So after we purchased a couple sweets we went outside and saw some beautiful doves and there was some birdseed right outside on a table we did just assume maybe it was to feed them and my children were so excited to feed them yes maybe we shouldn't have taken it upon ourselves to just grab a little bird seed to feed the birds but we did think it was there maybe to freely feed them so as my aunt opened the bag and called my children to put a little in there hand I saw the lady who owned the store just staring at us through the door with a very disgusting look she then ran acting completely hysterical yelling at my children and snapping the bag and saying OH NO!!!!! THIS IS A BIG MISTAKE!!! WE'LL HAVE ALL THE BIRDS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD HERE!!!!!! like they can't bite thru the bag you left unattended? And also may harm them with the digestion of plastic? ... Well it really scared my children and my daughter is autistic so it was very scary for her it honestly could have been handled a completely different and in a much kinder gentler way. I will be honest I did go back in after very upset, as a mother and a mother with an autistic child I will not stand for that we were nothing but pleasant and customers!! When I went back I told her how I felt and how she made me, my children and family uncomfortable she did say sorry but it wasn't genuine her face said it all you could tell she was stewing Then she actually got super defensive & all riled up again & tried to blame us for her unattended little bag of bird seed, It was ridiculous... They discussed the use in certain types of food you could add chilis into! it was Very pleasant, even though majority Spanish-speaking people. I enjoy the experience. You can buy 25 pound bags or just frozen chilies, which is my selection since the green chilies were not in the season! this is a good place to stop and experience the Mexican culture!

A nice courtyard welcomes visitors to come, browse and learn about historic Old Mesilla. And everything reasonably priced. Quite surprising for a small locally owned shop in a tourist area. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and quick to make recommendations for other businesses that might offer a specific item not on offer through the shop. I highly recommend stopping by (they also stay open a little later than many of the local shops in the area so you have extra time to browse for something special!).

Mew and Company offers a print that you can use water color paint on. You select one of the three prints and follow a model painting if you wish. It is very relaxing and a really a unique and inexpensive experience for $7 a print. I always stop here when in town to do a painting and see what new fun things I just have (but do not need).
