Quaint little breakfast spot on the Square in Linglestown. Plenty of parking in the back. I've visited STR twice for breakfast and both times the meals were good. The omelets are good sized and come in a variety of options. The home fries can have onions added to the cooking, which is a nice extra, but still sort of bland. Food overall could just be kicked up a notch with a bit more flavor, but the price is very affordable. The coffee is very good! One thing needed is some background music playing to add to the atmosphere. It is eerily quiet except for the sound of utensils and murmurs of other conversations. Lots of potential with a few tweaks, but we will return. read more

The first place I picked for breakfast (because they were closer to the hotel) was closed. This was Fate, steering me to a better thing. I actually drove right past this restaurant because I wasn't expecting it to be in a restored Victorian house. It's nice in here; a little crowded- I got the last table- filled with families just out of church. It's warm here, and comfortable, and sounds happy. The local art on the walls is a nice touch; not the corporate crap one usually sees. In a restaurant where the coffee mugs advertise local businesses, I have yet to be disappointed with the coffee. Theirs is bright, bold, and fresh. I sucked it down like it was the antidote for daylight savings time, which it technically is. I was disappointed not to see scrapple on the menu- this IS Pennsylvania, after all. After scanning the menu, which all looked delicious, I opted for a mushroom omelette with Swiss cheese, Rye toast, and hash browns with onions. It was delivered to my table in about 5 minutes! The omelette was incredible. Fluffy, absolutely stuffed with fresh mushrooms and melty cheese. It's obvious that the hash browns are homemade fresh, not frozen. The potatoes were fluffy as the middle of the best French fry you ever had, and the onions were almost al dente. The toast could have been a little more toasted, but it was delicious. It was a perfect amount of food; I am sated, but not stuffed. The waitresses are very friendly and courteous. I hardly had time for a sip of coffee before one of another offered to top it up. And the best part? All of this for- are you sitting down? Nine dollars and forty-eight cents! Not even ten bucks! Well, until I add the tip. But still, how many places can you eat like this for so little? I drive through Harrisburg a couple of times a year, and will definitely be making the short trip off the highway to eat here again! read more

We noticed the cook appeared to screw up some of the orders at he kept checking the food in the window with several plates sitting there 10 minutes or so. We quickly ordered but we had to ask for water 3 times before she brought it. I had eggs Benedict and wife had a specialty omelette. I was finishing up my wife's leftover omelette and noticed multiple hairs in the food. Even though I was nearly sick after finding the hair I still am not one to complain unless they ask. I love mom and pop restaurants with a vintage feel. This place is just off the square in Linglestown, so ignore your gps and park in the back and take the back entrance like the regulars do. We went for a late weekday breakfast. I wasn't too hungry and had a breakfast sandwich. My husband had the silver dollar pancakes that were light and fluffy (and not too thick). The coffee was awful (which surprised me since I thought it was affiliated with the roasters), there were 'several' hairs in my sausage gravy and biscuits (ruined my appetite), and my wife's fruit waffle was served completely cold. This restaurant looks like a restored house to a small eat in restaurant. It probably seats may 35-40 ppl, may less. Doesn't look very fancy on the outside nor inside but my mother says they're very busy on Sundays, so people actually like to eat here despite its appearance. The food was good! I ordered the bacon egg and cheese sandwich on croissant bread and it was very delicious. They even cut it on half for me. Their hash brown with onions was very good, not doused in grease and it was great portion. I wanted to try their pancakes and so I ordered one for my mom and I to share. Let me tell you guys, the pancake smelled like it was made from home, it smelled like what pancakes are supposed to smell like. Buttery, and sweet...like cake!! It was cooked to perfection and it was great just the way it was, plain with butter and syrup...no fruit, no whipped cream. I read in some reviews how the service was awful here, fortunately, our service was great. Our coffee was topped off, often and our food was cooked fast and efficiently. St Thomas restaurant is located right in the Linglestown square. Parking is around the back so you can enter in the back or if you park on the street you can enter in the front. It's a seat yourself establishment where locals frequent and everyone is friendly and welcoming. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner but I usually come for breakfast. The prices are very reasonable! Their coffee is fresh and hot and the food is consistent. One thing I enjoy is that you can get shredded hash browns or sliced home fried potatoes. The potatoes are what make or break a breakfast plate for me and these are always cooked perfectly! No additional salt needed! Service is friendly but there's usually only one server. It's fine, you can get up and pay your bill and she's only a wave and a smile away if you need a refill. This is definitely my go to breakfast spot! read more

Saint Thomas Restaurant is located on the square in Linglestown, Pa. My wife and I went today after she finished work. There was a large sign out front that advertised the specials that day. We had a chicken shish-kabob, which was laid over a bed of small rice. Ther was a standard portion of chicken, green peppers and onions. A salad w/ greek dressing, the cashier (a girl about 18 years old) took our the cucumber, onion, head of lettuce and tomato and cut it all up right in front of us. and some french fries (which tasted like they need to be cooked a tad more), all for only 9.95. The interior of the restaurant was very clean, it had a fresh look to it. There were about 14 tables, all with silverwear, napkins, salt and pepper lined up. The menu had many traditional american items on it. It also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was a family, in the back conversing about something in a foreign language. The waitress took our order after we perused through the menu, and then one of the gentlemen in the back came up to cook our food, he said the are Lebanese. (Also they do not serve pork products) Accepts Visa, MC, discover and has local delivery of 15 dollars or more. Open for about 4 months now. Limited Parking in the front. read more

I ask the waiter what I wanted as my eggs., I asked for scrambled, she brought normal. They were okay anyway, wouldn't get chicken tenders. Their juice taste like they were refrigerated for 2 months, and diluted. Food is expensive. Eggs with Bacon & Hashbrowns: 10.15 Chicken fingers and fries: $15 On the menu, it's 6.00 for eggs and chicken fingers were 7.45. Not sure why they jacked the prices on me, maybe they included a tip in it even though I gave them an additional tip. Not that good of a place to go to, Dunkin' donuts or a home cooked breakfast would had been 10x better than this place if your not trying to spend your entire savings account. They don't know how to price your food anyway, scammers moral of the story. Waffles tasted microwaved, the strawberries on it weren't ripe at all so clearly they don't care for what produce they buy. 2/10, pretty bad in all. Gave them a fair tip to help them buy better ingredients LOL but again they most likely included that in my total. And if you order something extra, they give u it on an extra receipt, you pay 2 times instead of one time. Very lazy and even more money wasted. LOL. We had frequented here for breakfast many times over the last few years and have until recently enjoyed the visits. The food is still delicious but the service has fallen for sure . Our server had the personality of a doorknob. Beverages are now served in thin plastic disposable cups warm with a scant couple of ice cubes . When I asked for a refill with a bit more ice she gave a few more cubes but no refill . When paying our bill we didn't even get a "thank you " . Debated on going here or another restaurant for breakfast, wishing we picked the latter. The menu had most of the regular breakfast foods, but nothing at all besides that. The coffee was watery, and the "hashbrowns" were very boring. The "home fries" was just one big flattened potato cooked for a few minutes, not very flavorful or exciting at all. Worst of all, I ordered eggs with the "sirloin steak," which turned out to be just a giant patty of minimally seasoned ground beef. Yes, ground beef. No resemblance of a steak whatsoever. Don't even want to know what the "new york strip" would have entailed. I guess they just shape a patty of ground beef to somewhat resemble a steak and hope nobody will notice. Though, I guess I should have known something was up as it was only $10. Not sure why I was even given a steak knife or asked how I wanted my "steak" cooked, considering it was literal ground beef. The ice machine must have broken halfway through filling up our drinks as my girlfriend only had 3 ice cubes in her water and I had none; the warm tap water wasnt the greatest tasting. She also said her omelet was average at best, I had no desire at all to try it as everything else tasted very bland. Not sure how someone could possibly say this was the "best breakfast ever," I will definitely not be returning. read more

One of our new favorite places. There's nothing like a local Mom and Pop diner! I think the place is family owned and operated by an Egyptian couple... When time permits the cooks tries to always come and greet the guests and make sure everything was good and properly prepared. The breakfast has been great! There are always specials available that aren't on the menu... The breakfast platter was huge and I couldn't finish it. The biggest 2 pancakes that I've ever been served. Very average. Nothing really bad to report but I wasn't overly impressed. Coffee was decent, owners seemed friendly. Prices were fair. Got a bagel egg sandwich with bacon. Bagel was similar to a lenders brand. Plain and bagged. My boyfriend got eggs benedict. Hollandaise sauce was broken. Hashbrowns were cold and the onions just placed on top. I could see into the kitchen and the chef was pre-cooking the hashbrowns and putting them in a big bin. Service was semi-slow (but not too bad) and many tables were dirty when we got there. I had to ask for a coffee refill even though the waitress (owner?) walked by and looked at our cups multiple times. I would eat there again if friends were going or there were no other options. Gotta say, if you are looking for a nice, little and homey diner spot this is the place to go!! The foods prices are great, with a lot of options and the service was exceptional!! My Sos was served on raw but burnt potatoes and I'm pretty sure the sos was spoiled... It's not supposed to taste like that...EVER!!! My boyfriend said his omelet was edible but his potatoes where raw and burnt. Gross! My brother in law got waffles that were probably made hours before and warmed in the microwave... They were so rubbery that there wasn't enough syrup to save them! Not impressed at all... Like I said I love Going out for breakfast, this place isnt worth a second try... My stomach can't handle it.
