Beer Disneyland!! You name it, they have it. It has been awesome to try new beers at restaurants around the LA Area and then be able to purchase them in the neighborhood! (Check out The Faculty on Heliotrope if you are a crafts beer connoisseur!) Not to be overlooked is their fantastic selection of wines, and staff who are very knowledgeable and friendly. Two of my boys and I stumbled in here after a snack at Green Leaves, a walk down to Wacko and the Salvation Army, and the horrific realization that the Tiki Ti was not open. Clearly, we needed some booze. I was very pleasantly surprised when I walked in -- big and clean and neat with a huge selection! Don't let the dumb name of this place fool you. This place has a great selection of craft beers and liquor. I found my favorite porter in the world here. I can't say much about the wine selection because I've never really checked it out. Again, the craft and import beers were a distraction. Blessed by thy hipsters to be given such a wonderful establishment as Cap n' Cork. Beer is plentiful in selection, they even have some unique belgiums you don't usually see in these parts, and the brews are priced really well. I mean given any of the nearby choices, these guys could jack up prices a fair bit but they don't. And everyone working here is friendly and hilarious, like it isn't hard to imagine any one of these guys being the "cool drunken uncle" type at family gatherings. This is such a great neighborhood corner liquor store, the staff is super friendly and helpful and there selection of import beers, pints, wine and spirits is unmatched except by a a big depot like store. In general kind of pricey but you are paying for the convenience of being able to get almost anything you want alcohol wise right in your own neighborhood. Pretty good prices (for what I buy). Blue Ice vodka was $13.99 a bottle. They also carry Pimm's Blackberry Elderflower which I found at a different liquor store that no longer carries it. Right up the street from my place (walkable) I'm not a big beer drinker but my friends are ;) so this place is the tits! It's got everything I could name, and then some, and then some more..... But what I really LOVED about this place when I walked in was that I could find good ol' TITO's Vodka there. As a recent Texas transplant, it was nice to have something from home out here. Now after I've been here for a minute, I wanted to try something more local. He showed me TRU Organics which is made right here in beautiful Cali!! I've purchased German beer there for years. When I told them repeatedly that they have old and expired beers in the fridge, they tried to tell me it's the date when it was made. Some beers had a date of 2019, really!? Insulting the customers, not fun. No stars! read more

I was always intrigued by the giant Capt. Morgan statue Cap N' Cork has outside their large liquor store, and so, when my search for Rye Whiskey (Tiki Bar TV had me out hunting down bottles for their latest drink recipe) turned up empty at the local Vons, it seemed like a perfect opportunity to check out this intriguing vice depository. It's not as big as it appears from the outside. Tons of wine, not much in the way of hard liquor, and what they do have is all behind the counter; so that's not much fun. And the prices were pretty high, a lot higher than, say , BevMo anyway. And they only had one kind of rye whiskey... OK, I have no idea if that's par the course with rye whiskey, but I'd thought they'd have more. (The Tiki Bar TV drink I made, by the way, was pretty gross) read more

Great beer selection! Prices aren't cheap but no more expensive than anyone else selling the more unique brands. Guess that's just the cost of enjoying quality suds. Friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend this store for beer connoisseurs. The wine selection looks pretty good too (if not somewhat strangely arranged in diagonal aisles). I can't say enough good things about this place. I'm so glad it exists. Firstly, they have an incredible selection. Beer, wine, champagne, liquor, everything. And anything they don't have they are happy to order for you. They have handy little guides on the wall with info about different types of beer. They have a bunch of snacks too. Living near this liquor store is great. The employees are so kind and helpful and the selection of beer can't be beat. Much more pleasant to shop at than corporate stores like Bevmo and with just as great of a selection. I buy a six-pack or two here every week, rarely drink the same beer twice -- they have a great selection of imports and American craft beers -- and always have a pleasant conversation upon checkout. If you're a wine drinker, they also have a great wine selection, including changing recommendations from the staff of the best-value wines in different categories. The absolute BEST specialty/craft/Belgian beer selection I have seen in L.A thus far. Cap N' Cork blows The Oaks Gourmet, BevMo, and everyone else out of the water. I remember when this place was a significantly smaller liquor store across the street (where Desert Rose now resides) and was delighted to walk in and see this amazing space they now occupy. I can't speak about the wine because I spent most of my time daydreaming about all these beers, but I will definitely get acquainted with them soon. Nice guys behind the counter--funny and friendly. I've been here a number of times and every time I go, I remember why I don't come here a lot. The prices are terribly high, as in %50 than elsewhere. Now, I'm happy to pay $5 more to support local business, especially when they can give you that wonderful neighborhood-feeling service, but I went there to buy a gift asking for a whiskey in the $40 range and a guy upsold me to $60. I didn't even feel like I trusted his taste, but I figured I could return it later if I learned it was a bad bottle. When I went home I googled it and found that very whiskey was usually around $40, I went back only to learn all sales were final. Now, this isn't their fault, it's the law in California for alcohol. But I went there trusting that I'd get good service and now I just feel really cheated. I walked out feeling scammed and disappointed knowing I could have got a friend a better bottle at that price point if I had gone anywhere else. I won't be returning. That being said, I'll give them that the store is clean and nice looking on the inside. If you would like a nice aesthetic and don't mind things costing %50 more than elsewhere, this is your store. read more

Okay...a few things here. Do not underestimate the staff. These are not just liquor store workers - they actually know their shit. At least Michael (I hope that's his name) does. Need a wine recommendation? ASK HIM. He's the tall guy that wear glasses. He has recommended so many delicious wines to us to compliment anything we're eating at any price range. In short - He knows his wines, don't...DON'T be afraid to ask...unless you like starring at wines wondering what might taste good...get one that really matters with your food or just to drink ;D Also...any type of beer or cider (Ace's!!!) and I even saw today a total D&D mead...heehee. don't let the name fool you. the only thing junior market about this place are the salty snacks that were meant to accompany alcoholic beverages. this is about the only negative thing i can say about cap n cork. i was searching for a local liquor store because i was tired of having that 'i know i'm gonna get stabbed' feeling every time i stopped by the many name less mini-marts that haunt hollywood blvd. soooo glad i found cap n cork. this means no more having to look behind my back before hunching over the cooler to grab a six pack. no more having to repeat "please don't stab me, please don't stab me" in my head as the suspicious looking transient that just entered starts looking around with a pissed off look on his face. cap n cork is not only safe but a haven for the adventurous beer drinker. this is one of those places where you chuckle to yourself as you try to pronounce the myriad of german/czech/belgium imports and aside from imports, cap n cork also carries a variety of domestics and a few micro brews. if the giant wine selection doesn't impress you, the staples center sized scoreboard of hard liquor bottles behind the counter might. cheers! read more

My go to place to pick up drinks for a party or just to re-stock my personal stash. They have a wide variety of craft beer. I like that some selection offers individual bottles, so you can try them before committing to a 6 pack. The appears to be a large selection of wine and liquor too, but I typically come here for the beer selection. There's a decent sized parking lot by the building on Prospect Ave. The staff doesn't seem to be fully versed on everything they carry, which I understand with such a large selection... I recently asked if they carried a pumpkin sour, and they replied "no" but then I found it in their store after walking around for a bit. read more

The owner of this business is a scam artist. The pizza place across the street (Cruzer's - great pizza and great price, by the way) will confirm that he has cars towed constantly - EVEN IF THEY JUST BOUGHT SOMETHING FROM HIS BUSINESS! He will lie in wait and the second somebody runs across the street from his business to pick up a pizza or whatever, the tow truck is there. Then as much as you beg, they will extort money from you to keep your car from being towed. He is very nasty about it, and has a very threatening demeanor. He does this any time of day or night - even when the lot is empty, and it is illegal! Stay away from this dump. I don't care how good his beer selection is - he does not deserve anyone's business. read more

My dog has become all too familiar with the interior of this store. We love the great selection of craft beer. They do a great job of rotating the selection. They also have plenty of wine and liquor.
