    Southern Benedict

Had the southern Benedict and wife had prime rib skillet. We shared a homemade cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll came smothered in poured on creamy icing. It was delicious and very soft. Icing wasn't super sugary sweet but on the sweeter side. Benedict was very good. It came with one sausage and one chicken tender sized piece of chicken. The English muffin was giant, sausage was good the chicken was nothing special but the gravy was excellent! Eggs were perfectly poached. The prime rib skillet was solid. The prime rib was tender and veggies were fresh and slightly crisp. Eggs were ordered over hard but were over easy which admittedly is a specific order for eggs so not a huge deal. The hash browns were typical and nothing special. We both had the house coffee and it was a I would say a better than average "all you can drink " type diner coffee. Mild breakfast brew with low acid and smooth. Which for diner coffee definitely makes it an A in my opinion. Service was good, food came out promptly. Would recommend and plan to come back.

I stopped here for breakfast on my way out of town for dinner with friends so I left early to explore small towns on the way and check out a couple meat shops in the area. It's in a strip mall which can be hit or miss and this was hit because besides the counter all I but 2 tables were taken so it was packed and people eventually filled the lunch counter. The place is the small town sophisticated country charm as not to look divy with lunch counter, booths and tables. I sat in the small back room with my server on her first day who did a great job. The menu isn't Greek phone book but small town just right. I ordered the 1/2 biscuits and gravy with two sunny side eggs and two sausage patties which were not on the menu but she was a big girl today and said I can make that happen, no hassles about no substitutions. My food came quickly and looked but good but I could see that the thin sausage patties looked Sarah dessert dry on arrival. My eggs were cooked perfectly and tasty. The sausage patties were in fact super dry with a mild sausage flavor. The biscuits and gravy was slightly better than average with thick creamy grave that was plentiful with a little sausage in it. The biscuits were average lacking that tartness of buttermilk which in my opinion screams breakfast.

First visit to the Kosy Nuk in Cottage Grove Wisconsin (formerly Sonny's Cafe). I was very pleased with the new decor and vibe of the Kozy Nuk . It truly is a cozy little nook tucked away in a mini stip mall as you enter Cottage Grove. Friendly attentive staff greet and attend to your needs. The menu is extensive with lots of choices and options for even the most discerning dinner. The daily specials are clearly displayed on the chalk board walls I opted for the Pettie (Garden) Omelet Special . It came with a just right senior sized omelette, choice of hash browns or american fries, toast or a pancake ... AND a choice of a drink. All for $7.99! The food arrived promptly fresh from the griddle and was beautifully presented (as the picture will attest) Everything was delicious and the service was exceptional. I would highly recommend the Kozy Nuk to family and friends. But don't take my word for it... Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a positive dining experience of own!

This cafe replaced Sonny's café. We were not disappointed! They still have similar menu items so we can find something for everyone. The prices are still very reasonable. The cafe has been almost totally remodeled and looks very nice. It is also very clean. The staff are friendly and attentive... My coffee never ran out.

Classic with sausage patties and homemade wheat toast.

Parking at this…read morelocation can be challenging as the lot is small, but there is some street parking around the restaurant. Food 3/5: we're used to Minnesota old fashions, so the watered down version seems odd to us. We got on old fashion without a mixer , and it tasted like the added water to it. The cheese curds at this place used to be hand battered, but now seem frozen. The dipping sauce was a nice compliment, but not the most fresh. The kids loved their Dino nuggets with fruit and ranch. The Mac and cheese was buttered noodles with sprinkle cheese and didn't have an actual cheese sauce, we would not recommend. Everyone else at the table got some version of the fish fry. The haddock was cooked well and the portion was adequate. The fish sandwich was undercooked/doughy and was not good. I did like their tartar sauce and thought it balanced the fish well. Service 4/5: our waiter seemed a little overwhelmed and was attentive as he was able. He did get our kids orders in before ours which was nice. The food came hot. Ambiance 5/5: we were sat upstairs which was beautiful during the sunset. Overall this is a kid friendly place (upstairs at least) and our kids loved looking g out the windows and watching the cars and the sunset. Overall their food quality and options have changed over the years and is not as consistently high quality as it used to be. The menu has also changed significantly, so check before you come. If you need a kid friendly place, the have great kid options.

Of all the Danes, this is the Daniest!…read more Nice vibe, nice staff, and prompt service. My childhood friend Cara, and I enjoyed a pleasant lunch Thursday afternoon as served by Grace (with grace). We both had the Mediterranean Bowl (see photo). This order comes up fast, and it's a lot of food to satiate you. It could be saved for your dinner later. Overall, a good price, and for a little extra it comes with a filet of salmon (my choice) or chicken breast. For dessert we shared the black and tan brownie - served with French Vanilla ice cream on top and whipped cream on the sides... it was DELICIOUS. Just an absolutely fabulous dining experience! Thank you, Dane! Erik

Looks like a great place with the big log frame. Something about it says it should be great…read more Went after a soccer game, not too many people were in the place, about 8 at the bar and 3 tables in dining room. I'm not sure if they were under staffed but they seemed confused so no host was there and we kind of just stood there for a while. It took awhile but we were eventually seated. We were then seated. I believe the name Micheal was our waiter. We asked about drinks, not much in way of craft beers. So old fashioned,a Yuengling, a coke and apple juice. Granddaughter said apple juice was good! Friday night fish fry, what do they have? Catfish, walleye and cod. So we ended up with 2 catfish, a walleye and a cheeseburger. 1 catfish with fries and side salad. 1 catfish with baked potato and side salad 1 walleye with baked potato and side salad. Burger and fries. It took awhile for salad plates to come, it was A salad bar. Very basic salad bar, they are glad I didn't take pictures because the salad bar looked weak, not so much with topping but the lettuces looked old and barely enough for the 3 of us. They brought the burger, walleye and 1 catfish plate. Gave walleye and catfish to wrong people; we said I we think you have wrong people, they said no. You can kind of tell a catfish filet from walleye. He asked me to cut into my fish to tell the difference; he then agreed they were mixed up. My catfish had baked potato instead of fries. He said I'll get you the fries, I won't charge you for the baked potato??? Kind of strange response- why would you even think that. So we ate and pretty much done eating, my fries arrive. Oh well! He was gracious enough to say we gave you a few extras; my side didn't look any bigger than another guest portion. We enjoy hitting Wisconsin dive bars and usually they have great food! Actually the fish was good, but portions were small, 1/2 filet each for what we paid in my humble opinion. While we go back to revisit other past places while we are here, I very much doubt we will be back here. Maybe we just hit an off night since I see other positive reviews.
