The burger was just not that flavorful and was a perfectly pre-portioned shape, leading me to believe it was a frozen and not fresh patty. Not juicy at all, it simply was just not a very good burger. Smash. Burger. Overpriced. On my recent visit to Canyons in downtown Woodstock, I got the signature smash burger. I appreciate that it wasn't overloaded with burger fixin's... just the necessities. The smash burger sauce was unique and made the burger feel a little more special. It was really juicy, and it had a good meat-bread ratio. Unfortunately, what makes this burger a little lackluster is the lack of texture. It's almost too greasy, and (especially from a smash style burger) I expect some gristle. The regular crinkle fries were pretty standard- well salted though. The sweet potato fries were actually pretty good as far as the sides. This is the kind of restaurant where the sides are priced separately from already $12 burgers. So, it's impossible to get a basic burger meal for less than $16-$20 depending on your side and drink. The highlight of the night was the chicken tenders actually. It's just really good fried chicken- especially paired with the Canyons Sauce. Additionally, the milkshakes were pretty great actually. The vanilla and chocolate shakes are... yum! These were super thick (but drinkable through a straw) milkshakes. Service was a quick order taking process, but a pretty slow delivery. The food is fine, and a little pricy. Given it is in a main downtown area with high foot traffic, I'd say it's worth a try if you are looking for something specific in the area. In downtown Woodstock, it's hard to find much cheaper, but there is definitely better food at other places in the strip. read more

My wife and I have been coming here for a while. For me, they consistently make great food! The burgers are always my go to, and the fries are epic. Love the shakes too although I WISH mine had just a tad more strawberry flavor. The Ranch is PROPER ranch dressing and beats anyone else's ranch within a 20 mile radius. I will die on that hill. This is the very first time I have ever gotten anything from Canyons other than a burger. Man am I a FAN of that Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich now. Right amount of heat. Not the Smokey greasy heat you typically get on a Nashville hot. This had the RIGHT amount of spice. Garlicky, and well seasoned. The pickles and pimento cheese were a perfect flavor combo. Dip it in the ranch. Trust me. I will now CRAVE this sandwich. Anyone who serves me crave-able food will continue to get my business. Tuesday nights is kids night (I believe kids eat free I think. but I'm old. Trust but verify) The service is always good and as I cleared my table, one of the gentleman offered to toss it for me. This is one of my favorite burger places! I used to go to Cheeseburger Bobby's but ever since they changed their recipe I had to switch it up. If you want something nicer than McDonald's or Burger King, this is the place to go. I will say the downtown Woodstock location can be a challenge sometimes, especially with where they're located. Parking is a nightmare. The new deck they built may help a bit but the immediate parking area is not great. I usually end up parking at Elm Street and walking over. The place is brightly lit and they take your order relatively quickly. I will say it's on the pricier side of burgers- it's about $10 for my order (cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and pickle). If you order any of their speciality burgers, it can run you from $12-15ish. The burgers are al a carte, meaning it's just the burger price. If you want a drink or side there is an additional charge. The food came out fairly quickly and was warm, juicy and delicious. I will also say their bathrooms seem to be consistently clean, which is a must for me. Will be back! read more

The service was good but slow. We ate here the other night and I was surprised by the number of people in here after 8pm. I can't believe I've never reviewed this place. I am here once every 4 months or so and get the same burger every time: the pimento cheese and bacon jam burger. It is so good!! Typically when you order burgers like this, they put way too many topping on it and half of the burger ends up on the plate. Somehow they've managed to put just enough pimento cheese and bacon jam where you taste it in every bite and none is dripping on your shirt. I usually get French fries or a side salad, but the onion rings are also good. This is not a $ place. More of a $$. The burgers are $9-$13 and then you pay for a side ($3) as well. Parking in downtown Woodstock can be a challenge on a beautiful weekend, but you will eventually find something and most of it is free. read more

Went here after one my games coaching and I figured how busy can it be at 11:15 am. Well restaurant was not packed but parking took me a good 15 mins. Understand restaurant cannot control the parking, plan ahead and you will be good. Now to the good stuff! The ambiance as I mentioned is good. Everything is laid out in a good way and the menu is not too big and it too limiting, The food I have to say was very good. Sometimes burgers come out too greasy, underdone, overdone, or simply too many toppings. Mine was the perfect balance between burger, condiments and the bread held together very well. First off the crispy chicken salad is fantastic! The service is hit or miss. I only have 1 hour for lunch and sometimes it can take up to 20 minutes for the order to come out. I drive 15 minutes to get here and 15 to get back. Today I was next in line to order behind a customer who couldn't seem to make up their mind about what to order. It was taking an incredibly long time. There was a second cashier that had no customers at his register and clearly saw me waiting but never offered to help me. Really can't go wrong here. This is a hugely popular joint right smack dab in the middle of downtown Woodstock. They have a huge arsenal of good quality food that's made from scratch. More of a less quick fast food operation. Literally everything is good here. I've had just about everything. What's nice is that if you want a different meat for a burger and you prefer the toppings on the beef option. They would be happy to provide that toppling on your choice. Fries are crinkle cut, onion rings are breaded. The chicken tenders are freshly made to order and another great thing is that they have really really good monthly specials. This month is the marinated grilled caprice chicken sandwich topped with spinach and balsamic glaze. I didn't know what to expect when my buddy suggested we try canyons for the first time, but I'm so glad we did. We both ordered the 5 tender meal with fries and canyons sauce, as well as Texas toast. Short version: it's a good place, but it's expensive. My good was delicious. Excellent taste, quality ingredients. The portion size was a bit small. It was enough, but not what I'd call generous. The prices are one of the two major downfalls. I got a burger, fries, and a drink, and it was $19 before tip. Yikes! It was good, but not $20 good. The second downfall to me was the crowdedness. Apparently a lot of people like it! When we were there, we had to wait for a table, and then it was either take a dirty table or lose it to another opportunistic diner. Not much Canyons can do about it, but just something to be aware of as you visit. I wouldn't recommend it, but nor would I turn anyone aside from it. They do have outdoor seating. read more

Not a bad place for quick bite. I was kinda hungry rather late after my wife and I had been out shopping and trekking all over downtown Woodstock. I wanted a burger, but didn't want something like BK or McDonald's, so we opted to stop in here for a veggie burger and fries and watch a sporting event that was on TV. I ordered a plant based Impossible Burger here. I eat them all the time, from BK to Wahlburgers to Freakin Burger, so I figured I'd get theirs and compare the difference in the way they're cooked (not all impossible burgers are the same, based on the condiments, who cooked it, if it's cooked away from meat burgers, oil). This one took a very long time to cook. I don't know why we waited so long for the food to come out, but we sure did. They weren't busy, no one was in line ahead of us. It was late, but they were cleaning etc. We finally got our food and it was fine. The fries were not quite hot enough, but were seasoned well. The burger was fine, but not quite the level of a Wahlburger Impossible Burger, but it was fine, just a little bit dry. I think they cooked that burger way too long. We were able to watch the game and whatnot and it was better than grabbing an expensive meal at a bar downtown or just hitting BK or the drive thru. By the time the food arrived, we were quite famished. They had nice al fresco dining outside, large screen TV's overhead and a decent burger menu. However, today (5/2/2023) we placed a $28 pickup order they said would be ready in 15-20 minutes but was ready within 5 minutes. (We placed our order immediately after walking our Frenchie around downtown Woodstock)! We get home and the food is COLD and not what we expected.
