***** BEDBUGS ***** recently stayed at Candlewood Suites in Waco, TX. I attended an event for Veterans at the Baylor Club, returned to my hotel and went to sleep. When I awoke Friday morning, I discovered I'd been attacked by several bed bugs throughout the night. Upon realizing this, I stripped the bed and located the bed bugs, taking pictures of them as evidence. Additionally, I took pictures of the injuries sustained by the bed bug infestation. I had several bites on both arms and legs, my hip, and chest. With this information in hand, I informed the manager who asked me to send the photos to the hotel email. I did so and he reviewed them, offering a refund, however, since I paid through a thirty party vendor (Hotel Tonight) he was unable to do so. I've never been attacked by bed bugs before.. I'm not a snowflake, but let me tell you, it's a bit of a traumatic experience, perhaps because they're so unfamiliar. You're constantly worried about if they're on you, on your clothing and belongings. I heard they don't enjoy heat, so I washed my laundry in the hottest water possible and dried them on high heat twice. Now my items are in trash bags on garbage bag protocol in case they're still on things. My legs itched uncontrollably for days.. and yeah, I paid money to Candlewood to experience that. If you're considering staying at a hotel, do your homework. Look at Bedbugs.net or sites like that to make sure an infestation hasn't been reported at your selected hotel. * Update * I spoke to Hotel Tonight who stated they called the manager, (Christopher), who told them their exterminator didn't locate any bedbugs and everything was fine; so Hotel Tonight are unwilling to provide a refund. Clearly, there are bedbugs at this hotel. Really, are they assuming I'm fabricating his allegation!?!? Who makes this stuff up? I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND staying at Candlewood Suites or any of their affiliates. Honor, Loyalty, Integrity. Good luck!

Loved our stay! Front desk was amazing! Every thing was clean. It was close to the silos, easy to get in and out.

We booked this hotel for one night and were pleasantly surprised to get a King studio suite with full kitchen for $100/night.

It is really close to the Silos and parking here will save you the $10 Silo parking fee. There is not always someone at the desk, nor does the phone always get answered. BUT, the hotel has EXCELLENT communication. We received a text before checking in with all the info we needed. Then, advice to text if we needed anything. Actually we sent a few texts that were IMMEDIATELY answered. Impressive! Even in the largest of other hotels, it can take some time to get a real person. We were immediately texted when we had a question about parking, then accessing the room, and others. I read on one review that there are about 10 parking spots. Actually, there are probably 25 to 30 in the lot. We found that we could park in the lot with no issues at various times. NOTE: Some spots are marked with "Reserved Parking". I asked the hotel and they related that hotel guests can park in those spots. We were told about possible train noise. We did hear it a few times, but it wasn't bothersome. In fact, there were ear plugs in a black pouch in the bathroom should this be an issue. There was also live music in the 4th floor bar until midnight. We could hardly hear it & we were on the 4th floor as well. BTW, there are superior views of the silos from the rooftop and other places in the hotel.

It is designed extremely well for a boutique hotel, and appointed nicely. What's it near? It's DIRECTLY next to the Dr Pepper Museum. It's only a five-min walk to Magnolia: Chip & Jo Gaines' shopping area. But, do NOT come here for the "breakfast bites", which is their substitution for breakfast. Sadly, there are only 2 breakfast foods, both bad for you: cereal laden with sugar & yogurt laden with sugar. And, for a boutique hotel, there was a lack of coffee. Yes, there was a coffee maker in the room with 2 pods for us, but no creamer. It was on another floor. We were here 2 nights, and the pods weren't replaced. No coffee the next morning and nowhere in the hotel to get some complementary coffee. That was odd because almost every hotel has coffee, some 24 hrs a day (Holiday Inn, etc). In summation, the location couldn't be beat. Check in was smooth with Courtney at the front desk. We would have never found this hotel were it not for a Travelzoo offer.

Easy walk to multiple restaurants, bars & shopping at Spice Market across the street and only about a 15 min walk to downtown Waco. Bar & restaurant in lobby, cleaning staff was very accommodating and friendly. Over all good average hotel experience but there are more modern hotels close by.
