I dined here with my friend on 3/26/23. When we arrived we were told all of the tables were reserved but we could sit at the bar, so we did. It took about 45 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge us. An hour to receive my drink. Then another 45 minutes or so to receive our food. I asked for waters and another drink but we never received them. I was so thirsty. The food tasted like high school cafeteria food. My friend and I both felt very nauseous and sick after eating the food. It was overall a very disappointing experience. They should hire more staff since they're clearly overwhelmed. I don't recommend this place and wouldn't return. I've noticed that most of the fancier restaurants at the wharf are just aesthetically pleasing but very overpriced. Don't go to the wharf if you're hungry. read more

Such a hidden gem on the roof! My girlfriends and I stumbled upon this rooftop bar within the Hyatt at the Wharf, and we had a nice experience. We just grabbed a few drinks before catching the water taxi. Note that you have to order at least one food item, though. That was mildly annoying. Our waitress suggested fries, so we got those. The space overlooks the Channel, and the decor was nicely done. Right now, it's decorated for cherry blossom season. This is a nice spot to go to before dinner at the Wharf! read more

This hotel restaurant has a great bar and wide food/drink menu with excellent service! I visit this location at Pike & Rose often for the rooftop views and happy hour specials. A fantastic option for big group gatherings after work or just to meet up with a friend at the bar. It's never too crowded and there is lots of seating available. I often hear hotel guests getting their food or drinks to-go for the room. I enjoy basic happy hour food items like wings, flatbreads, nachos, and good wine/beer/cocktails and this place is always consistent! read more

We were looking for an outdoor place where we could reserve our table so we ended up at canopy. Its inside the Hyatt on the second level. Possibly because its a hotel restaurant, the atmosphere is pretty relax as far as service. Not the best but not the greatest. The views are amazing! I had the pizza and the seared salmon. Both were good. The pizza is a thin crusted, with regular meat toppings. The seared salmon is quite interesting, I don't think I've had anything like it. Its a nice crispy salmon on top of risotto with shrimp in a tomato cream sauce. This was my first time having risotto, is it supposed to just taste like rice in sauce. I was asked at the front if I have a reservation which I'm not so I was told that I can sit outside for cocktails until 5:00pm (45 min) 20 min pass afters they give me a table and nobody serve me so I walked to the bar to ask for q drink and one of the waiters reacted upset and told me that they were closed. Our group of 3 visited Canopy to celebrate our friend's birthday and we had a fantastic time! Josue was our waiter and he did a wonderful job explaining the menu, our brunch options, and made outstanding recommendations! Josue and Oscar were truly remarkable wait staff and went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing time celebrating at Canopy; they were professional and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Thanks to their remarkable customer service we look forward to patronizing Canopy again! In addition to the wonderful service we received, the food was delicious and the ambience was lovely! We would highly recommend the steak tacos and Big Mic. We sat outside and the day could not have been more perfect: bright, sunny and overlooking the Potomac (what a view!). We had such a great experience we even spoke to the manager, Michael, to share our remarks. We cannot wait to visit again and hope to see Josue and Oscar! We had a Brunch reservation at 12pm got seated and ordered our food by 12:15, 45 minutes later we still didn't receive our food. We sat and watched 2 tables seated behind us order and received there food before we did. I asked our server how about our food, he said 2 minutes, the kitchen is behind. I watched kitchen staff come out on the balcony and relax and take pictures. I let 10 minutes go by asked again he said another 2 minutes. Frustrated I asked to see the manager, no body could be found. I went to the front desk and asked the supervisor of the hotel. The hotel supervisor shot the manager and corrected the situation. Overall I was disappointed with the service. I will never eat here again or tell anybody about this place! read more

Awful over priced breakfast, I really have the urge to dispute it, I cannot believe what I paid for what I ate we ended up not eating it, went out to eat spent half the amount for great breakfast! Then we gave it a try to have dinner there, only because my 5 year old son wanted to eat in the igloo since we are staying at this hotel, we went down at our reservation time which we made a day in advance and the igloo was freezing!!! They didn't turn the heat on. We had to figure out how to get it on but the igloo did not warm up in the time we ate there, we ordered pasta and pizza, the pasta was good but got cold fast as it was as cold as eating outside so about 30 degrees F and pizza wasn't good and got cold even faster. Then we wanted dessert that was on the menu and they did not have it. It was not a good experience at all! And of course for this type of food and service it's def over priced, I don't mind paying if the food and the service Match the price. Awful!!!!!!!!!!! Great location and atmosphere. But, service totally non-existent. Walked in and were stared at. We were doing early dinner at 5:00 and hardly anyone there yet. Finally asked bar tender how we get a table and were told to go around to host. We then got seated and sat, and sat, and.... Watched tables indoors be served and still hadn't seen a server on the patio at all. Tried to ask a sever walking by, but were impatiently told she'd be with us soon, and she kept walking. 20 minutes later we finally asked the host and he actually took our order himself. Only reason we stayed was we had a timeline and no time to switch restaurants at this point. Table nearby that sat same time as us were paying their check by the time we ate, which was 1 hour later. $16 mojito was terrible too. Super bummed as the area is beautiful. I ordered delivery and honestly I have to say it was the best packaged meal I've had. Everything was intact including the side sauces. When I opened it, I could not wait to dig in.!The District Wings were amazing! The sauce was so tasty. I also had the Fried Chicken Sandwich. The chicken was fried perfectly and was not dried out. The only thing good about this place is the gorgeous view of the water and cherry blossoms. We were at the restaurant at 1:45 and the hostess didn't show up until 2PM. Once we were seated, no one came to the table for 25 minutes so I had to stand up and flag down a waiter. We placed our orders all at once and then waited until 3:40 PM and finally gave up waiting on our food and walked out. No one updated us regarding the extreme delay. Only after my friend went to ask for a manager did someone tell us that something wasn't working in the kitchen. The first time I went to canopy our waiter ignored us and it took forever for them to take our order. We ordered the charcuterie board and they didn't bring us any crostini to go with our spread for about 20 min. There service was crappy the first time I came, but I thought I'd give them a second chance because the views were amazing! I took my brother and sister there when they were visiting and our reservation was for 9 on the rooftop patio. We showed up and waited about 15min with no updates and then when we went up and asked them about our table they said they were closing at 9:45 and there was no outdoor seating. So they sat us at a random table near the entrance where we sat for another 15min with no one taking our order or approaching us. We eventually realized they weren't planning to serve us and there were a ton of outdoor tables they weren't clearing so we got up and left. My experience was very lackluster. Our first server was somewhat off and after we sent our charcuterie board back, she never came back to the table. The bread on the board was extremely salty so we sent it back, and ordered a flatbread to replace it. The manager, Dagim (who introduce himself as the restaurant manager) came over and inquired about why we sent it back. We respectfully told him it was salty and ordered something else instead. He persisted that he would just switch out the bread and it would be fine. We insisted that we didn't want it and he said VERBATIM, "you're paying for it so you might as well take it". We said no thank you. We ended up moving inside due to rain and had a new server who was absolutely amazing. When the check came, I noticed the charcuterie board was on it and KINDLY asked the manager to remove it since we didn't eat it after the first bite. He attempted to explain that we still had to pay for it and his justification was because he was a restaurant manager, I then told him I too was a manager at a restaurant and would never argue with a guest about an item that they did not like and would have just take it off the bill. He continued to go back and forth with me and I simply told him he needs to remove it and he was displaying poor customer service, then he finally obliged. Poor lack of leadership on his part. This place has awful service. I came with my fiancé for dinner and were treated so poorly. First, we showed up and told the hostess that we had reservations and they said they couldn't seat us where we had made reservations to sit. After that they took us to a table that wasn't clean or had chairs. The hostess told us to grab chairs from another unoccupied table and that someone would come to clean our table. 30 mins later no one had come to clean the table or take our order. We decided to leave. I wouldn't recommend anyone try this place. It's no wonder why of all the places on the wharf this is the only place that has availability on a consistent basis. I went here last night on a date night with my boo, unfortunately this was a mistake. The ambiance was horrible. The tables were not spread apart, it was very bright lighting in the restaurant and also small. I made reservations for 7:15pm. We didn't get our food till 8:10pm. And no one even bothered to come over and check on us all that time! The food was not good at all! Over priced for what you get. I had the salmon which was over cooked and very tiny. It looked like a childs portion. With alot of rice on the side that was not good. Needless to say, i went home hungry. My man had the steak and it was red in the middle. The waitress did not even ask him how he likes his steaks! smh..We wil not be going here again. Oh and the waitress did not even come fill out water glasses once! I dont know why it takes 1 hour to cook salmon and rice and steak. I could cook that faster then them! A nice little restaurant in the Canopy Hilton that over looks the waterfront. I loved every part of my experience at this restaurant. The service was amazing! Our waters were always filled and they were very nice when taking our order. I ordered a side of fries and the bbq chicken flatbread which tasted so amazing I wanted to order it again. I also found the prices to be very cheap for DC and especially for a restaurant at the Wharf. I paid around $13 for my flatbread and it was a decent size. I definitely recommend this place to anyone eating at the Wharf, especially someone who wants affordable options other than seafood. read more

This is one of the few places I've found to not charge for the igloo reservation. Make sure you note that you want an igloo and you can reserve it for 1.5 hours. I do wish I could've seen through the igloo rat the scenery but the plastic material was only to keep heat in and not see out. The sitting space was nice, intimate and private. However I do wish that they could've cared more for the igloo's maintenance (rips and tears) so heat wouldn't escape but good thing I brought my own blanket and bundled up in clothes despite the hostess's advice that it wasn't needed when I called beforehand. The food was really flavorful and plentiful. We got the fried wings - lemon pepper sauce and fried shrimp - hot honey as appetizers but surprised it came with fries. We even ordered the bacon cheeseburger pizza which was even tastier as leftovers. Def would go again prolly with a crew of six for more body heat. read more

Such a beautiful spot to come hang and relax. They have outdoor seating that feels like you're in a park, but also have the normal restaurant tables and chairs. They have outdoor couches and a fire pit. The best part about this is the view of the boardwalk at the wharf and of the Potomac. Definitely my go to spot from now on to get work done. They have only a few outdoor outlets but they work. If you want live music come during the evening on fridays and Saturdays. read more

It was our first time there. We saw the menu, the decor and location online and thought this would a nice spot for a family dinner. When we got there it was slightly confusing about which way the Resturant was because there was only one small sign once inside the hotel where it's located. We sat on the patio and they opened an umbrella for us, but it did not offer coverage of our table AT ALL. So we moved to a different table with shade. Then our food came and there was hair in my husband's burger, YUCK! The drinks were not even close to tasting good and we left dissatisfied. Overall I wouldn't go back nor recommend. read more

The first night was absolutely awful service wise, we got sat and no one got us waters, took them 15 mins to even acknowledge us and then our food orders were incorrect. I went again the next day in hopes that maybe it was circumstantial but the same thing happened again, 15 mins to simply get waters, we ended up getting our food before our drinks. While there is no doubt that Canopy offers a great view of the Wharf from the second story, and the distance above also separates you from the passerbys and noise, our overall experience was very disappointing, particularly after wasting a good amount of time and money! Three reasons: reservation system, Covid-19 management, and food quality. 1) Despite making a reservation, we were asked to wait in line for 15 minutes and then, upon reaching the desk, were first told that our reservation was canceled due to exceeding the wait time (caused by waiting in line). After speaking with the manager, we then waited another 25 minutes until finally being seated. 2) While waiting, there was no control over how many people were in the lobby. Due to being in a hotel, this process already was Covid stressful because you have to enter, walk up to the second floor, and then wait a significant amount of time indoors before being seated outside. Once seated, the restaurant then was out of proper utensils and straws, causing us to question whether it was fully prepared to wait on people. 3) Finally, we ordered two drinks that were mediocre and a seared tuna appetizer that was very disappointing. Ate here for the first time (I'm a local) and the rudeness started with the hostess who told us there were no shady tables outside but when I went to look for myself there were 2 outdoor tables under the "canopy" shade. Both tables had dishes left over from previous guests and she seemed really annoyed to have to clean off a table for us. We then waited 20 mins to get water, and when our sever finally came over she complained about it being too hot outside. When we received a salad (to share) I asked for 2 small plates TWICE and never received them. Our lunch was tasty - cheeseburger and tacos) but the dirty tables near us were attracting several birds that were eating leftover food on the plates. The tables sat dirty for at least 20mins with at least 5-6 birds at one point. No refills on water even on a 90 degree day. Server gave us the check but never came back to get it. Another server got it for us. The view of the water is great but the experience overall is not worth it! read more

Went there on Saturday night of Petalpollozza which meant the entire Waterfront was mayhem. We were lucky enough to make a reservation early thru OpenTable which also apparently way overbooked the place. The problem we ran into was that the view were so nice people just didnt leave and open up tables. So 2 hours in we still had not eaten and had to grab our own table. I agree like some of the other reviews that they are just absurdly understaffed. Just makes no sense. There were some instances where I stood in the middle of dining room floor trying to find someone to talk to and there was just no staff to be seen anywhere except for the two bartenders working thru their 30 minute lines. I'm giving 4 stars because management stepped up and got us our food finally fast and 2 rounds of drinks. The table we found for ourselves ended up being the best spot for the fireworks (which meant we were there for 3 hours!). Upper management here I suspect to blame for not giving the Hotel staff the help they need (a bouncer would solve a lot of these issues). People were just coming in and seating themselves, hotel guests just going off on the poor hostess, hotel guests just taking over parts of the terrace with their own beer etc. read more
