Had a wonderfully relaxing time at Willow Creek Winery while visiting in late May! The have many options for indoor and outdoor seating on their expansive and beautiful property. It was a nice late spring afternoon when we went so we opted for outside under their covered patio area. Our server was so knowledgeable, fun, and really made the experience that much better! He allowed us to unwind and enjoy the space and gave us lots of interesting information about the winery and its history. Including how they names their bottles which was a neat detail to take home to share (as we got a few bottles for souvenirs). We opted for tastings of their sangria (so cool they have a few options of these) and a flight of their other wines which were all great but our favorites were their summer sangria (with peach) and their sparkling white wine. We also got a few bites to eat as well. The food paired well with our wines and we left full, happy, and with wines to take home for all! Highly recommend Willow Creek if you are in the Cape May area. You will not be disappointed!!! Also they sell their farm fresh eggs so you can get those too! read more

If you are planning a wedding here, think twice. It is very difficult to connect with staff or to receive a call back. We were getting a bit nervous the week of the wedding because of the lack of communication, so we took a ride to Willow Creek only to find they had the wedding booked for that Saturday (wedding was on Friday). Their bridal suite is a bit far from the venue, so you need to figure out transportation, all for the low price of $750 for a few hours. Also, there is only one parking spot available per bridal suite. The bride requested white wine but was told she could only have red. I never did receive an answer why that I understood. The service after the wedding ceremony was mostly non existent with guests getting their own drinks at the bar and the bride serving her own wedding. When we asked the bartender how he knew whose drinks went on our bill he said 'if you were dressed up and looked like you were at the wedding, I put it on your bill'. It was a small wedding of 20 people, with drinks and a few charcuterie boards the bill came to almost $4k. read more

After spending the day at the zoo with my kids, it was time for the parents to have a well-earned treat and Willow Creek was the perfect spot. To my surprise this is actually a place I enjoyed with kids! They had a kids' menu, gorgeous vineyard views, and live music that had me singing along without even thinking about it. My husband and I each ordered the deviled crab cake sandwich, and it was delicious meaty, full of flavor! We also got two sangria whips one guava pear and the other blueberry pomegranate. Both things I was very excited to order and it did not disappoint! We ended with a sweet wine flight that was smooth and easy to enjoy. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We were seated outside with our dog at a pet-friendly table. Our server left without telling us she was leaving and never let us know that someone else would be taking over, leaving us waiting and unsure of what was happening. The restaurant had 30-40 empty tables available, yet another guest with a dog was seated right next to us. Our dog became very reactive, and with so many open tables, this situation could have easily been avoided. We ordered a bottle of wine, which was fine, and planned to order additional food. We started with the pretzel, which was stale. Between the service issues, the seating situation, and the food quality, we ultimately decided to leave before ordering anything else. Pairing it with one of their cheese platters is always a great choice. Even the French baguette with olive oil is delicious. I try to visit whenever I can because it feels like such a calming escape. One thing to keep in mind is that they host a lot of weddings and private events, so it is smart to check their Instagram before you go to confirm their hours. The staff here are also very friendly. On one visit, they were already closing up, but they still let me place a takeout order, which I really appreciated. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful first experience at the winery. We (obviously) made the trip for the amazing looking whips we saw all of last summer on their social media. They did not disappoint! We had the mango whip with white sangria and the pomegranate whip with red sangria. They are about $17 each but well worth it on a warm sunny afternoon! We also got a wine flight. The wines were very easy to drink and definitely sweet but they note that in the description. The bubbly rose was very refreshing. Ask for him if you come to the winery. We had a sangria flight and the Wilde Cock flight with the bubbly, blackberry merlot and the blush. The wine was good and the outdoor area was beautiful on a nice sunny fall day! Our check-in experience really detracted from the experience though. (Reservations highly recommended on weekends.) We were in the Cape May area nearby and decided to stop in for a flight. When we arrived, the patio was pretty busy but not entirely full. Several other groups arrived right behind us, so there was a line. The hostess seemed extremely frazzled and unorganized. We stood for about 5 to 10 minutes as several workers tried to figure out where they could seat us outside, despite being a party of two and there being several open tables. Then the hostess started completely ignoring us and asking for parties with a reservation, which would've been understandable had she communicated that to us at all. A simple apology or a "let me get take care of the reservations first, and then I'll be right with you" goes a long way. The other young (teenage-early 20s) workers also seemed almost afraid of the hostess, like they were trying to stay out of her way while also not helping at all. However, once we are finally sat 10 minutes later, our server was friendly, and we enjoyed our flights. Moral of the story: definitely make a reservation before you come. read more

Really disappointing experience. Our group clearly asked the server to apply part of the cash left on the table toward the bill and charge the remaining balance to card, while still leaving him a generous tip. Instead, the cash was apparently treated entirely as gratuity, resulting in nearly a 40% tip and the full bill still charged to the card. The bigger issue was management's response afterward -- completely dismissive, defensive, and unwilling to take accountability for what was clearly a staff miscommunication. We were left with an overcharged bill +$300 and unwillingness to make things right. Very upsetting experience. read more

The grounds are beautiful... the food is mediocre and the staff (except for our server) are snotty. They were scheduled to close early yesterday (October 11) for a private event. We checked in at 12:25 for a 12:30 reservation. We were asked if we were going to have appetizers or order entrees. Because we said appetizers (and wine), they wanted us to go back out to the patio to eat. The tables on the patio are first come, first served and we said that we'd rather keep our reservation and dine inside. The heavy sigh and eye roll almost made us turn and leave, but we stayed. The food was luke warm and we were rushed through our meal. Busboys, other servers and the hostesses tried to take some of our plates/glasses before we finished. We were a party of seven - seated at 12:30 and out by 1:30. Instead of rushing the lunch crowd, they should have closed the place for the day. Making a buck is obviously more important than customer service to Willow Creek Winery and we will never go back. read more

My bf and I planned a trip to Cape May last year for our anniversary and one of the places on our list to try was Willow Creek Winery. We visited right around sunset which was beautiful! There is indoor and outdoor space so you can kick back, relax and enjoy your wine. There is a gift shop when you first walk in and seating. Outside there was more seating and a live band. Shortly after being seated, we were greeted by our waitress. We started off with a wine flight, a glass of sangria and a glass of their Dole whip sangria float which is seasonal so ask your server for the flavor of the day! At the time of visit, the flavor was passion fruit. The wine flight came out on a tree; I loved the presentation. We also ordered some small bites. For starters, the asiago bruschetta which was okay. The French baguette was extremely hard to bite into but after it sat with all the juices from the tomatoes, olive oil, herbs, etc. it softened up a bit. I thought it was quite tasty. For our entrees we ordered the smash burger and fish sandwich. The fries were crispy, we just didn't like our food which is okay. I think next time we'll just stick to wine and starters. A beautiful setting deep in the wilderness of Cape May. The place is huge. Huge enough to be a destination for weddings and other events. Which is great if you are looking for that. However, I'm not so sure how it works if you try to visit while a major event is going on. At least for the time I spent there, the place was quiet. Today's flavor was a choice of black cherry or pineapple. Well, why go for one when you can have both? It is an interesting combination that I would love to hate, but there is something deeply refreshing about it on a warm day in the sun. Now that I have experienced it, I think I can safely go back to being more of a purest in the future. The food menu is pretty extensive. The Bavarian Pretzel - served with sweet bavarian mustard - is actually outstanding. The Jersey Peach - arugula topped with preserved peaches, goat cheese, walnuts, and raspberry vinaigrette - could have been better. Way too many greens without enough dressing. For my taste I would have just cut back on the greens and kept the same amount of dressing. I did sample an off-menu Wilde Cock Blush Table Wine. It seemed to have notes that reminded me of a sherry without being so heavy. Paying the bill I ended up taking three bottles of that home as well since it was rather unique. My Negative experience is based on this wineries customer service. I brought a friend from Kentucky here on Thursday. We called on our to make sure they were open and asked if they had coffee available. The person on the phone said she didn't know If they had coffee. She said we would have to ask our server. We arrived at 4:30 ( They close at 6 PM). As we pulled up to a full parking lot, we received a phone call from the manager. She asked how close we were because they would like to "close early" if not busy. She was obviously disappointed we had already arrived. When we entered the building, the manager greeted us at the door. She said, "oh you must be the people from the phone"! We asked again if they had coffee and she said they did but they were out and said " We certainly aren't going to make a pot for one person"! What???? I grew up in the restaurant industry! My father owned a restaurant, and I worked there for half of my adult life. Where was the customer service? My friend out of town wanted to experience a beautiful winery....to drink a glass of wine and eat some food! I was the DD so I was not drinking. An hour and a half before closing and no coffee? I grew up in the restaurant industry. My father owned and operated a restaurant for most of my life. I couldn't imagine treating a customer this way!! A pot of coffee is an easy thing to make and it doesn't cost much money! My one cup of coffee would have covered the cost of the pot plus! and what about the 30 to 40 other customers that were still there? no coffee for them either I guess! It's sad that customer service is no longer as important as it should be. It was obvious that the manager Just wanted us to leave. There are so many beautiful wineries in this area! As a new resident to the cape May area, I have been waiting all winter long to try the wineries this summer. Willow Creek did not disappoint. I went on a Friday afternoon to enjoy their full dining menu. I ordered the fish sandwich which was delicious and crispy and paired well with the brioche bun. For an appetizer , I recommend the deviled eggs. They had a spicy bacon jam that had I loved so much I had to order deviled eggs to go and add extra spicy bacon jam. I enjoyed both the white and red sangria sole whips. The dole whip sangrias were the highlight of my night at the winery. They were delicious and I loved how it melted into the wine and made it taste so refreshing! The sangria wine flight was good and well worth it. I can't recall the flavors of the sangrias. I love love loved the vibe, food and drinks at this winery! My mom found this winery when another winery of the area was full. Willow Creek has tons of seating and accepts reservations. We were seated right away and the service was very quick. I had the dry red flight, which comes with three 3 oz pours of 3 different reds. They have lots of different flight combinations and you can also build your own. I loved all 3 wines, which doesn't always happen in a flight! I was super impressed with the quality of wine. To eat, we shared the cheese board and pretzel. The cheese board was some of the best cheese I have had in the US... so delish! You can pick 3 meats or cheeses with the option to add additional ones for $6 extra. We went with the truffle goat cheese (my fav!), brie, cheddar, and manchego. The board comes with a baguette, grapes, dates, nuts, olive oil, and olives. I would get this every time! The pretzel was also amazing. It is HUGE and definitely big enough to share. It is served warm, and comes with mustard. I liked topping it with the cheddar from the cheese board. This is definitely my new go-to winery down the shore! If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be actively unwanted at a business you made a reservation for, look no further than Willow Creek Winery in Cape May. We had a reservation at 1:15. By 1:17 (yes, TWO minutes late), they called to see "where we were" and basically implied they might not even take us. Spoiler: when we arrived, they had already given away our table. The excuse? "The kitchen closes at 1:15." Who on earth books reservations at the exact moment they shut down service? Genius move, Willow Creek. They sent us to the bar like lost children and said we could "sit wherever." We asked for their signature frozen sangria -- the drink they literally advertise -- and were told they "weren't serving it." Meanwhile, like a comedy sketch, servers walked right past us delivering frozen sangrias to other tables. I guess some guests are just more deserving than others? As we tried to choke down a glass of plain wine and salvage the afternoon, we got to enjoy the ambiance of teenage boys dragging tables around us like we were sitting in the middle of a moving company's training day. The manager? A shining beacon of rudeness, barking orders and dismantling the space around paying guests because -- wait for it -- they were setting up for a wedding. At FOUR. Newsflash: if you close at 4, maybe don't start tearing the place apart at 2 while people are still there trying to enjoy themselves. Even the bartender, bless him, whispered apologies and basically admitted it was ridiculous. When your own staff are talking trash about management to guests, you know the ship is sinking. So thank you, Willow Creek, for the masterclass in how to ruin a day trip. We came for wine and relaxation, but left with the kind of story you tell at parties when you want everyone to laugh about the WORST service imaginable. This was our first time here and we are looking forward to our next visit already! Stopped in during a weekday date as we were wrapping up some shopping to enjoy their dole whip sangria. I had the mango and cherry twist with their white sangria and hubby had the cherry with white sangria. Both were delicious but I think we both agreed that the twist with the white was our favorite. I'd imagine the cherry with red sangria would be great too! While enjoying our drinks we decided to put in an order for a cheese board.
