This place screams local, good ol' boy, townie bar. Now, that happens to be my thing but if it's not yours, I recommend skipping over this bar. Small, dark, lots of neon and wood give this place a true dive bar vibe. There is a small bar at the back that seats 10 or so. Outside there is a nice sized patio with a stage that almost always has some live music going. There is a kitchen too. You will find your typical Cisco bag bar food. Deep fried this and deep fried that. Food is fine. Definitely gets the job done when you have had a few beers. And it's pretty damn cheap too! Service was decent. The girl behind the bar was prompt but definitely leaned towards the regulars which is fully to be expected and honestly somewhat appreciated. After all they are the ones in there putting cash in her pocket day in and day out. This isn't a place I would recommend going to specifically grab a meal but if you are in the area and thirsty for a cheap beer and maybe listening to a guy strumming his guitar, it's not a terrible spot. read more

Not only is this known as one of the trashiest bars in Cartersville, the owner doesn't know how to mind her business and not run her mouth to her jailbird flavors of the month. She is unbelievably unprofessional, does not hold up to health codes as there were puppies in the kitchen being "sold". My friends and I go there for the heavy pour but had no idea that this Ms. Lauren was taking notes on our behavior and drinks just to go and make shit up and cause drama for NO REASON. You have a sad life Lauren. Clean up your bar, get more seating, and shut your mouth. So lesson of the day, keep our names out of your mouth, stop spreading lies so people will lay down with you and we will keep our money out of your pockets. read more

Infuriating experience at a bar that I frequent, if you've never been before, it's a very small bar only about five tables inside, dirty restrooms, and overpriced drinks, but they have live music on Fridays. I recently went out with my friends and we immediately get in line for the bar, my friend orders a beer first and he is with his girlfriend, who doesn't drink, but still wanted to come out for a good time. The bartender yelled at her to order something off the menu and she said I'm not going to drink. The blonde bartender immediately tells her to "Get the f*ck out" for no reason at all other than the fact she didn't want to order a drink. I then come up to the bar in order a drink for me and my boyfriend. I have both of our valid IDs and she looks me in the eyes and says "I'm not gonna serve you either. You can get the fuck out." We are all around 25 years old so I don't know what her problem was, I told my boyfriend what happened and he calmly asked her why she wouldn't serve me and she yells " I don't have to serve her and I don't have to serve you all of y'all can get the fuck out. I can choose who I wanna serve." I am truly bewildered by this experience and will not be going back until that bitch is fired. read more

Very cute location and spot in a cool vintage building. On a Monday night they had several performances of decent music. One bartender wasn't enough and she was doing her best but waiting for a drink was very slowwwww, she couldn't come wait on our table so we went to her to order food, and our food was wrong. We never got wings we paid for called Orlando wings that they apparently are locally famous for but it was going to be a minimum of 25 minutes for our forgotten wings so my husband said forget it and had already paid. I think it's worth a visit but just be patient. read more

I would give it zero stars if I could. I am 22 years of age and was asked to leave for being underage. I had proper identifcation and was STILL asked to leave after being compliant to bar rules and tipping generously. I feel that this is ridiculous and embarrassing. And I would NEVER reccomend attending this bar. read more

Terrible service ... First they over severed a young kid and he crashed his motorcycle and ended up almost dead in the hospital! ... Then over severe others ... My sweet friend from German (drinking water) get kicked out for simply saying the young bar tender's boobs were hanging out ... Guess what? They were hanging out ... Not a big deal ... And due to the fact she is young ... And hot headed ... We were left in an unfortunate and uncomfortable situation and asked to leave.Really? And, we did as asked....left??? The Local is literally a block and a half from my house, so it's aptly named. That said, what The Local reminds me of is a shabby chic little wooden dive bar one would find on the beach in Florida, Alabama, or South Carolina, where one can let loose, relax, get loud, stay quiet, wear shorts and flip flops, and just be. The food is fried and so-so, but their selection of canned beers is fun (plenty of 420s and IPAs along with PBR). The staff is slightly surly and full of character and the place boasts a good-sized outside deck with a small bar of its own. What I like most is it's the one place a later-night crowd can go and get crazy, and where a pub crawl can end on a high note. read more

I heard about this place and wanted to give it a shot, since I heard it was a small quaint place. I was really surprised of how small it actually was. WAY TOO SMALL. Maybe 8 tables, with a one man band stage. The kicker was this...when walking in to the bar, it was dark and trying to watch where I was walking when I miss-stepped over a portion of an old stage that looked like a piece of carpet that they no longer use and fell to my knees on my shoulder. Now I am a 66 year old plus size woman. Now mind you, I was of course embarrassed as hell and swore off that I was okay and sat there to gather myself for a few minutes and the only ones that jumped to assist me were the patrons. 2 young gentlemen helped me up. No manager, no employees to even check to see if I was okay. Once the 2 gentlemen got me up (with a bad knee already) a girl that was accompanying these guys told me it has happened a few times before of people falling over this stage that sticks out in the walkway. She said even a waiter had it happen and food went all over everyone in there. Well, I went to the nearest table and sat down to continue to get myself together and order a much needed drink. Got No service. A friend that was with me went to the bar and ordered us drinks and I also bought the 2 gentlemen shots on me. Do you think that the manager or bartender would at least comp my drink?? Come say hello...are you okay...NOTHING !! I will NOT be returning and I think they need to be written up and turned in to the health department for the unsafe walking ability with this damn stage sticking out. If nothing else, it needs neon tape on it or they need to remove it - it no longer is being used and is a safety hazard. OSHA would love it !! To the owner/manager/bartender thanks for no concern and a shitty place on top of it. Unless you are a local dumbass...I wouldn't patronize this place in the least. read more

One star is too good of a rating after what I have seen at this place! At first glance The Local doesn't seem so bad, but I have frequented this place about 10 times (I really, really tried to give it a chance because it's conveniently located for me) and I will never set foot in those doors again. A couple of times I've ordered food there. Most of the time it wasn't great but, you know, it's bar food. I did order a BLT once which was the most disgusting congealed pile of half-cooked bacon, a couple of pieces of iceberg so old it was turning brown, and a flimsy mushy piece of tomato. I ate the bread. But I never ordered food there again after seeing the owner in the back eating soup right out of the pot, a couple of weeks after the BLT incident. And yet I still went back to grab drinks. If you do visit this place, your only safe bet for a drink is a canned or bottled beer. One day I was sitting at the bar with some friends and the bartender poured another customer a liquor drink. The bartender noticed that there were fruit flies floating in the drink after she'd made it, so I watched her pour the drink out and then check the liquor bottle. I sat there with my mouth open as she held the bottle up to the light, found it full of dead fruit flies, picked up another bottle, found IT full of fruit flies...she realized, as I watched, that pretty much every bottle of dark-colored liquor was host to a bunch of dead flies. The bottles all had the pourer top on them, but they weren't sealed...ever, apparently. The bartender gave the customer a different drink, and I swore never to return. And yet I did. I happened to return a couple of days later (I am a glutton for punishment!) on the day that the owner was in the back, filling some half-filled bottles of clear liquor with water from the sink and using a strainer to sift fruit flies out of some other bottles of liquor. I wish I were joking. I walked out. If you're looking for a sanitary bar in Cartersville where you can have a good time, I recommend just about any bar other than The Local. read more

So in all fairness I hit this place for a late Saturday lunch around 1:30. Bartender was handling everything from serving beers at the bar to taking orders. I order their special, to which the young lady came back and told me they were out of. "She stated it was probably a good thing because people had been complaining about it." That would have been nice to known up front. Order another sandwich and my wife ordered smothered tots. The tots were a bucket of lard. It was one of the nastiest meals I had ever seen. My sandwich was tasteless. Just a bad experience. I'm going to assume it has a much better vibe in the evening when they are just serving beer and liquor and have live music. Would I hit it again? Meh probably not. Plenty of places around with good music and also have good food. Hard pass on The Local Bar and Grill. read more

Won't be back. Rude little blonde bartender. We were having a good night out celebrating my wife's promotion and everything was good until the end of the night. I ordered an Uber and the driver was 20 minutes out. So I figured, one more beer for me and the wife and then we're out. Went to the bar to get said beers and proceeded to stand there for 10 minutes and get passed over multiple times. After the rude little blonde bartender took the person who was just behind me (now standing next to me at the bar) order, i kinda threw my hands up as to say "wtf" and she says to me "now you can wait longer". Okay cool. So as I stand there I realize I won't have time to drink these beers I came to order, so when she came back I said "just close me out" and she has the nerve to say that was the reason why I was getting passed over, "all these other people are spending money and your just trying to close out". LOL good call dipshit. I just dropped $45 here in the last hour, I was going to tip y'all nicely but that quickly just went out the window. So I asked the other bartender to cash me out and little dipshit rude blonde says to her "no, make him wait" so what do they make me do... Wait even longer. By this point my Uber is here and they are still holding my card for no reason other than to be nasty. Finally the second bartender cashes me out. I still tipped 10% because I'm not going to let the other bartenders suffer because they work with an idiot. Would of been 25% if ol dodo bird had a brain and would of served me or cashed me out in a timely manner. Good luck keeping customers when you have terrible customer service. read more
