Within 24 hours, I received a multiple phone calls, an updated claim and satisfactory terms and conditions that more than satisfied the issues I outline below. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I do not write reviews on Yelp, but Clutter unleashed a different beast. I used Clutter for over a year in DC. I had a positive experience with moving my stuff into storage, but they absolutely butchered getting my stuff back. Here's what happened, with accompanying pictures below. - I had wrapped my mattress using a mattress protection bag prior to being put into storage. When I saw my mattress in the storage return from Clutter, the bag had been ripped and a corner of the mattress had been dirtied. - A Clutter mover recklessly wheeled my dresser into the corner of a doorway, shattering a bottom section of the dresser and scattering wood pieces in the hallway that I cleaned myself. - When moving my bed frame into my room, the Clutter mover hit the bed frame on the wall, damaging it. My building said their vendor would charge $200 for fixing the wall. - I opted to store my guitar amplifier, a Fender Blues Junior IV. I loaded the amplifier into a box at the loading dock, placing multiple "fragile" tags on it. I recall a Clutter mover scanning the amplifier into the system. The amplifier did not show up in the system and I did not receive it during my storage return. When I asked for an original itemized list of every item picked up, they did not provide it, instead pointing to the valuation process for assessing my claim. I have every reason to believe they broke the amp or delivered it to someone else. If you are going to use them, then buy the most expensive protection plan if you're going to store valuables. But that would put the price on par with other storage companies that will actually do a job of storing your valuables. TLDR: Clutter is awful. I will never use them again. It's pretty reassuring to see the many others who agree with me. Believe us and use someone else.

I booked this service for storage for a week and then to move my items to a new address. I explained to them then I did not get a good phone signal in the basement where I was staying and asked if they could text me and they complied. The day of the move I took off of work waited for them to arrive called the office. Several times was told they were on their way. I let the dispatcher know I was at the pick up and would wait for their arrival. I also explained I did not have a good cell signal, but I would stay there and wait. He said no problem. I waited until 5 PM. I called multiple times was always told the same thing after five. The dispatcher told me that they tried to call me and I did not pick up. I'll let them know. I had called multiple times and said to text me because I did not have a signal. I let dispatcher know I was waiting at the pick up location. To make matters worse, they charged me $259 for a service that never even happened. I disputed the charge with my credit card company and finally got my money back after two months -- only for Clutter to charge me the same amount again afterward. This is unacceptable and feels completely dishonest. I would never recommend Clutter to anyone. They wasted my time, cost me money, and treated me with zero accountability. I'm furious! I thought I'd be saving money and not only did I lose $250. The company that I ended getting at the last minute was a lot more than what I had budgeted for. The only good thing was how it sounded before I gave them my credit card number.

He had the audacity to flip it on me stating that I ruined my furniture, not his company. He undermined my concerns and completely brushed it off. Acted as though he couldn't be bothered. What a grand way to run a business. He asked, "I guess a better question is how do you know the movers who brought this to the storage unit (before his guys) didn't damage the furniture?" I said, "Because I moved them the first time and they were not ruined." He then proceeded to say "If you never took the blankets off to inspect in storage how could you be SO sure they weren't damaged?" EXCUSE ME. Because it's my furniture and I pay attention. My belongings weren't damaged by me, and they know it. To top it all off, they're not on the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint - how convenient... not. They take your money and will do anything in their power to 1. not take the blame, and 2. not give you the money you deserve back. I beg people not to use this company; the management is despicable.

My friend and I live in the same complex and moving to another unit across the parking lot. So, we need her place and my place moved into one space. We have packed everyone up and though we were ready to go. They called me to confirm my move today and spoke with Chris. We went over the items and then the price. He even threw in a free kitchen packing kit and said the guys would help. Cool. He also gave me discount and I was happy. Kion calls me an hour later asking me to confirm the move. What? I spoke to Chris. We go over things and he tells me we are good to go. I am emailed a confirmation and then see a different price. I call back and speak to him again and he says, oh, that is an estimate but we would be done before that price. Then, I get a call from Mike. He wants to confirm my move and inventory. What the heck? He says his notes are confusing so he wants to check. We go over things, AGAIN. He then tells me that it sounds like more work so, he is going to send 5 guys instead of the original 2 guys and a truck because it's gonna be a big job and that it would take 9-12 hours and double the price that I was told. Umm, what? For a 2 bedroom apartment?? He tells me I can speak to his general manager, Kion. I literally confirmed with him before! I literally start crying because I am already stressed from preparing to move in a timely manner before the 31st. Kion and I speak again and he won't even let me get a word in and trying to say that the numbers Mike estimated are correct and that there is no way it wouldn't be a full day job. They were flexible with us as we had to reschedule due to weather, and had several complicated moves that were handled very well. As with any move, we took care ourselves to wrap things, communicate our needs and expectations, but I would do that with any mover. Ask questions, clarify and explain what you want. All furniture was wrapped carefully with moving blankets and secured and all breakables were treated with care. I've never seen a team of people work so hard!

Once from Indiana to Baltimore City, and the second from Baltimore City to Michigan. The first time I moved with them, the moving coordinator I worked with was very communicative, checked in with me throughout the moving process (including when my items were being picked up), and was conscious of my anxiety levels. The second time I moved, I needed to contact Stephanie to remind her of upcoming deadlines, follow up with her when she said that she would get back to me and failed to do so, and was also unprofessional at times, uttering profanities like "retarded" in reference to the move itself when on the phone with her. What's more is that one of my inventory items never even arrived to me. They launched an audit to find the lost items but came back empty, so I guess one of their workers just walked off with it. The pay out on the audit also was less than half of what the items were valued at. Some of the items that were lost can't be replaced. Like how does something just walk off? You're a moving company that specializes in moving things, and you're one of the most expensive brands in the market with guaranteed service. Since, I denied claims coverage, because frankly my whole moving ordeal was a lot more than expected, I had my claim denied. Excuse me, was there a way to re-obtain claims coverage? There's always some catch, whether it's the quality of the movers or some hidden policy in the fine print that you always miss until it's too late, and received 3 bids. We didn't have high hopes and was prepared for an unmarked, late truck to arrive on the day of our move. It was ultimately our great interactions with their office (Jason and Matt) that made us decide to choose McKendree. The movers Kenny, Ronni, Tim and Antonio arrived promptly as stated. They were efficient, professional, patient and NEVER complained. Never...even hustled through 100 degree heat, rarely taking breaks. It was obvious these were not subcontractors - they knew what they were doing and maneuvered bulky furniture (eg piano) strategically and carefully. This was the most efficient and easiest move and I can't thank them enough for making what is usually an extremely stressful day less so.
