When I received my call from Tony letting me know the Nissan Leaf was ready, when I arrived, I noticed he even installed my sunshade the way I had it before I left the vehicle for him to service! I had my car worked on here. I got automatic locks installed to operate with the alarm they were putting in. And also got wiring done for a subwoofer. Why is it that all installers either smoke or do meth? The locks worked pretty well.. at first. I mostly recall getting guilty looks from the installer and felt the work was slip shod. Worst place ever. The guy only wants your money and could care less if it's fits in your car. If you bought something and would like to return it. They don't offer returns. Only exchanges, where if you paid $300 for an amp. If you don't like it. Tough shit your outta luck. For exchanges you will probably get screwed because let's say your amp that you paid $300 for, they may exchange it for a shittier one and give you a $100 amp and they will swear up and down that it's the top of the line. Meaning that it's the top of the shittiest line. Never again will I attempt to shop there. They're really expensive too, for installs. Better off buying your equipment elsewhere and having it installed at Fry's. Too bad, you couldn't give them 0 stars. 1 star is being too generous. read more

I brought them a Viper Alarm system that was purchased from amazon. Capital Stereo did the following: - Verify that they could install it - Asked me if I wanted the remote start feature without any charge (due to the fact that my truck is old enough where it doesn't need an additional model) - Give me a quote. - Gave me a Estimated Time of Completion (3-4 hours). - Start on it immediately as a walk-in on a weekend. That right there earns them 3 starts, because that's what is expected of a service/store. Now, why did I click 5 stars, you ask? There are 2 main reasons: 1 - They called exactly 3 hours and 5 minutes after I left. Told me the truck is ready to come and pickup. Most experiences I have, I never get a phone call, and in fact have to call them to find out the status. Additionally, often the timeline is not correct. Usually they run into a problem, and then don't call me about it. 2 - I had a stereo installed in the truck a few years back from another shop (which I wont go to again cause I had the experience I mentioned above). The stereo was a bluetooth deck with a built in microphone that gets routed to the top left corner of the cab. Unfortunately, they just kind of "clipped" it there instead of installing it proper. Without me asking, Car Stereo properly installed that microphone into the bezel (See attached photo). Again, I didn't ask. In fact, their responsibility was only for the Alarm.... And that, ladies and gentlemen is why Capital Stereo gets 5 stars from me. Keep up the good work! It's the little things like that that will separate you from the rest of the competition. read more

I've been to other car audio shops around Fremont and thought I'd try Capital Stereo since I was looking for a specific Honda auxiliary input -- I called and the guys said he had the one I wanted plus a couple others. I did my research before going so I knew how much I wanted to pay. With that budget in mind I went there today one my lunch break. To my surprise I actually got out of there under budget. The person helping, the owner I think (didn't get his name) was really helpful and straight-forward. I went straight home and installed it and now I can actually use my MP3 player in my car. I came in to install Viber the other day. i got really good deal for installation.I was going to install whole package but Chad, the man behind the counter, explained me about everything and what i need. In the end, it turns out I only need half of what I wanted to install so it saved me like 600$. Today I came back in to get my cam hardwired into the car system. Only charged me 30$ and on top of that during the installation, he asked me if i wanted to put a switch so I don't waste battery if I don't need to record it. He did it for free too! I recently purchased a new stereo system for my older 7 series BMW. Tony, the manager is great. He knew a lot about the original stereo system in the car and what upgrades would work well. He asked me if the stereo sounded as good after I had the original head unit replaced (I needed a blue tooth phone in the car). The replacement was done by another shop here in town. I told him that honestly, I didn't think it sounded as good as before. Then he informed me that the original BMW head unit had a special amplifier that drove the speakers in the back deck and that just plugging in a standard aftermarket head meant losing those speakers although the speakers in the rear doors still worked. The store that installed the prior head unit never explained that to me! Anyway, I purchased a new head unit, amp, speakers and subwoofers from Capital and had them do the installation. I think most of their customers must love blasting their stereos. When I picked up the car, the treble and bass were so intense they were scary! I like a more toned down sound but once I turned down the treble and subwoofers a bit, the system sounds GREAT! Yesterday, I listened to an old song that that I must have listened to hundreds if not thousands of times over the years and I was amazed at the clarity. I heard instruments playing that I had never noticed before, all these years. I am really happy with the stereo and with the service Tony and his staff provided. Good price too. The system I got from them was quite a bit cheaper than systems recommended by one of their competitors here in town. read more

Had a very good experience here, after a TERRIBLE ONE at Best Buy in Union City!!! They had the exact same stereo here fro $60 less than Best Buy, and they had all the equipment IN STOCK, which Best Buy did not. They were very accomodating and able to squeeze my wife in at the end of the day. He made me aware of the Bose sub in my wifes car that needed an amp bypass to work, but he could sell me a reasonable amp to drive that sub, so that I do not lose clarity. Hmmmm.....Best Buy failed to mention I would lose my subwoofer when using the amp bypass...SO glad I did not use Best Buy!!! The only issue I have is the screws in the mounting of the amp have vibrated loose with the bass hitting, so I will likely take it back to have them re-screw them in. Minor thing that could have happened to any installer. I would DEFINITELY use Capital Stereo again!!! read more

Came in here today 6/16 on my day off to get a new deck for my car after prolonging it for so long. & I got a chance to meet the owner Tony who took such good care of me! I had called prior to get a estimate to see what I was looking at or a brief range. So I told him exactly what I wanted I picked and chose which model I wanted & Tony took good care of me. He had one of his guys install it quickly as I had plans to meet with my friends. Within a matter of 20-25 mins I had my new deck installed and I was in & out of there no time! I had the pleasure of dealing with both Chad and Tony while getting my Viper system installed. The thing I noticed first is that they are very straightforward and friendly people who know how to properly run a car audio business. In this industry, there is a sense of deceit usually, but not at Capital Stereo. They treated me very well, provided a product at an excellent price, and did a wonderful and clean install. My car is a newer G37, so the wiring is a bit different and more complicated than normal. I had some very minor (and understandable) issues with the system, but they took my car back without question and without delay to get it fixed immediately. I truly appreciated their sense of responsibility and commitment to the customer even after the sale. Another note: I didn't get their installer's name, but he was also very knowledgeable and really knew the Viper system extremely well. I called this place for a quote and the man was very rude. He quoted me $400 for a car stereo and speaker installation. He kept interrupting me while I told him what I needed to be installed then told me to go to another place. I was shocked as I assumed it was a good place because of the reviews. Right afterwards, I called Pacific Stereo and was quoted $100. Moe was very professional and I was greeted with customer service. Please don't give attitude to your customers or prospects. I rarely give 5 stars. Installed BT45-TOY Bluetooth and 3.5MM jack in 2005 Sienna XLE Limited and bluetooth mic. The owner Tony was very responsive to messages on Yelp and phone calls. I ordered the parts on Amazon and installation was done for $75 in 45 minutes. Tony helped me test it out. Based on this experience, I contacted Tony again and got Pioneer 4200NEX from Capital Stereo for the same price as on Amazon and paid tax but got $100 mail in rebate which compensated for the tax and some. The other parts were ordered from Amazon with consultation from Tony because he honestly told me that his price is the same and he too has to order. It was therefore better for me to order and take the parts for installation. I paid $250 for installation including Pioneer ND-BC8, bluetooth mic, USB, HDMI for Android, USB for iPhone and a 3.5MM jack all in a 2006 Lexus LS430. Very neat job. Tony and his installer went out of the way to help me test the system because T Mobile Galaxy Note 3 did not work. Samsung S7 and iPhone worked. I do not write reviews unless I'm extremely happy or extremely disappointed. In this case, I'm extremely happy. Tony, the owner is very, very honest and willing to to put the customer's needs first. I was looking for a bluetooth setup for my older model Lexus LS400. Initially, I was talking to him about the touch screen models that other places were talking to me about. He talked me out of it and into a higher quality sounding system, without a touchscreen at a way cheaper (1/2) price point. Installation was fast, honest and with complete disclosure. Lastly, this is a family oriented business. I can't tell you how many shops I have gone into in the past where I felt out of place. I don't have a super fixed up car and I'm not 21 anymore.
