I bought a Rolex Pepsi Meteorite from Jonathan. The watch is in great condition and complete with box and papers. They listed it as mint and that was a small stretch. I am happy and it is a nice example. I paid up a little for it as I missed on from another dealer have done a lot with. What I learned buying this is that many dealers do not own the watches they show - not using actual images. Capetown has the inventory they show on the site and uses real images. If I had any complaint it is the follow up and replies were quite slow. I was ready to go. After the buy I asked about 2 other watches and got an email with an image a few days later. I asked for more images (like a complete set of them) and details and amazingly never got a reply on a 50k piece. They know I am a real buyer having just bought a watch in that price range from them. Ok, so I was looking for a Rolex sold 18k Gold 40mm Day Date President 228238 watch. This watch is hard to find; however, I found several dealers on eBay including Capetown Diamond Corp which appeared to have the best price. As this was going to be a $40,000+ purchase I did a good deal of homework upfront and all reviews came back at 5-star. Well I decided to pull the trigger, in faith, and wired Errol Guggenheim over $40,000 and now came the big test... were they going to deliver and was the Rolex going to be authentic? They received the wire and the SAME DAY they UPS'ed the watch to me, only to arrive the very next day... GREAT SERVICE!! Next... was the watch Authentic/REAL?? Well after some detailed analysis including the serial number, everything looked good. Now was the real test... the WEIGHT!! If it was a REAL Rolex, the hardest thing to 'fake' would be the the WEIGHT (of gold). CAVEAT: read about watch condition at the end of the review First pre-owned Rolex purchase, so I was hesitant about several things: authenticity, condition of watch, payment of such a large sum, reputation of dealer, not seeing the watch or business in person before ordering, etc. I decided to go with Capetown mainly because they did not charge sales tax for out of state shipment, which made their price the most competitive among all the dealers I could find. Luckily things worked out very well in my dealing with Capetown. Errol and Jonathan were both polite and straightforward over the phone. They explained the item and process clearly without trying to oversell anything. We agreed on a price and payment terms quickly. After receiving my wire, they shipped the watch overnight that day to arrive the next day. The watch was described/listed as "mint/flawless", but it was actually "very good" condition on arrival: - watch face is flawless - ceramic bezel is flawless - 3-4 scratches on the platinum triangle on the top of the bezel, which is only visible under close inspection and under the right light angle - two small nicks on the back of the watch case edge - some scratches near where the bracelet attaches to the watch case with spring bars (these could probably be polished out easily) - some of the phillips screw heads that attach the bracelet links have jagged edges to them, suggesting an incorrectly sized tool was used to force them to unscrew, but these are cheap to replace - bracelet and watch case were polished perfectly before arrival - movement functions fully, loses about 2 seconds per day So even though the condition wasn't exactly as described, this is a watch that was priced very competitively with other "very good" models on the market, and it's a watch I plan to wear, not collect, so I really don't mind the minor imperfections, and was sort of expecting some imperfections with the price anyway. If you are looking for an actual mint/flawless condition watch, I'd recommend inquiring further before making your purchase. But otherwise, I'd highly recommend Capetown for a watch you plan to wear. read more

Ordered a Rolex, 116244 $9740, wired the money. The ad clearly stated, and photos clearly showed it came with box and original warranty card - both were a big deal to me. Watch came quickly with box. I got all kinds of run around on the warranty card, although they never denied that it was part of the deal. Got a "xerox copy" that doesn't show any signs of being real, nor does it even include the serial number. My problem is if they will lie about the little things like the warranty card, is the watch even real? Below I posted what I expected and what I actually got for a warranty card. You tell me, is the card is fake? I sure think it is. So now I wonder about the watch. I didn't haggle on the price, I just wanted what I ordered. Very disappointed. UPDATE 7/10/21 : The review has moved up to 3 stars and may get even better. I've been told I will receive a xerox copy of the other side of the warranty card after the weekend. I was also told they would take care of the bill for a inspection of the watch by the locate Rolex Boutique as well as a service cleaning when needed in 3-4 years. So if these things happen I will update this review again and expect to bring it up to 5 stars. UPDATE 7/11/21: The review is back to original 1 star. Haven't heard back from the owner with his promise of the xerox copy of the other side of the warranty card I suspect is fake. Some of the worst customer service I've ever received, especially from a "high-end" jewelry/watch store. This store is not worth your time or money, especially if you are buying online. I will try to keep this review respectful. I put in an online special order on a Rolex Oyster Perpetual from them on 11/30/2020 - after wiring them $5K, they sat on my cash with no update on the special order after over 6-7 weeks. I was forced to call and ask them myself, and they kept saying, "let me call my inventory guy," and "we are waiting on an update from the dealer. Rolex always has delays and there are no guarantees." That's fine - I understand that's how Rolex inventory may go at times, but this isn't my first Rolex. The lack of communication and professionalism, especially with their customers' cash, is beyond me - you need to tell me these things immediately and not force a customer to wait 6 weeks before any communication, which you didn't even initiate. I did. I called multiple days in a row afterwards, and they kept saying they will give me an update "tomorrow." The next day I hear nothing back, and was forced to call them myself - this happened over a span of a week. Then they offered me different watches that the dealer had - if I wanted those watches, I would have ordered them. I would like the watch that I specifically chose. Janice kept saying, "we are at the mercy of other people telling us information." What a lack of accountability - if customers are waiting, you need to take initiative and communicate with customers before they need to reach out. I hope they treat their in-person customers better, because an online order with Capetown is a waste of time and effort. I interacted with Janice and I believe Jonathan throughout this process. Janice's customer service was the worst by far with a lack of accountability. I could have used this cash for another purchase. They said they had a COVID issue the past two weeks - my condolences.
