We chose Capp's for a Friday night bday party and it didn't disappoint. Ordering is super-easy and pick-up is the best in the area in my opinion. Food: Meatballs: Really tasty, moist, $11 for 3 balls is a little steep. Maybe lose the side of bread and add a meatball? Fried Mozzarella: Again hot, tasty, would've liked to see one more piece for the price, but if you're making these in-house I respect that. Calamari: This was the winner for me, fried calamari is a hard one for take-out but this remained crispy and the breading was really well seasoned. The gluten free crust is some of the best I've had, although if that's not an issue or you're cheating, their original crust is the stuff crunchy lovers dream of. After driving by Capps for two years, we decided to try it for the first time. We ordered a pizza, caesar salad and knots. The large salad is smaller than large salads at most restaurants. It was tasty, but the lettuce had brown edges -- not as fresh as I would prefer. The pizza crust was perfect. The sauce and cheese were much thinner than I expected for a quality pizza. In fact these ingredients were just not enough for the pizza. The toppings were great. The knots were also very good. All in all, there was nothing about the meal to justify the high prices at Capps. We might eat there again, just not sure. Expected a chain-like pizza place based on location on the busy 15/501. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised when I saw the menu, and then even exceeded my expectations. The fennel salad with arugula and Parmesan was fresh and simple, the Napoli pizza delicious. Appreciated the saltiness of the anchovies contrasting the sweet tomato sauce. Thought it was kind of ballsy to feature a white clam pie on the menu, since Chapel Hill so so far from New Haven. But it's fair to say with a wood pile on a rack in a far corner of the restaurant and a wood burning oven, these folks know what they're doing. The cheese in our antipasto was local, the sausage house made. Our server told us the deserts, such as olive oil and limoncello cakes, are made on the premises, and that really blew my skirt up. We moved from the SF Bay Area to Chapel Hill in June 2018. This restaurant is probably the best one we have been to since moving here. Great thin crust pizzas. Great pasta and salads. My wife is Italian. She ordered a faro soup once that was a good as the soup we had in Tuscany. We go here probably one a week and I have only had one dish that was disappointing (Eggplant Parmesan). Service can sometimes be spotty. They are great people though and are quick to acknowledge a slip-up. read more

As a customer for a number of years, I can no longer recommend this restaurant. We first found them during the pandemic, when they only did a takeout business, and the service and food were good. Now they have great difficulty sequencing and expediting meals. We recently ordered takeout with a pizza, two pastas, and a salad and it took 1.5 hours to get our meal. it was supposed to be ready in 45 minutes and I arrived to pick up on time, but was forced to stand in the restaurant waiting another 45 minutes for our food. the owner was fairly rude about the delay, indicating the pastas were backed up, telling me directly that "it takes aa long as it takes." The restaurant was not crowded. They started turning away walk in customer who wished to dine in approx. 45-50 minutes before their closing--and did so rather abruptly each time. We will not return until they change their attitude toward customer service and fix their problems in the kitchen. Very disappointed! read more

We ordered pizza and meatballs online for pick up on July 10. The receipt said it should be ready in 17 minutes. When my husband went to pick it up it seems our order got lost In the others. But they said it would be ready by the 45 minutes they promised? We had a pic of the receipt that promised within 17 minutes. What? So my husband left and went back and it seemed a little chaotic. When he got home we realized one out of the two pizzas was the wrong pizza. So we called and were asked to come back for the correct pizza but since we had been there twice and live 15 minutes away we asked for a refund and they agreed. The refund showed up as pending in my credit card for a bit, but disappeared. So I checked a week later and no refund. I called and left a message, since their hours are so limited. No response. And I had left a 20% tip for this lousy service. So I spent $54 for one 12" or 14" pizza And a a small order of meatballs that came with a small thin slice of bread. Pizza was very doughy. Capp's is another great addition to North Chatham county's newest commercial venture, the Veranda! I've been here a few times so far. There are some great things about it and there are a few kinks that they still need to iron out. First off, the good stuff: The food is on point. The pizzas are legit, wood-fired delights. There are some really interesting flavor combinations as well as the traditional things. The daily specials (which usually involve some house made pasta) are excellent! A couple weeks back they had a duck bolognese and the other night a butternut squash ravioli. Nailed 'em both! And - unlike many Italian places - you won't feel like you're about to burst after eating. There is a great dessert menu as well. I had the limoncello marscapone sponge cake the other night and it tasted like it could have been made in Sorrento. Outstanding! Now for the opportunity area: service. It has gotten better each time we've been in so that's a good sign but they still seem to be ironing things out on that end. We ordered takeout the other day and were advised it would be 20 minutes. We arrived in 15, and we waited for 35 more. Once they get that part figured out, I'd have no problem giving this place 5 stars. The last thing I'll mention is that it's kind of pricey. Pizzas are generally in the $14-16 range. Frankly, I don't mind paying a little more because you can taste the quality. Highly recommend to check this place out! read more

My husband and I Just dined in at this restaurant after years of the restaurant only offering take-out, citing prolonged Covid issues, way beyond what other restaurants cited. The restaurant still is in primarily take -out mode it appears despite allowing dining in finally. A portion of the dining room is devoted to visible storage and one can see a a big shelving unit holding all take our orders. Children of the owners/ staff played on a nearby dining table. One had occupied a bar stool, when we walked in, dashing our hopes of sitting at the bar in that area, our favorite spot. The waitress brought our food minus water. And I began to ask one of the children if we could have some water or else I had to get up to flag down the waitress or any other personnel. None were within ear shot. The waitress caught the tail end of me asking the child and intervened and brought a plastic bottle of water and unbeknownst to us, charged us $1 for it. And said to tell her if we needed another. The waitress never checked in while we were eating so we had no way to get butter nor oil for the one piece of bread we each received with our ravioli. My wine glass was empty for a period of time and since she never came back, that was that. She finally came back after we were all done, asking if we wanted dessert and we said no. I told her it was my birthday and she said they had cannoli, inferring for us to buy it. We paid the bill and left. It was the worse dining in birthday experience. We felt were an aside to the rushed atmosphere of the take-out commotion. They need to continue with offering only take out if dining -in customers are going to be neglected and have to put up with sub par ambiance. We were the only couple dining in so it wasn't like they were busy with dine in customers. The ravioli was $1.00 more than what the menu listed. We had to buy water and weren't offered the option of free tap water. And the specials had no prices listed on the Board. All in all, a very disappointing, nickel and diming us experience. read more

Always go for the specials because they are getting even more attention. I have had frutti di mare all over the world including Italy. It is one of my favorite dishes (along bouillabaisse and paella). Last night at Capp's I experienced the best I have ever had... No kidding. This was my sixth visit here and everything has always been fantastic. This place is the right size, and has outdoor seating. We went there for take out pizza and were shocked at how small their "large" pizza was and when we asked them to make another pizza for us they replied, "Oven is full."
