I've been searching for great chicken chow mein with hard noodles and they did not disappoint .

Finding good Chinese anymore seems difficult. But after years of driving by Ming's Garden we decided to give it a try. The dinning room is spacious but there were only 2 tables (including us) dining in-house. It was a bit odd in one corner where they had an area that had boxes and supplies lined up like they were selling off overstock. Lots of to go orders being picked up with a steady flow our entire visit. They have one server and possibly 2 people in the kitchen - so a limited staff. We order 2 dinner specials that included soup and wontons or egg rolls and your choice of rice. We had Pon Pon chicken and general Tsos chicken and one steamed and one stir fried rice. Both dinners were flavorful. The only think really lacking was the fried rice. Looked and tasted like steamed rice with soy sauce. Very limited anything stir fried into it. Dinner was good enough that we will plan to return and try more of their dishes. read more

Update #2: I ordered through a third party delivery company. I felt like it wasn't fair to judge the restaurant based solely on my last experience as we are all struggling through this pandemic thing together. The food is still outstanding and we got our food in a reasonable amount of time. I've honestly loved everything I've tried from them and will be going back. Although I'm not happy with how they handled the situation before (namely not letting us know it would be hours to get food) I feel they have mostly redeemed themselves in my eyes by having great quality food that made it here in a decent amount of time. Maybe the key is to order delivery through a third party? Update: Ordered from this place and didn't get food after an hour. When we called, they said come get it. My husband showed up and there were tons of people, none social distancing during a pandemic, who had been waiting for an hour or more. When he called, they said they would call him back and never did. We ended up going somewhere else and hope we won't have to fight for a refun We got delivery (thanks to the Covid for not being able to dine in) and found that this was one of the best Chinese places around us. I'm a big sweet and sour fan. You'd think it's hard to mess up but I've had some pretty terrible sweet and sour sauce! This place nailed it though. On top of that, I usually have it with ham fried rice and I'd say this place easily has the best ham fried rice I've had in a long time. Larger chunks of good quality ham and that delicious fried flavor. They also clearly make their rice with the whole egg, as there were bits of white and yolk visible. I'm so sad to say this, but I have to give Ming's Garden a solid "meh". I love supporting local businesses, especially during tough times, but Ming's just didn't do it for me. It seems as though I'm somewhat in the minority here, so I should probably try a different order at some point in the future. Firstly, make sure to access the coupons on the app! Free food for orders of $20+, $30+. and $40+. The [free] cream cheese wontons I received were good, especially when dipped in the sweet and sour sauce. However, our spring rolls were extremely soggy inside, and we only got 3 instead of the 4 we ordered. For our entrees, we got the orange chicken (the chicken was so-so, the sauce was great) and the kung pao beef (which was particularly slimy). We upgraded to ham fried rice, which was very dark, almost burned-looking. The steamed rice was as expected. Overall, I've had better and I've had worse. So sorry, Ming! read more

First time to try Ming's Garden. Ordered the pork chop with spicy salt and house fried rice for takeout. The pork was acceptable, but the fried rice was surprisingly good. Overall value is not bad considering their affordable prices. The lights were not on while we were waiting, but there was plenty of daylight so it didn't feel dark. I have some relatives in T-Ville that are always going on about Mings. I convinced them to buy me food from here. We ordered takeout on their website. They got curry chicken, I chose the general tsos chicken. We got lots of wontons, potstickers, egg rolls and rice. The food was quick and I feel like you got your money's worth. The general tsos chicken came with veggies that were super yummy! The ham fried rice was decent but I loved the veggies in the house fried rice. I didn't have the curry chicken because I'm weird and don't like curry. There was tons of potstickers to go around and they all came with that yummy black sauce I like. The egg rolls came with sweet and sour sauce, which is always a good choice. Overall, it was a ton of food and really great quality. Alright here's the scoop. First of all - to all the other reviewers saying the food is bland and needs soy sauce: you're telling me you NEVER add soy sauce to ANY Asian food? "The sushi was alright but it was a bit bland, needed some soy sauce." "The plain white rice was a bit bland but needed salt." huh??? Secondly, the actual main courses (I got the General Tao's Chicken and the Honey Walnut Prawns) are pretty darn flavorful which I believe are meant to be eaten with the fried rice. The General Chicken had good flavor, I wish the chicken chunks were a bit chunkier but it tasted good and they had green bell peppers and onions which was nice in terms of a switchup in texture. The Walnut Prawns were also quite tasty and served on a bed of fried wonton sticks??? which helps keep that crispety crunch (nice). Pot stickers were good - the sauce they paired with it is nice, sweet, acidic, and thiccish. Cream Cheese Wontons - You can't mess this up. Standard fare but bussin nonetheless. Veggie Egg Roll - I didn't like it but I also don't like veggie eggrolls, next. Hot n Sour soup - could've been more hot and more sour but I really like intense flavors cause I'm a sub. Egg Drop Soup was surprisingly really freakin tasty; I've had a lot of egg drop soups and most of the time it tastes like water with egg bits but this soup was delicious. I feel really bad leaving negative reviews but since I chose this place based on the positive reviews, I wanted to add honest feedback. I didn't finish my food. I had one single bite of the chicken. The only thing that seemededible at all was the egg drop soup. Rice had an awful texture and tasted/felt like eating sand. The chicken was chewy and not enough sauce. I'm not a super picky person. Sure some places you enjoy and want to go back. Others just get the job done. Rarely is there a don't go back place. Here is a review of the things I've tried. Appetizers: the combo has small portions of 4. 1. Egg rolls -bite one, delicious! Bite 2, no where near as delicious. Bite 3, how did I think this was delicious? Now it's so greasy too. Thumbs down. 2. BBQ pork -looked dry just opening the container. Tasted dry too. Ate one teeny piece. Will either throw away the rest or feed it to the cats. Two thumbs down. 3. Crab puff -there is nothing like cream cheese and crab!!! Unfortunately that's not what these are. No cream cheese. It was crab and what looks like cabbage and minced carrots. By volume it's mostly carrots. I HATE carrots, luckily it still tastes like crab mostly. They do taste good, just was disappointed about the lack of cream cheese. Thumbs up. 4. Deep fried prawns -extremely crispy breaded shrimp... not flavored. Just basics. I like crispy. Thumbs up. 5. Chicken egg roll -these I liked. Still greasy, so if you eat only one it's yummy. Thumbs up. Entrees 1. Singapore style chow fun -I LOVE this style of noodle and get them anywhere they're served. I actually went here specifically for this because I didn't want to drive far to my favorite place. Here, they're OK... they're not evenly coated and it's save-able if I coat it in butter and refry in my wok. No thumbs. 2. Sweet and sour pork -hard to dislike but somehow they've managed it. The batter has a weird after taste... I'm still torn about it. No thumbs... 3. Calamari and spicy salt -again my favorite place has a salt baked seafood I was hoping this was similar to. They're not the same, but after the weird tastes up to this point it made this taste good. Not spicy and I'm even a wimp. But it's good. Thumbs up. Overall there was nothing I ordered that I'd want to order again from this place. Mostly I wouldn't want to order again at all. I'm new to the SLC area and kinda stick to places close to my home for now, i passed by this Chinese restaurant when looking for a quick lunch spot, the banner outside said they were having a grand opening special of 20% all menu items. i tried the sesame chicken lunch combo which came with your choice of hot and sour or egg flower soup along with fried won tons w/ sweet and sour sauce. the combo included your choice of fried rice or steamed rice and either an eggroll or paper wrapped chicken all for 5.95 prior to discount applied!!! My boyfriend got the sweet and sour pork combo. we both were pleased! after two combos @ 5.95 each along with hot tea service and a soda our total came to just $12 bucks!! way cheaper than any fast food place and we were in and out within 45 mins! the owners were prompt and very sweet and answered any questions we had about the menu... they cater and offer a very extensive dinner menu as well as sushi, i can't wait to come back and try those out! read more

But it came out so hot and fresh I loved that part. The egg roll (even though small) along with the egg drop soup had ALOT of flavor, I love the sides it was so darn good. The curry beef was great, wish there was more beef. The portions were great considering the price (except for the egg roll) but it was fast and the flavors were there. They even gave me soy sauce and sweet and sour sauce/utensils. HOWEVER, the ham fried rice was not really good. It tasted weird but despite that everything else was still good. We were in the area ordering something from Tay Do when we chanced upon Ming's Garden. The place is really nice and from what it looks like it's a family business. We saw a kid setting up tables after customers and he's quite busy and lovin' what he do. We ordered several items from the menu, namely, Hot and Sour soup, Rock Cod in black bean sauce, Mixed Vegetables, Kung Pao Tofu and Pork Chop with Spicy Salt. The Hot and Sour soup taste different in the sense it's in a little sweet. I'm used to the sour taste and I guess that's why they called it Hot and Sour soup. This is a first for us. Both the mixed vegetables and rock cod dishes looked and tasted almost the same. We were assuming that the mixed vegetables will be in white sauce but it still had soy sauce and had it not for the black beans, the two would have been the same. From the five dishes we ordered, only the Kung Pao Tofu and Pork Chop with Spicy Salt tasted great and original. The tofu complemented the pork chop in the sense they were like yin and yan. I chose egg flower soup (bland), BBQ ribs and snow peas (loved the amount of veg and sliced meat, but lacking flavor), fried rice (two tiny bits of ham for a lot of rice that had no flavor at all), egg roll (decent if it wasn't so greasy... Sweet and sour sauce is watery here. Lo Mein is done cheaply, nothing special, brown sauce on it makes everything taste the same (salty, savory). But it could easily feed three people. Decor is modern, dining room is clean. Service isn't the friendliest, but they are attentive. It's too bad people just don't frequent this location, as it is empty most of the time. I have tried numerous egg flower soups here and in other states. Their's was the best. We ended up moving to West Jordan a few years ago and discovered that our restaurant had just moved to Taylorsville. When I feel sick my a bowl of their soup tastes so good! We love everything we have eaten there. Yes, it takes some time to get your order ready if you just walk in but it is made fresh. Order on line if you are in a hurry. I liked their orange chicken but prefer it sauced already so the flavors soak in. Not a big deal. Their hot and sour soup is excellent and this seems to be a miss for so many Asian cuisine restaurants these days so it was a real surprise and a nice treat to have a place where we know it's good so close to us. The sweet and sour was good too. Their egg rolls are ok but Canton Wok near them has excellent Vietnamese ones if you like something crunchier, different, not so cabbage laden. When they were renovating the building, I was overjoyed to see that they deliver. Love the 5.99 and 6.99 lunch specials (over 30 entrées!), including Egg Drop or Hot & Sour Soup, Egg Roll or Paper Wrapped Chicken, and Fried or Steamed Rice. The decorating choices work well and the fish and lotus blossom motif glass dividers are lovely. The shiny new tables are great, but I wish they wouldn't spray Windex when bussing them--the scent of ammonia wafted across the restaurant and interfered with the delicious smells, my appetite, and breathing. Both the servers working today were polite and helpful. The parking situation is a bit unfortunate--small lot makes it easy to get in, a little tricky to get out. Oh--and they don't use MSG. My Cashew Nut Chicken had large chunks of vegetables (delicious carrots, zucchini, and celery), plenty of meat, and a flavorful sauce. No veggies in the fried rice, but it was OK with the ham and a few pieces of egg. Mom had Prawns with Scrambled Eggs, an unusual meal which she enjoyed. Prawns tasted fresh. I live within walking distance of Ming's and was stoked to have a Chinese place with such good reviews nearby. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed my first go. Everything was very bland and tasted as if the oil in the fry machine had not been changed in years. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken. It was nothing like any General Tso's that I've had. Poorly breaded, very bland, and not spicy at all. On a spicy scale of 1-10, I would give it a zero. The menu misspelled "Tso" as "Tao." Maybe that was intentional and I was eating some other weaker general's chicken. My wife ordered a noodle dish. It was also very bland. And the noodle had the look and texture of American Beauty spaghetti from the grocery store down the street. I gave it two stars instead of one because the service was pleasant and attentive and the atmosphere was quiet and neatly decorated. However, I tried to order online yesterday and found out that the app place they are using to order no longer will let you use a credit card. The service is quick and the staff are super friendly and welcoming, the wait doesn't take long to be seated and the food is delicious.

This is probably the 6th or 7th time I've been here over the last few years and it's probably going to be my last. In the past, service was always pretty friendly and attentive. This evening, in a completely empty restaurant the service was one of the worst I have ever experienced. We sat close to 30 minutes waiting just to give our order. My husband actually had to walk over to the server and tell her we were ready to order. We ordered egg drop soup which tasted so sickly sweet we couldn't eat it. The BBQ Pork appetizer was so old and dry you couldn't even stick it with a fork or bite through it. It was completely inedible. The entrees were mediocre the Orange Chicken tasted stale like it was fried days ago and the General Tao's was soggy. The service remained terrible. No refills on our drinks until my husband had to get up again. She also never offered to remove the soup or the pork from our bill. Instead, after we complained she came back and told us she tried the soup and it tasted fine to her. After our experience tonight I'm sad to say we will never be going back or ordering from their delivery menu ever again. read more
