You can stop this place if you want the average burrito or taco. This place is great for low-key date, groups, family or whatever you want it to be. This place is busy loud and full of energy. Which could be good or bad, depends on what you are looking for. Prices are not too bad. But noted somewhat prices since since covid. Also, I notes the placed is super packed, so they are not spacing customers due to covid. The cons: the place feels like it has not ventilation. Few tables away, a lady ordered fajitas. They brought her dish and it was smoking. The whole place got filled up with the smoke and the smell. It was overwhelming. Our server was taking a very long time to take our card. I had to stand near the outside door because the smoke was all over. People noticed it. I guess if you want to go to this place, expect the above. Went here for dinner after seeing it had 4+ star reviews. What a disappointment. Had chicken tamales weekend special. Totally dry and tasteless. We had also ordered guacamole appetizer, also basically tasteless. They brought the food out barely five minutes after we ordered. It clearly wasn't freshly cooked and had been sitting under a warmer as it was just barely warm, not hot. I guess it all depends on the day and time at this place - We keep going back so I guess that says something... this last trip was near closing - maybe that's our mistake. They serve the food on super hot plates and now I'm thinking they depend on that to cook some of the food... one of the kids with us - his cheese quesadilla wasn't even melted (on a hot plate) .. Food and drinks are really good! Love the burritos and Mexican corn. The service isn't great, a little slow and you often have to wait a long time even after you are seated. Atmosphere is quite loud. Update: just ordered take out. Not impressed. When I called to see if there was an option to make a change to an order online (& there wasn't) someone took my order. She was nice enough about it but hung up after I said "thanks" which seemed a little rude. When we got the order home and opened our burritos they were all flat and minimally filled. They weren't wrapped like a burrito normally is. Rather food was just thrown in the middle and it's was folded in half. The lettuce was brown and wilted. The West Coast had 2 fries inside of it. From start to finish Miguel our server and then the manager were also extremely rude.I didn't catch the managers name because he was unprofessional and did not provide it to us. 2:30 pm on a slow Thursday afternoon we entered the establishment and was told that my nephews could not open an umbrella in the restaurant. Being from out of town my phone was dead I asked if there was a place we could charge it they said not really. Love the Atlantic Beach location SA not so much. There isn't any outdoor seating and it's not as nicely decorated at the Beach location. First off having lived in Southern California I'm admitting that I'm a major Mexican food snob. It's by far the best Mexican I've ever had other than crossing the border. Lol. That being said this place was just terrible! My husband and I live in Ponte Vedra and stopped here on our way home from a SOFlo trip. We were both Hungary so we stopped for lunch. The waiter brought us chips and salsa. The salsa was good but if I like mine more in the spicy side. Unfortunately the chips were stale. Asked waiter for new batch, they were better but still not fresh. The lunch prices are good $9-$11 and include drink but the food is lacking flavor. We both ordered the Fajiatas Burrito which comes with Shrimp, beef and chicken. We ordered them dry instead of topped with the queso sauce. The plate came out piping hot. It was so hot you couldn't pickup the burrito to eat it. My biggest pet peeve with restaurants is when they don't make the food fresh to order. Clearly the beef, shrimp and the chicken were reheated. I really abhor that. Is it really so hard to make the dishes fresh to order? The restaurant wasn't that busy. Like some of other reviewers mentioned the food lacked flavor and spice. Very bland and just plan boring. The side of guacamole had no spice whatsoever. I love a good guac and theirs left little to be desired. I would not return to this location. Our waiter was friendly and refilled our drinks and salsa. No problem there. Now let me get to the bathroom. First of all, after you clean the toilets please put the seats down. And while you're at it could you replace the horrible toilet bowl covers. No lady wants to want into the powder room and have to put down the seat. My family of 4 (2 adults, a 10 yo, and a 6 yo) ate here for dinner on 4/7 during our Spring Break vacation in the Saint Augustine area. The food and the service were both excellent!!! The kids even got their food ahead of the adults, which not only helps them get fed quick, but also so they can finish at a decent time, lol! The queso and salsa, along with the chips tasted great. We had a person in our group with a SEVERELY fatal allergy to capsacin...meaning, no peppers. I know, I know...why go to a Mexican restaurant? Regardless, the staff was INCREDIBLY knowledgeable about what went into their recipes because it's all made by THEM. This might have been one of the worst "Mexican Restaurants" to have wasted money on. 1). Street Corn Shrimp Quesadilla- This was Shrimp breaded in corn meal-hilarious. Surrounded by not even sure what it was. They should get Mexican street Corn from Hurricanes so they at least have an idea of what it should look and taste like. 2). It was a little loud while dining, but I think that was because of the large number of people in the place. The food was delicious. I am picky with Mexican food and was bummed that they didn't have what I always look when I eat Mexican. So I ordered the fajita burrito and it was huge! I'm not a burrito person, but j really liked it. We also got an appetizer of taquitos. Those were great! I just wish they had brought them out a little sooner because immediately after they brought our appetizer, they brought out the main course. Their menu is the same as the one in Jacksonville. Getting into the parking lot to this location is not easy. It almost feels like you are going through maze. I did not notice any outside seating while we were there. The inside had a bit of old with wear and tear look. I tried some different things on the menu from what I usually get in Jacksonville location. Food is of the same quality and the to be the same not local ingredients. The service was slow despite the fact that the restaurant was not that full. It took awhile for us to even get the order in. It's okay even longer for us to get our drinks filled original. When we pulled up, the parking lot was completely full and there were many people waiting inside. Normally I take this as a good sign. I would have preferred more guacamole, which was delicious, but i'd still say they were very good. To say we over ordered is an understatement. Based on the wait, the look of the food coming out of the kitchen and the nachos, we were setting our sites high thinking everything was going to be delicious. The best thing we all had was the Mexican street corn. Seriously y'all just try it! They only serve it on the weekends and I wish I had ordered 3 more and just had that for dinner. Unfortunately, thats where my love ended. Between the 4 of us, we ordered many different things off the menu. I had a sopa, gordida, and tacos al carnitas. The presentation was beautiful and for the price of the food, the size is quite big with a lot of meat. The food though felt like it was missing something. It was OK but but missing the wow factor. It seemed like they needed more flavor, especially the carnita taco. The pork had no flavor. The sopa and the gordida was fine, but the corn patties were quite hard which made them difficult to eat. Overall, the taste of the food was lacking. Im not saying that the food was bad, it was just boring. Word to the wise, don't order the retired beans. They have are bland and tasteless. We were very hungry, but I was still disappointed. I normally always love Mexican food and will eat basically anything. I would give this restaurant the benefit of the doubt and try it again. Maybe we ordered the wrong things or they had an off night. If all the food tasted like how mine did tonight, there is no way they would have the wait or the reviews that they do. read more

Ran into this place as we were heading to another Mexican restaurant that was recommended to us, but when we viewed the menu and inside pictures, we decided to come here instead and we were very happy we did. Not to say the other place may have been bad, but we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere of Cantina Louie. The food was excellent, typical Mexican dishes (Enchiladas, burritos, tacos, nachos, etc) but very very good. Drinks were also very good, definitely a good spot for hanging out and having a few margaritas or beers with friends and/or family. We will def visit again when in the area, as a matter of fact will be back soon with my pops so we can have 1-2 or maybe 3 margaritas while enjoying some good street tacos. read more
