Inside is small and a little confusing. As a first timer, I wasn't greeted when I walked in nor was I guided on how to order, apparently there's a ticket system. You pull a number and then they call your number. Since I wasn't aware I just stood in line behind someone who was being helped by the pastry case. One of the safest bakeries to pick up a cake, during pandemic. They have a very organized system with limited people inside while you're picking up goodies. I had placed an order via phone for a few cakes, and picked them up the next day. If you arrive before your pick-up time, you must wait outside. You can only enter if your order is ready, so don't come early. Similar to medical office, only come at the time you arranged for. That said, I'm not sure how it works if you just pop in. I decided to order the Tres Leches Cup and raspberry thumbprint cookies after reading rave reviews about it. Tres Leches cup - Damn, its hella moist. Love that it's also not too sweet. But I think $6.00 for it is too expensive. Thumbprint cookie - I love it. Absolutely love it. The cookie itself is almond flavor and the rasperberry jam(?) looked like it was made from the real fruit. Seeds and all. This wonderful little bakery is located in a strip mall a couple blocks from the 605 freeway. I recently saw a photo posted by Marilyn C. of a horchata frappe and it's been stuck in my brain ever since so I drove over to get one. It was even better than I imagined. The icy-cold, creamy, sweet coffee drink had cinnamon swirled in making for a refreshingly delicious beverage. While I was there I also got a couple pastries to eat later. I purchased a guava-cheese pastry and a horchata cupcake (I admittedly was on an uncontrollable and unexplainable horchata jag). The cupcake was okay; not sweet and the cinnamon was very subtle...too subtle for me...but the cake itself was really moist. The whipped cream on top was rather ho-hum. The guava pastry was excellent. Aside from being light and flakey, guava & cheese make a great flavor combination. The women at the counter were all very nice. Most of the other customers were picking up and purchasing incredible-looking cakes which seems to be the bulk of their business. Very dry, and not Horchata like at all, more like crusty cinnamon on a day old cupcake. But then you redeemed yourself with your ChocoFlan. Chocolate and flan got married and had this cool baby. I had no idea a bakery like this existed in Norwalk. I don't think it's an Asian bakery but the cakes sure look and taste like one. They're not too sweet and use lots of whip cream frosting and fruits for decoration. The most popular cake here seems to be the Napoleon cake which is vanilla cake with custard filling and crispy layer in the middle with lots of fruit on top (strawberries, peach, kiwi, and grapes). Frosting is made with whip cream and is very light. It is a tasty cake but I wouldn't recommend for a formal party because they are hard to cut due to the crispy layer in the middle. For my daughter's first birthday I ordered the regular vanilla cake which is similar to the Napoleon cake but without the crispy layer and has real strawberries and peaches in the middle instead of custard filling. I really like the mini cakes here. If I wasn't having a large group of people for a birthday party I would just order these because they are perfect for about three to four people. They look nicer and never have to worry about leftovers going to waste. It's also a good way to sample their cakes before committing to the regular size. I tried several different items here and they were all pretty good. Besides the Napoleon and vanilla cake, I also liked the following: Red velvet cake - Quite different from other red velvet cakes I had, in a good way. It's not as sweet and cream cheese frosting was much lighter and fluffier than the traditional ones. Horchata cupcake - quite difficult to find this flavor. Only other place I had horchata cupcakes was at My Delight Cupcakery in Ontario but is only available on certain occasion. I do like My Delight's better but they use butter cream frosting instead of whip cream frosting and Candle Light only charges about half what My Delight charges. The use of spice cake with horchata flavor frosting is a nice combination, and I like the fact it's not too sweet like all their other items. This goes great with their horchata latte which is another one of my favorites here. Oreo cupcake - not much to say. If you like Oreos you will love these. They have a cake version too but my guess is it will taste similar to the cupcake. Sea salt chocolate chip cookie and chocolate walnut cookie - pretty simple but flavors are solid and price isn't too bad for these large cookies. A must try is the Napoleon cake with a fruit layer at the bottom! My mother-in-law said it was the best cake she has ever had. TIP: Put in fridge as soon as you get it home & don't leave it out too long. My mother-in-law wanted to "thaw" it out a bit because she likes more room temperature stuff, but the rest of us agreed that it was perfectly fine straight out of the fridge. Otherwise the pastry layer will not be crispy anymore! This cake in particular was not too sweet. The icing was light. The fruit was SO fresh. I ordered this cake on a Monday, and needed it ready by Thursday at around 10:00 a.m. The guy that helped me out said this was no problem, but since usually special orders need to be made at least 3 days ahead of time. Extremely disappointed in their customer service and their negative attitude. I called on Monday to ask about a cake order, the lady on the phone said they need 24 hours. I went in today and the manager stated they need 72 hours. Lack of training and communication is not the guests fault. The supervisors answer to every question I had was "NO" simply horrible attitude and she's the supervisor. I have been a customer for over 18 years, but I think this was the last time I come here! Beyond disappointed in the way they handled the bakery for Mother's Day. I pre-ordered my cake and paid in full and I arrive to pick up only to find a line wrapped around the grocery store. I stood in the same spot for 20 mins and did not move. I called them over and over to find out why there is no separate line for pick ups. It took them 21 times to finally pick up, only to tell me there is a girl outside directing all customers. Obviously I'm aware but there is only one line so what exactly does she need to direct. Called ahead and double checked to see if they had pre-made Oreo cakes. The young lady was very pleasant and said they did in fact have the readily available. Drove down and was the second person in line. Was able to pick up the 8" Oreo cake and they were able to write Happy Birthday and my nephew's name on it. Also picked up 6 of their Oreo cupcakes.
