This review will be solely based on the customer service we have received today on the 4th of July. As you can see by my previous review from 2 years ago I am a fan of Cannelle's pastries. Yes they are overpriced, yes the quality did go down tremendously however me and my family would spend at least $40 almost every weekend during summer time. Since they are next to the Farmers market that we visit. Today's visit we walked in with our starbucks in hand to purchase breakfast and more drinks to sit down and enjoy. Upon entry my daughter was ambushed and yelled at before she could even open her mouth and place her order she is a child if you need to address and speak to anybody you speak to an accompanying adult. The person behind the counter screamed "you can't be inside the store with the outside drink" new store rules, even if you want to place an order. Be aware! They have lost me as a customer and I will purchase my pastries someplace else, where staff doesnt scream at the kids. read more

Watched the video on the website because a friend of mine comes to MK Cannelle location in Ann Arbor and loves it. I was in the area for dinner and thought I'd check it out. It was just a 4 min walk. How could I resist. Walked in and you get the smell. It's great. The bakery case is not huge like in Ann Arbor it's about 1/4th of that. You can smell the fresh made coffees. And there are some places to sit toward the back. It's a long space. Not big. I honed in on the mango pastry and banana pastry. I have seen these on-line and was dying to try them. They basically look like the real fruit but it's pastry with mousse and the fruit on the inside. Other bakeries do this too I think it's like a fun trend. I got both and brought them home to Ohio. My partner and I cut them in half and tried them. They were both good. Each tasted like their respective fruit. I think the mango was slightly better. But I'd get both again. They are light. You'd might not think so but they are. You can eat one and it's not sickening sweet and heavy. The opposite light with a touch of the fruit sweet. Really good! The place is very cute! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I don't know the names of the desserts we got but I can describe them. There was an apple and lemon and a pistachio mouse and the last one was chocolate mouse s'more thing. The apple looked like an apple but was filled with cream and apple chunks and cinnamon and the cookie base also had apple pie filling. It was very light in flavor and looked so cute you didn't want to cut it. The lemon looked like a lemon but was filled with lemon cream inside with a cookie base that it sat on. The flavor was so lemony it was very good. The chocolate mouse tasted like a dark chocolate mousse with a sprinkle of biscoff cookie sprinkles and chocolate fudge. If you want chocolate that's the one. My favorite was the pistachio it had so much flavor you can taste the pistachio and the mousse was so creamy the top was crispy and crunchy to give more texture. This bakery is beautiful and has a nice outdoor seating area. The pastries were pretty expensive and I found them to be a bit underwhelming. The lemon tart crust was really tough to bite because of how hard it was. The lemon part was just ok. The trendy mango had a chocolate shell that was kind of melty (was looking for a crack). The inside was creamy with some mango bits inside but a bit bland overall. The croissant texture wasn't quite flaky and there was way too much cream on top. read more

Well, it is a bit pricey, you can tell a lot of care and skill has gone into creating their desserts. One thing they need to improve is their latte offerings, as they typically do not use espresso, instead using coffee. I asked about this, and was told that everywhere lattes are always made with coffee (and this is incorrect). So I recommend everything except you might consider wandering across the street for good espresso based drinks. read more

I have been to Cannelle's Birmingham location before and I've heard of its reputation as a fabulous patisserie, so I was excited to see they now have a downtown Farmington location. I was seeing a movie at the Farmington Civic and decided I would stop in if they were still open tonight, and they were. As one of the other reviews here says, the pastry case definitely catches your eye as soon as you walk in. Everything looked super nice and also delicious. It was hard to choose just two items for myself and my husband. I will say most items range from $8-9, which for me is a little bit on the pricey side, but they all looked really fresh and amazing. I ended up getting some sort of mango cake and also a PB&J pastry. I haven't tried them yet but they both look delicious so I'm excited to try them out today or tomorrow. There is an area to sit and it looks like they have a little outdoor seating area as well. I realize it's been open for over a year now according to other reviews here but it should be a pretty nice addition to the downtown Farmington scene. read more

Another great Canelle location! I've been to the Birmingham and Ann Arbor locations in the past and I was surprised to see that this location has hot food! I ordered the almond croissant (my normal go to) but I also ordered the caprese (heated) and it was absolutely delicious. The ingredients tasted so fresh and I loved every bite. I came early on a Sunday and it was relatively slow. I believe the almond croissant was almost $6 and the caprese was $11. I do think the croissants are the best thing on the menu, however for $6 each I think it's pricy! However, I don't come very often so this is normally just a treat when I buy at Canelle. I've been a fan since the store opened downtown Detroit so I was thrilled to see a location closer to me in the suburbs. We found ourselves with some free time on a cold wintery Sunday morning and decided this would be a great time to check it out. Walking in you can't help but be dazzled by the delicious desserts that await you. But don't forget to try a croissant, they are light and flaky and will win you over in a heartbeat. We always do something savory and something sweet, it's the perfect combo. They also offer lots of different coffee choices. I loved the soft jazz playing in the background. One word of warning is this store is small... Like only 4 tables small. We ended up waiting about 10-15 minutes for a table, and it was a fun place to spend a Sunday morning but I wish they had a bigger space for tables. It does look like they have a patio so during the warmer months there is more seating. Also, just a warning that one of the doors is right where the tables are and if you go on a super cold day be prepared for a blast of cold air every few moments. Very nice, but definitely on the pricey end. This is a charming little cafe, and the coffee drinks are really good, but they do take their time getting drinks to the table. We had some iced lattes and coffees and we really liked them, but the wait was a bit of a pain. I love seeing all the Cannelle's popping up everywhere! The interior decor is stunning, this one located in Farmington Hills is very quaint and small. It's longer than it is wide, so right when you walk in (from the door closest to the main street) you are immediately at the pastry cases and ordering counter. The flow makes a ton of sense though as you walk down through all the different pastry displays and then checkout at the very end of the counter. The seating area is 4ish tables max I believe? So if you're coming here during the busy time, I would probably say you're going to be taking your pastries to go. If you come on a random Monday afternoon though (which is what I did), it'll be pretty open and you'll be able to snag a seat! Service was lovely! I ordered a croissant (ham & asiago) and one of their more popular items, which was like a giant cream puff (I forgot the name ahh!). Given that it was the afternoon, I don't think my croissant was the freshest it could be and this was my first time at a Cannelle, so I didn't know that there was the option to warm it up for me before I checked out. When my friend came afterwards, she asked them to warm hers up and it definitely made all the difference! My croissant was sadly a bit "stale" and cold - still super delicious - but just always ask for it to be warmed up!! I've been to two other locations and the farmekrs market, so I had to try this one and was just as impressed! Like usual, everything was amazing and I will definitely be returning since it's so close! The coffee, I got a vanilla and caramel latte, was also splendid, but I really want to talk about the customer service! While I was in the store, we experienced a Karen encounter, and I was amazed by how calmly and professionally the employees were able to handle her. She was being very inappropriate and demanding, and they were somehow able to keep composure and politely service her anyways. They even apologized to me for being in the mix! I find this important because these situations can quickly get out of hand, and I applaud them for maintaining a safe, calm environment within the store. Cannelle opened its new location in Farmington today, and the community couldn't be happier. We've enjoyed their pastries and bread at the local Farmington Farmers Market on Saturdays throughout the summer. Now we get to enjoy them on a daily basis all year round. I love this small bakery. It has the broadest selection of croissant varieties I have ever seen. On top of that, their case is filled with some of the most delicious looking and carefully prepared connections. Some are standard cakes and some were themed (such as one called the Pac-Man). Located on Grand river is this pristine white building with black and white umbrellas and whicker inspired chairs that pulls you to see what is inside. A push of the entrance door triggers a being welcome from the staff who immediately ask if you have anything in mind that you like. The staff appear to know the basics detail of the pastries on hand so you got what she called a berry cake with mango topping. Turns out the it was more complex than a berry cake. It was a berry cake cover with white chocolate, with a berry jelly before layered with cream then covered with a mango and passion fruit syrup texture then topped with mango. The pastry was very intricate and she missed important details. I can't blame her since the labels were unorganized in an attempt to keep a clear showcase. I'm a big fan of cannelle before it became a big brand. It's a consistent stop for me if I want food with coffee. So far the coffee isn't the strongest suite for me. I've been to the Birmingham location and was so excited for this place to open in Farmington! Farmington is definitely becoming a foodie haven and this place does not disappoint at all.
