I would really like to give this place more than two stars, but I could not find enough positives to do so. While the location is relatively convenient, the staff appear to be overwhelmed and not fully trained on operations. As a result, service was really lacking. It took almost an hour to check in because the reservation clerk was new and had to check in 5 other construction crew ahead of us. Dryer was also broken in the laundry room, and was not marked out of order even though others had complained about it. No breakfast either, so plan on going somewhere. Husband is currently staying there overnight while on a work trip. Worked a 16 hr day to wake up and do it over again, he looks forward to hotels especially working such long hours and he needs the rest. He checks in around 10pm and gets into his room and sees there's nothing on the bed except the mattress protector. Calls the front desks and says the problem and they respond with oh we can put a maintenance request in. He said no I'm staying one night and need sheets...? Common sense isn't so common these days. They said oh they can fix it in the morning. Still won't help the problem at hand for a one night stay. They bring sheets up and now he's making the bed himself. You'd think they'd make sure the beds are made especially with it being after check in time. Not too sure if the room was cleaned in general due to the bed. There's one body towel in the bathroom, probably left over from the previous people. But he's tired and doesn't feel like making a fuss. While visiting family in Waco for Thanksgiving break, I was impressed by the reviews for the Candlewood Suites. After being on the road I chose to utilize the restroom prior to check in. I was then rudely approached by the owner, maintenance man, and receptionist on whether or not "I had a room". ***** BEDBUGS ***** recently stayed at Candlewood Suites in Waco, TX. I attended an event for Veterans at the Baylor Club, returned to my hotel and went to sleep. When I awoke Friday morning, I discovered I'd been attacked by several bed bugs throughout the night. Upon realizing this, I stripped the bed and located the bed bugs, taking pictures of them as evidence. Additionally, I took pictures of the injuries sustained by the bed bug infestation. I had several bites on both arms and legs, my hip, and chest. With this information in hand, I informed the manager who asked me to send the photos to the hotel email. I did so and he reviewed them, offering a refund, however, since I paid through a thirty party vendor (Hotel Tonight) he was unable to do so. I've never been attacked by bed bugs before.. I'm not a snowflake, but let me tell you, it's a bit of a traumatic experience, perhaps because they're so unfamiliar. You're constantly worried about if they're on you, on your clothing and belongings. I heard they don't enjoy heat, so I washed my laundry in the hottest water possible and dried them on high heat twice. Now my items are in trash bags on garbage bag protocol in case they're still on things. My legs itched uncontrollably for days.. and yeah, I paid money to Candlewood to experience that. If you're considering staying at a hotel, do your homework. Look at Bedbugs.net or sites like that to make sure an infestation hasn't been reported at your selected hotel. * Update * I spoke to Hotel Tonight who stated they called the manager, (Christopher), who told them their exterminator didn't locate any bedbugs and everything was fine; so Hotel Tonight are unwilling to provide a refund. Clearly, there are bedbugs at this hotel. Really, are they assuming I'm fabricating his allegation!?!? Who makes this stuff up? I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND staying at Candlewood Suites or any of their affiliates. Honor, Loyalty, Integrity. Good luck! read more

New clean hotel, great location for visiting Magnolia Cafe and Market! I was driving through Waco, and just staying the night. I wanted to stay close to Magnolia Table so I could go there for breakfast. This Candlewood suites location does not serve breakfast. Check in was easy and only took a few minutes. Went up to hotel room, it was clean and smelled new. The whole building looked new. Parking was plentiful and well lit. Room was clean, hotel was clean. No major complaints or anything. Water pressure in the shower could be turned up a bit, as it didn't seem very strong. The guy who checked us in was working a double or triple shift, so he seemed a little on the tired side, but was still nice and answered all questions we had. For the cheap price, I would def stay here again. It is close to magnolia table, George's, Magnolia Market, and pretty close to Baylor University as well. read more

Staff were friendly enough and the property very convenient to the highway (I-35). Housekeeping seemed very inconsistent. public areas were clean and seemed like everything was in good repair but the room was a different story. The coffee maker was f I l t h y. Hair in the shower upon arrival. A nickel on the floor (are they being vacuumed?) . Damaged corner of wall. TV remote sticky and missing battery cover. The toilet didn't flush completely. It was not clogged, it just wasn't getting enough water. Not because it was a 1.2 gpf, the water level in the tank just wasn't supplying enough water. I literally was filling the waste basket with water from the tub and pouring it into the toilet to flush it . Not ok. Big plus for the chair in the room...easily the most comfortable chair I've experienced in a hotel in years. Also not a fan of this post Covid, not servicing rooms nonsense. Prices did not go down to account for less or fewer services, when traveling I don't think having a hotel room serviced is unreasonable. This is not just this property but it includes this property. Covid is over, let's get back to basic customer services. read more

Stayed at this hotel just for one night. Even though I requested a high floor we were out on the first. The room was large and nice but there were hairs everywhere in the bathroom. In the tub by the toilet, and on the towels. Didn't really have much interaction with the staff. Other than that the bed was comfy and the AC worked great. read more

More than pleased with this hotel! After a long drive from San Diego we arrived at our destination! Amanda at the front desk went above and beyond to accommodate us! She is friendly, pleasant and helpful! I am so glad we chose this hotel! If you are looking a super clean room and helpful friendly staff don't go anywhere else! Yes there's no breakfast here BUT the rooms have full kitchens (no oven but microwave and cook top) with cookware and everything item you need to eat and drink with, even a full sized fridge and a dishwasher. So what you don't get in food, you get in a small kitchen all set up and ready to go. They do have an on thy honor commissary food offerings, plus free coffee which was terrible. The rooms were very nice, roomy, nice TV and AC units, and are pet friendly with added fee. The staff we encountered were very nice and accommodating. Close to the interstate without being too close for traffic noise. Waco is small so it's a quick trip to get to anywhere from their location. We would definitely stay here again based on this first time experience. read more

Check-in was efficient and the receptionist (Amanda I believe) was very helpful in that my reservation somehow got botched and was made (through hotels.com) for one week later than I needed. The room was clean. Water pressure was less than perfect but hot water was plentiful. For the value, this hotel is barely a step up from a motel 6 or motel 8. Nothing whatsoever within walking distance, nothing scenic to see from the upstairs window, and no complimentary breakfast. But similar price ranges as nearby hotels that offer all those things. But if you're just looking for a place to crash overnight and don't mind paying a little extra, this hotel won't disappoint. *Pet friendly! read more

Smells like dogs in the rooms & I couldn't sleep with my allergies going crazy I imagine from all the pet dander. I don't understand why they wouldn't separate rooms by pet stayers and regular guests.....2 stars for the "visual"cleanliness, the smell was very concentrated and they have carpet. Never again. Do not stay here if you're allergic to dog hair! I own 2 dogs and I know for a fact my house does not smell like this. There isn't dogs there 24/7. No excuse. read more

My son and I stayed here on a Friday night in October 2018 - overall, it was a nice room, but I see this as more of a prolonged stay type of place rather than just one night: there is a mini kitchen complete with a hot plate, microwave, full-size fridge and freezer, etc. as well as laundry facilities you can utilize. The bed was comfortable, my son said the pull-out sofa bed was fine, and this is really a notch above a normal hotel room. read more

I have stayed in plenty of hotels in the Waco area and this one was top notch! I was able to get a discount for being a AAA member, which is always nice. When I hadn't been in to check in by about 10:45pm the guy at the desk, TJ, called to make sure I was all right. How nice! Check in was easy and they have plenty of cool amenities like a laundry room and a cabinet (with plenty of food and drinks so no lare night runs to the gas station for snacks). Nice, clean room. Hotel is very clean. Woke up and went down to get coffee, no milk or half n half. Asked employee about this and was informed that they work for a big corporation and they are not allowed to offer their customers milk or half n half Srsly?? This seems almost discriminatory. Fantastic experience at a newly opened hotel. We booked this hotel for one night and were pleasantly surprised to get a King studio suite with full kitchen for $100/night. We were greeted with smiles, and had a great check-in experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the long list of TV channels including HBO and other premium channels. The bed was very comfortable, and we had a pleasant stay. Best of all, check out is at noon. No breakfast is offered here, but it didn't faze us at all, just know that going in. read more
