Stopped in here for the first time recently, and was floored by how great it was. We came in for lunch, and got a pretty decent selection of food - started with the chips and queso (pictured). The chips were lightly seasoned and perfectly crisp, and the queso was served with diced jalapenos on top. Yum! For lunch, I got the mac and cheese with mushrooms and truffle oil (pictured), another at the table got the veggie melt (pictured) and our third got the gyro. Everyone loved their meals - I may be trying that veggie melt next time around - it looked amazing. However, I can't say enough good things about the mac and cheese. I was really surprised at just how good it was, considering I was expecting just standard "bar food." Excellent. YUM. Rude and disorganized! Didn't even bother ordering food. Walked in and was ignored so me and my friend decided to seat ourselves at a corner table without menus (and no one else around). Waited 5 minutes and were greeted by a guy that yelled at us saying we can't sit there, and then he just left. Didn't say hi, didn't ask if we wanted anything to drink. We just left immediately as it left a bad taste in our mouths. Came here from a recommendation of the Hilton concierge... we should have known better, clearly they wanted to stimulate the local neighborhood. First table was dive bar sticky, so we moved to the back patio only to get dripped on with cold rain for the whole meal from the tin roof in the back. It's a cool looking space, but clearly not weather proof. We got way better service from the guy at the bar than our waitress... wish that hospitality would have continued! Show up 30-45 minutes before Vikings game. Bar opens at 10 if a game is at 11 on Sunday. Street parking across bar is free on Sundays. Obviously it's a Vikings bar. I was pleased with a random visit to this place. First off they have about 10 parking spots in the back so that is always a plus downtown! We came for wing night but was surprised at what a deal we got. 2 pounds of wings and a free pitcher for $28.00 so for 2 people, you can not beat that (and that price was with 2 beers purchased preciously so an even cheaper dinner night!) Situated a few blocks south of the City and County building is the unpretentious Cap City Tavern. It's a popular hang out for city employees and other professionals in the area, mostly because the food is dependable and good, the beer is cold and the staff are professional and get you in and out fast, but without feeling rushed. We stopped in for a celebration around lunch time. Just bringing in a larger party to a downtown establishment around lunchtime is typically a recipe for disaster, but Cap City? They got your back. The staff and the kitchen keep things humming at a constant pace. We had stellar service from the minute we all starting rolling in at different times. Our server didn't bat an eye. We each received drinks shortly after we sat down and our drinks were kept filled during our meal. I ordered the soup of the day and a small wedge salad. More than enough food to fill me up. Everyone enjoyed their meal and we topped it off with a salted caramel brandino, which is something like a soft pudding or custard. It was to die for. All in all a great mid-day meal with attentive service at a good price. If you haven't tried it, I recommend you check it out next time you're in the area of the library or art museum. read more

This place reminds me of my favorite place to eat in my home town of Kansas City! If you visit or move to Denver from KC, this is your new "Peanut", I promise! :) Not only can you come and get a drink while you watch whatever sport is in season (SKOL VIKS! :)), you can also have the BEST version of whatever typical bar and grill order is your favorite. They also have plenty of awesomely unexpected flavors and choices. It's truly classy but cozy bar and grill. What a little gem this place is. 24 oz of PBR love in a can. That's right people, channel your inner Joe Dirt and feel the love. Once we were properly liquefied by our fantastic waitress we ordered the wings. Deep fried to wing perfection. Not too spicy hot which was fine and they were still steaming when they arrived. Delish. My friend and I each ordered a burger. We asked the server if she could have the kitchen cut them in half as we were going to share. No problemo. My friends girlfriend was not denied when she asked if she could order a grilled cheese from the kids section. Nice. When our burgers came out the server was thoughtful enough to put the different halves of the burgers on our plates. I can't say there was a flavor explosion in my mouth but they were tasty. I need to update because this place is GOOD! This is a bar that you could easily make your list of places that "know you by your real name". They have die hards who some would call Bar Flys, but i would call people you can chat with about anything! I talked about insurance companies, baseball, relationships... : ) not a bored moment! Ok: the best Brussels sprouts I've had, aside from what I make at home. Very good burger, and perfect job from the kitchen on "pale pink" . Kudos to the chef . This sports bar is across the street from the Denver Art Museum, too. My server, Derin, was helpful, open minded and friendly, even though it was pretty busy during the lunch hour. Clearly lots of DAM Monet visitors were there eating. I had a double IPA at recommendation of Derin. Made it hard to eat the entire meds I had, which was huge. Cap City Tavern is a favorite of my friends and I for college football Saturdays. It's a Huskers bar (and owing to the fact that several of the group are Nebraska alum and die hard fans, we frequent Cap City on game days). The food and service are both good. A few specialties include the runza, a Nebraska dish that I haven't tried but everyone raves about, and the banana's foster bites which are VERY addictive. I've always felt that the atmosphere is very pleasant and I love the artwork on display around the bar. I'm sure we'll continue to frequent Cap City even beyond college football season. read more

Garlic knots are fantastic! They are hot, fresh and taste homemade. The dipping sauce is kind of like a chunky tomato sauce - which it were more of a paste, but that's personal preference. The BLT was huge and the bread was nicely toasted. Fries were good. The simple arugula salad with shaved parm was nice. Overall, I enjoyed my first visit here. Went a second time to try the tacos on special. Had the Al Pastor. Honestly, I've had better. The meat was too thickly cut and chewy. But I did enjoy the pineapple in it. I recommend they slice the pork a little more thinly... But for the price it's not a bad snack. Friday night, 630PM and my friend and I were looking for somewhere to eat. He literally lives a couple of blocks away and thanks to yelp we figured this was the best choice. I called ahead to see how busy it was and the gentleman who answered said they were buy but they could put a reserve sign on the table for us. 5 mins later were there and see a table with a sign and sit down. It was loud, just like a typical sports type bar. After a few mins looking over the menu we decided on queso (which the server raved about) and I got the fish tacos. YUM YUM YUM! Queso was homemade and hot! The fish tacos weren't breaded or deep friend but fresh fish grilled. WAY more than I expected for a place like this with the awesome food. The atmosphere seems fun but we had to work really hard to ignore the attitude we got and focus on our awesome company in order to enjoy our time here. Our waitress ( Evelyn ) was extremely rude. She seemed to want us out of the restaurant as soon as possible. She talked over us and didn't listen to anything we asked for. She came around to check on our table ( a fly by) and when I asked for a beer that I previously said I didn't want, she scolded me! She reached over the table and practically hit me in the face. Let me first start off by saying that the broccoli cheddar soup I had was pretty delicious, they had drink specials for Pride, and the food runners were very nice. The side of "truffle" mac and cheese was pretty big but just not good, very bland and just way to cheesy, like over the top. The thing that threw me off was my server. The waitress I had must have been having a horrible day or maybe she is just unpleasant all the time, I am not a regular so I don't know. She was really surly. It took forever to get her attention and she was very curt with the orders. She was even rude to the other tables. I think we were all burnt out from the weekend but that is no excuse to be rude. I have been coming to this place for over a decade, literally, a picture of me, from ten years ago, sitting on their patio for when I went to Geeks Who Drink just came up on my "On This Day" section of Facebook today. They have always been a little over priced for their food but I had enjoyed going there. Maybe will be back but maybe not.
