Many choices, this is some.

Super cute find today on the exploring a new "to me" town. Very nice lady helping me with options. Cute place that takes one back before my time. Welcoming and easy parking on the street. And who can resist chocolate?!

This place is the perfect little traditional candy shop! I remember going here as a kid to get the Chewy Peps, & today I went back and fulfilled my childhood memories! They have all types of candies: chocolates, sours, chews, ice cream, and more! The chocolates are beautifully crafted, a nice selection! Many different hard and soft sweet candies to choose from. Most everything is sold by the pound, and while it's not the cheapest spot in town, I think it's the best! Pro Tip: get two bags of the Chewy Peps because you will regret it if you don't!

Stopped in today to find a Valentine treat for the college daughter. Listen up people: go here NOW. You will not find anywhere else that has so many options for customization. First, the sheer # of valentine box design options is dazzling for the 1 lb size. I think there were 15-20 options! There are also smaller sizes, but those have fewer designs. The boxes are truly fantastic...including 2-3 black heart shaped boxes...one with no print, and a couple with prints. My girl loves black. So she's getting the black heart-shaped box with red hearts and red lipstick lips. Next, my girl is a white chocolate fan (no haters, and no telling me white chocolate isn't chocolate - I just give the girl what she likes, k?). I was allowed to choose a pound of whatever I wanted to put in the box. So white fudge, white strawberry cheesecake truffles, white coconut truffles, white bark with little candy sprinkles and hearts, etc. went in first. She will accept some milk chocolate...so milk chocolate turtles, toffee, and milk chocolate key lime truffles rounded it out. Have you ever bought a Valentine's box with truffles, turtles, toffee, fudge and bark in it? I didn't think so. Seriously, go get yours now!!

Doug's Velentines candies were quite the hit with the mother in law and her daughter.

BUT NO MORE! The place sold a month or so ago. The new owners got rid of Dan and most of what he stocked: the stuff people like us regularly made special pilgrimages from miles away to get. Now--- its fast degrading into "just another over-priced, Indian-owned convenience store," where the service is rude at best because management has neither care nor respect for the customers. Holiday dinners will never be the same at a lot of Yuba-Sutter homes, without the 1500 lbs. of velvety prime rib Dan stocked in for us on holidays, and his recipe suggestions. Never again will I see Warrens' caller ID on my cell phone because Dan is calling to let me know "the fresh Dungeness crab is in, how many do I want?" and he'll put by a jar of Remoulade Sauce and a sack of ice for me till I pick it up during lunch hour, so it stays good in my ice chest till I get it home after work. RIP Warren's Neighborhood Market. We miss you.

It hit my nostrils when I walked in the door; the store now has an unsavory odor. With Dan gone, and a new owner, the place has gone other world, the meat downhill to the bottom. Though raised on a farm on which we raised our own meat, I didn't recognize a single exotic cut of meat in the display case, plus, the identifiers were written in a foreign language. When asked for an explanation of various unrecognizable cuts, the speech of the two meat cutters behind the counter was indecipherable to me. When I asked where the roasts, etc., were, one of the lads went into the back and brought out an over the hill looking slab of meat wrapped in plastic wrap. I finally said, "this just won't do," and left. I wouldn't trust the dodgy looking meat at any price. As another poster said, RIP Warren's Market.

I was treated fine and the food was great. I got biryani (goat, which wasn't on the menu but they offered to make it when I said it was my usual), and butter chicken. The biryani is the best I've had. Butter chicken is great, but dwarfed by the biryani. Garlic Naan is loaded with garlic, which I love, but probably too much for some. They didn't ask me for a spice level which worried me (from both directions). I assume I was given something on the more mild side, but still had a kick. Only critique is I'd ask for a bit more spice next time. Food was good. Service was friendly. They explicitly gave me advice for getting my order quicker next time (I walked in and had to wait, they recommending calling it in).

Every dish is bursting with authentic flavor, perfectly seasoned, and made with so much care and love--you can truly taste it in every bite. The portions are generous, the ingredients are fresh, and the aroma alone will have your mouth watering. The young lady must be the daughter there was so friendly and informative. I'm allergic to wheat and nuts and sometimes it can be hard to say no but the Indian dessert look sooooo good! Worth the breakout. I had to get a few. Thanks for being so patient with my 10 thousand questions. See you soon. Many more blessing to you and your family! Happy Diwali Day!
