As the night went on, more and more dishes were 86'd. The message coming out of the kitchen was that they simply did not have the ingredients to cook what was on the menu, which is a pretty alarming thing to hear as a guest. Things got even stranger when we learned there was no chef in the kitchen. Instead, the general manager was back there trying to cook. It very clearly was not working. We ordered appetizers and waited about 45 minutes for what I believe was a seafood dip. When it finally arrived, it came out as a thin, runny soup. Not a dip. A soup. On top of that, it was so aggressively spicy it was nearly inedible. It honestly felt like no one back there had ever made the dish before. The food, flat out, gets a zero from me. If I could give it a negative score, I would. That said, the front-of-house staff deserves credit. They were polite, professional, and clearly trying to manage an impossible situation created by the kitchen. I felt for them, because they were the ones having to face guests while everything behind the scenes was falling apart. Again, this is based on a single experience, and I truly hope it was an off night that's been corrected. If not, I don't see how a place like this could survive. The concept is good, the people up front were good, but the kitchen that night was a complete failure. The entire 2 hour + experience was comp'd.

My wife says one of the wines she likes is a little less than other stops, so that's good. But other drink prices tend to be on the high side as well, but most in town have higher liquor prices. The upstairs is better than the downstairs but I'm glad they have the downstairs for some occasion when they could get busy. As for the Tavern / entertainment element, I've never seen any live music but they have several TVs. I spoke to one of the founders of the bar who was an avid climber and his brother a surfer, who said the name of brewery Greenline derived from the previous business which was a deli. They restored the space which has some interesting words written on the historic brick walls - the profanity had to be hidden. The bar also had other beer offerings, which we did not try. My talk with Chris St Vrain, revealed how the brothers designed the jackets of their beers: Allenbrook with its rope designs on it and named after a secluded Roswell climbing wall; and Shirtless after his brothers' love of the salt life. There was plenty of parking close to the event and there was a petting zoo, bouncy houses, pony rides, and face paintings/tattoos for the kids. They also had a lot of vendors selling items from crochet animals and headbands to hot sauce vendors and many others. It was a free event but the bounce houses were $10 for unlimited jumps and the pony rides were also $10. All of the vendors were friendly and welcoming. This was my first time going to this event and I'm glad I went.
