I hate to say it but the wines here are not good. We tried two different flights and only "liked" one taste--which wasn't even a knockout. For such a beautiful property, you'd expect the wines to be drinkable. read more

If Willow Creek winery is closed and you're tempted to go to Cape May winery as a consolation, do yourself a favor and go buy a bottle of wine and drink it at home. The whole set up is confusing. You have to wait to get seated, but then you have to go order your drinks and your food separately a la fast food restaurant vibe. And when I say drinks and food separately, I mean, order food in one line and go to a separate line to order wine. No opportunity to have a taste before you commit to a glass if you want to try several different whites or several different reds you have to order a flight. Because nobody's pouring you a sip and asking you what you think. I'd have had a better experience drinking a bottle of wine at home. read more

This winery is open all year round and has a fabulous wine tasting room. Very comfortable atmosphere with a fireplace going in the cooler months. Fantastic assortment of wines for tasting. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful in guiding you in suggesting what wines you may like and will make recommendations for your sampling. They were right on the money. The vanilla port was amazing. We have been here many times and totally enjoy our experience. They offer cheese and delicious tapas to purchase in the gift shop area to have with your wine tasting. Many wines from Cape May Winery are offered in local restaurants that are BYOB. My favorite time of year to visit is Spring and Fall. The guided tours are very interesting and fun with a group. This winery should definitely be on your list of ones to try in the area. read more

Attended Grill Night on the 15th of July! Excellent food! Steak and the marinaded tomatoes were excellent. Music by Jay Bethel so nice! Not too loud, just enough and of course the wine is my favorite. The Syrah paired perfectly with the steak! Can't wait to come again!! read more

Fantastic spot! We went here tonight to see some live music and so my wife could have some wine flights. Such a beautiful place. We sat outside. It was a perfect date night. We got some tuna tacos and some delicious salads. Filling too. The tacos were in won ton hard shells with avocado inside. Very creative. I got a blueberry mock tail that was really good and not too sweet. A lot of times they go too hard on the sweetners with non alcoholic stuff. We hung out here for close to 3 hours. It's just a really nice place to chill out. read more

CAPE MAY: we were truly charmed by Cape May Winery and, although no surprise, visiting this spot reinforced that there are great small businesses and how we really have it all here in New Jersey! Leashed and friendly dogs are allowed at designated areas, so check with the host to be seated. Open daily throughout the year, come for the wine made from their own farmed grapes and stay to enjoy a tapas-inspired food menu, and a stroll amongst the Napa Valley-like grounds. We really got lost in the beauty of the place and the sense of whimsy and magic. We enjoyed a bottle of one of their white wines and you can also order by the glass or in a flight for a wine tasting. There is a nice selection of varietals to choose from. read more

I wish I loved this place as much as the other reviewers. The grounds are very pretty. We came in and didn't realize how to get a table and everything said reserved. You have to go see the hostess. Finally a staff member helped us but we didn't get a seat outside which we wanted. I did a white flight and my mom did a red flight. She liked one of her wines and bought it. I didn't like any of mine. I wanted to like something and buy it but it didn't happen. I wouldn't bother returning here. read more

On 10/10 my husband & I took a trip to Cape May Winery for the first time! Now not a lot of NJ wineries impress me but this winery is definitely in my top 3 favorites! The wines were very flavorful & not overly sweet! The outside accommodations were lovely & so much room! The indoor sections were also spacious and lovely. If we had not been on a budget for our wedding we both agreed this would have been a top contender for a venue to get married at! The staff was very friendly & welcoming! The wine selections were incredible & the food was also tasty! Definitely will come back down if we visit the area again! read more

Beautiful Vineyard with a lot of outdoor seating. Came out of season so I was unable to see the winery at its peak. This place is quite busy, but there are still a lot of places to sit. Came during a weekend so there was live music making it more enjoyable. You order your food and wine in a certain area and receive a beeper thing when it's ready. The wines were very delicious and I enjoyed the wide variety that they had to taste. I definitely went on the sweeter side vs dry this time around, which I did not regret. The food was very delicious, but of course the portions were not that large. I got the polenta and chicken sliders which were delicious, but I felt it was a tad over priced. Regardless I would still come by here again during peak season for the more scenic views. read more

This winery was a serve yourself, not bad for them but when you're seated at the back building and have to walk your wine and food back to your own table. Hands full, trying not to spill, maybe ask for front seating next time! Not the best and most ideal concept, but overall food was okay. Better than most winery food i've had. Wine was great and was priced well per glass. read more

Beautiful grounds. A lovely place to walk and take photos in nature. The tasting room was equally as beautiful. As was the outside patio. Lots of places to enjoy your food. The staff was so patient with me as I picked my drink. I could've easily gotten a flight but opted to just get the Isaac Smith Apple. I LOVED it!! They have a good selection of food to pick from. I chose the Nashville Hot Slider. The lady working that section was the friendliest!! I wished there were all as sweet. The sandwich had a great crunch but it wasn't hot at all and I could hardly taste ANY sauce. Maybe they need to rebrand it and say fried chicken sandwich so there's no expectations. Because as is, it was still a yummy sandwich. I had a wonderful time here and would recommend it to anyone! read more

Beautiful grounds and some of the best wines (white) that I've tried in NJ! We ordered a flight of dry whites and a blueberry mocktail,and these did not disappoint! Came on a busy Sunday afternoon,an hour before closing,and there was plenty of space to find some shade and privacy on a hot day. Pups are welcome,parking is available on a dedicated lot. Must visit when in Cape May! read more

Loved it here! Really pretty winery. We each had a flight and I liked all the wines I had. I did the estate flight. My favorite was the white blend. I thought the prices were really reasonable. Our charcuterie board was really nice and had great variety. Everything I tried was really good and the lavender honey was amazing! You can buy it by the jar. I would definitely get it if you like honey!! It was really nice and relaxing sitting outside by the fountain. We really enjoyed our visit here. I would definitely come here again. read more

Love this vineyard in the summer, but I also love that they stay open year round and have indoor seating! We came here to celebrate my mom's birthday in January. It was so fun! The spring/summer is super crowded here but we were pleasantly surprised that it was empty! The worker pouring our wine said that Sundays are usually quieter than Saturdays year round, so keep that in mind! I tried the sauvignon blanc and cab sav reserve. Both were great, but I think I preferred the red, even though I'm normally a white wine girl. I was pleasantly surprised! Definitely a must visit when in Cape May! read more

Absolutely excellent food, wine and ambience. However, because of that it's popular so be prepared for a less intimate atmosphere and a 90 minute table limit. It's not well advertised on their website but they have several gluten free food options including a gluten free crust for their flatbread. read more

Excellent Winery Beautiful outdoor seating with a view of the vines. Great set up for service. They have two self serve windows one to order food and one to order drinks. This concept is very efficient. The food and wine both very good. The prices are very reasonable. A definite must stop while in Cape May. By far better than competing wineries in the area. Came here a little before closing. Nice lobby area with some cute things you can buy. Go inside and there is seating and couches. We ordered wine flights at the counter, which has a beautiful fountain on the wall behind the counter. The employee poured our wine into three glasses (we both got the red flight) and we took it to our table in the sun room area and seated ourselves. Nice area that would definitely be fun when its warmer out with a garage door that opens up. We had a great view of the vineyard and the barn in the back. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and our last stop in Cape May. Would definitely go back to get more wine! read more

I recently had the privilege of visiting this local winery. It was so nice to be greeted by staff who love their business and are passionate about wine. We took a tour of the beautiful grounds, tasting area, and gigantic production facility which was set up for special events. The winemakers described what was currently in the barrels and even gave us a sampling of what wines will be bottled. There was a wide variety of wines for sale to please every palette. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The tasting rooms were decorated beautifully and made you feel instantly welcome. I left with several bottles and will be back again to enjoy a glass of wine in their beautiful tasting rooms. This is a great way to spend the day on your way to the shore. read more

Absolutely stunning winery with great wines! I was in the area with a girlfriend for a wedding, and we decided to do some exploring. We both love wine so this was a logical choice! What a gorgeous location! The inside is just lovely with wine tasting and a cute store and places to sit. Then outside there are a ton more places to sit- there is a hostess stand where you can order wines and get an assigned table.We sat outside at a lovely table in the sunshine. There was live music by a really talented musician, tables of friends and families, kids enjoying their time too, and what looked to be tasty food (we didn't have any food). The wine was so good that we ended up checking a suitcase on the way home so it could come home with us. read more

What a beautiful winery! We stepped in and were greeted right away by a staff member who directed us on where to go for what we wanted (wine). The man tending bar was great! Super friendly and told us all about the wine we ordered. We decided to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine even though it was tiny bit chilly yesterday. It is a nice place and we will absolutely stop by again when we are down the shore. read more

History

Established in 1996.

Toby Craig and his family are no strangers to the Cape May area. After summering here all his life, Toby and his family moved here permanently in 1976. They bought the Washington Inn in 1978 and created one of South Jersey's finest dining establishments, which it remains today. Toby bought a small winery and vineyard. In 2003 he hired his very talented winemaker, Darren Hesington. Today with expanded crops, the new enlarged winery building and increased wine production, Cape May Winery has developed into one of New Jersey's premier wineries and visitors' destination.

Meet the Business Owner: Toby C.

Toby Craig and his family are no strangers to the Cape May area. After summering here all his life, Toby and his family moved here permanently in 1976. They have created some of Cape May's best attractions such as The Washington Inn, Lucky Bones Backwater Grill, and of course, The Cape May Winery.

She was very knowledgable and talked up each pour. The place is brand new - I could smell it. And everything about the ambiance was very nice. There is a tasting area outdoors we stayed inside. It was moderately crowded but Karen never lost it and took care of us we were 5 and a couple of other groups were also present. We bought an Albariño. The sparkling wine at the end of the tasting was good. I still think south Jersey wines are overpriced but they are getting there. A nice experience. Nancy & Mark.

It was not clear on the website when making reservations that the menus posted were not for the igloos. Even items we asked about on the menus provided were not available (menu said available until 3 pm in igloo, it was 200 but still told no- yet we also couldn't get the steak or rockfish in the igloo. As well, previous igloo visit options provided fondue for 2 (not 5!) and could be altered for one meat and one seafood eater however this time we would've had to at $240 to get both. At minimum $120+$10-$12 extra to add one skewer. Although the ambiance is an "experience" it was not a satisfying culinary experience. As well, it was not clear we couldn't divide our checks up amongst each couple as most all restaurants can do. (Can only do 2 checks, we had 3 couples) It was more cumbersome on the waitress and us than just charging each couple one bill, we weren't sharing food or said put half this on each etc. it was clearly just 3 couples. As for what we did get... if crab dip hadn't had a shell in it I wouldn't have believed it had any crab in it, just cheese flavor. Steak skewer was well done (no choice given) yet veggies were aldente (to say the least). Wine was good but limited selection. I really don't understand why I can eat one think inside yet can't 20' away we would've had a much better experience if some accommodating had been offered on any of the above issues.

Very young vineyard and the wines tasted immature. Please offer other wineries as part of the tour package and eliminate Willow Creek.

Wine slushies are my new favorite drink…read more Fellow Yelper Dee M and I headed over to Natali for "Wine Down Wednesday", an event they hold every week during the summer season. This no-admission-fee event offers food for purchase from a local caterer, wine and my beloved wine slushies. There was a young man singing and playing guitar. They also have their tasting room and store open for purchases. The location is lovely, rustic but comfortable, they've built a lovely building and covered porch. There were patio tables and chairs both under cover and out along the vineyard. We stopped first at the local catering tent. I got the pasta salad, which was delicious. Nice, firm pasta with a lovely dressing and fresh, crisp veggies. Very nice on a warm evening. Then to the slushies - which were all kinds of yum, kind of like a berry pina colada, very tropical. There were people milling about, we joined another group at a large table, a group of ladies, very nice. All in all, a pleasant evening. We decided we'd definitely come again next year. The also offer free self guided tours of their vineyards. Why only three stars? When I arrived with my friend on a Thursday early afternoon there was only one frazzled employee helping everyone. At the time there were only two tables sitting (6 people total) and the two of us. We noticed everyone sitting were doing tastings so we decided to ask if we could also take a seat. The woman was hesitant to let us sit but did. I really wish wineries would offer bar stools so you don't have to stand for your entire tasting. Since we were able to sit and relax we ordered a cheese and cracker platter. Very reasonably priced for the amount of food we received. After about 30 minutes there a huge crowd of people arrived. The one employee was completely overwhelmed. Finally an older gentleman came out to help her. Although the woman helping us was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wine the fact that she was spread so thin made it tough to get any personalized attention here. Hopefully they have more help at peak times.

Lemme put on Nat King Cole and set the nav to Jessie Creek Winery. Pulling up, its a little mysterious. It doesn't look like a conventional vineyard but more like a place to buy John Deere apparel. Once inside, I can see the place is jumping. There is a lounge singer in the main area and art sales in the room to the left. To me, the concept is a little off. Look at the board, buy your glass or bottle and have a seat. I mean, isn't the purpose of a vineyard to offer all of their wines for tasting? You might have 3 red wines, I might like the Pino more over the cabernet. People usually buy a case for a holiday party and want to taste what they'll be serving. Hey, I'm not going to figure out their business plan. I'm just here to have a glass of wine and relax. My wife has a glass of wine in her hand and is listening to the lounger singer. The bowling is pretty cool because you can order food from the restaurant right from the bowling kiosk. It's cool that you can munch on food in between turns in bowling. The pricing for bowling is pretty competitive too. There is a time limit on bowling but the staff is pretty cool, if you are close to finishing; a lot of times they'll extend the time a little to let you finish the game. I don't spend too much time in the arcade but it is nice that they have a good variety of games. They're real games too, not just full of claw machines and coin pushers like most places nowadays. There are actual video games and pinball machines. The bar and restaurant are pretty nice. The food is actually pretty decent. I love their pizza and appetizers. It's a great place to watch a sporting event as well. Oftentimes they'll have specials running for when Philadelphia teams are playing in the restaurant. They also have the games playing on the screens above the bowling lanes. So you can keep up to date and bowl at the same time. I have yet to try the pool tables, but the rest of the establishment is well run, so I really have no reason to think otherwise in this department. Another thing that's cool about Cape Square is that they run quite a few events. They have Magic The Gathering in their party room (which you can rent for events by the way), name that tune nights in the restaurant, and bowling theme nights just to name a few. They do a good job in keeping things fresh and interesting there. At this point, it's basically a community hangout spot now. Best of all, they are open year round every single day. I know that doesn't sound like a big deal to some, but that's huge in a seasonal area where things can get boring after the summer has passed. I have lived in the area for about 7 years now and let me tell you this establishment is so badly needed here. It's a very well run and well kept place. I highly recommend visiting this place if you are ever bored or hungry. It's a good place to spend an afternoon or evening.

We were in the giant theater and the two workers who went inside to clean the theater pushed all the trash and popcorn under the seats. Some seats were covered in soda too... The theater also charged my family a credit card surcharge fee for using a debit card which is illegal... Overall, watching experience is good. Just the service and cleanliness is bad here.
