Such a cool place! Guinness Open Gate Brewery has a huge indoor space, a really cute store where you can buy merchandise and beer to go, and a great outdoor area with lots of seating and fire pits. It's a really fun atmosphere, especially if you're going with a group! I came with four friends and we ordered the Bavarian pretzel and Caesar salad, which were both really good. I also got the Apricot Sour, and it was AMAZING! It's hard to find a really good sour, and this one definitely did not disappoint. My friends all tried different selections, and everyone enjoyed their drinks. The only reason I'm mentioning this is because there was a little confusion with the service. When you sit inside, you're told you can order through a waitress or online. Our waitress came over once but didn't come back, so we ended up ordering online. One of my friends ordered four half beers so she could make her own flight. When the beers came out, the waitress told us that you could only have two beers in front of you at a time. We were confused because this wasn't mentioned when we ordered or stated in the ordering app. We asked about it, but weren't really given an explanation beyond that we couldn't have more than two at a time. It was a little frustrating since we had already placed the order and she brought all four beers. After that, the waitress didn't come back, so we continued ordering online. Overall, though, we had a really nice time and I would definitely come back! The brewery itself is beautiful, there are tons of drink options, the food was good, and the Apricot Sour was one of my favorites. Date Day! One thing my ex taught me was to have options. Why date one when you can date two or three! Okay options! I like it! So in this season of yes, I accepted a date and he went all out! He picked me up and off we went on a small road trip to BMore! When I asked what we were doing, he said it was a surprise. When we got to Guinness Open Gate I was in shock that I had never seen this place and to be honest, never heard of it. It's huge! It's fun! And it's seriously a great place to do a first date like we did! We did brunch, which we will talk about below! But we also didn't want our date to end and went on the lawn and ordered finger foods just to sit and talk afterwards. There was a baby shower going on and it was super packed but we were able to find space on the lawn and chat. Meeting new people is great and within one date for me I know if I like you enough for date two or if a friendship is where it ends. Although this date ended here, I'm super appreciative of time given and the good meal! I'll be back just not with him, not in the business of wasting peoples time. Let's get into it! Oysters - I'm slowly learning to like slimy oysters. While not a fan these were yummy! Waffle - I enjoyed! Wings - Yummy! What I thought was going to be a touristy or overrated experience ended up being great - both in terms of experience and the quality of the beer. YOu'd think that once you've been to one brewery, you understand how beer is made. That may be right but this place includes all the history of the Guinness brand topped of with an amazing drinking experience. Stopped by on a Sunday and very glad we did. Lots of parking and seating indoors and outdoors. I can see that it's a great spot especially in the summer months. They have board games inside and multiple seating areas. The crabcake sandwich with fries , old bay wings, Bavarian pretzel was so good! The house made ketchup was a hit and complimented the fries well. If I'm ever in the area, these would def be my go to. We also tried the hot chicken and waffle, the breakfast Sammie (the hash brown was. AMAZING!) and of course their beers. Such a fun opportunity to enjoy Irish brewed Guinness, local inspired beer and some local/Irish fusion food. Based in a random location in the outskirts of Baltimore, this beer oasis has what you need to feel just a little closer to Ireland. From the fresh Guinness draught to some Irish fusion foods, it has a little something for everyone. Went here on a Saturday and while the tours were full, we were able to enjoy some samplers, pints of Guinness and the quintessential Smith Island Cake with a Guinness infused twist. The cake was delicious and the beer highlights were the Dublin brewed Milk stout and the and the Open Gate Brewed scotch ale. We stopped by for a lunch during St. Patrick's Day weekend, because it just felt on theme. The establishment is beautiful and it seemed they had some seasonal installations to celebrate the holiday as well. Plenty of outdoor fire pits and an area for golf. After climbing up a mountain of stairs we made it to the brewery lol. There was just so much going on inside, some people were there just to drink, others for food, and some just to walk around the factory/store areas. While the facility itself is fairly clean, the bathrooms were funky. I'm going to chalk that up to it also being a bar. Our server went missing on us and if it was for Tony, we wouldn't gotten our food or drinks. Shout out to Tony for taking excellent care of us! The heritage burger was a 5/10. The patties were definitely fresh out the freezer--no taste, and the texture was pretty bad. But the side salad as a 10. Im not sure what kind of vinaigrette was used but it was delicious. I'm not the biggest fan of beer but Tony allowed me to taste the shamrock (ginger and lime?) and beermosa (orange and grapefruit?) which were both pretty good. It's nice to know that they cater to people like myself with more custom drinks. I would have ordered a full size drink if it didn't have the beer-like aftertaste. The friend I came with ordered the shepherds fries which I thought was better than the burger, a solid 7/10. I think this place is exclusively for beer lovers. I really enjoyed my time here. The brewery is more than just a restaurant. It's also a cool event space and an overall nice place to just hang out on a nice day. The space is open and bright with huge windows. The food was also good. I had the beef stew and really liked it. The portions were good. During the first half of the tour we learned about the production process, the craft beers they make, the history of the building and Guinness marketing in the US. Did the brewery tour with guided tasting. The tour was interesting and the tasting was great. Jason did a great job. Afterwards we went to the bar and tried some additional beers and had oysters. The oysters were great. The variety of beer styles is amazing and all that we tried were good. This is more of a craft beer place than traditional Guinness. They have the well known Draught available but the beer made on site is all craft beer and the brewers are allowed almost complete free reign to brew anything they want if they think it will sell. They delivered most of the Caesar salad but forgot the sauce, so I kept thinking it didn't taste very saucy. My sister's burger still hadn't come out, and when it finally did--about 15 minutes after everyone else's food--they brought my salad sauce too... which explained a lot. That said, the chicken was perfection. My friends got the beef stew and said it was pretty salty but still good. They also ordered the burger and said it was excellent. Unfortunately, the pretzel sauce was terrible. Overall, the food was good, but the staff could be more attentive, like refilling water more often and clearing dirty dishes. I was born and raised in Baltimore and was back in town for the weekend. It had been about 5 years since I'd been home, and this was my first time checking out the Open Gate Guinness Brewery. Really cool spot and huge! There's a full restaurant inside and a beer garden outside. I ate inside since I had my daughter with me. This is a pretty cool place! We went on a Saturday afternoon, so it was pretty busy. You can sit at the bar if there are open seats or wait for a table. We ended up finding some bar seats. Bartenders here were friendly, albeit quite busy so service is a bit slow (understandably). We tried a few different beers and all were pretty good. My bf ordered Irish stew and enjoyed it. I tasted a bite and it was too oniony for me (personal preference), but the beef was tender and plentiful in the stew. There is a lot of outdoor seating in addition to the indoor seating, a merch area, ample parking, and they do tours as well. Overall, it's a bit chaotic and busy, but still a pretty cool place and nice to have close to home. I was always curious to try this place out. I saw the huge sign from driving past a few times so on this day I was able to book a sought of impromptu date for my husband and I. I booked a Beer History tour literally 2hrs before the start of the tour and was so happy it was available. We were able to park on the huge parking lot for free before entering. The entire campus is gorgeous including the extremely large beer garden. Our tour started promptly with a small group which was nice. I learned so much about the beer process including hops, clean water and beer production times. My husband actually asked so many questions during the tour which means he was invested. Our tour guide was great (sorry I forgot his name). We were able to try so many different beer flavors during the tour. After the tour we were definitely hungry so we were able to grab food and eat on the patio. We ordered wings, pretzel with beer cheese (delish) and the burger was the star of the show ~ so good 10/10. Now, I must admit I do not like beer at all even after they gave me so many beer flavors to try. I thought they had some cocktails on the menu but unfortunately they do not. What a great experience at the Guinness open Gate Brewery! I'm staying in the area and had to check this place out from all the great reviews. Firstly, due to the size of the venue, parking is extensive. We were able to find parking easily. The brewery has a large sitting outside and inside as well which holds a pretty good size bar area. Due to how hot it was that day, my friend and I opted to sit inside which we were still able to see and hear the sights from outside. It was Friday and they were playing live music so it was great. Food was great! I ordered the wings while my friend ordered the salmon salad. Everything was delicious and came out pretty quickly. I'm not a big Guinness drinker and we ordered an infused cocktail. Truly so bummed about this bc I've been wanting to go here for years. Off from the start. Initially made a reservation but upon arrival asked about seating was told by host stand to go upstairs and use QR ordering bc the restaurant was busy and very noisy -- got upstairs and bartender says they're closed and not serving anymore after soccer game. Went back down spoke w hosts and DID get a seat (yay). Hosts said we can order thru server or QR. Server only dropped off water and left, so only QR ordering took place here. We got the pretzel and cinnamon bun on first round of ordering and they took a very long time so we ordered the Ruben egg rolls. These came out BEFORE the pretzel or cinnamon bun which was weird. Finally pretzel and cinnamon bun came out. It was very clear they were sitting for quite some time, neither was warm and the pretzel was hard with the cheese crusted over. Very meh. HOWEVER!!!!!! The Ruben egg rolls were 10/10 soooooo delish should've just got that bc the rest of the food was horribly disappointing. Chicken sandwich -- grossly undercooked (customer service (when we got a hold of a server) was fine & chicken was removed from bill) also not hot whatsoever Mortadella Cuban -- subpar sandwich. Chicken tenders -- not edible. Just frozen chicken tendies also alarming and management removed from bill also (thank you again that was very kind) Overall very apparent that food is not being run when it's ready. Everything was lukewarm. Beers were fine. We did get a beer cocktail the shandy one was not great by any means. The Guinness blonde is a classic always good. The galaxy and flow state IPAs were also fine the galaxy better than the flow state. No one ever comes by the see how you're doing or how food tastes only to take dirty plates. We stopped in here after a trip to the National Aquarium in downtown Baltimore. We weren't sure how the accessibility would be since we had a 3 month old in a stroller, but we had no issues at all! We took the elevator upstairs to the dining area and were able to be seated with the stroller right next to the table and a bit out of the way from the restaurant at or the dining area. I think this is our first review to a big name, and I am glad it was Guinness Open Gate. We serendipitously found this place on Yelp while we were looking for late lunch, and we had to visit. The place is huge, with indoor, outdoor, and terrace space for many. They have a store for all things Guinness and a tour from a great tour guide! Because it was hot, we chose to sit inside. We usually prefer a booth, but that was not offered, so I chose a high table. When I saw an empty booth, I asked if I could be switched but the hostess declared it reserved. Oh well. We spent a good 15 minutes waiting for our server, but many employees ignored our request for assistance. I get it, the place was busy, but there were many servers passing us by. Good news! You can order through their de website with ease. So, we did. A few minutes later, our server got our food and my beer. And we asked again if we could get to the empty "reserved" booth and it took a few minutes for our server to help us move. Then, our actual server came by and apologized for the miscommunication, as we got there right at shift switch. Service from then was uncomplicated. For food, we ordered the Guinness brown bread, the 1817 heritage burger and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. I ordered two experimental half pints: the pineapple coconut stout and the blueberry lime ale. Beware because you cannot create your own flight, so half pints may be your only option to try a few experimental or core ales. These experimental brews were nice. The stout had very faint notes of pineapple and coconut; I think the stout ale was overpowering these subtle flavors. The blueberry lime ale was definitely brighter, refreshing with more defined fruity flavors. The brown bread was to die for with thick cut, swear flavor, and very good salty and sweet spreads. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was crispy on the outside but a bit overcooked in the inside. It was definitely not Nashville hot; it was very faintly spicy instead. The heritage burger was a solid good burger with very good bread. For both dishes, the fries were a great side and the ketchup was an amazing in-house! There was no room for dessert. Overall, this visit started a bit rough but once the staff got things cleared and worked out, our experience improved quite a lot. The ease to order and pay on my phone was a good addition. The ability to try a few beers is more complicated than it should, but the half pints can help. The food was good bar food and the ambiance was nice with the addition of the store. What more can you ask for when you live ten minutes to the only Guinness brewery in America? This is by far our favorite place to visit during all months of the year. It's a great place to gather with friends and their seasonal ales are worth trying out! During the summer they have large picnic tables, Adirondack chairs and lots of turf space. During the winter, you can be seated throughout the building and they accommodate small and large parties. My favorite is they started using the Qr scanner process so it's very easy to split checks, or order from your phone. Be mindful, on a nice day the line can get very long, but their staff is very good about getting people in and out. If you already have someone inside they usually let you walk right i. Lastly, don't miss your chance to try our their seasonal stuff. They post it on their website and Instagram and I've never been disappointed. I've been to Open Gate a few times now and it's always an experience. On this particular visit, I made a reservation on the Open Table app, but opted to saddled up at the bar once I got there. The hostess had no issue accommodating my request. The beer options can be intimidating but menu pretty accurately describes the flavor profiles of each. After perusing the menu, I decided on a raspberry-something ale, which was very well balanced with a touch of sweetness. I paired it with the Reuben Egg Rolls and a Bavarian Pretzel... and another beer. Service was fast and friendly. Oh, I almost forgot about the cookie and beer pairings - four flights and four house made cookies. Everything was absolutely delicious. Lots of free parking and a designated ride share pick-up area. The tour was awesome and our tour guide shared a lot of cool information At the end we got to try 4 types with 4 ounce pours. If you did a quiz via a qr code you got a card for a specific beer in the bar/restaurant. The choice was given based on your likes. Learned a lot about making beer in this small experimental brewery It used to be a lot larger when bought by Seagrams but Diagio know shrunk it's use. The restaurant was awesome. For St. Patrick's day weekend, my husband and I have been coming here for 3 years now. Secrets we've learned: - Come early and grab a spot at the inside bar - no matter where you are, if you can grab a table there should be a QR code for you to order from. Do it but expect a good 20 min delay, way better than all the lines tho - the corn beef and Guinness bread is AMAZING (not 100% sure if you can get the corn beef for lunch) - people do dress up, so come accordingly and to live your best life - green beer is not as bright as Kelly green as I would like Great time. My daughters (10 and 12) and I came here for lunch after dropping my wife off for a flight at BWI (it's just 7 minutes from BWI). So is this place family friendly...Yes. There were families there with kids of varying ages. There is the Beer Garden which is a large outdoor area with picnic tables and umbrellas and the Taproom that is indoor. The Beer Garden and the Taproom have different menus with the Beer Garden being the more limited of the two. Since it was a beautiful day we ate in the Beer Garden. The area was also pet friendly as we saw two families with dogs. You scan the barcode at your table, place your order and they bring the food to your table. The staff there were great. My oldest had the Chicken Tenders + Fries and my youngest and I had the Beer Garden Burger. The portions were a little on the large side for the girls (they don't have a kids menu). Though they enjoyed it they could not finish their food. My burger was really good and I had a little sample of the tenders and they were good also. They have a huge selection of beers but since I was driving I had to stick to lemonade. I had the Guava Tiki Lemonade and my youngest had the Southside lemonade (lime and mint). Inside a dining area (where they serve the Tap Room menu), bar area and gift shop. It's laid out very nicely with lots of Guinness historical info.
