We went for lunch and the food was great. The counter girl was helpful and nice and the price was right. We'll be back.

So! Out of everything i ordered (see pics) I didn't try the soup dumpling but my kiddo (who are the whole steamer) said it was good. Everything was hot and delicious and taste like NYC dim sum (iykyk) except -the turnip cake (too oily and mushy) - fried dough noodle (too much wrapping, dough not fresh and crispy enough) - egg tarts (new and only available on weekends according to their menu - I am a BIG egg tarts fan and unfortunately these were disappointing: crust was fine but filling was baked eggs and not the classic flan-like type of an egg tarts). 3-4 other families came in for dim sum, it was more lively and they turned on low classical music so lovelier ambiance than when we first walked in. Wait staff was very friendly and polite. Only negative thing were the sticky plastic spoons they gave to share the congee bowl. After recovering from a recent stomach bug I have to be super critical of dining utensils so gotta ding a star off for that. Prices were more expensive than normal for dim sum but we were expected that - just glad they didn't decrease the quantity like some places! All in all, we would come back again for dim sum :)

The cherry tomatoes were a nice touch. The service is attentive and the food is served quickly. I may move to Rochester because of this place. It's that good. Now, when I was going to RIT (back in the day), I remember this being a Might Taco... but I'm quite delighted to see it as an OG Dumpling House location too! (Though it's probably a good thing that it wasn't a dumpling house when I was in college, because those freshman 15 would have been aaaaaaaaaall because of the soup dumplings.) You can order takeout or sit in the restaurant. Our getting offered a table when we first got there was a bit discombobulated, but we were asked after a few minutes if we wanted to sit or takeout and we confirmed we wanted to eat in the restaurant. After another minute or two, we were given our table. Because of the time waiting for our table, we had already decided on what we wanted to eat and drink... so we were able to order pretty quickly. We ordered the xiao long bao, of course, as well as steamed pork bao, and then fried green beans, fried calamari, and shumai to share. The items came out quickly enough... but as we were making our way through the plates, I was a bit surprised that our server wasn't also taking away plates that we'd finished. In most dim sum-type restaurants I've visited, it's common for the server to take finished plates away throughout the service to ensure you have room on the table for anything else that might be coming out. Since the tables in this location are perhaps a bit on the smaller side, we soon found ourselves running out of enough space to really spread out the plates to share. The soup dumplings are good... though they perhaps didn't have broth that was quite as flavorful as I'd been hoping for. I'm glad we visited, as OG Dumpling House has been on my list to try for quite a while. Now that the craving is appeased though, I'll be happy to try another one of Rochester's Chinese or dim sum-style restaurant locations.

I visited on a Friday night for the dinner all you can eat (AYCE) and it was not overly crowded…read more(but did start to fill up more after I was seated). Service was very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. For the AYCE, you can get almost every item on the menu by either ordering it via the tablet at the table or taking a plate you want off of the revolving belt that goes around the restaurant. My friend and I did a little bit of both. We tried a lot of items and definitely got our money's worth. My favorites were the scallion pancake with beef roll and mala soup dumplings. Everything was good, the only small complaint I have is that I love a very marinated smashed cucumber salad and the one I took off the belt seemed like it hadn't been seasoned and allowed to sit for very long, so it didn't have a strong flavor. Other than that, everything was very good and I'd return, although I'd probably do a la carte next time (simply because AYCE led me to eat too much!).

Finally found my way to Spin & Savor after hearing them announce they'll be offering an…read moreall-you-can-eat option months ago. I was greeted by friendly staff and immediately shown to a table. Looking around, I found this restaurant to be smaller than what I had in mind, but nevertheless it was decorated nicely, and seemed clean. We were met by Jessie who gave us the run down how everything worked. Everything on the conveyor belt is part of the AYCE, and we're also able to place orders on the tablet which will be delivered either by server or by a secondary conveyor belt which is above the revolving one. The thing I really loved is the fact the sushi rolls on the conveyor belt were 3 - 4 pieces. A great way to try the roll if you're nervous about placing one in that would consist of 6-8 pieces. We were satisfied with the options for sushi rolls that made its way around. A few appetizers we also enjoyed were the cocktail shrimp and pickled daikon and carrots. Looking through the menu on the tablet, we placed in a handful of different dim sum and sushi. Some highlights for us were the shumai, shrimp dumplings, and tripe. Some appetizers from the tablet we enjoyed were the fried scallops and egg rolls. For sushi, we really enjoyed the white tuna tataki. The nigiri and sashimi were fair and pretty standard. Now onto why this is a 4-star vs a 5-star. I visited twice now, and it seems certain items are always sold out. Reading other reviews, it seems to be the norm. It makes me believe it's possible perhaps these items are always sold out or rarely offered at the restaurant. This is a disappointment considering we're paying full price for several items to not be offered. Egg tarts, roast pork pastries, even some sushi options were sold out such as salmon roe and surf clam. Overall, this is a nice restaurant, and we were treated with great hospitality from Jessie and we enjoyed the majority of the items offered here. We're hoping our next visit, there won't be so many sold out items.

Chopsticks had included a fork, napkins and the small packets of sauces without being asked. When I arrived at my hotel room and opened the weighted take-out bag, I was surprised to see a large bowl instead of the usual cardboard box for my Szechuan chicken. The accompanying rice was in a box though. The Szechuan chicken was super-hot in temperature and extra spicy as ordered. Normally, when you ask for extra spicy the restaurants are fearful to actually make it so. Maybe it was the double extra, extra that clued them in. But it normally does not work for others. The Szechuan chicken had a lot of vegetables (green/red peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, baby corn cobs) that make me feel better about eating Chinese food. The vegetables were not only abundant but fresh looking and cooked thoroughly. There was also plenty of white strips of chicken to enjoy with all those vegetables. My only negative was that for it to be that piping hot, it had to be microwaved. Not sure if it was done in a wok earlier and then reheated, but that is my assumption. I am in search of good egg rolls. I travel frequently and like to try different Chinese restaurants in different cities across the U.S. Good egg rolls are very difficult to find. They are either too greasy, insufficient filling, or just lacking flavor. These were not greasy at all. So not greasy I found myself wondering if they used a convection oven/ air fry oven. A+ for that, but C grade for the filling. The filling did not have much flavor overall and with the shell being dry, the filling needed moisture. Oh well, the search continues. They do have seating for around 50 people and it appeared clean from my brief exposure to the restaurant. The woman at the counter was friendly and spoke perfect English. The price for the food was fine, not too expensive and not cheap. I would return to Chopsticks to try out other items next time I am in Rochester.
