I'm giving it 4 stars because the Napoleon cake everyone raved about was just OK. If you want a Napoleon then buy one. It's not even close. I have never had a Napoleon with Peaches?? That being said the women are cute and very attentive and the goods that I saw were incredible looking. When I go back I'll get the individual baked goods like the cheesecake etc. The other cakes looked great but don't be fooled, it's not a Napoleon! But if you like cake with a slim amount of crispy dough then this is your cake. Go in you will be happy you did! read more

I've gotten plenty of birthday cakes from here and they've always tasted great! So I recommended them to a friend who did a custom fondant icing cake. The cake looked amazing but was dry AF! Ugh, we were so disappointed because it was her dad's birthday. We handed out half the cake and people just nibbled at it and threw it out. We brought the rest back for a refund. As for your confusion about the cake design, your staff was given a design to follow as well as specific instructions to alter the top of the first cake to fit the Sofia castle that was going to placed be on top of the cake. .that instructions was not met. Then on the other two cakes, the decor was correct on top of the cake however the color scheme around the cake did not match based on my instructions . I can understand you raising the price of the cake, however when prices are raised so does the quality, which in theses cases the quality did not get better, worst yet more errors occurred As for your cell phone,you gave that to me awhile back. Love Candle Light Bakery they truly have the best cakes but their customer service is not so good. Went in to pick up a cake and had to wait 45 minutes to get called. I expressed my concern with the girl helping but she didn't seem to care. No guest recovery what so ever. They need to get organized when it comes to order pick ups. I've come here for many years to get cakes. Whether they were custom or something already made. I went in the other day to see about getting a custom cake made for my daughters birthday. I waited 15 minutes to speak with their cake designer and spent another 15 minutes showing her pictures of the direction I wanted to go with for the cake design. Everything I showed her she was quick to shut down. Telling me it couldn't be done, or it's not something she does, or she could "try" but she doesn't know. She even limited my ideas because she said she didn't know how much I wanted to spend. I was offended. I knew there was a lot of people also waiting to speak with her. So I asked if she could sketch something for me with the ideas I gave her and possibly email me so that I wouldn't take up too much more of her time. She told me she doesn't sketch so no she can't do that for me, but I can always come in again another day and hope that they weren't that busy. I then told her that my event was for September and I came in to get something started and wanted to leave a deposit. She told me most people don't come in until 2 weeks before the event so I still had plenty of time to shop around. That was my cue to take my business else where. I have never been treated this way at this bakery. My daughters cake was designed by someone else here the previous year and they did an amazing job implementing my ideas by sketching it out and then bringing it to life on the cake. Ordered a cake for my sisters birthday, arrived to pick it up...spent thirty minutes waiting for them to get it ready. Asked if everything was ok with my order, and the attendant said 'yes, here it is thank you!' Arrived at the party, sang songs, cut the cake, and saw an entirely different type of cake than what I ordered. Upon further inspection, the one fruit I told them to keep off due to allergies filled the entirety of the cake. So my sister couldn't eat her own birthday cake! Oh well, right? I called the next day to complain, maybe get my money back for the terrible service. Cynthia, the 'manager', said there wasn't much she could do if we already cut the cake but she'd look into it. I wait an hour, and her response was to bring back the cake and she'd give me 10% off my next purchase over $50. I expect she found that coupon on the floor somewhere and thought it would do. But besides lying to my face about my cake at the store, ruining my sisters cake, and wasting my time by disregarding my complaint, their cake is good. I was trying to find a bakery that would make a Hello Kitty birthday cake (at a decent price) for my 3 year old. After reading all of the great reviews...I decided to give this place a shot. I love this place but i was not happy with my recent experience with them: We ordered a full sheet with peach and strawberry filling for our housewarming. The cake was what you would expect from a candle light cake, light, moist, and delicious. However, we paid an extra 45 to get it decorated with multiple roses at each corner and were told it would have multiple roses. It did, the cake had 4 roses, one at each corner. Not worth the extra charge, we complained and received a 10% discount on our next purchase. We are definitely not pleased and we'll probably find a new bakery. read more

I was recommended by a family member to give this place a try since my usual bakery lucky treats in la habra was completely booked. I went to get a quote for my baby shower with my sister in law this may. I was beyond dissapointed considering how high everyone talks about this place. I showed them a design I wanted and said they didn't have the tool for the style. So we showed her another and said they couldn't do that one either but something similar. So we showed them a last suggestion and u guessed it they couldn't do it either. What we asked for wasn't out of this world. We asked for a naked cake or a cake with crossed colored smeares but offered spray painted on instead. And they said they couldnt do a naked cake cause they didnt have the tools. And i forgot the last one, but felt that they couldn't do anything I asked for. And they only have 3 or 4 flavors? Which is vanilla chocolate tres leches and I forgot what other. Is there something wrong with me? Why am I not loving this bakery like all the other reviewers? Maybe it's because I am used to delicious cupcakes from cupcakeries such as Magnolia's, frosted and sprinkles? I really am not sure but I will say that I really, really wanted to love this place. I came in on a Saturday afternoon and ordered a chocolate ganache mini cake, chocolate cupcake and horchata cupcake. The horchata cupcake was okay, the cinnamon was a bit overpowering but overall a decent cupcake. The chocolate cupcake bread was dry and the frosting did little to add flavor to it. Now for the ganache cake, maybe I should start of by letting you know that I am a total ganache snob. One year for my birthday I set off to find the perfect ganache and 5 bakeries and a few pounds later I finally found it. I won't name it here but if you want to know send me a message and i'll give you the 411. The ganache was just chocolate cake, a lot of frosting inside covered in mediocre fudge. The best thing about it was the 2 pieces of strawberries on top. Saturday night. How did I get so lucky to get invited to two separate birthdays? It gets better, I'm in charge of buying both the party's cakes at the last minute? Yelp to the rescue please! After reading so many great five star reviews, there was no hesitation for me to look or go anywhere else. Nice small little place. Went in to buy two small chocolate cakes. They offered to write Happy Birthday _______. Affordable. Service was quick. What more can I ask for? Unfortunately they didn't mention that their chocolate cakes can literally melt off! The chocolate fudge (or whatever it was) was so heavy on top of the cake and it needed to be refrigerated right away.. and I was not aware of that! After about 15-20min drive to the party, I was doing a last minute check on the cakes to make sure the right one goes to the right birthday girl only to find out that the cakes didn't make it.... It literally looked like it had been through hell and back and it was not due to any reckless Asian driving! I wish I took a picture of it so I can post it on here.. but more importantly I was embarassed and felt really bad for both the birthday girls.. So yeah, thanks for the tip guys! So.... This is my friends favorite bakery. She raves about it, and always gets her cakes here. Everytime she has family bdays or other friends bdays this is where she comes. So I'm standing there looking at the treats, another customer walks in and gets helped right before me. Luckily I was not really in a rush but still WTF. But my family bakery is more known for the mexican bread. So when it's my birthday or any special occasion, my parents know to get the cake from here. This bakery is such a winner in so many ways. I have been coming here for the past 3 years and the quality of their products are always on point! This place used to sit nonchalantly in the heart of Norwalk. After the remodel, the business noticeably got busier! And why not, their cakes and coffee are great. My favorites here are their cakes of course. Their chocolate and hazelnut ganache cakes are among my go-to items. The napoleon cake is also worth a try. As for their drinks, you cannot go wrong with their iced horchata latte! It is very refreshing but it may be a little too sweet for some. This bakery is a nice alternative to your usual Porto's. I have been purchasing cakes from here for years. This last cake was for my daughters birthday. I paid over $150 for her unicorn cake. I ordered white cake with strawberry filling. It was embarrassing to see that when we cut the cake there was only one thin layer of strawberries all the way at the bottom. It's disappointing to see that such an expensive cake can be cheaply made. For the unicorn cake I was told they would need to add more layers for it to be higher, but never was it communicated that there would only be cake added. With or without extra layers, there's no reason for one thin layer of strawberries. read more

My baking-at-home friends were unavailable to make a last minute cowgirl-themed cake for my goddaughters 3rd birthday. I thought one of them was a god send for recommending me to such a beautiful venue, and a place she trusts. I walk in and see delicious assortment of pastries, coffee drinks and pre-made tres leches cake! I went in with a cake in mind and asked for a quote. After discovering that they charge an arm and two legs for fondant cakes and DO NOT use buttercream icing on any of their cakes, I decided to look through their own selection. Luckily I found a cake to my liking, changed the color scheme to fit the theme and placed a required 20% down payment. Now it's time for the big day! One week later, and four hours after the initial pick up time, I went into the store only to discover that they started off all wrong. Color scheme was pink and brown, already I found a red bandana on the cake and made sure they changed it before any further decorations were done. Which by the way was THE ONLY decoration that had been done. I had to wait about an additional 30 min for all the fixings to get fixed. I am, however, very appreciative of them offering drinks and goodies while I waited and was then willing to let go of the entire waiting situation. Until it comes down to cutting the cake open. I was excited to dig into a half fresh strawberry and half fresh peach cake. Only, it wasn't. Instead I was provided with a strawberry and banana cake. Not a big fan of banana as a filing and luckily no one was allergic, but this could have been a bad situation. I then revisited the bakery to confirm the order and ensure them that they gave me the wrong cake. "The best they can do was employee discount of 20%." Maybe I'm just really picky but if half of the cake was wrong, I should get 50% of another, but that's just me. The only reason I will possible revisit is because of that 20% off special. I've been going to this bakery way before they moved a couple doors down and revamped. A friend of a friend (see, word gets around!) told me about this bakery with very reasonable prices. Come to find out that it's literally down the street from where I live. Convenience is also a bonus! Their pastries are delicious, but their Napoleon cakes are AMAZING! Up until yesterday, I'd been calling and ordering for NEOPOLITAN cakes! Hahaha *ding dong moment* It's always a hit with guests. I have yet to order a special fondant cake from them, but come Ava's birthday I'm sure this post will be updated with positive comments! This morning, Ava and I went in for coffee, hot chocolate and pastries for breakfast. Even at 8:00 in the morning, they are friendly and have a smile on their faces. Sterling, the barista, asked me what kind of coffee I like to drink and made me this amazing latte that was quite delicious! Ava's hot chocolate was also very tasty. He gave me a card, so that after my 10th cup of coffee, I get one for free. BONUS. The cappuccinos and lattes/iced lattes are of high quality and extremely well-made, and the baristas really know what they're doing. The head barista is very friendly and knows a lot about coffee. I like drinks that are sweet, so I usually get the iced tres leches or iced horchata latte. But if you just want coffee to wake you up, get the cappuccino! It's one of the best I've ever had. Finally I got to check-in to this bakery. It had been on my bookmarks for a while now, and initially it was for their baked goods. I figured I would one day order a cake here. After looking through the pictures I was driven here for their coffee. I didn't know what to expect because for one, it's a bakery, and two, its in Norwalk; not your typical hot bed when it comes to coffee. So my expectations were exceedingly low. First thing I noticed when I walked in was the coffee bar area and the place itself was clean and lit very well. Don't know why that mattered, but it made me feel at ease. I was immediately greeted by Sam who I assume was the head barista at this place. I asked him about some of the drinks on the menu and we continued on to talk about coffee and his prior work experience. It was a pleasant conversation that reassured me he knew what he was doing. So what I took away from my experience at candle light bakery is that they have a great coffee program with a barista who is very knowledgable about coffee and they have the right equipment to serve you top quality drinks. I can't fully rate the bakery itself because I was only their for the coffee and not their baked goods. I did happen to try their banana walnut muffin, and I will say it was a great pastry to go along with my awesome iced horchata latte. Based on that one pastry I don't think it warrants a full 5 stars, but in terms of their coffee and service, it's the sole reason I can give this bakery a four star rating. read more

Okay so I was sent on a mission to find some pastries and maybe a cupcake or two. So after class at Cerritos College I Yelped this location and I was not disappointed. The employees were very professional and very informative because I honestly had no clue what I needed. I got three basic kids cupcakes that my boys devoured and really enjoyed. For my wife I got her an individual size chocolate on chocolate cake which made her eyes roll back so I will say that was a good choice.
