Food is good, service is good, but decor could be upgraded. However, the taste of the food beats the decor.

Finally a great authentic Italian restaurant! I can't believe I've never tried this place! I had a friend tell me about it so I was very excited to try it out. They start out by giving is complimentary garlic bread which was so yummy! I also ordered a house salad before my meal and the salad was great... I love the mozzarella cheese on it and I got it with ranch and Italian dressing. I also saw a picture of the cheese garlic bread on yelp so I had to try it. It was good as well, but I could have done with out it because Italian food can be so filling already. For my entrée I ordered the pesto linguine which literally just melted in my mouth! It was so tasty and had me craving more and more until I could hardly breathe! Everything was prepared very fresh. The service was also great! Our server was very attentive and kept checking on us. Came to the restaurant and right away noticed how dirty the place was. The floors and tables were sticky and the silverware was full of old food debris. The servers looked very annoyed and frustrated as if they did not want to be there. Service was poor to the least they never came to ask how we were doing. It's my new favorite Italian restaurant. I am sad that I didn't find this place earlier since I passed by the exit every day to work. It's in an old complex with new Black Bear diner. Anyway, lunch special price is good and the pasta quality is better than chain Italian restaurants like Olive garden or Fazoli. The only thing Fazoli does better is their garlic bread but even that is still something that is hit or miss usually. read more

I have lived in the area for 15 years and have frequented Cannataro's for a few years. Always a great place to eat-very tasty and the staff is always friendly. Last night we decided to have dinner. I ordered my usual dish lasagna. I was enjoying it as always until I found a 3 inch piece of clear plastic wedged between the noodles. I returned the dish; the waitress apologized and asked if she can replace it. Now, my compliant isn't so much about the plastic; I understand mishaps happen in the kitchen. My compliant is about how it was handled. The waitress apologized and brought out a new lasagna but I would think a manager would have come by to also apologize and offer to remove the dish from our bill. After all, there was a piece of plastic in food your establishment served. But no, what was removed from our bill was a $6 dessert we had already ordered and a comment from the waitress "That was weird you found that so your dessert is free." which made me feel she was implying I put the plastic in my lasagna. I have worked in the food service industry and it was always a rule to offer a new dish AND a refund to any customer when something was found in their food. My goodness we offered a refund on the entire meal but all I received was a new lasagna which I paid for and a "Sorry". :-/ I did not complain at the time because I wanted to end my bad experience and leave. It's unfortunate, my family and I have enjoyed many great meals at Cannataro's but this one bad experience I will not be returning. read more

The 3 stars are for the food. The food here is so good and delicious! The only reason why this place didn't get 5 stars is because of it's horrible service. My boyfriend and I waited 20 mins to get seated and then another 10 to get our orders taken. Once we got our food we were left sitting in front of our plates with out any utensils or napkins. Waiting for our waitress was miserable. The food was amazing everything about it was perfect but the service was lacking. Need to get more waitresses when it gets busy. read more

So my friend and I tried this place for the first time the other night after hearing how Good it was, and all I have are great things to say! It's kind of hard to spot, because it's not a restaurant on its own. It's in a strip of other stores in the parking lot of carrows right next to comic madness. When u walk in you get the feel of old style comfort. Dim lighting, brown booths and great music! We didn't need to wait a long time to be seated, maybe about 5-10min. The waitress was Amazing! We let her know it was our first time there and she walked is through the menu from drinks to dessert. She was so nice! I ended up getting the vanilla cream Italian soda which was amazing and it came in a big cup, so I didn't even need a refill!They also give you complementary garlic bread for the table! So we ordered the sampler plate which came with a soup or salad, and we ended up opting for the wedding soup. That soup is soooo delicious!! I would go back just for that! Anyways, the sampler plate came with three separate foods. Fettuccine alfredo, lasagna, and a chicken that was like crusted with marinara sauce. All together the food was AMAZING! Needless to say we had left overs which tasted just as good the next day! We used both the deals they offer here on yelp so we got a free dessert and only paid about $10 each after all that food! It's a nice lit place. Good for a dinner for two or as a group. The bread they bring out at first is good. I had the Shrimp Scampi with a salad and my friend had Penne Primavera with a salad too. The salad was aight. The pasta was good. Fresh, good flavor. We also ordered cheese bread and that shit was fire. Nice, garlicky and gooey. But!!! The service wasn't excellent. Kept hearing the waitresses complaining. You could tell tere was tension between coworkers. Omg, the fat female server with blonde hair is a BITCH! First off as we were trying to order she was too busy talking and paying attention to everyone else. Because of this, we decided to give Cannataros a try based on a recommendation. I was not very impressed. The chicken marsala was not sweet at all, almost as though they did not use any marsala wine. This place met my expectations 100%. Take that for what it's worth because as a chef I can be more critical than many. Every element was great, the garlic bread was soft and well seasoned, the salad was good with good dressing, all the dishes had great flavor and reminded me of an Italian home cooked meal. One of the most important things at an Italian restaurant is aldente pasta. The linguine was spot on. The ambience was warm and welcoming and full of Italian feel. My wife and I came here on an early Saturday night. We were immediately greeted by the hostess who escorted us to an open table. The atmosphere appears to be Italian but what do I know, I'm Asian. I got the minestrone soup which was a bit salty but I think it was a minor mistake and hopefully it's not that salty all the time. I also got the chicken carbonara which was delicious. It had a lot of sauce, chicken, bacon, and flavor! The 2 rounds of Garlic bread is perfect with the meal. Overall I'm happy I came to a mom and pops spot instead of the usual Olive Garden. Super cute little Italian place. They have a great pasta/salad combo. They also have great garlic bread. They have really great portion sizes as well, I typically get the fettuccini and have it for at least 2 to 3 meals. I love their house salad with ranch as well. I have to write an update just to say again how fantastic this restaurant is. We went there recently for a birthday party that my cousin planned. There was about 35 people include about 10 VERY LOUD kids. My cousin reserved the back room for our entire party and it was really convenient because we had all the kids sit at the same table. We didn't want to order of their large party menu because everyone wanted to pay for their own and wanted to try different things. Cannataro's was nice enough to even do separate checks. With the two TV's in the back we were able to put it to channels that would distract the kids. Our waitress was great and it kills me that I don't remember her name. Julie, the owner, was there as well assisting her with orders and anything else we needed. We tried to keep the kids under control, but the commotion didn't phase the waitress. She was always so nice and helpful. The food was delicious as usual and the service was exceptional! Cannataro's is my favorite Italian restaurant and I can't say enough how great the service is! I was really disappointed with Cannataros. I got a coupon for $10 off, but even with that it wasn't worth it. The chicken picatta was really, REALLY dry. I asked for a child's portion of the cheese ravioli for my 1-year-old and I was charged for the regular, adult-sized portion. The waitress did change the bill, but I had to insist that she do so. The garlic bread was OK and the dinner salads were pathetic. I'm not a great cook, but I'm confident I can make better food at home! read more

Went here last night for a birthday dinner after it was recommended that we try it. It's a quaint little restaurant in a quiet strip mall next to a comic store and is very easy to miss. We ordered the hot wings to start and they were finger-lickin' good! Nice and spicy. I chose the chicken parmesan which was just the right portion of food. the chicken was cooked perfectly and there was plenty of mozzarella melted on top!
