in the area, these would def be my go to. We also tried the hot chicken and waffle, the breakfast Sammie (the hash brown was. AMAZING!) and of course their beers. Being that it was right off I-95 and route 1, it made it a great stop for people on the road.

Such a fun opportunity to enjoy Irish brewed Guinness, local inspired beer and some local/Irish fusion food. Based in a random location in the outskirts of Baltimore, this beer oasis has what you need to feel just a little closer to Ireland. From the fresh Guinness draught to some Irish fusion foods, it has a little something for everyone. Went here on a Saturday and while the tours were full, we were able to enjoy some samplers, pints of Guinness and the quintessential Smith Island Cake with a Guinness infused twist. The cake was delicious and the beer highlights were the Dublin brewed Milk stout and the and the Open Gate Brewed scotch ale. Service at the bar was a bit haphazard and less than Irish standards, but enjoyed it none-the-less. Overall I also found the beers expensive for being at a brewery.

We stopped by for a lunch during St. Patrick's Day weekend, because it just felt on theme. The establishment is beautiful and it seemed they had some seasonal installations to celebrate the holiday as well. Plenty of outdoor fire pits and an area for golf. After climbing up a mountain of stairs we made it to the brewery lol. There was just so much going on inside, some people were there just to drink, others for food, and some just to walk around the factory/store areas. While the facility itself is fairly clean, the bathrooms were funky. I'm going to chalk that up to it also being a bar. Our server went missing on us and if it was for Tony, we wouldn't gotten our food or drinks. Shout out to Tony for taking excellent care of us! The heritage burger was a 5/10. The patties were definitely fresh out the freezer--no taste, and the texture was pretty bad. But the side salad as a 10. Im not sure what kind of vinaigrette was used but it was delicious. I'm not the biggest fan of beer but Tony allowed me to taste the shamrock (ginger and lime?) and beermosa (orange and grapefruit?) which were both pretty good. It's nice to know that they cater to people like myself with more custom drinks. I would have ordered a full size drink if it didn't have the beer-like aftertaste. The friend I came with ordered the shepherds fries which I thought was better than the burger, a solid 7/10. I think this place is exclusively for beer lovers. If you don't love beer, I would skip.

Date: Friday, October 24th, 2025 Time: 2:45 pm Party of: 3 Meal: Lunch Reservation Made Thru: OpenTable earlier that day *Experimental Flight - ABV Varies ($22) *Lager Lover - ABV Varies ($22) *Crab Cake Sandwich ($29) *Bavarian Pretzel ($15) *Rueben Egg Rolls ($13) *Guinness Draught Stout 0 Non-Alcoholic ($8.25) *Fish & Chips ($20) *Guinness Beef Stew ($21) *Tax ($10.58) Last real meal in Maryland! We had driven by this spot quite a few times during our 6 day stay in the area. Decided to finally stop by once we checked out of our hotel. I easily made a rezzie using the OT app. They only offered three flights. The two above and a cocktail one. Since we were at a beer spot, figured we should try the two beer flights. I'm not the biggest beer person, so I preferred the lager one. Lighter beers so easier to drink. Food wise, the fish and chips were delish. The egg rolls were a little too much given the ruben fusion aspect. The stew was a little salty, but a nice big portion. The pretzel was bready chewy comfort. Worth checking out. And easy to made a rezzie last min. REVIEW #3895

I really enjoyed my time here. The brewery is more than just a restaurant. It's also a cool event space and an overall nice place to just hang out on a nice day. The space is open and bright with huge windows. The food was also good. I had the beef stew and really liked it. The portions were good. I also had a beer flight, which was a nice way to try a few different flavors. The Baltimore Blonde and the Lime flavored one were my favorites. Our waitress was also super nice and helpful. I definitely plan to return with friends/family!

Came here for a tour and had a great experience with our tour guide Jason! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. During the first half of the tour we learned about the production process, the craft beers they make, the history of the building and Guinness marketing in the US. During the second half we enjoyed a tasting. After the tour we went back up to the bar for a beer and oysters, and there was also trivia going on that night. Overall we had a great time and were impressed with everything. We'll definitely come back the next time we're in Baltimore.

It's a short detour from the main highway and well worth the stop. Wide open spacious bar/dining area with a cute souvenir shop. Lots of character, accentuated by some oak barrels. Superb selection of regular and rotating brews. Easily the best Guinness Draught pours. Also enjoyed the Amber and Irish Red ales. Food is excellent, crabcake a tad salty but the fries and house sauce made up for it. Cassie, Bailey and Claire are totally awesome and made this visit most enjoyable!!

Did the brewery tour with guided tasting. The tour was interesting and the tasting was great. Jason did a great job. Afterwards we went to the bar and tried some additional beers and had oysters. The oysters were great. The variety of beer styles is amazing and all that we tried were good. This is more of a craft beer place than traditional Guinness. They have the well known Draught available but the beer made on site is all craft beer and the brewers are allowed almost complete free reign to brew anything they want if they think it will sell. Really cool concept to have the resources of a major brewery giving their people creative freedom.

Came here because of a West Point student reunion before the Army-Navy game. We ate dinner, and the food took quite a while. You order online, and our food came out in about 20 minutes or more. They delivered most of the Caesar salad but forgot the sauce, so I kept thinking it didn't taste very saucy. My sister's burger still hadn't come out, and when it finally did--about 15 minutes after everyone else's food--they brought my salad sauce too... which explained a lot. That said, the chicken was perfection. My friends got the beef stew and said it was pretty salty but still good. They also ordered the burger and said it was excellent. Unfortunately, the pretzel sauce was terrible. Overall, the food was good, but the staff could be more attentive, like refilling water more often and clearing dirty dishes. It's a nice place with tons of people and plenty of parking, even though it was very busy. Beautiful place by the way!

Guinness Open Gate Brewery Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Guinness Open Gate Brewery

    Is a reservation needed?

I would make a reservation. They are normally crowded. To be on the safe side I would make a reservation.

Is the tap room and restaurant accessible for wheelchairs?

Yes! You can access elevators behind the big staircase that leads into the bldg.

Do they sell any alcohol other than beer?

    Just beer

Does the outside patio have heaters?

    Yes

Is the beer only being served in plastic cups at the moment or is there an option to get a pint in a glass anywhere at the Brewery?

I was there today, 26 Sept, and it's all glassware. No plastic. So you can drink a proper pint.

Can you get a growler filled at the tap house?

Hi Mike, at the moment we're only filling newly purchased growlers. However, we're selling crowlers (32oz one-way cans) and have a large variety of bottles and cans available for takeaway. Cheers!

Is outdoor seating available during this time?

Yes, there was outdoor seating available, but have not heard whether they have reopened yet. They had picnic type tables with a fire pit.

Is the taproom open for food and tastings/drinks on Sunday afternoons? And if so, is it possible to make a reservation?

Both the tap room and the restaurant are open on Sundays for food but I believe only the restaurant is available for reservations

Does the brown bread contain eggs?

    sorry i don know

Is this place open during the week for Happy hour?

Every hour you are there is HAPPY! but sadly I an not aware of any 'Happy Hour' Specials.

Do they also have a full Bar? By full bar I mean everything not just beer?

I didn't see anything other than beers there

I'm asking about the outside seating area only that you see when you first arrive. Is eating and drinking beer allowed in this area?…

    Yes it is

I've been to the restaurant and forgot to ask about happy hour in the restaurant or tap room. Does the restaurant or tap room offer happy hour? I don't see a menu or mention of it on the website. Does anyone have a pic of the menu?

Don't think so, but remember you can get little flight glasses of beer for a few bucks. Best way to go as you can sample a bunch of stuff without chugging pints.…

Do they have anything besides beer? Looking for a gluten free option

In the restaurant upstairs but not at the bar/brewery on the middle floor.

Are kids allowed in the taproom?

Yes. I would recommend sitting outside. There are several tables outside the taproom.

Can you get flights at the outdoor bar? And does the taproom have ample seating/outdoor seating connected to it?

There is plenty of room in the tap room plus outside seating

Is there a kids menu at the restaurant?

No, but several of the options I would def describe as kid friendly.

    Do you take reservations?

No first come first served. Also, the restaurant is not open on Monday and Tuesdays

Are there TV's in any of the bar areas?

It is not a typical sports bar with TV's everywhere. I don't recall seeing any. The bar over looks the interior of the brewery. If you been to St. James Gate, it is not the same. Although the beer is very good and plentiful. Just bring a designated…

Does the property include a store for beer carry out and/or merchandise purchase?

Our party grabbed a high top table, but that was tricky with our littlest, so we went outside to the patio. While in the winter they have some space heaters to make it more pleasant, they only cover a small amount of the patio. We were far from the only folks with kiddos (a lot of babies and toddlers around), which is why I was surprised I didn't see any high chairs or booster seats. Just be aware if you bring littles. I imagine the patio is probably a lot better in the warmer months, but be aware that there's not much indoor space in colder weather. The pizza was probably the best part of the visit. Their "plain" cheese, the "Formaggio" is a 5-cheese blend that we enjoyed, especially Child #1 and Child #3. We also enjoyed our pepperoni pizza (sorry, Child #2, no olives as a topping). For a lager-focused brewery, they actually had a really impressive variety of beers. My husband and I both went with IPAs, and we were pleasantly surprised by how unique and robust the flavor profiles were. I only wish one of our favorites had been available in cans to take home! There were also two completely different experiences happening while we were there, a craft event meetup and a make-your-own ramen noodle experience. Both sections were packed, but there was still plenty of other seating, so it didn't feel crowded or overwhelming. We also had a great time chatting with the bartender and hearing about the brewery, its opening, and their experiences. That kind of personal interaction really added to the visit. It's a great new local spot for us, or maybe not actually new, just one we somehow completely missed until now! I'm definitely glad we know about it now and will be back.

While it was a bit noisy, it was an otherwise inviting space. Since it was my first time here, I opted for some flights. Honestly, every beer was solid. I got mostly sours, porters, and stouts and I would get any of them again. I have to be in a very specific mood for an IPA, but the one I got was nicely hopped, but not overly so with a solid piney and grapefruit flavor. They have a respectable selection of food items. It can be a little something to pick at or a proper meal. I thoroughly enjoyed my bratwurst with sauerkraut and would get it again. The mezze platter was okay; I think it could benefit from some veggies instead of (or better, in addition to) the pita chips. I would definitely come back. Recommended!

Like if they are doing it clock-wise, you can't switch giving orders with the person after you. I thought that was funny because when the orders came, they still had to ask "who's who." Anyway, overall would reco for a mall area. Jambalaya was a hit - white, brown or pasta and the meat was generous. I'd say most servings are pretty generous. Fair kids meal pricing too, with usual crayons and activity paper menu. If the server take nice group picture I would have rated 6! J/k. Only reason it's 4 is because I don't feel the servers have the "right" energy for that day. I would have understand if it was one of them but both of them were almost nonchalant. LOL!

I grabbed the apple pie cider since it was sweeter than the guava and they were sold out of the other. I also grabbed the penne vodka fontina chicken dish that was pretty tasty. I love a vodka sauce. Make sure to order extra sauce though and Sean already knew when he asked how it was. I slay tried their truffle fries which had a lot of parm and parsley left in the bowl but we enjoyed dipping them in the vodka sauce.

I had a coupon for buy one get one free drinks that was about to expire. It was a great way to get me in the door. It's located right across the bridge from the stadium so it's a good pregame spot for an Orioles game or a Ravens game. You can also pay to park there on game days. It was $20 for a Orioles game day. Not sure what the Ravens game day prices though. Interior is rather spacious with a large outdoor area. It was a little bit chilly on this day, so no one was sitting outside. The bar was pretty large as well. Everything inside was Maryland themed. They do have food to go along with all of the beers that they have on top. You can go right up to the bar to order your drinks and food. I can't remember the beers that I had but both were IPAs. They were good. I was a little bit hungry so I ordered some fries as well as a sausage roll. The fries were good. The sausage roll was way too greasy. Definitely would never order that sausage roll again. It had a good flavor, but I couldn't get past the grease that was dripping off. I will have to say that the service was very good here. Everyone was friendly and accommodating.

When we arrived we were seated quickly. A lot of items stood out to us on the menu so we went back and forth on what to order but it did take a little bit for someone to come take our order. Ultimately we landed on the peach cobbler French toast, cinnamon roll French toast, and a 1/2 and 1/2 lunch special with chicken & waffles and a cup of jambalaya. I was told the peach cobbler French toast was really good. The cinnamon roll French toast was prepared perfectly. Not soggy which was surprising given how much syrup and melted cream was on the plate. It was just VERY sweet. It also came with a side of eggs and brown sugar sage sausage patties. I loved the sausage patties and 2 was just enough. The chicken and waffles were good, the chipotle honey that came on the side complimented the chicken really well. The jambalaya had potential, but could have been seasoned a bit heavier. I also ordered the raspberry peach palmer and it was bombbb. I'd absolutely recommend another broken egg and will definitely stop in again if there's a location nearby.

Although they have a nice outdoor area it was warm and humid on this day and I wanted to sit in the air conditioning. I was seated immediately and provided a menu. I was a little surprised by the prices on the menu as I expected it to be a little less than it was. My server came by shortly after and asked about drinks and I got water. A few minutes later he came back and I ordered the peach cobbler French toast which looked good but probably look better in the picture then when it arrived. The presentation wasn't very good as it was just thrown on a plate and not really well presented to me. It tasted good it was very sweet but it was good. One of the things that reduced the star was both the presentation and the fact that the syrup that was presented to me in the cup had a layer of film over it and when I went to pour it over my French toast it wouldn't pour until I pierced the film covering the syrup. The eggs over medium and the well done bacon that I ordered came out perfectly and were very good. It was starting to get busy when I was ready to leave and it took a little longer for my server to bring my check and also then pick it up. All in all it was a good meal, and I will be back but I will try something else the next time I come in. I definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try.
