My family has been using this bakery for birthday cakes for many years and they never disappoint. My sons cake this year was BEAUTIFULLY executed. The lady that took our order was so patient and kind to our 8yr old boy while he talked to her about what he wanted his cake to look like. Even through masks and social distancing protocol, we really felt like the people who work here care. Even when I first called to see if I still had time to place this order (4 days before his actual birthday) they were so accommodating and informative over the phone. They told me exactly what to expect when I went in to place the order. When I picked up the cake it was ready on time and so beautifully presented. Their chocolate cake is SO good and perfectly moist. It's our fav! Their icing is so yummy, light and airy. This cake made our son's day. Charge A lot for Nothing I've been buying cakes and recommending this place for years, but after my last experience, I will not. I asked for a minimal decoration of a bee trail on a regular chocolate ganache cake and a small cake, & they charged me $10 extra for it, but only after going aback and forth with her because the decor was very minimal, the labor/time and effort didn't warrant it. This review is based on wait time for custom cake/cupcakes & desserts. Weekday arrived at 3:26 to order a cake was asked for my name at the entrance no need to pull a number. Was told that the wait time based on 2 girls taking orders would be 30 minutes. Yes it seemed to long to be true. Like any believer I thought I'd wait because there's no way it would take that long. Well here I was 30 minutes, 40 minutes and shame on me 45 minute wait to order a cake! Ultimately plan on being here for over an hour. If it's cold bring a chair a blanket and coffee because it will take that long. To the owners... i don't know how you keep busy when you have customers wait so long. I bought a dozen cupcakes and two Ferrero Rocher macarons on Friday, May 6th. I purchased 6 cupcakes for my family and 6 for my brothers pre-k teachers for teachers week. The 3 stars are for the macarons and the whipped topping on the cupcakes. I love anything Ferrero Rocher since it's my namesake jk lol and the macarons did not disappoint. I highly recommend even though they are very pricey for just one macaron($2.50 each). The cupcakes are always a hit or miss for me from here. One day they are moist, another day they could be dry. On Friday they were not moist at all and you can tell they were over mixed or over baked because they were dry and dense. However, the whipped topping on the cupcakes are always yummy, they taste nice and light which is why I love whipped topping on cupcakes. The cream puffs are bomb, my favorite is the chocolate ones. read more

I'm so upset!!! I have always used Candle Light Bakery for my daughters Big Birthday's... ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS!!! I know this bakery. I have always had good service & great cakes until today... Today I got to the bakery early to make sure I was able to order my daughter's 15 cake before going to my appointment. I got in line outside the store before it opened, walked in, pulled a number because I wanted pastries as well. The girl that opened asked who was there to place an order. I said me, she took down my information then said it'll be 30 minutes before anyone can help me... ummmm ok but I waited in line early to be the third person but ok. Then she helped a lady that came LAST after everyone in line, the lady was picking up a cake oh ok cool. But it wasn't cool that the lady started adding to her order making the people that came before her wait longer. When my number was called for my pastries i asked her "do you guys always take the last person and help them first? I don't think that was fair." She didn't answer me. Finally they cleared the line, yet I'm still waiting to be helped with my cake. A lady came from the back & told the girl to help with the cake orders because we were the only ones waiting... I could tell the girl didn't want to help me but she had to. I told her I want a simple small cake, two tiers 6 inches on top & 10 inches on bottom... I then showed her how I wanted the regular cream flowers on the cake... she said oh I have to go to the back for the price... ummm ok this has NEVER happened before. They usually ask you want flavor cake you want, what cream you want in the middle, if you want fruit or not because this all plays a part in the price... SHE DIDN'T ASK ME ANY OF THAT!!!! She went to back, came back, and quoted me $278! Huh? I told I order cakes there all the time and this is not how it's done. I asked for my pastries that I ordered and left... afterwards calling the Lynwood locations to get a quote.... This girl on the phone at the Lynwood location was nice like I usually experience... asked me all the questions that they normally ask, then quoted me $68 for the cake itself & said to add regular cream flowers wouldn't be that much more but to come in to pick the colors etc. For the simple cake I was asking for I figure it'll probably be like $160 (at the most)! So why try to overcharge me???!!! Oh because I said something about helping the last person first was wrong. All the prices are in the book that they have you look at... she went to back to make up a price!!! I called to speak to a manager & of course he's not there... NEVER AGAIN. This is pretty much my go to spots for custom cakes for my loved ones! I had a 2 layer cake designed in mind and I gave my vision to the worker at the front desk. It was a fondant "pulp fiction" movie inspired cake for my friend's 30th birthday surprise. We got the initial $500 dollar designs down to $300. Lets be real, a $500 cake is not that realistic. She made it smaller, and we took some detail touches off such as the film fondant design around the cake and the red roses. Which sums up to $300. The cake turned out perfect! They were excellent are perfecting the details you've included in the designs. I was very pleased!! And my friend was so happy. She wanted to cry! It's that special. If I could give this place 0 stars I would! I ordered a gender reveal cake for my sister and specifically asked the lady taking my order if the cake was going to dyed on the inside. She mentioned multiple times it will be dyed however it was not! There was a pink whipped cream on the inside which was one a super light pink colored that barely showed up and two I was told that the cake itself would be dyed. We had a whole conversation that I shouldn't do any other cake flavor so the pink color will pop! When we cut into the cake the cake was not dyed and when I called them to inform them that the cake was not what I ordered they only line they had to say was that we did review the order with you and in order to dye the cake it is an extra charge. Totally understand if it was an extra charge and I would have paid however I was not told it was an extra charge so I was under the impression it would be dyed. I paid $72 for a non dyed gender reveal cake. My advice take your money somewhere else cause at Candle Light Bakery they do not care or take responsibility for ruining such a special moment. Olga was very helpful, patient, and assured me the cake would be ready on time. This cake design is so cute! It went well with our Mermaid themed birthday party. My daughters loved it and were calling dibs on the shells and starfish as soon as they saw it. The first time I went to Candle Light Bakery, they gave me stale croissants. Super stale and dry. That makes me so angry when businesses give you stale food. I was so disappointed and I didn't go again for a looooooooong time... Till I needed to get a cake for Father's Day so I decided to give them another shot. I got the vanilla cake topped with fruit and filled with peaches and strawberry. The cake was delicious. They use a whipped cream frosting so it's very light and with the right amount of sweetness. I got a bacon and cheddar croissant! It was very flaky and buttery and good this time. They have a variety of little cookies priced at 2 for $1 and I enjoyed the thumbprint cookies, they are like shortbread with a little bit of jam. The elephant ear cookie is good too but a little bit more sticky/sugary than I would want. My latest discovery there is the chocoflan cake. It's so good! The chocolate part is very moist and the flan is rich, and there is a thin layer of caramel in between. I highly recommend it. My parents do not like overly sweet cakes and they normally don't like chocolate cake, but they like this chocoflan. They have really good chewy chocolate walnut cookies also. They use a number system, so make sure to grab a ticket number when you come in! read more

Within our family this spot is our go to for cakes. We usually get the chocolate ganache or milhojas (napoleon cake) and the cakes are always perfect. It can get busy so it's better to call ahead or place an order, my only issue is that starting last month you cannot request them to hand pipe "happy birthday" on your cake as a walk in customer. I was told the only way to get hand piping done is if you place an order in advance.
