Our daughter LOVED this year's summer camp. I really appreciated their week by week registry. We all know summer is crazy and it was helpful to be able to book this week, maybe not next week or in a pinch I could add a day or two during the week. Life changing. The camp was so organized, the updates were helpful and the counselors and organizers were just the best! This review is for the Lil Ninja program. I signed up for a trial class after finding out they do afterschool pickup from the elementary schools nearby. Thought it might be a good option for us, so wanted to check it out. After checking in, they said the coach would be out soon and showed us where to line up. When the time came, the kids lined up and were called in, but the ninja coach never came to introduce herself, which was disappointing. After a group stretching session, they split off into their own programs. At the ninja station, there just was not much going on. I was bored just watching them repeat the same few things over and over again. The instructor was bored too as she was yawning nonstop. At one point she was literally just sitting there while the kids kind of did free play on their own. I'm not sure if they do different things each class or if it's the same but this looks like it would get boring after 3-4 sessions. Once it was over, the coach did still did not come meet nor was there any follow up on whether we want to sign up or share thoughts. For me, this program was missing a few key things I expect - safety, inclusion, and real opportunities for growth, confidence, and community. The instructor barely paid attention, the activities felt unstructured, and there was no sense of connection or purpose. So basically it's just a really expensive option to have someone unenthusiastically watch your kid for one hour. The gymnastics side looked more active and organized, so maybe that is their main focus and the ninja program is just an add-on. Either way, I was really disappointed with the Lil ninja program. Also, the facility itself felt kind of dingy. The vending machine was broken and the space did not seem super clean or well kept. Would not recommend Lil ninja based on what I saw. read more

Another week of summer... another camp! This time it is camp at Capital Gymnastics. Not the least expensive option but certainly not as much as some for a week. Here they get to go places! Yesterday they went to Dart'em Up, today they are going to a movement gym and the park, Thursday to a ranch... and so on. My son LOVES IT! He is 9 and was actually upset when I told him he didn't have camp on the 4th of July! Not only do they get to go places but they also get to experience gymnastics... what kid doesn't like jumping, flipping, rolling around, etc?! The facilities are top notch, the people are more then friendly, and they offer an extended day program where I can drop him off at 7:30am and pick him up at 6pm. For us it is very conveniently located just a mile away from our house and across the road from my sons School... score one for the parents! My boy is loving it... what more could I really want?! read more

It makes me sad to write this review. A couple months ago it would have been 5 stars for the welcoming atmosphere and high quality coaches. Unfortunately Capital has been purchased by a large national corporate entity that is more or less soulless. You won't find this information anywhere on their website, which still lists the original family as the owners (they haven't been for over a year). Unfortunately the atmosphere here has gone from friendly and positive to secretive and stressful. The best coaches have either been fired or are leaving. Equipment that is necessary to train gymnastics has been removed and replaced with substandard items, so that they can fit an absolutely gigantic Ninja course in the gym. And through all of this there has been ZERO communication with parents as to what is going on and what we can expect moving forward. Management dodges calls and emails, and the actual corporate execs literally won't allow their contact information to be given out - not sure what that's all about but I'm not accustomed to paying for a service and having no way to communicate with the providers of said service. If you are looking for a place for your child to have fun and learn gymnastics, I'd move on as the coaches are stressed and no one knows what will change from day to day. If you're looking for a place for your child to have fun doing ninja style training I'd also move on. There are several great options along those lines in this area, run by human beings that are passionate on the subject rather than a faceless businessperson out there somewhere that is no doubt using an algorithm to decide what's hot day to day. Again, this is really sad. Especially for the corporation that could have had us, and the rest of the kids that were here for gymnastics, on the hook for the next ten years of classes but decided that they'd rather have to completely rebuild their customer base from scratch to chase the (likely waning) ninja trend. My daughter has been in Coach Karson's Girls III class for about eight months and she thinks he is awesome. "Funny, nice, helpful, GREAT at his job and will not push you to do something that you don't feel ready for." We have been really enjoying getting to work with him at gymnastics. read more

Echo what some others say.... Classes are fine, some socializing and exercise for the kids but zero maintenance of the facility. Floors are filthy. Both water fountains are out of order. The water bottle vending machine is sold out. Told the ladies at the front desk the bathroom was out of toilet paper. She said she'd check it but still hasn't. The whole place smells like a high school locker room. I think they take their students for granted. They can get away with it because there is no one else in town. If they had ANY competition whatsoever I think they would go out of business quickly. read more

My child had a trial class here it was a horrible experience. We registered and checked-in and were told a coach would greet the kids once it was class time. No coach came to greet the class but I flagged a coach down to make sure they knew my son was new. They put him in line with the other students doing warm ups and didn't explain to him what he was supposed to be doing. He jumped down a trampoline following the other kids and got a bit lost trying to figure out what to do next and was yelled at by another coach to get off of a mat. My son, who didn't know any better, burst into tears. He had been looking forward to this class for weeks and one poor interaction ruined his whole experience. I'm disappointed this coach was completely unaware that my child was new. It begs the question whether the coaches here are even aware who comes in to their class each week. I spoke to the management and she laughed it off saying would speak to the coach that treated my son poorly. I told her I hope she does. Do better Capital Gymnastics, our kid's feelings matter. A nice gym and waiting area is meaningless if you treat kids like garbage. We won't ever be back, my kid is heartbroken and traumatized by the whole thing, cried the whole way home. Such a disappointing welcome. Do not recommend. read more

I have experienced Capitol Gymnastics before from having my daughter involved in some of their summer kids camps. These are good healthy choices and learning opportunities for kids of all ages. Then i found out recently that they started having FREE P90X workouts on Mondays. I started the full blown P90X workouts a few weeks ago at home so i got real excited to try them out in a group setting. Its sooo much more motivational doing the workouts in a group environment and so much more fun. At the end of the workouts they had FREE Beachbody supplement samples such as protein bars, recovery drinks and my first introduction to Shakeology which sounds and tastes really cool. So thanks to the staff over at Capitol Gymnastics for the cool new program. read more

My daughter loves Capital! Just like with everything you have your children try there are gonna be ups and downs. Yes a big downer is this place does change coaches pretty often, but I also understand that is part of life... people move on, maybe they weren't that good of a coach to begin with... I'm not sure what people expect from a gymnastics place, it looks clean, the coaches are pleasant to everyone, kids look like they are having fun. If I thought my daughter could handle it, I would sign her up for more than one day a week... The only reason this place gets 4 stars instead of 5 is... there after school program... I have tried for two years to get her in, and no room... wait list after wait list..this is where they have a lack of communication between office and parents. However, by watching all the classes and Happy kids I can see why there is a wait! read more

Highly recommend! My daughter, age 4, has been taking classes here for several months and we have looked forward to coming every single week. The coaches (Masey!) and Director (Caitlin!) are so personable and the kids love them. My daughter is really shy and I have enjoyed watching her come out of her shell here. I was there solely as a visitor, but I wasn't impressed. About 13 years ago or so my daughter went to Capital when it was on I-35, and we loved it. It was huge, and idk what we paid, but it wasn't $70 (which is what the member we went with is paying). Do they have lots of gym equip, absolutely! Nice, clean, smells normal & not musty. Lots of options, I suppose, but it's scaled down in size. They had a "performance" recently & IMO as a guest, it was a cluster*uck. Parking isn't plentiful & these ppl don't know HOW to street park! You could fit 74 cars in between these fools. So you walk a 1/2 a mile to park. Fine, I can use the exercise. But it was overly packed. They had a ton of different ages & levels all performing routines @ various "stations" & it was just too much happening @ one time. The members child loves it, but 4 hours a month @ $68, and $78 if you don't pay on the 1st.. From what I've heard & now seen, I wouldn't join. read more

My daughter was enrolled for for several months and things were going well. Accommodations were pleasant and the staff for the most part were well to deal with. If there were any changes in practice dates or changing from 2 times a week to 1 it was not communicated across all platforms. AS an example, I was billed 2 months in a row for a rate of 2 times a week when the change was made to 1 week. When you call and complain, the person on the phone sounds lost. Asking you to hold and passing the phone from one person to another. Eventually finding they are in the wrong and then fix the situation. Lately the daughter's coach was replaced with the owner. I waited a while to see if this was a temporary thing and it ended up not being so. The owner continued to not be able to attend to all the children and only focused on a very few kids. Confronting the issue seems to be worthless and nothing was corrected. So I call to request a withdraw of my child and immediately the person on the phones attitude change. Their response was "you need to come in and fill out a form." Today my wife took our daughter and now the story has changed to we need a 30 day notice. Why does it seem that we are being penalized for pulling our child out. read more

Used to be much better. My granddaughter went here for 2 and 1/2 years. Eventually it got extremely crowded and extremely expensive. I felt she wasn't learning enough for the amount of time she was there, not to mention what I was paying. There are some REALLY bitchy staff members there, too. I'm sure they are frazzled with being so crowded, but they definitely need to hire some more teachers, and maybe have a training class on being more polite to customers. We switched to another gym nearby and are very glad for it. read more

This is a very nice gym. It has a large parking lot which comes in handy during the busier afternoon hours. My daughter started gymnastics here a few years back. The coaches have been great for her. She really has enjoyed her time here. If your child wants to continue to grow with gymnastics they offer a team as well. It is a family run business, so there is a personal touch. Gymnastics is a wonderful way for kids to get and stay in shape. I highly recommend this for any child. Much better than sitting around the house and watching tv or playing on the cell phone. They offer a trial class if you are curious to see what it is all about. At least they use to. It truly is a great way for kids to move around and get some exercise while having a lot of fun. read more

My grand daughter just started her classes here and we are in love with this place!! The staff is AMAZING, very professional and knowledgeable. Would not recommend. My daughter has gone here for quite a while and never advances. She doesn't get challenged in class- it all seems very easy to her but the gym only lets their *favorite* students have invitation to the next class up, not by ability. Since my daughter is not a *favorite*, her ability means nothing. Our friend had his daughter enrolled here too and he took her out after 2 months because he felt like she didn't even do anything during the class. Their schedules online are inaccurate as well. Even if your child fits the age requirement if they don't favor your kid they will claim your kid can't move up until a coach signs off for it and states their website is wrong, even if it says beginner class. Very disappointed and feel like my daughter would have been much further ahead if the coaches cared about each student the same. Spare yourself and your child by not wasting your time here! read more

i took my son for a trial this week and he wasn't very cooperative in class as he's very shy. we were walking out the door when a very nice coach stopped us and started talking to my son and gained his trust and convinced him to try again. my son went back in to class and loved it. he won't stop talking about it and telling everyone what he's able to do. we went int for a second trial and everything was great. we're going to start going twice per week. read more

My child takes gymnastics classes here and we are really happy with the experience we've had. The classes teach real gymnastics skills and are engaging for the age level of the children. My child's teacher, Kelly, is amazing and very patient. She knows how to use the childrens' imaginations to get them to do things like stretches, and she makes very creative routines for them! I'm also pleased with the customer service; at one point we got a bill in the mail that we had already paid, and when I contacted the front desk about it, they immediately corrected the problem. If you use the monthly payment option, remember to call and bill your card BY THE FIRST of the month, or your classes are more expensive. We looked into several gymnastics options, and found that Capitol offered the best price as well as a quality experience. The only problem I have had is that at times the gym does get humid. read more

B-day party for a 6 year old. It was so fun. The kids had a great time and kept busy the whole time. It was well supervised and the kids wished they could play longer. Time even flew by for me. We've been going to Capital for about two years. Overall, the coaches/teachers are great. They are wonderful with the kids - only using positive reinforcement and encouragement, and they are friendly and approachable. The coaches all seem to have a gift for making the workouts fun and exciting, even for timid kids. We especially love Coach Kelly! My kids have progressed into invitational levels, gaining confidence along with their skills. I'd also like to recommend their Kid's Night Out and various camps. We've used them frequently. Our kids attended a "Fun Friday", and we will NOT be going back. It was our first time doing anything at CapGym. I called the number to sign up. They took my payment, but didn't tell me anything else about what I needed to do/bring for Friday. I showed up about 15mins early expecting to have paperwork. Nope. A teen in the office just told me to wait for 10 minutes. I wasn't told where the room was or who the teacher was. It hit 11, and a woman walked by and said to herself, "I think you're with us." I followed her to the room. I waited with our kids for at least 5 minutes, so they could acclimate. Not once did the coach/teacher introduce herself to me. She did ask our children their name and age, but didn't introduce herself to them either. I finally left while my oldest screamed. He's never cried when I've dropped him at school or a sitter's. Ever. The teacher went ahead and closed the door. After leaving, I spent the entire time worrying. They didn't have me fill out any forms. No liability waiver. No emergency contact form. Nothing. I wasn't even sure they had my phone number in case of emergency. When I did arrive, my youngest came running out to me. It took the teacher a good few minutes to notice he wasn't even in the gym! She only had 5 kids to watch, so it's not hard to know if 1 is missing. She came out and just told my child that he needs to tell her if he's leaving. Yeah, blame him. My son also spent those few minutes when he ran out just crying. I looked at the other kids who were doing whatever while the teacher talked to another adult. If you want your kids to go somewhere that is not only fun, but SAFE look elsewhere. I would never trust them with my kids again. EVER. read more

We had our daughters there for over a year. During this time classes were cancelled many times yet they charge you the same monthly rate. If you cancel 2 of the 4 classes a month and still charge for 4, that is a bad business model for keeping customers. Not only that, when we withdrew our daughters (for the failure to provide services paid for) they said "Since you are telling us in January we will apply your last month's deposit to February so she can come through February." I replied I didn't want her coming in February and they needed to apply the deposit to my bank account...to which I received "Ha ha ha! I wish we could do that!". If you like giving away your money, and going to an over-crowded facility, go ahead. If you value your money and expect to get what you pay for, find some other activity. Capitol Gymnastics is a rip off. read more

It saddens me to have to give such a low rating but parents beware. My kids have enjoyed gymnastics here since '08 with no issues. This has changed drastically in the past weeks. There were some terrible racist remarks made toward my daughter by one of the coaches and this has been confirmed by others students and another coach. An unfriendly animal was also brought to the facility during class time and it snapped at my daughter. We addressed the issue with the offending coach- who also owned the dog- as well as the gym manager. Our concerns were ignored and our daughter ( who is only 6) was used as the scapegoat. Suffice it to say we will not spend out time or money any longer at Capital. Parents, especially those who are other than Caucasian, please beware of this place. There are several other high quality gymnastics facilities in north Austin who will treat all children with love and equality. read more

We used to go to Capital Gymnastics in Avery Ranch, but then we moved to Pflugerville and transferred to Capital's gym there. I think that communication and consistency are the challenges for this gym. About 2 months after being there, I received a call from Abbie, one of the program directors. She advised me that one of the coaches suggested that my daughter try a younger class. What upset me was that not one person talked to me about it prior to Abbie calling me. Abbie asked that I try the younger class and then call her to discuss which class was a better fit. After trying the younger class, I tried calling Abbie back 3 times. Not once did she call me back. My daughter was almost hurt when another child pulled her off of the rings. Another mom and myself left messages at the front desk sharing our separate concerns. The other mom received a call back from Abbie and I have not. It is clear that she does not want to communicate with me. A couple of the coaches there are really great, but I don't feel like this gym is the best fit for us so we will be looking for another gym. read more

We have had our daughter at Capital Gymnastics for over 1 year, we made the move with them to the new facility on Kingston Lacy Blvd ( from IH-35/Howard Ln ). Initally our daughter attended the 45min class 1 day a week and then recently we found out they offered a mother's day out program, so we enrolled her. We LOVE the teachers, coaches and the gymnastics that she has learned. Cindy who teaches the mother's day out program is wonderful, she is GREAT with the kids. Kelly and all the coaches here are just FANTASTIC with the kids, I have always felt that we get great attention from them. We just pulled our daugher from the mother's day out program because of the lack of communication from the managment staff. I never felt welcomed by the front office staff. I would get updates on our daughter performance from the coaches/teachers however, that was very seldom. I would recommend Capital Gymnastics but don't expect a friendly front office staff -- otherwise the teachers/coaches are GREAT - my daughter has learned so much. I will also say the price is right and they do have easy payment options ( they offer automatic withdrawl on the 1st of each month with a 10 dollar discount ). read more
