Atlas had a deal for a week $55.00 for 4 courses. This is a steal of a deal for a restaurant like this. We entered and it was fairly quiet probably because it was freezing outside. We got seated at our table and then we waited...and waited...and waited... So the manager came by and asked us if we need anything and I replied, "Yeah a server." Apparently there was a mix up with communication and whose table was whose. It is gorgeous inside. Very sexy. Plush benches, silver tones, and blue lights. This would be a great place to be seen after a hockey game or something. Finally with our fixed menu in hand and some water. The manager asked us if we would like the wine paring for no extra charge. What a fabulous gift! We started out with the black truffle and brie aranchini. This is super rich and flavourful. Great texture on the outside and creamy goodness on the inside. My husband and I got one of each of the salads - Wedge and Ceasar. The portions were massive, so I am glad I got the wedge. I could pack it up and it was fresh and crisp the next day. Dressings on both of them were excellent I got the black sesame ahi tuna and my husband got the petite filet. Both were excellent but if I wanted to finish dessert I would have to get this packed for home. Finaly onto dessert my husband got the chocolate peanut butter bar, while I went with the strawberry pavlova. Both were fine, but the peanut butter bar was super rich. If you like your meat charred, your butter tasting of blue cheese, your potatoes full of cheese and garlic and your asparagus tasting of overwhelming tarragon, you might like this place. It was a bit too much for me, but we can't all like the same things. I think the staff might have recommended we not order two mashed potatoes, but otherwise service was sufficient and relatively attentive. Attention was given to my gf dietary needs, but no attempt at a gluten free bread was made, as has been done a similar high end establishments. Our waitress nearly gave our meal to another table, but fortunately was intercepted by another server. We arrived at 5:30 and got our meals at about 7:00. The ambiance was reminiscent of a high end pizza place- large marble topped tables to shout across. My lamb was a bit under done, but that was okay since I had allowed for that. I've had better lamb in my own home, but I admit I'm not a fan of char as the main flavour. It was very attractively plated and I liked most of the vegetables that shared the plate, excepting perhaps, one or two pieces of bitter greens. Atlas is located on the second level of the grand villa casino. It is a dramatic adults only restaurant with stunning chandeliers, dim lighting, black leather seats with a modern touch. My waitress was very attentive and friendly which was a great addition. I did visit during the lunch hour so they didnt have that oilers or arena rush like everyone complains about. Food looks like art with amazing details using unique ingredients. I started with a house salad and words cannot describe how beautiful it looked. It looked like a artsy dish from a fancy restaurant. The flavours were unique and I loved the Asian influence to the dish. It was great! This was accompanied with house bread. Wow amazing freshly baked hot out of the oven brioche bread! A hint of rock salt and the accompanied blue cheese spread elevated the bread to one of edmonton's best complimentary bread service! The spegetti carbonara was delicious. The dish was surprisingly light and the bits of juniper smoked pork belly were out of this world. It was probably the best pork belly have had in my entire life. It was smoky and salty and was so addictive. I only wish that there was more of it on my plate. The egg was cooked perfectly and the yolk gave the pasta a extra creaminess that was just perfect. Every dish I had was spot on. Seasoned perfectly with a feast for the senses. Every dish was artfully mastered where it looked so nice I didn't want to mess it up. I'm not sure what's with all the bad reviews. Yes this is a busy restaurant when it's game day Or a special event is happening at the arena. But that should be expected! I'm glad this place opened up in edmonton. It honestly reminds me of dining in Las Vegas. Large portions that are so delicious that I just keep eating until I'm stuffed to the brink. I was here shortly after it opened and hadn't been back until recently. Thursday is half price seafood night so that's a good time to go if you like seafood. I had the lobster spagetinni, a shrimp cocktail, and a tomatoe bisque. All were good and at half price they were good value. The decor is lovely, its all subdued and dim but well lit with comfortable seating. Like a traditional, upscale, fancy club. Oh, and there was live piano music and the player accomodated requests. Perfect background music. The service was fine and efficient. One thing to note is that the hours and specials are complicated. If i have this correct, they are closed monday to wednesday unless there is an event at Roger's Place, then they are open. On nights that there are events at Roger's, usual specials (like half price seafood) don't begin until 7pm, as opposed to a non-event night when the special begins earlier. I'd say just phone or check the website if you are planning to go and are looking for a particular special. This restaurant is upstairs in a casino and is attached via indoor walkways to hotels and shopping. In the cold winter, you could stay, play, shop and eat without going outside. read more

Birthday dinner!!! I had been looking forward to this one for months. By all accounts Atlas Steak and Fish is a high end steak house without destroying your pocket book in the process. It didn't disappoint. Any space within the new Rogers Arena is pretty amazing. We had drinks at Match before making our way upstairs. The room is absolutely amazing. Kind of dark but open with a full view of the kitchen. I love that. We ordered individual appetizers, I the lobster bisque and my gf had a Caesar salad that would have fed 8. My bisque was very delicious, topped with a perfectly cooked scallop and a dollop of roe. Just creamy lobstery amaze balls. Caesar salad was just incredible as well. I went with the simple strip loin for my main, resisting every bone in my soul not to get the 65 dollar chili rubbed 16 oz Ribeye. I kinda feel if a steak house can master the lean NY strip then it's a winner. And they absolutely did...my god just perfect and I mean perfect rare cook. With a homemade chimichuri that was nothing short of special itself. Accompanied al a carte with roasted veggies that were...roasted veggies but still very tasty. My gf had a mushroom risotto that she would go on to rave about for the rest of the evening. Finished up with a free birthday dessert of a deconstructed cheese cake that I literally could only muster one bite of because my pants were feeling a wee bit tight. But sensational nonetheless. I really wanted to like this place because Thursday is half price seafood and bubbly night, and that just sounds like it's made for me. Unfortunately, this isn't the place for me. (EDITED: I moved my review of the food itself to the bottom because I think this next paragraph is important enough to talk about before I get into the food). Why the 1 star? We noticed that there were a lot of staff walking around. Mostly guys in suits holding drinks and talking to each other while hostesses and servers worked, cleaned tables, etc. You can tell they weren't customers though, because they had badges and they were walking through the back by the kitchen, etc. As we were leaving, a group of them were seated next to a table being cleaned by a female staff member. The guys were very loudly talking about another female staff member in a crude manner (her sexuality, STD's, etc.) It was disgusting and clearly the girl cleaning the table was uncomfortable. Hell, we were walking by on our way out and were extremely uncomfortable. It was rude, disrespectful, and completely inappropriate. I would never come back to a place that condones that behaviour from its staff, let alone its management. And now, the actual review: Walking up the stairs to the restaurant, you can start to hear the really loud music. For a place that is going for a romantic vibe, it feels like you're walking into a dance club. The hostess couldn't hear us, we couldn't hear her, and then another hostess came out and tried to also seat us because she couldn't hear her co-worker tell her she was looking after us. I think that's a good sign that your music is too loud. We were seated in the back half of the restaurant, facing the kitchen window. It really is a beautiful space with big rounded booths, chandeliers and dim lighting. Our hostess dropped an iPad with the drink menu on our table and left. Our server came out and again, we couldn't hear him. He offered to ask them to turn down the music for the back half of the restaurant and we were much better after that. So, the Thursday special is half price on any sparkling wine and anything on the menu with seafood in it. We ordered a $20 bottle of Spanish bubbles, the lobster bisque, calamari and the seafood tower. Our total came to about $100. Everything came out really quick and the server and kitchen staff were great. Technically, the dishes were all spot on. Flavour wise, ehhh. I liked that the bread came with blue cheese - that's something different you don't see at other places. The bisque was more a tomato puree vs a lobster dish. The scallop on it was seared perfectly. The calamari was perfectly cooked, but so bland. Finally, the seafood tower was ok. I don't think it's worth the full price of $84 - was a bit skimpy on some things. You can go elsewhere in town for a much better tower if you're willing to pay full price. read more

Was here tonight for an amazing event, and the food was incredible. Staff and all of the service was as well above bar!. I think sometimes this restaurant gets a bad rap because it's in the casino and near Rogers place... It is truly one of the top 10 restaurants in town. I think they just need to get some consistency with regular clientele. The wireless is great, talk to his top notch, the JOSPER grill is one of a kind and creates a very smoky grilled meat which is like anything you've ever tasted in the city. It's great spot for pre-Rogers place concert or hockey game, but also great just for a night out... Also the private room that they have here is actually the nicest room in the city... My friend invited our food group out for a special ladies night event the restaurant was having. Also it was Thursday. And on Thursday they offer 50% off on all their seafood dishes. A truest awesome deal. We arrived around 6:30 and the restaurant was still very quiet. The decor at Atlas is glitzy-glam with great chandeliers and leathery type booths. We started our meal off by ordering the ahi tuna and mussels and clam dish as starters. As well as a bottle of champagne. The ladies night also had an amazing deal of 50% off bottles of champagne and sparkling wine. So bonus. Our waitress for the evening was amazing. She took our order on time and made some great suggestions. Tuna bites were unfortunately overpowered by the pickled ginger. The tuna was diced to fine and was lost under the garnish making it taste more like a bite of sushi. The complimentary brioche bread was so soft and I loved the bits of sea salt on top. This bread is served with blue cheese butter. I'm not a huge fan of blue cheese but it wasn't not an overwhelming flavour and it added a nice twist to a simple pleasure. But the most delicious was the mussel and clam appetizer in Josper tomato sauce. This is the sort of appetizer you want to eat all to yourself. Trust me don't share it. The stewed tomato sauce is made in a Josper oven, which is basically a fancy oven that both cooks and smokes food simultaneously. Anyhow it offers up an amazing unique taste to the tomatoes. The thinly sliced fennel offers up a nice bit of much needed added texture. Honestly I cannot recommend this dish enough. My friend was desperate to try the seafood tower so at half off I mean why not. The seafood was incredibly fresh and I loved the itty bitty hot sauce bottles. After all that seafood I was feeling a little carb deprived so I shared a side of the blue cheese gnocchi. The sauce was perfectly salty and perfectly cheesy with just the right amount of punch from the blue cheese. Sooo good. As you can probably tell the food was top notch only unfortunately somewhere between ordering our starters and our entree the restaurant became packed leading to almost an hour and a half wait for our entrees. Our waitress felt sorry for us and tried to make up for it by offering us some complimentary desserts. Only that was another 45min wait. And I think she got in trouble for doing it. All in all I'll definitely come back for the amazing half price seafood Thursday. Just be prepared. If it's busy you better have time on your hands. I visited Atlas for the first time last night, as part of the Yelp Elite event. What a gorgeous space it is. It definitely felt like we were in Vegas, or better yet #YEGAS! The staff was a pleasure and was constantly offering food to us. Everything I tried was delicious, the beef dish really stood out to me and I so appreciated that flaked salt, yum! I have lived across the street from this place since it opened and have no idea why I hadn't tried it. Service was fantastic, from checking for a reservation, to being seated when they really didn't have any room on a busy hockey game night. I was worried we would feel rushed for the table to be flipped as reso's were tight but we didn't feel that way at all by the staff. Our server was new, I could tell and nervous about her bottle opening skill set. I tried to put her at ease and she was adorable. The decor here is also very nice. I enjoyed it. Steak was good, sides were really, really good. We tried a couple. I felt it a little overpriced, but I find all steakhouses are getting a bit ridiculous. Here I felt it because of the wine menu especially. A little much for being just on par with all the competition. It's the only thing that would hold me back from visiting more often. To start, it seems as though they never have happy hour even though its promoted to be happy hour daily from 4:30pm to 6pm. I tried to go for happy hour 3 separate times. 1st time, I learned they don't do happy hour whenever there is a special event hosted at rogers place. 2nd time was my fault as they were closed on Mondays. 3rd time, we called before hand to confirm they were open and had happy hour available. This is an upper end steak house. I ate here while on a work assignment. I had the bigger NY Strip steak cooked rare. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted great. I had a wedge salad beforehand which also was very tasty. The dressing was good and the bacon on the salad tasted great I also had a side of asparagus. The portion size was great and the asparagus was cooked perfectly and not undercooked which makes it mushy. I also had the wild mushrooms. Again they were very good. This was all topped off by 3 glasses of wine. It was pretty empty on a Tuesday night so we got great personalized service. The bottom line is this is a great steakhouse to eat at while visiting Edmonton. I highly recommend it. read more

Alright so I'm just gonna throw my 2 cons out there first and just get them out of the way - the only negative things about Atlas is that it is fairly pricey and parking is atrocious, especially if you want to eat here on a event night. Otherwise, Atlas was a great dining experience and the food was delicious. Atlas is located in Rogers Place, just above the casino. The atmosphere and decor gives the restaurant a classy Las Vegas style feel and definitely more of a high class dining experience to it. That said, there are people that go there in all sorts of dress attire but it's really more of one of those places that you could get dressed up and have an amazing date night dinner at. We went during the Downtown Edmonton dining week so we settled for the set feature menu. We both ordered the shrimp cocktail, which was truly amazing. I know you might not think some boiled shrimp and cocktail sauce could really be that great but these were. The shrimp were huge and the homemade cocktail sauce had just the right balance if horseradish in it. I had the chicken and my friend ordered the steak. Both meals were perfectly done. Dessert was a light cheesecake that was the perfect touch of after dinner sweetness. Meals are also served with warm fresh house made bread with a blue cheese infused butter. Yum!! I get that Atlas probably isn't the kind of place everyone can afford (like I said, it is rather pricey) but if you get the chance to splurge for a anniversary or birthday or something, definitely get dressed up and go have a meal here. Service was slow (had dinner at 5 so we could attend the Oil Kings game at 7) The bread and amuse-bouche were great. The blue cheese butter was a great touch. Appies ordered were the seasonal oysters and welling steak bites. These were ok. Mains ordered included the special: bison short rib, beef tenderloin, and a prime rib. Food was presented nice but was tasteless. We had all had better. We tried the Gorgonzola mac and cheese as a side but it was just too powerful of a taste. No attempts to acknowledge my finances birthday or dessert was offered. We had to ask twice to have the candles lit on our table as well. No salt or pepper was offered either. My experience at Atlas was absolutely phenomenal, it was easily one of the most beautiful restaurants I have ever seen. They had a pianist playing, which created the perfect ambiance for a date, business meeting or just somewhere to unwind after work. Tamra, our server was delightful, entertaining and professional. She knew the menu extremely well, answered all of our questions and was extremely patient with us when we couldn't decide what to order as everything sounded so good! She made recommendations and they were all spot on! Every single item we ordered off the menu was fantastic. We started with the mussels & clams, as well as a table side warm spinach salad. I urge you to order it as it's not only delicious, but quite the show! We ordered the tenderloin, which melted in your mouth. The truffle Parmesan fries were to die for, I would go back out of my way to stop by and just order them! Our favorite part of the meal was the dessert. We ordered the bread pudding, which is made fresh upon order. It was easily one of the best dishes I've ever eaten in my life, and will definitely be getting it again when I return. All in all, the experience was easily 10/10. The manager, James stopped by to chat with us to make sure our evening was satisfactory. He was extremely friendly, and welcoming. My Wife and I had a great experience here. There was a very talented piano player playing that night and the live music really added to the feeling of the place. I was pleasantly surprised to hear a jazzy cover of Nirvana's Teen Spirit. The restaurant is classy but not pretentious. The dining room is beautiful and our booth really gave us a lot of privacy. The glass full wall wine cellars that are used to create additional private spaces are very unique. The food was incredible. The prime rib was so delicious, the Yorkshire puddings with gravy are the best I have ever had, without gravy I could eat those all day. The house made bread with blue cheese butter was so good. Good option for dinner before an event at the arena Though it has been open for a couple years, I had not previously dined at Atlas Steak & Fish located in the casino at the Rogers arena. As my partner and I were attending the recent Bryan Adams concert, I figured we'd give it a try. I had no idea how busy the restaurant would be on an event night so booked a reservation a couple weeks ahead to ensure that we had a table. Concert was at 8pm so I made a reservation for 6pm to ensure we'd be out in time. We were seated promptly upon arrival and were informed that as it was an event night, they had a limited menu that evening. I had done some research previously and was aware the the full menu is not offered on event nights so this was not an issue. Our server reviewed the menu highlights with us and mentioned on event nights they offer 90 minute service to ensure no one is late for their event. This was perfect and was in line with our timing expectations for the evening. The restaurant is a steak house and my partner and I are both fans of beef so it wasn't hard to find something we liked on the menu. I opted for the tenderloin and my partner went with the prime rib. Server talked us into a prawn cocktail starter so we were set for dinner. I had a glass of Shiraz with my steak and my partner opted for bottle of Becks to go with his prime rib. Obviously the prawn cocktail appie arrived first. It came with 4 HUGE prawns with cocktail sauce. Presentation was completed with some dry ice at the bottom for a cool fog effect rolling off the serving vessel. We each had two prawns and given their size this was adequate. Complementary hot bread with a blue cheese butter was also served. For our mains I had an Oscar topped 6 ounce tenderloin. It came with a standard topping of hollandaise, crab and asparagus spears. It was accompanied with roasted potatoes and some greens with dressing. Steak was good, perhaps a bit closer to medium-rare than rare but most people don't like their beef as rare as I eat mine. My partner had a 12 ounce cut of prime rib. It came with roasted potatoes, asparagus spears, Yorkshire pudding and a red wine jus. He said he enjoyed his prime rib, in particular he thought that it had an excellent coating that was flavourful. We also ordered a side of the Gorgonzola mac and cheese which probably wasn't needed given the amount of food we had. We both opted for dessert after dinner. As they were doing the limited menu there were only 2 options so we tried one of each of the offerings which were creme brulee and a deconstructed cheese cake. Both were good. Service was efficient and attentive and the Maitre'D checked up on us a couple times. During dinner we found out about a few of the specials that they offer certain evenings during non-event nights on seafood and prime rib. We had already planned on coming back to check out the full menu, these additional specials provided even further incentive to return. One nice touch was a person playing the piano in the restaurant during our dinner. As a bonus, every 2nd or 3rd song he played was a Bryan Adams tune to get us ready for the concert. This added a nice atmosphere to the room for the evening. True to their word, they had us out of the restaurant in 87 minutes, plenty of time to get into the arena and seated for the concert So if you are looking for somewhere to go to dinner before a hockey game or concert at Rogers Arena, look no further than Atlas. There are real bargain every Thursday at the Atlas Steak and Fish located in the Grand Villa Casino in downtown Edmonton. Every Thursday all seafoods and drinks are 50% discount. We ordered 2 plates of seafood tower, king crab legs, prawn cocktails and oyster and several round of drinks for less than $160. The seafood was very fresh and the overall presentations were excellent. We celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary at this venue with in-laws from Edmonton and thoroughly enjoyed this occasion. This place has delicious food. Weve been here for numerous occasions now. Our latest visit was New Years Eve, right before the game. We took a chance in not preboooking but lucky for us there was room at the bar. They really tried to do a Vegas restaurant ambience. Everytime I takes pics here people would assume I'm in Vegas. They have a great wine selection that you can select through an ipad. To start your exquisite dining experience are freshly baked buns with a side of blue cheese butter. Their lobster bisque is very good(specially with the fresh buns). But if you like shrimp, do the shrimp cocktail (its massive and flavourful). The sides are shared and they give you a decent portion. Truffle mac and cheese would be my favorite side dish. We've had their popular seafood tower, which I highly recommend as a first timer and seafood lover. The steaks are cooked to perfection. The Mrs. booked us reservations here last month during Downtown Dining Week. It was a little tricky to get to but once you're finally parked by Rogers Place and wind your way in, the restaurant itself is gorgeous and does indeed remind me of Vegas Style. We opted for the Downtown Dining Week though the soup was subbed: Josper Smoked Tomato Soup Starter salad with strawberries and White Balsamic Pork Bely Carbonara (which is why we came) Chopped Tenderloin Bowl. I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant last night before the Bruno Mars concert. It's a beautiful, elegant restaurant with a lovely ambiance. We had a very nice server, who took good care of us and we really liked her. She was extremely busy but didn't miss a beat. Now the food. The food...was..amazing. First, we had the mussels and clams. I wasn't expecting to enjoy them, as I'm typically not a fan of red sauce. I was wrong. The sauce has a smoky rich flavor that inspired us to soak up every last drop with our soft, fresh bread. The lobster bisque was just as good, which I understand is made with the same tomato base. It was served with a scallop and caviar as garish. I will go back to this restaurant for the bisque alone!! A girlfriend and I recently met for lunch before a day of shopping downtown, both being tired of the usual chains like Cactus and Earls, we decided to try out the new Casino as we had heard that Atlas Steak + Fish was now offering a lunch menu. After hearing great reviews about their dinner offerings, we thought this would be a great alternative to the overrated joints we are used too, and we are so glad we went! We were immediately greeted by a friendly host upon reaching restaurant, and were seated at a perfect table by the open kitchen. It was so cool to watch the chefs cook! The details in the restaurant are superior to anything we've ever experienced in Edmonton, the waterfall is beautiful! To start, we shared the extremely creamy and smoky cheese fondue as our server told us all about their unique Josper oven, and the roasted bone marrow (neither of us had ever had bone marrow before!), and they both impressed! My friend had the crispy lobster roll, which looked amazingly fresh and flavorful. I had the steak tenderloin burger which was to die for! And I highly recommend adding the foie gras torchon! Anything with foie gras, and I HAVE to have it! It was so juicy, by far the best burger I have ever had! Service was impeccable, and I can't rave more about the food; Chef Shelley Robinson has changed our view on Edmonton lunch, and we will definitely be back! Especially to try our dinner, as we hear there are some amazing features that sell out immediately! Saw a new steakhouse in town and thought we just needed to try it. Took my husband for his birthday and it was an amazing experience. Situated inside Grand Villa casino it gave me a good excuse to dress up. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the atmosphere is quite romantic with the some live grand piano playing. Lobster bisque was deliciously topped with a seared scallop. We shared the cowboy steak, with the Brie mash potatoes and lobster tail - oh man, that was phenomenal. Steak and lobster done to perfection. The seafood was just as good as the steak! read more

Went to atlas steak for their valentine's set menu event. I had very high expectations and they did not disappoint. For appetizer I had the Caesar salad... the only real let down of the night. The menu said it would be prepared table side and sadly it was not. When I asked why not they said it was a mistake on the menu..... boooo... that's half the reason I ordered it. They picked it up from there. My steak was perfectly cooked in the josper oven so it had a very strong mesquite flavour. The warm potato salad was delicious and the wine pairings were expertly picked. For dessert they served a chocolate fondue for 2. It was OK, but I would have preferred a larger steak and no dessert. I will definitely be back to give them another try off their regular menu. read more

The atmosphere is amazing, very welcoming. The staff is very well trained and incredibly accommodating. We had the Bay Area Cioppino and it was phenomenal. They put a lot of care and incredible attention to detail into their food. Will definitely be back.... soon! read more

I attended a private function here last night and we had the private room in the back. My first impression is how beautiful and swanky the place is. You literally forget you're in a casino. They do have a live piano player, so that adds to the ambience. We were served appys all night like oysters, squid, bruschetta, as well they laid out cheese and meat platters.....but the best thing was the carved roast prime beef. All were awesome and the roast was one of the best I've had. Made perfectly. If their food is anything like what I got to sample last night, I will definitely come back for the full meal deal. And service was awesome. Shout out to Pamela for keeping up with drink orders from a big crowd all night. Oh and I just had to mention the cool Dyson 2 in 1 tap and blower in the washroom.....now I want one for my house haha. This would definitely be a nice place to go for special occasions or nice date night, not an every day thing for me, as I have heard prices are a bit higher (expect like $65 for a steak). I don't make the Katz bucks haha. Giving it a 4 out of 5 only because I was only here for a private function and not a sit down dinner and ordering from a menu.....so will have to one day come back for that. read more

My Husband and I went to Atlas Steak + Fish last night for our anniversary. We saw this restaurant on the open house day of the arena- and knew we wanted to experience it- so I went to open table and booked a reservation. Little did I know our anniversary fell on an Oilers game night. Atlas is blessed and cursed with being next door to an arena- so be warned they serve the "Showcase Menu" from the website on game nights. I was wanting to try the duck breast, or pork chop, and was initially a little sad. That didn't last long... The staff were friendly and accommodating right off the bat, they gave us a table for 6 after checking with us that it was okay, just so we didn't have to wait. Our server gave us complimentary champagne to start, when I mentioned it was our anniversary. I then ordered the Frozen Hound cocktail- which was just amazing- a pink grapefruit delight. My Husband tried the Brio beer from Iceland - which was unique and highly pressurized! We were served the most gorgeous pretzel bread while we waited -with a blue cheese butter in a cute little skillet. For our main course we both had the prime rib - I had the 8 oz chili rubbed, and my Husband, the 12 oz. I am not a prime rib fan but I can tell you this night completely changed my mind. It was so tender, flavourful and wonderful. I got the béarnaise sauce on the side- so rich and yummy. We each had grilled asparagus, potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding on the side. To top this off we added the Alaskan King Crab Legs. They were just awesome. Atlas uses a Josper oven with charcoal briquettes from Mexico - and this gave the crab a rich, smoky flavour I have never had before. Da bomb. To top the night off we had a chocolate torte. Candied orange, fresh fruit. Perfection. The torte was rich and dense and was like eating one big yummy truffle. Prices are higher end but not ridiculously out there. Atmosphere was romantic and ritzy. Really made our night special. Piano player during the earlier part of the evening was a nice touch. I could almost squint and feel like this was Vegas and not Edmonton. Get out there Yelpers and try this amazing place. read more

I went to Atlas Steak & Fish last night. There was a 25 minute wait to get into the bar & grill downstairs at the casino so I asked if I could get into Atlas and because I was by myself they said I could go to the bar. I had Josper Smoked Chicken Breast and it was wonderful. I loved it. I hate beets but I ate them because they are unbelievably great when they are smoked. I have only one complaint about the dish way to much pepper on the vegetables. Overall this dish was amazing. My friend who didn't want to join me because she was gambling now wants to try the dish. read more

This is our favourite restaurant to go to before an Oilers game or an event at Rogers Place. The steaks are always top notch, and the best prime rib. The special ovens they have do add the smell of gas/smoke in certain items (such as the Yorkshire puddings), which is one of my only complaints. Most people may not notice, but my wife and I did and didn't like it. The bread is probably some of the best we have had. So yummy and presented in a cast iron skillet. Note: event nights offer a reduced menu and no mods as they are busy. read more

What s swanky place to check out downtown! Dimly lit, cozy booths and a piano player make for a nice, romantic dinner out. It was difficult to get a reservation for this place and I almost gave up but I'm glad I came. We ordered the Arctic char and the gentlemen's cut of prime rib with the Gorgonzola Mac and cheese. The freshly baked bread service was probably the best bread service in Edmonton, all warm and deliciously soft. Our mains were good but I would skip the Mac and cheese. It was intensely rich and just something that was probably not worth the calories. We didn't stick around long since we had other plans but I would say it's worth a trip back to check out the other sections of the menu and the full menu since we were only offered a preview menu. It was their second or third day open. Service was good and we enjoyed our meal. read more

I decided to check this restaurant out for a belated birthday dinner the night before the garth brooks concert. I had made reservations weeks in advance expecting it to be busy and from reading other reviews in regards to slow service during event nights.Upon arriving we were seated immediately after being greeted by the manager who told us he had a nice booth waiting for us. We noticed both booths and tables in the restaurant. Our server Kyla was absolutely amazing, she was extremely knowledgable and very informative offering explanations of menu items and recommendations as well as explaining a bit about the background of the restaurant in relation to the Grand Villa casino. The service we received from her during our dining experience completely exceeded my expectations by far. We received a delicious warm pan bread to start with blue cheese butter, which unfortunately I was not a fan of as I don't care for blue cheese. We had the ahi tuna to start which was a nice start to dinner. My friend and I shared the 10oz new york strip, medium rare as Kyla suggested the chef recommends and we weren't disappointed with our choice. You have the option to chose different sides which are separately priced to accompany your steak. Prior to ordering Kyla informed us the steak comes with a warm potato salad as a side. We added josper grilled vegetables as well as sauteed jumbo prawns which were definitely jumbo indeed. They use a josper oven to cook some of their menu items which is supposed to create a smoky flavour which I didn't overly notice but could taste a hint of smokiness in the food.We were too full for dessert but it was nice of Kyla to exclude two drinks from our bill instead as she knew we were celebrating my birthday. Beautiful restaurant, loved that the drink menu is provided on an ipad. We had an amazing experience here, the food, service and atmosphere were all fantastic! Also want to add the manager Jamie was also very generous enough to allow my dad to play the Boston piano,before their piano player took over for the night and it really made the night that much more special! Wish I would have taken pictures but I was too busy enjoying myself to do that. Gives me the excuse to come back to try the other delicious sounding menu items! We had a 2 for 1 entrées so decided to give it a try. The service was good, but coming from Vancouver the food was okay. We had the tenderloin steak, and I did expect the beef quality to be better considering we are in Edmonton. The steak only comes with some roasted potatoes and a pesto sauce. We were here last night for NYE; in total a group of 12. This place is awful and delivered one of the worst dining experiences I have had in the last 20 years. Don't waste your time and go to the Keg (or better yet Hardware Grille) instead. See below for more details: 1) We arrived at 8 pm. The place was not that busy. Our drink order was taken at 8.15 but we received our first drink at 8.45 pm. Extend this type of delay to the entire meal (which was a fixed menu - so it's not like anything we ordered was out of the ordinary) - and we finished the evening at 11.45 pm. Yes, that's right 15 minutes before the ball drops for New Year's. Our NYE plans were ruined! 2) The food was NOT awful but worse than the Keg (which is not all that great either). So basically you pay more and get less. The meat quality was good, but all of our steaks were way overdone. We did not send the food back due to the timeliness of the experience. I had low expectations for the food (I didn't expect this place to rival the best places in New York, Toronto, Montreal or Chicago) but Atlas did not even meet my low expectations (again, the Keg is better - sad isn't it). The serving sizes are small too - but I am OK with that if the quality is outstanding. It isn't. You leave the venue late, unsatisfied and hungry. The overall experience was totally unacceptable. There are far better places - i.e Hardware Grille, Corso 32, Sofra, etc. don't waste your time or money here. One of the most disappointing meals we have ever experienced If you like poor service, cold food and arrogant management at four star prices... this is the place for you.. When one orders wine, salad, prime rib and vegetable sides... one normally expects the salad to arrive first. Nope.... in this case our first course was barely warm meat (verging on cold) lukewarm potatoes, equally lukewarm vegetables.. and stone cold Yorkshire pudding! This was returned with a reminder of the omitted salad and after some delays, salad came... then came the plates to eat it from, then came the cutlery... then, after about 5 more minutes of being ignored, I put my hand up and caught the eye of the 5th server to pass by our table to get some pepper for my salad. Before we could eat the salad we are inundated by 3 servers and re-delivery of all the main course dishes... prime rib (warmer but not anything approaching hot)... potatoes and vegetable (warmer...but again not hot) and stone cold Yorkshire pudding! I was able to pick the Yorkshire up in my hand with no risk of injury... it had no warmth in it at all. I handed it to the supervisor... who returned 5 minutes later with a lukewarm Yorkshire ... and excuses about it having been made in the morning .... and this is how they serve it! I am not a chef nor a restauranteur, but my partner is.... and her version of how to deal with Yorkshires is very different. The prime rib itself was tasty, tho a long distance from the rare I had ordered. It did not, however, get any warmer sitting on my plate beside the second service of lukewarm potatoes, spinach and vegetable sides. Clearly the kitchen staff do not check their orders and if they can't get things right after 2 attempts... the likelihood of redemption on a third attempt is remote at best. After some delay the supervisor came back to ask how the meal was and received a succinct digest of my views of this disappointing experience.. he left with a curt... "we will talk later". We ate the meat.. and the vegetables leaving the cold potatoes and spinach for someone else to deal with ......and our plates were cleared. No one even asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. Some time passed and the supervisor returned with a creme brule on a plate with "Sorry" written in chocolate. Unfortunately neither of us eat sugar these days... so we respectfully declined.... and made a simple request for coffee and tea.... reported our disappointment again and requested our bill. The bill came with a 25% "staff" discount.... it was paid... and off we went with me completely disappointed in by the entire experience and embarassed that I had not simply called the debacle off earlier. It was to have been a special meal to celebrate a special event, but alas it was anything but special. To be fair, the surroundings are lovely, but the likelihood of us ever going again or recommending it to others is very remote. Indeed I promised to share my experience with others .... and thus this review. Save your money for popcorn inside Rogers Place. read more
