We love there sandwiches, pastas, salads, pizza's you name it. All of there stuff is so delicious and love the mama papa Italian atmosphere this place has. We come visit from Las Vegas and have to make a stop before heading home and take a bake at home lasagna and cheese bread to have for dinner. Nathan is amazing and so sweet. The food is great, but unfortunately I don't think I'll be coming here any more despite being a returning customer for decades. The prices have been getting really high, but I was willing to deal with that. What I'm not willing to deal with, however, is listening to what I assume is the manager constantly yelling at staff. Service jobs are stressful enough without micromanaging and overly aggressive supervisors, and even when coaching is warranted it should never be done in front of other people (especially not customers). This should be common sense, but I guess it isn't. Either way, not the kind of behavior that I wan't to reward with my continued business. I hope that management reads this review. Businesses need to know that the way they treat their employees matters to their customers as well. read more

What can I say that hasn't been said about Capri Deli?!?! They are clearly the best deli in the area and have been for the last several decades that I've been around. Their sandwiches are generous with fresh ingredients. The taste is sooooo good. They also have salads. They have a small grocery section with wine, olives and such. They have self seating. The sitting area is far enough away from the sandwich makers so having a nice lunch with conversation is quite comfortable. I highly recommend Capri Deli!! read more

I started coming here when I was 16, now fast forward 47 years.....the restaurant was located on the corner of Barranca and San Bernardino Rd. At any given day it was common to have a line outside the door for Capri grinder. Now 30 years later they moved to thier current location that offers seating for the many patrons to consume the delicious sandwiches. My favorite was the Italian sausage on a roll with provolone, peppers, onions and marinara sauce. We stopped by this weekend and had an Italian sausage grinder and it was so Good! Just wish I lived closers and could work my way through the menu! Good customer service, clean and well lighted. read more

I had a function at my house and thought I'll order a four foot sandwich for my guests as we've never been disappointed when we buy individual sandwiches from Capri Deli. You can't go wrong with their sandwiches. The sandwich was very good. Everyone commented on the bread's freshness but that there was not enough meat. Meh. NBD. I have been coming to capri since I was a little girl. Over the years the quality of the food has gone downhill big-time. My kids usually like to order the turkey sandwich the way they make it my husband and I usually like to order the pastrami. I used to love their spaghetti salad but this past time that we went for lunch we ordered sandwiches (3 to be exact), spaghetti salad, a dill pickle, and 2 bags of chips ...$48 later...we went home to eat and the spaghetti salad was straight up sour! It was so gross so, I called and a really nice girl named Alexis is who I spoke with. She said that they would replace the spaghetti salad the next time we came in as well as give us a few free cookies. Super sweet ! Ok, I agreed. The turkey sandwiches my girls enjoyed and the pastrami sandwiches are starting to become more and more filled with fatty pastrami and not high quality meat as they have been in the past. *flash forward to our next visit * So, this past Monday we got our replacement spaghetti salad and it worse than the one before!!!! WTF? This time the spaghetti noodles looked gray and tasted rancid. I don't know if they need to check the temperature of their refrigerators or if they are just using lower quality products because of the pandemic but it is not the same as it has been for years. The quality of the food that they are serving is not as it once was. And, it is sad because we used to love coming here at least once a week but sadly if the food continues to be bad and inconsistent then we will no longer be enjoying lunch here. Prior to my first visit here I was told, "This place is better than The Hat", growing up with The Hat that was hard to believe. The crowded ordering area should've been the first clue this place is doing something right. I ordered the pastrami sandwich to do the taste comparison, no joke, it only took one bite to agree whole heartedly it is absolutely better than The Hat. I've had several items here, they've all been huge, delicious, mouthwatering, and bursting with flavor. Recently, I had the meatball and sausage sandwich on cheesy garlic bread, the modification really took the sandwich to the next level. The chicken and avocado salad would've been superb had the chicken not been so dry. It's not difficult to over cook thin chicken breast but the dressing and avocado made it go down a bit easier. In addition to being a deli, they have a mini market with ready to go items like lasagna, pastas, desserts, wines & other stuff. It's worth checking out while you're waiting for your food. The line can get kind of long but they typically have several people working the counter to put your order together. Super bonus, their beers on tap are so cold your mug frosts over on the outside of the glass. They have a variety of bottled beers, sodas, teas and other drinks also. Add the pastas, potato salads, chips, picked eggs, among other things to have with your sandwich. They have a smaller lot in front of the restaurant as well as more parking around back, and anything you can find on the street. One of my new favorite deli places to come to in covina. I ordered the lasagna with a side salad while my girlfriend had the small Turkey and ham sandwich on squaw bread. All portions are big. We couldn't finish and ended up taking food home. I gave 5 stars based on the food. This place is known for their sandwiches, pasta salads, lasagna, and other Italian dishes. They also have a little deli market where you can buy all different kinds of cheese, meats, sodas, beers, and all other sandwhich/pasta related items. It's hard to get the attention of the three girls behind the counter that just yack with each other. It wasn't just me there. There were other customers there too that were frustrated. At least five minutes went by. Then they get upset when you interrupt their very important conversation. (NOT) Then they mixed up our orders with another group of people. My food wasn't that great. The bread was dry and basically they forgot to put the onions and other stuff I had requested. I remembered to get the root beer on tap this time. A tall frosty glass with Thomas Kemper root beer for $1.49. I also got a root beer float ($3.25) with several scoops of vanilla ice cream to-go. This time I got a 12" mortadella ($8.45) with oil, mustard, mayo, tomatoes, provolone, and lettuce with pepper. The bread was soft and chewy. Can't believe I've work a mile away for 7 years and never tried it. We were craving a good sandwich shop and trusty Yelp led us here. This place is literally in the middle of industrial area and has been around for over 60 years!! The parking lot is tiny and shared with auto shops, but there's plenty of street parking. There was a long line of people waiting to order...always a good sign. I could smell the deli, pizza, bread, and every other goodness while I waited in line. I was getting so hungry I wanted to eat everything in sight!! There's an abundant array of deli meats, cheeses, cookies, salads right when you walk in. Don't let the line scary you, it moves really quickly. You basically order at the deli counter and they'll bring the food out to you. There's a seating area across the room and a few tables outside. They're in the process of printing out new togo menus, so I'll recommend getting one and calling in your order if you want to skip the line. The sandwiches are huge and they are very generous with the toppings. I had the cold cut combo and it was so damn tasty. We also ordered the 1/2 spaghetti 1/2 ravioli with meat sauce combo which comes with a side salad and bread rolls. The side salad is super fresh and comes in this huge bowl. The rolls were fresh and piping hot. Nothing I hate more than cold rolls, I wish restaurants would stop serving bread if they're not going to serve it hot. My girlfriend's stepdad told me about how he and Kathy's cousin had gone out to Capri Deli & Kitchen a few weeks back, and his glowing recommendation for their Pastrami Dip got me interested. So, off we went this past weekend! We both ordered their large Pastrami Dip sandwiches ($8.99) - loaded full of meaty goodness and slathered with mustard and pickles, this sandwich definitely puts the Hat's version to shame. In fact, we both brought our leftovers home for our lunch the next day! I also have to mention the soda machine here... for some reason, the drinks taste crisper than at the majority of the restaurants I have ever been to. Maybe they clean their fountain lines more regularly...? Capri Deli's been around for about 60 years; this family-owned restaurant has that lived-in feel to it. Loved the decor (can't hate on a place that has one of Elvis Presley's house lamps, a signed B.B. King guitar, and old-school exercise equipment around, amongst other things), and while seating (and parking) is at a premium, they become more available as diners leave stuffed. Additionally, there's items nicely packaged to go such as family-sized lasagnas and desserts. And, even though the counter staff get busy, they're some of the friendliest folks I've encountered. I so want to try their cold cut sandwich, and their meatball and sausage sandwich... gosh darn it, now I'm going to start hunting for a place in San Diego that has sandwiches as high quality as Capri Deli! read more

If you have a sandwiches that's so delicious that people like myself are willing to drive a long distance to get one. Why would the restaurant owner stop selling the deliciousness? Great sandwiches great Food! I'm giving a 2 star rating because of the customer service. Capri Deli has a younger staff and Management needs to teach them customer etiquette. Staff does not concentrate on what they are doing and ignores the customer. Instead they are in full conversation about other things outside of the work place. I have placed phone orders in the past and something is always wrong when I pick up. I recently was there and as I was standing in line to be helped the young lady who I thought was going to take my order looked up at me and walked away to do something else, she didn't say a word to me. I stood there for about 5min and then the person behind me was having his order taken, so I asked why was skipped? They told me that someone would help me soon? I asked why should I have to wait again when the customer behind me was being served? All I got was apology's but I still had to wait as the 2 other customers who were behind me where being handed their orders as I had to wait longer. I finally got my order and the sandwich was great as always but the customer service experience put a bad taste in my mouth. I have been a long time customer of Capri and every year customer service seems to be getting worse. After not having walked thru their door for at least twenty years, didn't really know what to expect. The wife ordered the sautéed chicken Parmesan sandwich, myself, I went for the lasagne meal. Her sandwich was lackluster at best. I'd say the chicken was cooked far in advance, and was incredibly tough. My lasagne tasted fine, although it was not heated all the way through. Microwave? Warmed up in the pizza oven? Who knows. But it tasted good. The salad? Why bother serving it?
