Very small personable cafe! Met Candy and she is a very nice lady! She was is the cook as we were there for breakfast. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was clean. I had the ham skillet with eggs and American fries. The ham was good tasting and the fries were cooked to perfection. It was priced just under $10 and I left full. read more

I can't wait to come back and might even come back tomorrow before leaving Lodi/Lake Wisconsin. Candy is as sweet as can be. Very intimate cafe and probably the best breakfast spot in the area. The baby cakes, blueberry cakes, sausage Patty, and gravy + biscuits POP! It's hard to find a good gravy with BIG sausage pieces and Candy nailed it. Would recommend for a classic greasy spoon experience. Had a nice breakfast at the counter. The food tasted great and was filling. The service was friendly but a tad slow. The bathroom was clean, but the flood prep area looked a little messy. It was nice being able to read the newspaper on the counter and chat with the locals. read more

Excellent service and food. Ok. We were the only ones there. But Candy was a great hostess/waitress/cook. Prices were very reasonable. I can see that people could get frustrated during peak times because it's not a big place. But, hey, if it's packed and you don't want to wait then just go somewhere else. The place is comfortable with what they want to be. So if you're the type that gets all huffy about waiting, don't go. Or, just check before becoming emotionally committed to eating there. read more

Quaint little village restaurant, like sitting down in Grandma's kitchen. We have visited before for breakfast (which was great), but happened to try the Friday night fish menu...and wasn't disappointed. The fried cod and shrimp we ordered was meaty and fried perfectly. One of our sides was green beans that were right out of the garden, and the dessert, rhubarb cobbler, was homemade extraordinaire...also home-grown rhubarb. Great little diner near the ferry in Merrimac. This is our second time at Candy's and the service and food was excellent and consistent. They serve breakfast all day (pancakes as big as your plate and great egg sandwiches), and have a nice lunch menu. Burgers, salads and other sandwiches provide a nice variety for the whole family - all were very tasty. Staff is very friendly and even for obvious "out of towners", they made you feel right at home. This will be a regular stop for us before/after skiing at Devil's Head and year around. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Hiked part of the Ice Age Trail (the Gibraltar Segment) and came out on the other side of Lake Wisconsin, taking the ferry across to Merrimac looking for a place to eat a late breakfast. Candy's is right off the ferry, an easy walk. An excellent pecan pancake with a couple fresh eggs and sausage links. Yum. Candy is very friendly and accommodating.
