I was so excited about this restaurant, as i used to eat at the one in nampa all the time when i was little. Sadly, both the food and service were a disappointment. This particular day, the restaurant was slow. Maybe 7 tables I total and at least 2 servers and a manager on duty. Waited a while to be sat, and finally decided to sit in the bar, didn't get any service for about 7 minutes, decided to move up to the physical bar and was finally noticed. Our drinks were brought out quickly and our orders taken I a timely manner. But when we asked for more beans and salsa, no one brought us any for another 10-15 minutes. Finally received our food, tacos el pastor and chiles verdes, and was very disappointed. The salsa verde was super tangy, and tasted like they forgot the salt, the taco meat had zero flavor, and the rice was dry. The only good thing on my plate was the refried beans. Salsa is store bought (they used to serve one of the best salsa) and tortilla chips are awkward, many of the beef menu has been substituted for pork (since it's cheaper). We came to El Tenampa to celebrate a couple of birthdays. I had been to the El Tenampa in Meridian on Main Street and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the same enjoyable experience we came to this restaurant. I'm sorry to say we were very disappointed. The food was was disappointing. There was A LOT of refried beans and rice. The enchiladas were very small and the verde sauce was forgotten. The fajitas were lukewarm and plenty of peppers and onions but little meat. The service was poor. When we asked questions about the menu, the server didn't know the answer and just told us to read the menu. When my daughter asked politely for the cheese she had ordered the server said to give her a break and wait a minute. My food arrived last and the rest of my party was half finished with their meal. The ambiance was that of a rowdy bar!! All you could hear was people talking. If there was music you couldn't hear it. The server said they were short-handed and nobody wanted to work. We ordered a bloody Mary and Michelada from the bar. Bloody mary was typical...yet lacking and I actually really enjoyed the michelada, it may be on the sour side for some but I'd for sure order again. My husband had the Macho burrito with beef. It was fair, again seasoning seemed a bit strong and salty. I had my go to camarones a la diabla which was a little runny and super spicy. I could hardly taste anything due to the fact of my taste buds being burnt off with each bite. The corn tortillas really did taste fresh and that was a good surprise. Bottom line....I would eat here again if in a pinch or to give it a second shot. Not my favorite however it may be someone's. For 2 drinks, appetizer and 2 entrees we paid $60.00.
