The candy box has been around for decades, since 1954. I remember when it was located on Plumas St. in Yuba City. It has been a favorite of mine since childhood. Today, it has new owners and respectfully is still a favorite. It's a cute shop with a vintage feel that is very nostalgic to locals. I have to brace myself because I love chocolate and I find it very tempting during the holidays, most importantly during the month of Valentine's. They have all sorts of variations with cream centers, nuts and candies fruit and so much more. They offer all sorts of candies by the bulk price or packaged. This place is the perfect little traditional candy shop! I remember going here as a kid to get the Chewy Peps, & today I went back and fulfilled my childhood memories! They have all types of candies: chocolates, sours, chews, ice cream, and more! The chocolates are beautifully crafted, a nice selection! Many different hard and soft sweet candies to choose from. Stopped in today to find a Valentine treat for the college daughter. Listen up people: go here NOW. You will not find anywhere else that has so many options for customization. First, the sheer # of valentine box design options is dazzling for the 1 lb size. I think there were 15-20 options! There are also smaller sizes, but those have fewer designs. The boxes are truly fantastic...including 2-3 black heart shaped boxes...one with no print, and a couple with prints. My girl loves black. So she's getting the black heart-shaped box with red hearts and red lipstick lips. Next, my girl is a white chocolate fan (no haters, and no telling me white chocolate isn't chocolate - I just give the girl what she likes, k?). I was allowed to choose a pound of whatever I wanted to put in the box. So white fudge, white strawberry cheesecake truffles, white coconut truffles, white bark with little candy sprinkles and hearts, etc. went in first. She will accept some milk chocolate...so milk chocolate turtles, toffee, and milk chocolate key lime truffles rounded it out. 5 Stars because of the VERY VERY personable service. Their ice cream is very good as well. And guess what... for about $5 flat, my friend and I got 2 HUGE scoop cones each. So that's 4 HUGE scoops of ice cream for $5 flat. At coldstone... that would be around $11 Candy box also does chocolate... I never sampled any, however my friend did... and according to her... it was good and "it melts away in your mouth." Next time I am in Marysville... Great locally owned small business! The Candy Box has a great assortment of caramels, creams and house made ice cream. We tried the English Toffee (thick and crunchy!), 3 different kinds of turtles (milk, sea salt and white) and a few of the creams. Everything was delicious! The prices are also super reasonable for high quality, hand made candy. The business itself has been around for more than 50 years, but was purchased 3 years ago after the original owners sold. For the 130th Bomb Day parade the entire village comes out in support of this huge parade. Every Boy Scout and Brownie was out in force for the parade... really amazing actually. And, what is better then a small town parade but a giant scoop of ice cream and a sparkling proprietor who can regale you with the local history of the town. She will load you up with ice cream as well as some wonderful stories. Definitely a treat not to be missed. read more

This place has been around forever, the little old bitty is long gone but the current owner has worked for the original family for years. Excellent little Macintosh candies; these little pecan, caramel, and chocolate turtle type goodies. My nephew loved the Honeycomb, fresh and crisp dipped in chocolate. Have gotten the turtles, dark and milk chocolate, here for many years. I love them and the people I have given them to, say they love them. The quality has changed a bit at times, perhaps to be expected but at their best - they are delicious - buttery fresh carmel - fresh pecans and rich chocolate. The folks in the shop are the best too. They are nice, friendly people. They've been very efficient at mailing me a large last minute order. They gift wrap. I love this store and am so glad it is not in San Francisco because I really cannot resist their turtles. They come in milk chocolate and dark chocolate and in a mix in one box. Bumped into this place while at the Peach Festival during my peach ice cream hunt. As soon as we walked in, there were two young women to our right offering us a sample of their peach licorice and peach mint candies. I'm usually not a fan of licorice but that stuff was so good we bought 5 packs for $5. We didn't try the peach mints until after dinner and as a write this, I kind of wished we bought a bag of these too. For only $3 I had a double scoop of peach cobbler ice cream on top of a slice of peach pie. 3 words: TO DIE FOR! The service was very friendly. I felt really good making my selection and walking out with the little box of chocolate creams. The disappointment came when I took a bite of the coffee cream in dark chocolate I selected for me. It was too sweet and I didn't taste coffee at all. I like the contrast of bitter, dark chocolate and a sweet filling. Something is wrong here. I sent a box of creams to my mom for Mother's Day.
