We had wanted to sit on the rooftop to enjoy the views but it wasn't opening until 4PM so we didn't get to experience that. The clam chowder was on special so I ordered that to start with some peel and eat shrimp, cold- you can get them hot or cold and they were perfectly done and the cocktail sauce wasn't so strong that it overpowered the shrimp which was appreciated. My husband and I shared the trout basket and they were very lightly breaded, not greasy at all and well seasoned. My son ordered a cheeseburger and raved about it so much that he told our waitress on the way out that it was 5-star worthy. Note: he orders burgers everywhere we go so I trust his judgement . It was cooked how he asked- medium rare- and was thick and juicy to top it off. If you're looking for a spot with friendly service and delicious food- it's a must try in Sutton's Bay.

A very busy place, we were lucky we didn't have to wait long for a table. We wanted to sit on the roof patio, which is very popular, since there are views of the lake and the bustling street below. But be aware, there is no elevator, just lots of stairs. Worth it if you can manage it. Tables were clean and service was friendly and fairly prompt. I ordered the namesake "Boone's Burger," with chips, the default side. Hubby ordered the whitefish sandwich with a side of fries. Our son, knowing I don't usually finish my food, ordered soup, intending to finish my order, which he did, as well as his dad's, lol. Smart kid. He ordered the clam chowder, which he liked. I loved my burger, though it only came with one small leaf of romaine lettuce and one small slice of tomato, and three nice pickle slices. No mayo, so I used some of my hubby's tartar sauce, since it tasted like mayo and relish. But we did ask for more tomatoes, which our server brought quickly. The chips were a decent kettle chip, so I was happy. My medium burger was excellent! Quarter pound and cooked perfectly. I loved it. Hubby, on the other hand, wasn't really happy with his sandwich. Although the whitefish was freshly caught, he said it was dry. It was fried, so not sure how that even happened. He wasn't unhappy enough to complain, but he didn't finish it, and he usually finishes a sandwich. I'm sure they would have replaced it if he had said something, it is that kind of place. If you can get a table it is a fun place to grab a bite, especially if you can get a seat on the roof. Parking is a bit of a challenge, so drop off your party first. I highly recommend the burgers!

I checked yelp and saw mixed reviews- I totally get it now. We sat on the back patio which was quiet and shady. The outdoor bar looked like a great spot to have a beer outside in the shade and my Dad said he probably will stop there again to do that in the fall. The food was incredibly hit or miss. Cherry burger: my husband said "as long as it isn't a burger with three sad cherries on it I bet it will be great". It was a burger with three sad cherries on it! He appreciated that they cooked it properly but was underwhelmed and agreed it was not what he expects from a $22 burger- even in a tourist town. Jambalaya: My Dad loved this even though he said it was too much rice. There were 3 large shrimp and some sausage in it as well. He is truly picky and would order again. Kids noodles: bow ties, good portion. My son loved them. Kids chicken: unusually heavy breading which was borderline burned in the frier on top of tough chicken. I had to peel the breading off for him to eat any of it. Walleye and Morels: the walleye was GREAT. Lightly breaded, moist and flakey. The morel sauce was a miss. Not much flavor and the morels- though quite a few- just weren't that good. Not the best $35 meal I have had by a long shot. The wild grains were all sage and the veggies were extra oily- seems like a seasoning issue more than anything on that plate. Overall I would go back and might even order the walleye again with the sauce on the side and see if I can sub the sides. I also had the lobster bisque and would order that again (but I would ask for bread). May the ordering and seasoning odds be in your favor!

We had to make a reservation for a Friday night on Memorial Day weekend. Service was excellent. The bar seating never filled up so that's your best chance if you didn't make a reservation! Consistently so delicious and creative. I also like that they let us share (and gave two plates for us both). It was busy and they gave us a seat on the back porch after 20 min or so without previous reservations. We couldn't reach them by phone; so just went in person. Their soups are my favorite thing. I'd bathe in it. This time was celery root and 5 years ago was parsnip. They have the same base of garlic, onion, cream puréed and just know how to do it. Excellent service each time too! My husband loved the SALAD (which he had never said in his life before) as well as the wagyu steak dish and Butterscotch mousse w/ short bread cookie that was best we have ever had (the chefs step dads recipe). After that they gave an extra little snacky of peanut brittle and pop rock orange like candy. The kimchi fritters were my other favorite dish of the night. Very happy cool place.
