Great experience at Canvas with Theresa! They were able to get me in for a last minute updo before a wedding and couldn't be happier with the end results and my overall experience. I was in town for a Friday wedding and called at around noon day of the wedding and they were able to get me in by 3:15. If I was local I'd make this my go to salon. I've gotten my hair done here twice. It looked super nice at first but they did keep adding things on that cost extra money and didn't let me know. But I had like the results at the time so it was fine with me. But I have had the same issue where, after a month the color just completely fades out. I usually get a full foil with a toner and get the roots blended. I'm honestly not very impressed because this is a five star salon. And paying about $250 to get color that just doesn't last doesn't sit right with me. I would try to look into somewhere that actually has the color last more than a month and a half! I will say the service is great and everyone is very nice, but it's just not the results I was looking for because I don't like to get my hair done every two months read more

Kearson is Amazing!!! She is helping me transition from a Deep Dark Brown (almost Black) to a really light brown/dark blonde because I am So sick of coloring the grays every 2 weeks! Yes, 2 weeks = exhausting & expensive. She has given me Loads of highlights to lighten the brown, which disguises the new gray growth. Hubby and friends all Love the new lighter look! She takes her time, explains what she's doing along the way, and truly Cares about Me and the final product! Also, the salon itself is a great environment. I highly recommend Canvas. I came in for a correction of highlights gone wrong from another salon. I was very nervous that they couldn't be fixed, but Christen assured me she would do her best. I am very happy with the work she did. She foiled me (other salon did not), and used Olaplex to keep my hair from breaking. She even went back and added more highlights when she saw they were needed after blowing me out. I never felt that she was impatient like some other stylist's elsewhere have been, and she listened to what I want. Wish I lived in Charleston so that I could be a regular, but I'm happy I found Canvas! read more

When I moved to Charleston my hair was a big mess. I mean I had been coloring it myself and it was a complete disaster(imagine worst possible here....). Christin was my hair stylist during my first appointment, and she told me, there is no miracle saving you hair, it'll take time. So I took the time and her advice seeing her every 8 weeks to get my hair back to normal. It's been 3 years and I don't want to leave Charleston because that menas leaving the hair stylist that brought my hair from a disaster to a beautiful natural look (which is what I wanted). She's amazing, just need to point that out. She knows color, and she is always kind and honest. I couldn't have chosen a better salon. Relaxed and unpretentious. Very professional but also homelike atmosphere. I have had a series of great haircuts and colors here. The salon never feels rushed or snobby - unlike many other Downtown establishments. The staff is responsive and easy to make appointments with and I've not run into any flakiness here which along with punctuality, has been a problem for me with other salons. I have the strangest story about this salon. I was referred to a specific stylist by a friend of mine. This stylist just so happened to work at this salon after moving around Charleston. To be clear the following complaints/frustration is not directed to the stylist (hence why I have not named her). I actually was quite pleased with my service, I came in for a partial foil highlight growth touchup. I've been looking for a while now for a stylist in the area (I grew up with my mom doing my hair and since I've moved away from home I have been on the search). I wanted the highlights to be toned to match my existing highlights. I feel like the highlights weren't as toned as much as I had wanted which was fine just needed them to be toned a tad darker. I was told that it couldn't be corrected that same day because the stylist was very booked up so I'd have to come in for a separate appointment on a different day. Okay so I went to pay and for whatever reason the salon receptionist Lindsay ends up totaling me up to more than I was expecting. Side note: I scheduled a consultation appointment a few weeks prior and asked for the quote for my hair for the services I wanted. I shared with her that I thought it was strange that I came in for a consult and end up being told of all these extra fees. She then says she'll knock some of it off and I was just confused. I then asked if I'd be expected to pay for the touchup toner session and she informed me no that all touch ups are complimentary. I told her okay and paid left the tip and all and walked out. I was frustrated that I didn't get everything I wanted done all in one session but at no fault to the stylist. It seems like the salon likes to book them up like sardines. On my drive home I get a call from the salon receptionist Lindsay saying that they wanted to refund the complete amount I paid and cancel my touch up appointment and refer me to another stylist at another salon. I was extremely confused. I explicitly stated that I had no issues with the stylist and was looking forward to getting my hair toned the color I needed. She said that basically that hey didn't want me as a client. (I mean I read between the lines there). So suggestion if you're deciding to go on or not, if you do don't share your opinions/comments. Sit, get your service and go pay. Cross your fingers it comes out exactly the way you want because this salon doesn't seem to want to try to get it right if they don't the first time. (Again my complaints here are not directed to the stylist, I'm actually quite sad that this happened because I actually really like her. She did make me feel quite comfortable) read more
