I stopped in this place almost a year ago while visiting Boise. I didn't remember being at the…read morehotel nearby before but I remembered how to get here because of my great experience in the past. I showed up at Happy Hour and now that's 50% off drinks priced $15 and below. The old fashioned is perfect. I also ordered the bacon wrapped jalapeño shrimp. Delectable! Matthew provided excellent service at the bar. I invited some folks and we were in Olivia's section. Perfect service. Beautiful. Knowledgeable. Fun. We had the enquires and device. Delicious. Portions were huge. Many different options of plates that were on the Happy Hour Menu. We also had the Red Velvet Church's. So airy. So light. Compliments to the chef. The decor is authentic and had mood lighting. Enjoyed everything about it 5 star service and food.

I was excited to dine here (first visit), but was disappointed in the food and drinks…read more Walking in, the decor is beautiful and dramatic. Full bar, large booths. It's very inviting, if not decadent feeling. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were lacking. My mocktail was recommended by our server, but it was much too sweet, and had a weird aftertaste. We ordered chips, guac, and it came with two versions of salsa. One was incredibly bitter (tasted very vinegar-y), while the other just tasted strange. Neither me or my husband like it. The guac, however, was very good. We ordered the Seafood Ceviche, which is a dish we usually love, but not so much here! It was covered in an orange sauce that was overly acidic. It was so much and so acidic, we couldn't taste the seafood. It was lost in the sauce. It seems as though whoever's in the kitchen lacks some culinary intuition. The staff were good. It'a dimly lit, even during the day, for those with sight issues.

Came in for happy hour with my co workers tonight. You can't go wrong with great happy hour drinks…read moreand nachos. With my new kidney, I had to get my own sides since I can't really share food with my friends. I got some chicken tortilla soup and some brussel sprouts. The nachos did look amazing but I knew it we going to be too much food for me. Soup was full of chicken, corn and tortillas. The broth was rich and savory. It could have been a tad warmer but it was still delicious. My brussel sprouts were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. I love the sweet and savory glaze that we used! Every bite was delicious. Service was great tonight. Our server did a great job making sure our drinks were never dry. The atmosphere here is always on point. The food was fantastic as always. I look forward to coming back for another round of happy hour soon!

MATADOR DELETED MULTIPLE OF MY FRIENDS ONE STAR GOOGLE REVIEWS ABOUT OUR EXPERIENCE THERE SO IM…read moreADDING MY REVIEW TO THEIR YELP AS WELL. Such weird and potentially homophobic behavior from the waitstaff here last night. (My best friend i was with and her fiance are lesbians so i am not sure whether or not the staff's behavior had to do with that or if they are just normally this rude) Walked in with a group of friends for one of their birthdays just trying to find a place for a nice dinner. According to the waitlist we were supposed to be seated fairly quickly (within 10 minutes we were told) but we ended up waiting for about a total of 30 minutes. We waited patiently outside for about 20 and then decided to step inside to see what was going on. Waitstaff had about 4 tables that they were dealing with but there was honestly probably more servers than active tables in the restaurant, there was a NUMBER of open tables while we stood at the front confused since we were the ONLY people waiting. Not a glance from any of the servers, not a "have you been helped yet?" nothing. We continued to stand there as 3 servers bussed ONE table together which was just so completely bizarre and they clearly were trying to avoid acknowledging our presence. As a server herself, one of my friends was just completely confused as to how multiple servers came up to where we were standing to use the POS system and then walk off without saying a word to us. When my friend inquired with the waitstaff about why we hadn't been seated yet, she rudely said "YOURE ON THE WAITLIST SO YOU NEED TO WAIT". We went to the funky taco next door, who had us greeted & seated immediately. The Matador will never have our business and we certainly wont be recommending them to anyone, ever. FYI Matador, this seems like an ongoing issue for you with your hosts and servers being miserable people after looking at your one star reviews so you might want to do the same and do something about it before you continue losing out on business.

This is one of the finest Dives in Boise. Stiff drinks, great atmosphere and an awesome smokers…read morepatio. I don't smoke but the vibe and conversations out there priceless. Jack is always in a great mood and keeps everyone topped off and laughing. The other bartenders are great as well. Sometimes there are a few oddballs (guests) but that's part of the allure. No food to speak of but there's always a great tap list. Not sure if the pool table is still up and running (Fuck you COVID-19) but there is usually one. edit: there are dart boards now where the pool table used to be.

If you're from California, Oregon, Washington, Texas, this bar is probably the most overrated place…read morein downtown Boise. I promise you if you saved your money and went to other places like the Mode lounge and little Pearl you're way better off. This place does not deserve your money I'm new to the area and was drawn to this bar because of its strong social media presence. I made a point to stop in after work on a Monday because I was genuinely interested in checking it out. When I walked in, the bartender acknowledged me, took my order, and served my drink promptly. Unfortunately, that's where the service essentially ended. The bartender seemed far more interested in chatting with a group of fellow industry friends about local gossip than engaging with customers. I mentioned that I was new to the area and that it was my first time visiting, but there didn't seem to be any interest in continuing the conversation or making me feel welcome. It left a pretty poor first impression. I had actually been looking forward to potentially making this a regular stop and bringing friends with me, but based on this experience I'm not likely to return. To top it off, I wasn't even acknowledged when I left, which made it feel like new customers simply aren't a priority here. That's disappointing, because I had hoped to find a new local spot to support.

We've been here dozens of times, always good, but not last night…read more I ordered the Carnitas with Mole, I've had the regular carnitas many times so I figured adding mole would just make them better. What I got was a lump of overcooked, dry, unsliced, unseasoned pork roast with the mole poured over at the table. I spent the first five minutes just trying ti cut and tear the pork baseball apart and stirring it in the mole. I kept picturing Chef Ramsey taking a bite, spitting it back on the plate and flagging down the waiter,. "This is disgusting!" You know meat is dry when you must drink something because it keeps getting stuck on the way down! What I should have received was seasoned carnitas that spent at least some time with the sauce in the pan. I had to stop it was so bad! If it hadn't bern Valentines Day weekend, and if we hadn't already waited an hour to eat because it was busy, I'd have asked the waiter for something else. When the waiter came to check and asked, I was honest, he apologized and offered to have them prepare something else, but by this point I was just ready to leave. The Manager came, apologized and took my dinner off the bill, the right thing to do. We used to live in Kuna, but now it's at least an hour drive round trip, so I doubt we'll be back. Maybe if we are meeting friends/family in Kuna, but just us, I don't think so. Time to find good Mexican closer to downtown Boise!
