Called Cannon to repair our clothes dryer which wasn't drying clothes completely. The wait time was a week but because of past experience I wasn't going to call any other company. They partnered with Heises Plumbing out of San Francisco and the service was as expected. They were on time, correctly diagnosed the problem and had the needed parts (2). 30 minutes later we were drying our clothes like before. Sometimes you just have to wait for good service. Refrigerator still not fixed after 3 service calls. I'm a DIY, tech said thermostat needed replacement which was done by the tech and ordered from them. I have a 3rd party temp gauge, it was not at desired temperature to maintain safe food temperatures after the replacement of thermostat. Tech came out again as a free service call. Tech told me to replace the door seals and it would fix the issue, I did as a DIY buying factory spec parts, well it didn't. I called the company said its not fixed, they sent the same tech and he tried to enhance the the door seals and remove the excess the frost. Sadly my refrigerator is still not working correctly. I think part of the quality issue is the place change ownership and is now part of a plumbing company. After, I complained they offered a partial payment for expense for charges and tried to correct issues. Note this is ongoing, I may change my rating of this company. read more

This is no longer the Cannon Appliance that i knew & trusted for years. Sadly, they sold to this Heises Plumbing in SF and well, the change is very noticeable. I called for service on my refrigerator; the soonest they could get there they told me, was two weeks. Ok, i'll deal with it. Three days before they were supposed ti show up, they called me to reschedule. Another day or two, right. NO. They put me back at the end of the line, had to wait ANOTHER two weeks. Finally got the repair done - the guy was nice enough and competent - but labor charge was 50% higher than what Cannon charges PLUS ridiculous surcharges on parts and SF city BS. We've used Cannon Appliance for both of our sub-zero fridges and they have been great. The only issue I would say I had was getting someone on the phone when I called...maybe b/c they are so busy? But once you do get them on the phone, they do their best to assist you in providing the most appropriate fix, whether it is advice on diy or providing you with a range of options with an estimate in costs. And in comparison to other appliance companies, they are competitive overall in their prices, especially if you consider the overall work and security of Cannon's work and professionalism. The worst is when you research a price for an appliance part and find out that the part only costs a couple of dollars and find out that the company charged you a couple of hundred dollars for a 10 min job!! What the?? It's never a positive experience calling a company b/c one of your appliances is on the fritz however, working with Cannon makes it less painful. read more

There was a delay for parts/they moved their shop, The diagnosis was spot on and once the parts arrived the repair took an hour. Although everyone was nice and friendly, charge for $100 is bit ridiculous IMO for trip cost. We had washing machine that does not drain/spin and call the Cannon and the guy came out. After 5 sec he turned on the machine, he said the bearing needs replacement and it will cost lots of money (over $350). The trip cost $155 and he reduce to $100. I understand the trip cost money/time etc. but as a consumer, I have hard time to accept $100 charge for 2-3mins trip. read more

I have a Speed Queen washing machine that developed a small leak underneath. I waited for over 2 weeks for an appointment as they were heavily booked. Tom arrived and spent about 1 hour in diagnosing the issue. He did not find any issue with the washing machine and felt it was that water had collected behind the drum when it wasn't centered correctly. Tom was professional and l was relieved that my washing machine did not have any issue even though this cost me $255 to find out nothing was wrong. read more

Sad to say, not such a good review here. The business has been sold. Had a nice young man show up right on time, but he did not seem to know what to do as he was on the phone with someone else telling him what to do the whole time he was here. Had to order a part, came back and installed the new part, and he told me when he left that it might not work and we might need to order another, more expensive part if this one did not work. Well, as projected, the first part did not fix the problem. When I called to report the problem, I was advised that it would be quite expensive to order the new part and install, and I might want to consider just ordering a new dishwasher. I asked if I would be credited for the time and part I ordered and was told that the part worked for 5 days so, no. When I asked why the first fix did not work, the response was "I don't know". So, I cut my losses ($275) and purchased a new dishwasher. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but Cannon Appliance deserves the respect. I called when my dishwasher broke, and they got right back to me and connected me to Tom who was very knowledgeable about the problem, but also (understandably) very busy. Tom told me things on the phone that helped me to identify that the problem was a failed pump, and was willing to come out to fix for a fair price but was not available for a week. Because, Tom saw that I am a bit handy (and I had already diagnosed some aspects of the problem myself) he encouraged me that if I needed the repair sooner, I could replace the motor myself, and then helped me to get the right part number for my washer and order the pump. Now I have repaired the washer myself, and Tom did not charge me anything for his critical input. I will certainly return to Cannon for any appliance problems in the future! read more

Cannon Appliance is my forever go to for appliance repairs! Five stars is inadequate! Tom came to my house same day if my call - diagnosis my ancient refrigerator was finally dying. The bad news was compounded by the fact that I had recently fractured a vertebra in my back - I couldn't help him at all to clear his way to remove the fridge, not to mention I wouldn't be able to leave my house to shop for a new fridge (some things can't be done solely online!). He handled it all for me: he by himself moved the fridge out of my kitchen and down two flights of stairs and later the same day could fit it in to bring me a rental fridge from his storage. Again by himself brought the rental fridge up the stairs and into place. He also came back to pick the rental up the day my new fridge was installed - so I didn't have to worry about it being in front of my house. He is reliable, on time, fast, excellent diagnostic skills and just an all around pleasant person. He explains everything and his estimates and charges were exact and highly reasonable. Additionally, he is super careful around your house - he used every precaution to protect my floors and furniture, which I really appreciate. The two men who brought the new fridge banged through my house - luckily no major damage - but to point out as one person Tom made every effort to be careful, which takes care and major skill. No one is happy to need repairs done, but I will be thrilled to have Cannon Appliance come when I need them. I am so happy I called Cannon Appliance for my refrigerator repair. Due to Covid shipping delays...ordering the new refrigerator I wanted was going to take 3 months to get here. It was worth it to me to try and fix the one I already have. Tom was able to order the correct parts to get my fridge up and running again. He had to come out twice because it needed one extra part. While these guys are 5-star already, I had to put my vote in as well. I just used them for the second time when our Whirlpool washer started having sitting water when the cycle was complete. Same problem as last time - our filter was clogged with all kinds of stuff - small kids' socks, my wife's pony tail holder, a shell from a recent beach trip, gum wrappers, and various other "life/kids' stuff" from our house. There are three things I love about these guys: 1. They tried to trouble shoot it over the phone first, making sure we'd worked our way through the basic trouble shooting in the manual before sending someone out. 2. They showed up on time. 3. They fixed it promptly and tried to explain how we could fix it ourselves next time (just need to buy a special screwdriver). I called Cannon appliances and was told it would be $67.00 to come out which, would be applied toward's the labor charge. The tech popped out the freezer top and ran it under water at my sink. He told me i got lucky it was an easy fix, That took approximately 10 minutes max. He charged me $127.00 and said i would have ice in 1 hour, The next day there was still no ice, I called Cannon appliances back and was told it would be $169,00 more,for new ice maker, which i don,t think that is even the problem. I asked to have the tech call me back and I never received a return call. I disputed the charges because the ice maker was never fixed and it still will not make ice. Not cheap, but you get your moneys worth. I will use them again the next time something breaks (go entropy!). I had a set of problems --- a subzero refrigerator with a leak + an icemaker that never really worked and a viking with a non-working oven and a burner lighter problem. The older guy that came fixed everything in about 1.5hrs. He didn't screw around --- was out of breath from running up and down a ladder, crawling into oven, etc. Cost was $500 but that was mostly for parts. I'd use him again immediately (writing this review so I don't forgot who fixed things last time). As one comparison point: the previous owners of the house had had various other people out to fix the subzero but these geniuses had installed key parts upside down, leading to years of problems. The week before Christmas, my refrigerator stopped working. I called Cannon and was told that all service reps were off until after New Years. I described the problem to the woman on the phone, who nicely offered to ask a rep who happened to be there at the time. After some discussion, he offered suggestions as to how we could troubleshoot and possibly solve the problem. We took his advice and found, as he suggested, that the air was not flowing between the freezer and refrigerator due to an ice buildup. We were able to melt the ice and it solved our problem. I called about 10 appliance repair services to try to help me self-diagnose my 22 year old Maytag clothes washer's source of a malfunction. I am happy to report that (finally) a technician at Cannon Appliance led me through the decision tree on what the source of my problem was, and I was able to repair my washer myself. My stackable washer made a loud squeaking noise while agitating. Tom was able to diagnose the problem and fix an additional problem of water siphoning out of the tank with larger loads. He encouraged me to follow up on my warranty rather than book an appointment to replace the transmission. He gets high marks for punctuality, courtesy, professionalism and honesty. Their team rose to the challenge and then some. Yvette kindly listened to my concerns on the telephone and reached Tom quickly. Tom realized that there was urgency, because the food was still in the oven days later. He arrived on schedule, immediately surveyed the situation while respecting all COVID-19 norms, quickly diagnosed the underlying problem, and, while I stepped outside for about three minutes to retrieve the broken opening handle, Tom had expertly and elegantly opened the oven. Overpriced appliance repair. I was referred to Cannon and they came out the following week. I asked the man to explain his charges and he said that his time begins when he "sounds the door bell". One hundred fifty dollars to come out which includes a half hour of work and then was charged an extra $75. Wow! My husband and I helped him the entire time (moving refrigerator, opening/closing water/ getting a towel/bucket) and he also accepted two phone calls for work on my time. All in all it cost me $334,18 to fix the water and ice makers that were frozen in refrigerator. I am not sure that the part was even needed at $119.18. I saw on Google that the part was $24-$50. I could buy a new refrigerator for $1000 to $1500! I am very disappointed and will not use this company nor refer them to anyone else. read more

I contacted Cannon Appliance for maintenance support related to my brand-new Whirpool dishwasher. They charge $100 for the first 15 minute inspection. The appointment was scheduled after a couple of days, and Chris came out and checked the dishwasher for 5 minutes and told me that there was an issue with the pump. He quoted me a price for a replacement pump and would include additional labor. However, I decided to cross-check the warranty with Whirpool as it was a newer appliance and they sent out their technician. He checked the dishwasher for 5 minutes too and found a piece of glass stuck in the dishwasher pipe. Disappointing experience with Cannon. If a service is charging $100 for a few minutes, I would expect the assessment to be accurate. They were completely off and cost a lot for a non-issue with the appliance. read more

I cannot praise Cannon Appliance, Technician Chris and Office Person, Vicky highly enough. Yesterday a part broke on my washing machine. I was in a panic since we're going on vacation tomorrow and I had three loads of wash to do and wet clothes and water in the machine. Vickie calmed me down, gave me an appointment for today, helped me identify the part and ordered it so that Chris could pick it up today on his way to our house--that's awesome service! Chris arrived and he was courteous, extremely knowledgeable--even showing me exactly what he was doing so I could do it myself next time :-). He very quickly and efficiently did the repair, put things back together and was finished in 15 minutes--he charged me for the cost of the parts and the $85.00 for service which I was quoted on the phone. I had asked Vickie for the cost and she explained the minimum $85 charge for the service call which INCLUDES the first 15 minutes of service; the next 15 minutes is billed at $30, etc. If they don't have the part and have to order it and come back, they DO NOT charge another service call but go to the hourly rate schedule. I called a half dozen appliance repair people yesterday before I could find one that could give me an appointment today. Not ONE of them would come out and give a free estimate--companies , unfortunately can't afford to do that anymore--and most of them quoted higher rates. Chris even took a quick look --no charge--at our oven which we've been having problems with. I'm going to recommend Cannon Appliance to our landlord for the oven repair. In this day of poor service companies and personnel, Cannon Appliance stands out as the kind of company with old fashioned values, excellent work ethic, awesome personnel, and great service. Fortunately, my appliances have not needed repair too often...but it does happen. I had had unsatisfactory service in past years from a couple of companies - so all I knew was who would NOT be considered this time! (Sorry, Peninsula and Atherton Appliance, but you are the culprits - slow, bad attitude, unsuccessful repairs!) I tried to set something up for my broken clothes washer with a few other companies, only to be told that they did not service my area (Menlo Park) or could not come for at least a week, etc. Finally, I tried another name that came up on my google search: Cannon Appliance in Redwood City. They were more than willing to get to my job right away, and were more than accommodating about time. Unlike some companies that require you to be home for a four hour period, no exceptions, Cannon worked with me to find a time acceptable to all concerned! The repairman told me he would need to order the part. He phoned me about 3 hours later, in the evening, to let me know that he already had the part and could install it the next day! I have a need to post a second review for Tom of Cannon appliance. My subzero wine/2 cold drawer unit developed a huge issue with holding temperature. Subzero requested he take the unit to the shop (v v v v heavy) and completely strip it down to find the leak and replace the parts (under warranty). They've ALWAYS solved my problems perfectly and quickly, including a couple of very subtle problems that most guys would definitely have gotten wrong. I find their prices to be very reasonable, as well. One time they actually gave me very detailed instructions over the phone regarding how to fix a problem myself. Those instructions fixed that problem and they charged me NOTHING. And this was for a problem they had not previously been involved in. Our 10 year old Maytag refrigerator was malfunctioning. The electronic keypad was kaput, the ice maker had long ago failed and over the Thanksgiving holiday when it was packed full items in the rear of the refrigerator had frozen. So we called Cannon and Ms. Vicki called us right back. We arranged a meeting at a mutually convenient time. We were told the initial charge to inspect, diagnose and provide an estimate would be ~$130 because it had two issues. Ok, it seemed a touch pricey but I wasn't complaining. Tom arrived and was fast and efficient in inspection. He identified a likely defective water valve for the ice maker and probable keypad replacement. He didn't stock the parts and we agreed upon a price for parts estimate. If the parts were going to cost more he would call me, if not, he would order. He left without charging me for the visit, saying we'd take care of it the next time. A day later he called and told me the price for the parts was less than our agreed limit so he ordered them. The parts came in, he came back and installed both the keypad and the water valve in no time at all! This included disassembling the freezer drawer, basket and ice maker. Also he removed the back panel and replaced the water valve and reinstalled the panel. He spent quite some time thawing out the water tube for the supply to the ice maker and even found time to wipe clean the bottom of the freezer compartment. He really hustled but yet was thorough, thoughtful and conscientious about his work. He was careful to take no chances to leave anything to luck, he checked all his work prior to announcing the work completed. The amazing part was that he did all this in just under an hour!! When combined with the time from the initial inspection my total time was ~ 1 hour 15 minutes! Wow! It would have taken me that long just to get all my tools out. I was delighted to have the ice maker back in service, the keypad once again functional and EXTRA happy NOT to have to purchase a new refrigerator! I had searched on line to see what I might want as a replacement and a new one was about $3,000. Cannon Appliance got my existing one back in service for less than $500. He took a personal check with no questions asked. I'm happy. If I have future appliance repair needs I"ll be calling this local, independent, EXCELLENT business. It turns out he lives mere blocks from me. I love it, this is shopping locally to me. read more

I cannot say enough about Cannon appliance. I called them because of a Yelp review and was not disappointed. We had numerous issues: Kitchenaid stove burners that wouldn't light, a refrigerator with interior finish issues, a washer with several problems, and a non-working dishwasher. He fixed the stove, refrigerator, and washer. He couldn't diagnose the dishwasher issue; he asked to take it back to the shop, but he wasn't very optimistic. We went out to price new dishwashers. In the meantime, something else went wrong with the washer. We were getting depressed. He found the problem with the dishwasher, but had to order parts from Germany, which took several weeks; meanwhile, he came back with parts and finished the outstanding issues affecting the other appliances. He checked the washer, but thought the parts would be prohibitive. He took it to his shop. We went to price washers. Lo and behold, he was able to fix the washer. Now everything works, the dishwasher and washer work better than they did before. I will warn that it was not cheap, but he did not ask for any money until it was all done. Most importantly, it was done really well. I highly recommend Cannon. read more

They are great. Vicky called me right back to let me know that they found the piece for my dryer and how long it would take to arrive. She keeps me updated about the progress on my dryer and the prices. The only thing that I was missing in the other people reviews is the prices. So at the time of my service in March 2014 it was : If you bring the item it cost $60 for 30 min and $30 for each 15 min after that while if they come to your house it is $85 dollars for 30 mins and $30 for each 15 min after that. I called Cannon Appliance to repair my Electrolux Icon ice maker that was not making ice. I left a message and within 1.5 hours the call was returned by a nice women that explained they do not repair Electrolux Brand (darn). However, she gave me the telephone number of a company locally that does. But that's not where the customer service ended. She then proceeded to walk me through the most common problems to trouble shoot my issue and said try these first...they may save you an unnecessary service call. Since I was in my car I haven't tried her helpful hints yet but I will. She took the time (almost 10 minutes) to help me even though they don't repair my brand. Now that is customer service and should I need any appliance repair in the future these are going to be my first choice. read more
