We had dinner here to celebrate my birthday. Our table was a little close to the other beside, but otherwise all was fantastic. Our server was knowledgeable of the menu items, and provided exceptional service. The assistant was also timely with service to refill our beverages and check in. The crab cakes were a large portion and delicious. My husband ordered a steak and we shared some sides. I also received a free dessert for my birthday and it was a large portion that was more than enough for two people to share. We would definitely come back to celebrate a special occasion! read more

Came here to celebrate a birthday. When booking the reservation I made a note it was for birthday and the staff knew immediately to ask who's birthday we were celebrating and our waitress made sure to tell us any dessert was going to be free. There was also confetti on the table and a birthday card for the birthday boy. Parking is available behind the building. A little sketchy in the dark and that is why I made the reservation as early as possible. Parking is ~$8/1 hr or $14/5 hrs. Place looks stunning and the decor is very classy. Great place to celebrate and dress-up - but there were people who came in a T-shirt and one in a hoodie. Boyfriend got the Grey Goose cocktail. While he enjoyed the olives stuffed with blue cheese he struggled to finish the drink. I did not care for it at all as expected of someone who does not like olives and blue cheese. We started with Calamari appetizer. Calamari was 10/10 delicious, very light breading. While the spicy Asian chili sauce was good I found it overwhelming by the end of the dish. I would have much preferred the sauce on the side so I could fully enjoy the Calamari as it was cooked so perfectly. The sauce had a very very slight spice but I would not call the dish spicy. We decided to each get the 11oz Filet. 10/10. Best steak I have had in the city. Presentation was 12/10. Browned butter seasoning was something I have never had with steak before but it was perfect and delicious. Steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare as requested. I ate 10 out of my 11oz and birthday boy ate his 11 and my +1. Manager did come to each table and ask how meals were which was very nice. Sides we went with the "restaurant favorites" which were highlighted in the menu. Waitress recommended 2-3 sides for 2 people. We did finish both sides but felt a little too full after. Au Gratin (potato) was 8/10. I though the potato was too undercooked for my liking and there was not enough sauce in the dish. Boyfriend thought it was great. Creamed Spinach: 10/10. Better than I expected, much creamier. Glad it's not full of large chunks of onion. I did get tired of the flavor after a while and wished it had perhaps a crunchy element such as bread crumb topping. The free dessert was sooo big. The price is quite a lot but they don't tell you it is entire small pie. Very happy with the portion size to the point we didn't even consider eating it all and opted to take it home. A candle was lit on top and Happy Birthday was written on the plate which made a great birthday photo. We tried the Key Lime pie which is boyfriend's favorite dessert. 10/10. Graham cracker crust was better than expected but the bottom crust was too hard to cut through. Key lime flavor was 10/10, first bite was sooo tangy but it was also super creamy and overall just very wonderful. Although our water glasses did not get refilled as often as would have been appreciated (twice I had to place my cup at the edge of the table and hope someone would come fill it) overall this is a perfect place for special events and a really good steakhouse. read more

I took my girl on our third date to this restaurant as I wanted something special. I had been here years ago and was impressed so was pretty sure this gem in the heart of Edmonton would not dissapoint, and I was 100% correct. From the girl that took us to our table, to Tyler our waiter, the girl that poured our water, and Desiree the manager, we were treated like we were special guests. Even the wait staff that were not assigned to us were all smiles and obviously love their jobs. The service was timed perfectly giving us time between courses that otherwise is lost in most restaurants. We never felt rushed and actually sat for 4 hours with Tyler coming around periodically to ensure we had our wine glass topped up and if we needed anything. The food was to die for as I remembered. Hats off to the chef and cooks. If you have someone special in your life that you want to tell them how much you love them without saying it, come here. First time coming here, on the recommendation from my partner for our anniversary dinner. We will absolutely be coming back again. Service was top notch, the decor and ambiance matched as well, a very high end steakhouse. Our server, Morgan, knew the menu inside and out, and was able to make recommendations on the steak doneness and accompaniments. The food was unbelievably good, including all the sides and the desserts, really showing an attention to all sections of their menu instead of having great steaks and mediocre sides. One of the best Ruth Chris restaurants I've been to. There's a coat service when you enter. This is a plus as Edmonton is cold and a heavy coat is a must. Hostess is welcoming and so is the server and the server's assistant. A fireplace was in full swing, giving the restaurant a cozy and warm atmosphere. But the best part is the filet mignon that was cooked to perfection! It was my brother's birthday so he was given a choice for his complimentary birthday treat from the dessert menu! This is rare! Ruth Chris is considered number one for steak houses and this particular branch surely did live up to its reputation! A definite must try if you're in Edmonton!!!! read more

The Alberta beef rib eye was delicious and done just perfectly! The mushroom, potatoes, and vegetables were also delicious. The Lobster tail however was almost raw - they did replace it and remove it from the bill. Service was top notch! CONS: Real butter was NOT available for the rolls OR as an accompaniment to the lobster tail. CONCLUSION: It is not a cheap meal so why something as simple as butter was not part of the meal is crazy and left me feeling very disappointed ?! read more

What the place looks like o. The outside is nothing compared to what it looks like on the inside. This place is so beautiful upon entering, I was admiring it all night long, so cozy and warm. With that being said the server was friendly but I don't believe the service was the best. I had gone with 6 other people who have been there a handful of times before & they also agreed that they believed they were understaffed and really lacking as that has never been their experience before. I had order the stuffed chicken, it was WAAAAAY to buttery for me, which takes a lot for me to say but it's true. So I would not be ordering that again. The side dishes we got were of variety, but I do not believe that the portion size of what you get and what you're paying for is worth the price. The food was all okay, nothing that made me want to come back again for. My mind partner also ordered his steak medium rare, and it was undercooked and not the best cut of the meat, he couldn't eat all of it due to how chewy it was, he said it felt like a tendon. I'm normally a big picture taker but the only thing I captured was the crème brûlée. Perhaps the presentation of the food also didn't quite capture my eye either. The other thing I'm not a fan of is paying for parking when it's an already very expensive restaurant. This place is a no-go for me! read more

I feel like there is no other rating than five stars. For my boyfriend's birthday I decided to surprise him and take him to Ruth's Chris. Neither of us had ever been before but it was my understanding that if you appreciate a good steak then it was a place you should go at least once. We arrived for our reservation and were informed that the party ahead of us were running a bit longer than expected. The manager was super apologetic while we had no problem waiting in. The lounge (honestly it was kind of cool to get to sit in the lounge for a while). We wound up waiting for about half an hour for our booth (the manager had offered us a table if we wanted but I'm a booth girl) he came out and gave us an appetizer of our choice on the house which we completely did not expect. Then once we were at our table I was delighted to find it covered in birthday confetti along with a birthday card signed by all the employees it was so kind and thoughtful. Our waiter was awesome and attentive. He explained the menu to us. We even got to see the famed tomahawk steak when the table next to us ordered it. We started with the stuffed mushroom caps which were so amazing. Then I ordered the chicken, while the birthday boy got his steak and lobster tail. I was blown away by the stuffed chicken. It was so tender and juicy. And my boyfriend (who admittedly can be a steak snob sometimes) was in love with his meal. To top it off we shared a birthday cheesecake that was UNREAL. but by that time we had to take half of it to go because we were both so full. I had much higher expectations based on the high prices. The meals I've had at similar price points were significantly better. The cowboy ribeye was decent but certainly not worth $100, despite being cooked medium rare I found it quite tough. The asparagus side dish was overcooked, basically the asparagus itself was crunchy and firm. The service was excellent. Overall the ambiance was quite nice and felt formal. Ruth's review We had an anniversary meal here, it was something to remember.... Remember why we don't dine at place like this. Obviously the wait staff were phenomenal with absolutely zero issues very attentive staff. The restaurant itself is very nice, quiet and pleasant to be in. Not much more to say on the building portion of the review. Parking available right beside the restaurant. The food is where we have the main issue. We had ordered two steaks, a filet and a ribeye. Now I preface these next parts by saying we own a smoker at home and if you've ever slow smoked a steak and seared it off nothing compares in tenderness and flavour. The fillet was ordered medium well and it came out more well. The ribeye was ordered medium rare and came out more rare which wasn't a large deal for myself otherwise I would have sent it back and gave them the opportunity to fix it. The ribeye was unevenly cooked though, one side was medium rare while the other closer to blue with a strong visual line throughout. Honestly we didn't feel like waiting for them to fire another fillet and try to cook one side of the ribeye. Flavour wise the steak was somewhere between meh and ok. I feel like any proper steakhouse always finish seasons their steaks before being sent out and these definitely weren't. We enjoyed the sides though hence the 3 stars for food otherwise it would be a 2 based on the steaks. Harvest salad was decent, the fingerling potatoes were amazing and the carrots (from the seasonal menu) were also amazing. The potato's had a very strong smokey/chili flavour and had a phenomenal exterior crisp. All in all this feels like another place where people place value on the experience more than flavour and let the dollar signs mute their taste buds and common sense. Honestly you can not go wrong with Ruth Chris! I'm quite frequent here and have never had complaints. This is a great steakhouse for date night, birthdays, and large groups. We always reserve one of the private rooms when dining here, and I love the professionalism of the servers. The customer service is always stellar and the food is spectacular. In terms of price point, it is a "high end" restaurant and you're looking to spend more than $100 per person (if you're having drinks). Definitely a splurge but totally worth it! read more

We were completely blown away! The atmosphere, the music, just everything was amazing! Our server, Rory, was fantastic! Best steak house in Edmonton hands down. The service is outstanding. The restaurant itself is more than beautiful. My husband and I go here for all our special occasions. They start you out with complimentary bread, which is delicious. Sort of like bread sticks, half are garlic butter and the other half cheese and garlic butter. They are always willing to bring more if you want it. My husband usually has the filet or salmon. As I'm not a huge meat eater I usually just take a small piece of his. We love all the sides. The shoe string fries and pan fried potatoes are the best. We are generally not desert people, but the cheese cake is to die for. I've never had the urge to visit Ruth's Chris Steak House because: a) It's expensive b) It's a chain c) It's expensive Alas, there is a time for everything and my two trusty co-workers, D-Bone and 0andThree, decided to check them out on a Friday for lunch. The interior is quite classy with two areas for you to dine in. We were ushered into the lounge area where our on double duty bartender took care of us. The lounge area felt very casual as a family with two kids came into the area to grab lunch. It's nice that this place isn't overly pretentious, although I'm sure the dining area is a whole different ball game. We went to try out their Edmonton Downtown Dining Week lunch special, which runs from March 13 to March 22, 2015. The special lets you choose one starter and entrée for $15.00. Now that is what I'd say is reasonable and worth the admission fee. Don't forget you have to pay for parking ($8.00 in the Impark lot behind Ruth's Chris, yikes). Of course, I'm sure they do this on purpose, you have to ask for the special menu or else they will bring you the regular lunch menu (which of course is not cheap). Don't you just love when restaurants do that to you? Aren't you supposed to be promoting the dining week? Just another reason why Calgary's The Big Taste is so much better. - Tomato basil - this was the soup of the day. The portion was quite small and the crew didn't have much praise for it. - Black & bleu steak salad - sliced marinated flat iron steak with a side of chopped salad and blue cheese crumbles. OH MAN, Ruth Chris's know how to do their steak right. A nice medium rare, super tender and cooked to perfection. I had a taste and damn girl, it was on point. - Pulled pork sandwich - house made pulled pork on a garlic herb bun with julienne fries and "super" slaw. The fries could have been crispier but the pulled pork was flavourful and tender. The coleslaw complimented the sandwich quite nicely as it was both refreshing and light. - Reuben sliders - sliced Montreal smoked beef with sauerkraut, creole mustard and julienne fries. I guess this is their take on Montreal smoked meat but if you've ever had the real deal, Schwartz's, this ain't even close brah. Oh well, I had a taste and it was decent. The smoked meat was lacking that je ne sais quo though (that's french for it was missing that Montreal secret spice/rub/ingredients). While I wouldn't go there for a regular dinner (unless you're a baller), there are two options to minimize the damage. Wednesday's Date Night seems like your best bang for your buck - $99 for two gets you an appetizer, two entrees, two side veggies, a dessert and two glasses of wine. There is also a $39/person Sunday Night Traditional deal that gets you a salad, surf n turf and dessert. Not too shabby. If your a steak fanatic, then this place most likely will fulfill your beef needs. Just know in advance what you're getting yourself into. Not bad for my first Downtown Dining week meal. read more

Holy dinner batman! Kendra and I went to Ruth Chris, since it was right next door to our hotel. I have been to the one in Calgary, so I already knew it was awesome. But wow.... I forgot how awesome it was! I was checking out teh other reviews, and honestly, I was totally surprised by the 1 - 3 star reviews. I couldn't even give this place a 4 star, because it was a first-class experience. I had the beef tenderloin and stuffed chicken combo, and the chicken practically melted in my mouth, it was so tender. The beef followed suit. It was so tender, I barely had to chew it. The garlic mashed potatoes were to die for! Looks like they had a bad run in October, 2011 with some reviewers, but be rest assured, in November they made a comeback! They were definately pricey though! For two women to have a meal, the tab came to $167. Plus tip on top of that. So, it was a $200 night. 26/30 read more

Back in town to celebrate the birth of our first grandchild and decided to give Ruth's Chris, Edmonton a second go based on the courtesy extended by manager, Jeff during last visit. The salads - both Caesar and tomato salads - were tasty and not overly large which was a happy surprise. She who must be obeyed ordered a really tasty ahi tuna served very rare and accompanied by what I believe is Ruth's version of Ponzu. I can write that it was delicious as my lovely better half shared a few bites. My lamb chops were beautiful. Why in Alberta can I ordered charred, medium rare lamb chops but must have well done hamburger. It's too much state-sponsored interference I tell you! Order the lamb chops when next you visit in spring. All of this was washed back with wonderful white wine from B.C. And I cannot for the life of me remember the vineyard. At any rate, this visit restored my confidence in Ruth's Chris and so we shall return, we shall we return. read more

Awesome service! Courses were timed well. Appetizers were great I had the 12oz ribeye and my wife had the king salmon. The steak was a great cut and the best I've had from a restaurant in Edmonton (kegs and sawmills take note!). Pretty pricey but portions were large enough to make it a good value. Came here for dining week lunch with some coworkers. Service was a bit slow, but they were very busy and it was the last day of dining week, so it was understandable. I had the garden salad & stuffed chicken breast with mashed potatoes. The salad was surprisingly delicious, not usually a fan of plain garden salads, but wow this was no ordinary salad. The dressing was really good and the croutons were so yummy. The stuffed chicken was also really good and served on a bed of wilted spinach, again not usually a fan of wilted leaves of any kind but these had a bit of a sauce, so good. Now the highlight of the meal was the mashed potatoes, I'd come back just to order them. They were creamy and fluffy and just so so yummy! Can't wait for my next meal here. read more

When you're paying $50 for a solo steak (no sides), you expect the very best. You want the highest level of service...the tastiest food - put it simply, you want the emperor of dining experiences. This was my second time at Ruth's Chris and every bit of my dining experience was as fantastic as the first time. We ordered gin caesars to start (the restaurant serves cocktails as doubles), as well as the Lobster Bisque and the Lemon Thai Chicken. The Lobster Bisque was delightfully creamy, with substantial pieces of lobster amidst the soup, while the Lemon Thai Chicken was crisp, delicious, and tossed in a lovely honey ginger sauce. We were also given garlic cheese bread as an appetizer, after which I was a little nervous that I wouldn't be able to finish my steak. When our entrées came out, you could hear the sizzle. Chili's has this trick, too, for their fajitas, and it's a nice little announcement of ''Hey. Delicious food is on its way.' And oh, was it delicious. My AAA Alberta Tenderloin was cooked perfectly (medium rare) , and the butter and salt and pepper seasoning was flavourful without overpowering the taste of the meat. The Ahi Tuna Stack was also seared to perfection and tasted great - some of the best ahi tuna in the city, in my opinion. You can tell that you're eating quality sushi-grade fish. The tuna was topped with crabmeat - real pieces of delicious crab, and none of that fake stuff - as well as a red pepper pesto. Ruth's Chris' sides, while separately priced from the meat/seafood, are huge and perfect to share between two people. We didn't make the same mistake as last time (way too much food) and just ordered the Asparagus with Hollandaise and Seared Scallops as our sides. I absolutely love the Asparagus with Hollandaise; the stalks are always steamed perfectly (crisp and never too soft) and the Hollandaise adds a shot of creamy flavour to the vegetables. And I'll say one thing for Ruth's Chris - they sure know how to sear a scallop. These were tender and flavourful without any of the rubbery consistency you sometimes get when they're overcooked. For dessert, we tried the Crème Brûlée and a Raspberry Sorbet, both of which were delicious and finished off our meal nicely. Overall, I had a fantastic dining experience at Ruth's Chris. There's absolutely nothing negative I can say about my meal. Even the prices, though high, weren't an issue, because we went in knowing what their prices were like. I think that might be the bone of contention for many diners, in that they don't realize that a two-person meal at Ruth's Chris can easily cost around the $200 mark, particularly if you're drinking alcohol. If you want the true fine dining experience, Ruth's Chris is one of Edmonton's best places to eat. So treat yourself: indulge in excellent food and look forward to quality customer service. read more

STEAK! This was my first time visiting a Ruth's Chris Steak House and I could not have been more impressed. The quality of the food as well as the experience was amazing. I ordered the Alberta AAA steak rare and it was the best steak I've ever had. I could nearly cut this steak with my fork. We also had quite a few of the side dishes but those are barely in my memory as I could only think about the steak. If you love steak half as much as I do, you need to check this place out. Also if you want dessert, try the delicious homemade cheese cake. It is so smooth and huge so you'll probably want to share it with a friend. I can't wait for an excuse to go back here. read more
