The grounds a hotel is well kept and definitely a very comfortable place. The bed is very comfortable and firm just right. There is water filling stations in the hotel as well so you can refill your water. However, you have to be careful with a different fees they charge. Parking is $47. There is also a night kit that is $14 if you use it. So just be careful on what you use. Unfortunately, there's not really much parking options downtown Tempe so you're kind of stuck. The layout is nice, but I would've preferred that the closet is able to have a door to close rather than just open.

Shout-out to GARRETT!!! Garrett is one of best bartenders in downtown Tempe!!! They have the best burgers in my opinion, as I've had them several times. The ambiance is awesome on the rooftop where you can take breath taking photos over downtown Tempe. You don't have to be a guest to go on the rooftop! I took my Auntie here for a goodbye view after taking her to din din in the area. We really enjoyed ourselves. I'm looking forward to returning as usual.

Beautiful new modern hotel in downtown Tempe. The hotel is located one block from Mill Ave. which is the hub for dining and shopping. You do not need a vehicle is you are staying in the Tempe area. There is valet parking for $39 a day or self garage parking for $20 a day. The lobby is gorgeous with eclectic chairs and a fireplace. There is also a bar and restaurant. Check in was super quick and easy. We were upgraded to a high floor corner room for being a Hilton Honors member. The room was modern and clean. The bedroom was separate from the bathroom area and separated by a barn door. The closet area had a coffee nook and a cooling drawer for perishables. Instead of an iron a very nice steamer was provided. Check out the rooftop deck bar/restaurant. They have a regular happy hour and a reverse happy hour. The views are amazing. Definitely try the guacamole, salsa, chips appetizer.

When I visit the Phoenix area, I typically stay in Scottsdale, so Tempe was a new location for me. The ride from the airport was super quick (and who doesn't appreciate that?). On the plus side: + Love the glass water vessel and the ability to fill it up down the hall (I want this amenity standard in all hotels!). + Clothing steamer + Taco Tuesday on the rooftop (and the excellent bartender with her festive holiday mixology who made our afternoon) On the minus side: - Couldn't close the curtains fully so had to make peace with sleeping with more light that I'd like - Slightly uneven water temperature and pressure in the shower For my quick, one night trip, the Canopy and its staff treated me well. I only wish I'd been able to nab a cinnamon roll in the downstairs restaurant before I flew out. Maybe next time!

I really love this property! The staff is amazing, especially thaylor (spelling might be off). I've been hosting my National trainings here for a couple years now and every year they get better. The sales/convention space team is odd but everyone else is great. I only say that because I've never actually met them. I work with them for years and they never show up to say hello or introduce them themselves and if i need them on a weekend (during my event) they aren't around and don't answer calls. Besides that, this hotel is wonderful. The food, the rooms, the drinks, and the pool.

Location and decor were great. Walking distance from ASU and lots of places to eat. Room was very cute and the vibe was great. The bathroom and closet area share a space, so it makes the area seem bigger, which is nice. The bathroom amenities were different from other Hilton properties. Apotheke Charcoal is a very distinctive fragrance. If you don't like earthy medicinal smell, use your own products. What was a bit of a disappointment was the parking. Self-parking was $25 per ENTRY. Valet was $40.00 per night. Each time we parked we got a text to encourage tipping. The recommended was $7.50 each time. That seemed a bit much. So we tipped cash. If you need to be close to ASU this is a great location.

I'll start off by saying the front desk was extremely nice and the lobby is gorgeous. We came here today to celebrate a friend's birthday, she rented out 2 cabanas on the rooftop. We were really excited for this! From the minute we got to the pool, the service was lacking. There was only 1 bartender and no server for the cabanas however the bartender told us to order at the cabanas? She also said that she would come back and never did. We also ordered a guac and buffalo cauliflower and we got it 30-40 minutes later, cold. We then had the pleasure of meeting SLADE. Who gave us the attention and service that we needed. He went above and beyond to make sure that not only us, but everyone in our cabanas were taken care of. I'd assume that each cabana would have a server of their own, as many of the others we've gone to have that. Maybe this is something that you guys should look into having.

The one unbreakable requirement for a hotel is to enable a good night's sleep. This Canopy by Hilton fails that test. Even on the 7th floor, the street noise from University Boulevard sounds like Pit Road at NASCAR. Cars without mufflers, racing or revving their engines, all night long. Loud enough that my wife could hear it on the other end of a phone call. It's obviously a known problem, because, when I arrived, there was a pair of earplugs and an apologetic note on the bedside table. I've never seen that before, even at hotels on airport property. Maybe the builders cheated on sound insulation. Or they used double-paned glass when they should have used triple-paned. Or maybe some carpet would have helped. I don't know. What I do know is that (1) I called downstairs to see if I could move to a room in the other side of the building (no), and (2) I'm checking out a day early to find another hotel. Otherwise, this place is unremarkable. Nice rooftop bar. Nice lobby restaurant. Excellent friendly staff. Typical corner-cutting on the room: Refrigerator set to 50°. Invisible bedside light switches. Cheap mattress. All of that would be forgiven if I could only have gotten some QUIET.

The food was flavorful the view was delicious! The staff were all perky & pretty as well What a memorable place to have drinks ! We took Uber from the airport and our ride met us here ! We felt so sauve for doing so ! Parking was complimentary with our dining at the AlABI rooftop restaurant. I love the look of the pool here .... and "resort pass "has day and also night time passes ! Definitely shall return

Mixed review, but hotel is a safe & clean location for lodging that is next to ASU. Price is very high, but pricing in this area is extraordinary at all hotels. Ambiance is very nice - industrial vibe with alot of orange. In fact, businesses on this street really like orange. Pros - Clean room with the basics. Staff is nice. Location is good, but I wrote that already. Trendy decor. In-room coffee maker & fridge. A variety of options in room for drinking water. High-quality toiletries provided, so no need to bring your own. Onsite parking & bike rental. Restaurants, bars, & pool. Awesome views from room. Ample seating & work areas on main floor. Luggage storage before / after in case you need it. Shower water turns on from door, so you don't need to stand under cold water to turn it on. Nightly activities for all guests & some are open to the public. 2 desks provided in rooms with plenty of room for storage. Cons - Poor lighting in bathroom-I can't see my face! Mattress has a lean to it because everyone sleeps on the same side & it isn't flipped for balance. Coffee pods taste 'dusty' & should be replaced more frequently for freshness. Concrete floors are unpleasant to walk on & no slippers are provided. Use stairs at your own risk because they do NOT open to the main floor. Use exterior doors at your own risk because they are NOT unlocked with any consistency-guests waiting are expected to open the door for guests arriving (wait.. what? WHY?). Shower has hot water, but you've got to be a plumber or have time to figure out how to use it. Parking costs $$ for guests. WORST MOMENT -- On my last night, the TV turned on with a greeting for JOHN with HILTON HONORS DIAMOND. ummmm.... that's not me. I was assured by the front desk staff that this is an ongoing issue with the TVs and John had a different room for the evening.

I had a great stay at Canopy while in town on business. The facility is conveniently located, and the front desk staff were very helpful when I needed help finding a place to shop for business casual attire. The facility itself was very clean and I personally loved the decor. My room was great. I'm not a big fan of carpet in hotel rooms generally because you never know how often they are cleaned, and you don't know what might be in those fibers. I loved the floor in my room here. it was clear that it was clean and in good condition as well. My double room was spacious, and the amenities were good. I had a Nespresso machine in my room and it was always re-stocked with new pods. Added bonus was the steamer which I like a lot more than an iron. The steamer was fantastic on my clothes, and I felt polished and put together as I left every morning. The desk area was not that conducive to working for me. Lighting was too dim and the desk area too small. I made it work and thankfully i was walking distance to the meetings I had to go to so it did not present much of an issue. I recommend this location and will return for either business or leisure in the future.

Duvet is a the studio suite option. Also stained sofa. Ordered sheets to cover.

first night. Bummer a few things kinda gross. Couch has a big stain... duvet legit has a big maybe pasta stain w like lemon totally crumbs. Staff is amazing they immediately came in and changed but as far as sanitation... which is my biggest thing i'm not happy. Do love the cement floors and beautiful carmel's they offer at front desk. Parking confusing sweet girl at front desk had a "I don't know" about parking situation. Had a couple cocktails at bar. Bartender lovely. Cocktails about 17-20 bucks and they are ok. Not amazing. But service here is impeccable. However in same breath for the price i've paid definitely wouldn't return. Cleanliness is all I care about aside from service ofcourse

Earplugs left for me by the bed. An indicator of the outside noise that occurs all night.

I'm a little underwhelmed by this hotel. I'm here on business and it gets the basic hotel objectives done by providing you a bed, a shower, and on-site amenities such as a restaurant and wi-fi. But for my money and preferences, it would not be in my top picks in the future unless I needed to be near to the heart of the ASU campus. The things that may appeal to many in the hipster crowd is that there are plenty of younger, college aged people around and there are plenty of places for food and beverage nearby within east walking distance. It also has a young, industrial decor feel to it with plenty of concrete flooring and modern types of furnishings (think IKEA had a baby with a prison designer and you will get the picture). I'm sure this appeals to the younger traveler that favors form over function and pretty over productivity. Unfortunately that is not me but it is the Canopy by Hilton brand appeal which is pretty good at subtly pointing out to me that I am simply aging out haha! Now here is what I didn't care for: 1. As some have pointed out, it is loud with outside noises heard in the room. I don't know if this is due to cheap construction with little thought to soundproofing or the fact that the younger crowd in the area like to drive vehicles with loud ("look at me") exhausts or both. But either way, there is a fair amount of noise in the rooms facing University Avenue and you will hear it at all times of the day or night. They put some earplugs by the bed as an acknowledgement of this but that is a bit like putting a bucket in your room to use because the roof leaks. 2. They have a mandatory valet parking service here for $30/night. I don't mind paying for that at upscale establishments or when the parking situation is complex. But here, the parking garage is literally 5 steps away from the front entrance. To top that off, the valet attendants go home at night so good luck getting your car before they come back on duty again in the morning unless you told them you may need it overnight in which case they leave your keys at the front desk and you go get the car yourself. If you are going to make me pay for a service that is only partially available and I still have to go get my own car overnight, that seems abusive to my wallet for no good reason. 3. I did let the valet know I might need my car. When I got my keys early in the morning, I found my car parked in the handicapped parking spot. I appreciate that they probably did that to make it convenient for me as it is the closest to the hotel entrance but I am not handicapped and the vehicle was not placarded as such. I have had a career working in healthcare and public safety so seeing my car parked here when it is unwarranted and illegal was not really appreciated by me. There are people that actually need these spots and I do not. The use of the spot by the valet in this fashion leaves a bad image of the valet experience in my mind. In summary, it's a basic hotel with some churched up aspects to it. It will look good to the non-discriminating traveler that values form over function. It is part of the Hilton Honors loyalty program but there is nothing great here for Hilton loyalists (I am a Lifetime Diamond member and received nothing special and not even an acknowledgement of that at check-in). For the same money, the Phoenix area has some great mid-level properties to stay at in my opinion. This is not one of them.

This is a long overdue review for this amazing hotel…read more I've visited Tempe to attend the Innings Festival three times now. Each time staying at a different Marriott property: Aloft the first time, Westin the second time, and at this Residence Inn during my last visit. And I have to stay, this was probably my best stay. Location wise, this property is a couple of blocks away from the Westin. But still within walking distance to the Innings festival site. The nightly rate to stay at this property was also much lower in comparison to Westin and/or Aloft (at the time of booking). And being a Residence Inn, obviously breakfast is included in the rate. Anyway, the check in process during my stay was quick, and the staff was super friendly and hospitable. Actually, all the staff encounters I'd had during my stay were super pleasant. From offering me a bottle of water when I had purchased a pack of ibuprofen to just a simple hello and a smile as we're walking by the front desk. I don't think I've ever stayed at any Marriott property where the staff is just overall pleasant! During check in, I found out that my room had been upgraded. I had originally booked a room with two queen beds but got upgraded to a two bedrooms suite with a personal bathroom in each bedroom. The hotel room also had a little common area and a kitchenette. Awesome! The noise level at this hotel was pretty much on par with every other hotel I'd stayed in so I'm not complaining about that. I thought my bed was comfortable and I always had a good night sleep during my stay here. Breakfast foods are pretty much what you'd get at any other Residence Inn. You get your eggs, sausages, potatoes, juices, waffles, etc. And although the hotel was sold out during my stay (or so I was told), the line for breakfast never got too long. And although I didn't drive here, there's a parking garage (I think public parking garage) attached to the hotel and I believe it was only around $15/night to park there. So they weren't charging insane parking fees that hotels located in downtown anywhere typically charge. Would I stay here again in the future? Hells to the yes!

The property itself is fine, but based on my experience, I'd strongly recommend reviewing your charges closely and getting everything in writing!

The BIGGEST concern, however, was the pricing at checkout. We purchased a bottle of wine that is normally priced around $10-$12, at Ralph's or Vons but we were charged $72. That markup was surprising and honestly didn't sit well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but better communication with housekeeping and more transparent pricing would make a big difference. The gym is perfect for a work out just enough space without being huge. The only things I wish it had were a hot tub and breakfast would've been great but I'll definitely be back :)

It's a lobby bar/game room and the bartender also serves as the person who checks you in. Rooms are bare minimum: thin mattress, no comforter just a blanket. No rugs or couch or any furniture and the walls were thin, making it hard to enjoy a quiet stay. The blackout curtains worked well. There was a huge beanbag chair which was fun. I didn't mind the lack of a closet. I thought the concept of hangers on the wall itself was funky, functional, and a better use of space in most cases. The "ironing room" -- a supposed area stocked with towels, toiletries, and other amenities. Unfortunately, it was completely understocked, for basic supplies like towels. It's clear there's a lack of attention to detail when it comes to maintaining the hotel's resources. There was a hotel restaurant but free breakfast is limited (parfait, fruit, muffin) not like other hotels in Marriott Bonvoy hotel chain offer. And overall this hotel is in a great location. Close to downtown Tempe as well as quick freeway access. Location is the only redeeming quality. The location is ideal, with a CVS right next door for any quick needs, and it's incredibly easy to catch an Uber, Lyft, or even a Waymo to explore different areas around the city.

The fourth floor looks terrible -- there are empty, broken-down rooms and the hallways feel neglected. The carpet on both the fourth floor and first floor is in very bad shape and looks like it hasn't been maintained in a long time. Inside the rooms, the flooring is actually popping up in areas, which makes the whole place feel worn out and poorly maintained. Overall, the hotel just looks very old and neglected now. The elevators are another concern. They make loud noises and honestly sound like they could break at any moment. There is also an unpleasant smell in parts of the building. When you get off the elevator and walk toward the lobby, you can see construction going on, which only adds to the messy and rundown feeling of the property. This place used to be a great stay when we first came here, but now it's honestly pretty shameful to see how much it has deteriorated. The location and concept are great, but the hotel clearly needs serious maintenance and attention.

There is a small supplied kitchen and refrigerator plus cooktop stove and small refrigerator freezer. You easily could live there for months. It has a high top dining and working counter. It has a large screen tv that swivels for watching from bed or living room. It has a clothing closet. It has two low dressers four drawers total. And a nightstand. TV stand has some small shelves. By door you find a shoe and pantry nook for small food storage. Also has a dishwasher. Pros: Can cook and eat there. Rooftop pool with bar. Great location by arena and football stadium. Walkable to restaurants, Trader Joe's, ASU Tempe campus, light rail and buses and transportation center all right there. Town Lake and office complex a few blocks away. Free breakfast every day that's pretty good and varies a little each day with free coffee and other morning drinks. Has a workout room with a great view. Very friendly and helpful staff, went out of their way twice to fetch sweetener and ice. Small convenience store next to front desk. Reasonable daily parking fee that includes unlimited in and out privileges Cons: On a five night stay, housekeeping only checked on us 2 days. Needs small repairs here and there. Example: 2 or 3 drawers had loose pulls that needed screw tightening, saw a weather strip partially detached from door frame. Small workout area had limited equipment. One treadmill was broken one day and I had to wait an hour for the treadmill hog on the only working treadmill to get off despite posted 45 minutes max use rule. Other equipment like weights a bit limited. They allow pets and one day we had to deal with a barking dog somewhere morning and night. We complained twice and the hotel staff could only say they tried and that people are not supposed to leave their pets unattended. Bella from light rail every five to fifteen minutes if you get the southern/western side of the building.

We were staying one night in Phoenix before our flight and decided to book through our Hilton Honors account at a DoubleTree. The location we originally wanted was full, so we chose the Tempe property instead. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. The woman at the front desk was very standoffish. When we asked about room rates, she quoted a much higher price than our Hilton Honors rate, so we decided to book online while standing in the lobby. When we went back to check in, she told us we had to wait. I also asked for one of the famous cookies, and she said they "weren't ready." She offered no welcome, no information about the hotel, and didn't ask any questions. If you're the face of a hotel, a warm and friendly attitude makes all the difference. Once we got to our room, things didn't improve. The property itself feels very old and outdated. The carpet was torn right at the entrance with sharp pieces sticking out, the AC was loud and squeaky, the headboard wasn't attached to the wall, and we heard a strange tapping sound all night long. We decided to give the property another chance by trying the on-site restaurant, Milagros. Unfortunately, both meals, the ribeye and fajitas the ribeye was raw (and made my husband sick later) and the steak on the fajitas were super tough and both were disappointing. The steaks were poorly cooked and lacked flavor. The one bright spot of the evening was Pedro, who apologized sincerely and provided 50% off my fajitas. His customer service was excellent and truly appreciated. Overall, this hotel does not reflect the quality or hospitality I've come to associate with DoubleTree. It's old, outdated, and lacks the warmth and care that usually make this brand so dependable. I truly hope management takes steps to refresh both the property and the guest experience.

The first impression was warm and inviting: the decor has a cozy, Native American-inspired vibe, complete with a little fire pit area that added to the charm. At check-in, we were warmly greeted by the friendly front desk staff, who made the check-in process smooth and of course offered us the Signature Doubletree cookie. The hotel's layout blends indoor and outdoor spaces, so after checking in, we had to walk outside to reach our room. While the room felt a bit dim, outdated, and slightly worn, it was decently clean and worked just fine for a short overnight stay. One of the biggest perks of this hotel is its proximity to the airport--super convenient for layovers or early flights. They also offer a shuttle service, and the drivers were cheerful and friendly, which made the travel experience very enjoyable. If you're looking for a quick and comfortable stop near the airport with friendly staff and a unique ambiance, this hotel is a solid choice.
